Hotel Libertà - Modena

This is a tired facility in desperate need of a make-over. At this price one expects a decent TV and matching furniture. It looks as if nothing has been done for about 30 years. The location is excellent, and the room has all the standard facilities, but at the price it needs to offer something more than this. Also note the 20 euro charge for parking in an area where there is little alternative.

Hotel plus: great location. Hotel minus: a really basic (sad) furnishing in the room, a cold atmosphere. It's a pity!

Needed to checkout very early at 5am. The clerk was preparing breakfast and was very rude. He then calmed down and checked me out. He apologized but I will only come back here if necessary. I am noticing that the quality of Best Western is decadent. The bathroom was clean but the toilet had gook stuck in the bottom of the bowel. The walls are paper thin!!!! I could hear the guests in the next room as if we were in the same room together. I feel their prices are too expensive for the quality and service, especially during trade fairs. The desk clerk present during my arrival was polite but a "know it all" as I had problems with logging on to the wifi with their password. She didn't believe me and insisted that I didn't know what I was doing. I've been working on computers for YEARS...! Had to go back upstairs, get the computer, bring it back down so she could see for herself that it was the password and not my incompetence.

We loved the location, right in the centre of town, 1 minute walk from the Duomo, the tourist office, everything in the centre. We got free bikes at the tourist office (just ask and you gets keys for three days), so we could cycle around. The gardens are about a 5 minute bike ride from the hotel, and everything is close! Nice breakfast, nice receptionists. Good price.
