I and my INdian colleagues ahve been staying there atleast twice a year for the last few years and they are quite good. They are improving. They should be encouraged to keep tea/coffee tray in all the rooms for guests comforts. They do make it avaliable for us but I think it is good for all..

Can't rate as the hotel was closed due to air conditioning problems. We were sent to sister hotel across the street which was an upgrade and we were well taken care of. A sign on the door of the Splendido would have been helpful as the doors were locked and we had to wait until someone heard us.

This hotel was far from Splendid, we spent a night here before going down to Verona. We have used Star Hotels many times, but this is far and away the worst one I have ever been in. After arriving late which we informed the hotel about in advance the service we recieved from the reception desk was truly apalling, including asking for payment in advance even though on our booking payment was supposed to be made on departure. The recpetionist was supposed to bring the reciept up to our room but this never arrived and we had to have it reprinted the next morning. The TV in the room did not work. I was also very disappointed by the general attitude of the reception staff, on departure they did not even have the courtesy to ask if everything was OK and when we mentioned the TV they just said they had issues!! Next time we will book the Star Anderson which is across the road which we have never had any issues with.

A normal hotel. Pro: conveniently situated, quiet, clean, with a very good breakfast. Contra: very small bathrooms – you can only edge yourself into it. Also, the receptionist gave totally wrong directions to the city centre – the simplest question – the tram she mentioned does not stop at the station she indicated, tramlines do not go the way she said, and the route of the tram she recommended lies far aside and does not go through the city centre. Next time I’ll only stay in this hotel if they ask 80 Euros for a double room, it isn’t worth more.

I have stayed in many hotels in this area of Milan. I wanted to try another 4 star hotel in the area. I don't consider the Splendido a 4 star property. it is at best, a 3 star. it was clean, but very very basic. the bathroom was totally cramped and small. (if you are a large person, it would not be possible to use the toilet in this room!) I was quite disappointed and will never choose this hotel again.

The location is ideal for transit travellers, just a short walk from Milano Centrale. The majority of staff were excellent. We were disappointed that we received conflicting information regarding the storage of luggage. Initially we were advised that our excess luggage could be stored for 3 days whilst we travelled but were refused when the time came....a disappointing and inconvenient outcome. The beds are so-o-o comfortable !

Nice hotel, don't expect luxury however. The rooms are spacious, and mine was very quiet too. The look of the rooms is still a bit old fashined, with red carpet etc, the neon in the bathroom too bright it hurt the eyes in the morning(someting I really do not like). Otherwhise the Hotel is OK, good location next to the central station and has a metro station just at the next corner. Only downside is the breakfast - here I would have expected a bit more of choice (jelly, bread, fresh orange juice, etc.), but I guess this is the Italian way of having breakfast.

This may have been a 4-star hotel in the early 70s, but it is at best a 2-star now. Convenient location for train, but otherwise far from everything. Staff very nice, breakfast quite good. Room was old and worn and there was a horrible stink from the drains. Desperately needs a facelift, especially at these very high prices.

Really liked this hotel. Not to far a walk from the shopping street (if you want to to the WHOLE street from Puerto Rico street and down to the dome in central Milan. The worst part with this stay was the smell in the room upon arrival. It had really bad smell from cigarette/smoke. They had obviously tried to cover this smell up with airfreshener, but this didn't help much. So if you get a room that recently hasn't been smoked in, I really would recommend this hotel!

The hotel's location is excellent. We arrived by train and left for the airport the following morning on the shuttle bus - both within a couple of minute's walk of the hotel. This was the main reason for choosing the Splendido and we were not disappointed. The room itself was modern and of a good size. On the downside the bathroom was rather small and in need of renovation and there seemed to be no way to use the shower without drenching the whole floor area.

Amazing beds. We were tired from our journey and the bed and shower in our room was "just what the dr. ordered!" Location was good for our needs, right next to the train station. It was a great place to "recharge".

Milan is the last stay in Italy. This hotel is next to the train station and the airport coach is right at the train station. Taking the metro to the city centre is easy just about 15-20 minutes. I choose this hotel for its convenience location, yet, the overall perception is good.

This is a great hotel to stay in if you are taking the train or plane. It is close to both the train station and the place where the shuttle bus for the airport is located. It is also close to the metro so you can get anywhere in Milan. I highly recommend it as your last night stay before returning to the states.

First time in Milan, Italy. We arrived by the airport shuttle around 9PM (it was dark). The shuttle drops you off at the train station. Fortunately we saw the hotel sign when we were on the shuttle bus, so we knew exactly where to walk. Hence, the hotel is very close to the train station. The hotel was clean and staff friendly and knowledgeable. The rooms were small but very clean. Good for the price.

Has Hotel ist leicht mit dem Malpensa-Bus zu erreichen und ist sehr nahe an der Central-Station, so daß sämtliche Sehenswürdigkeiten einfach mit der U-Bahn zu erreichen sind. Im Hotel bekommt man gleich einen Stadtplan in dem die U-Bahnen, die sich farblich nach Strecke unterscheiden gut ausgewiesen sind und so kann man ohne Probleme von A nach B fahren. Das Personal des Hotels war sehr freundlich und professionell. Das Frühstück ließ keine Wünsche offen und abends kann man noch gemütlich mit einem Glas Wein in der Hotel-Lobby sitzen. Wir haben das Hotel Splendido auf jeden Fall unseren Freunden für eine Mailand-Visite empfohlen und werden sicher selbst auch noch einmal wiederkommen.

Das Hotel liegt sehr günstig, direkt am Bahnhof, gegenüber dem Busbahnhof, der die beste Verbindung zu den Flughäfen darstellt. Nur wenige Minuten in die Innenstadt. Die Zimmer sind nicht mehr die neuesten an Einrichtung, aber gepflegt und sauber. Auch das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr in Ordnung, erst recht im Vergleich zu vielen anderen italienischen Hotels. Störend ist allenfalls der Krach, der von anderen Zimmer kommt. Wenn man einen Zimmernachbarn hat, kann man ihn und auch sein TV-Programm leider sehr gut verstehen.

Largely the hotel was very nice hotel catering to the business traveler.It was across from the train station and the bus to the airport. It had a surly officious staff but a good bar and friendly bartender. The one problem was their plumbing problem. Each bathroom had a large drain in the middle of the floor. This drain emitted the foulest smelling sewer gas. We had to cover it up with towels and keep the door to the bathroom shut. Our friends two floors below us had the same problem. The staff paid us no mind when we complained about the problem.

There were two of us staying in the Splendido on our very first visit to Milan. We wanted a hotel close to the station and the Splendido was very well placed and we enjoyed our stay there immensely. We also enjoyed the walk from the hotel to the centre of Milan and despite it not being in the centre of Milan that was not a handicap. If we were to visit Milan again we would definitely think of booking again at the same hotel and would recommend others to go there.

the female welcoming staff told us we did not have room that we requested. but when i showed him the voucher i printed from venere, suddenly, there was our room. the male staff, who eventually took care of us spoke good english. the female staff pretended not to speak in english thereafter. i would not recommend this hotel to travellers who get offended easily or, are afraid to speak out for themselves. the hotel is nice, but some people who man the front desk are not.

The Hotel Starhotels Splendido exceeded our expectations. It is very conveniently located right across the street from the train station. It is a beautiful hotel well-appointed. The rooms are spacious and very clean. Even though our room was located on the front of the hotel across from the train station, we did not hear any outside noise. The restaurant provided excellent meals at a reasonable price. I would definitely stay at the Hotel Starhotels Splendido again.

we booked a triple room back in feb and on our arrival we were show into the smallest twin room i had ever seen, we naturally complained and after much deliberation we were finally moved into a larger double with an extra bed pushed into the room, which left us in very cramped conditions. There was a youth orchestra staying and obviously they had been given the other larger rooms. so we were most disappointed about that. Otherwise, the breakfast was excellent and the room was clean.

We were looking for somewhere close to the main station as well as good price. For the prices that we paid, we were very happy about the hotel. Location is excellent, and we see it right after we stepped out of the main station. Transportation is easy to get to the sightseeing places.

Competences of employees are excellent in breakfast room and poor at reception. Somehow my AMEX was NOT authorized only in this hotel during my trips (I could use it just after check out).It was exactly same situation for the guest who checked out before me. If anybody can pay with AMEX in this hotel, please comment. The surroundings are NOT safe enough, be aware of pick-pockets.

I was completely ignored by all the staffs at the breakfast room. No one said to me anything even though they were aware of me (it was not so busy). Finally I had to say "May I have a cup of coffee?" by myself. If I did not say so I would not have been served any drink. I do not know why they hesitated to talk to me.As long as I felt I was not treated equally as most were served tea or coffee even though they came later than me. This was my first incredibly rude experience because usually staff talks to me with a smile.

The room was very small, but they have killer vegetarian lasagna if you eat in, and a very nice hotel employee brought us our room service, but they seemed annoyed at us at times, like when we asked to have something not on the menu (the in room menu) for dinner, even though they were having it on the menu downstairs. On the upside, it's only a few minute walk from the train station so no taxi needed, and they had a really good morning meal.

The room was tiny and a previous review referred to the room being large. This is a 4 star hotel and the quality of the room was far from 4 star. We stayed in 6 hotels during our stay in Italy and this was the smallest room that we stayed in. Also the room shook everytime an underground train went by.

This hotel can use some renovation and clean-up. We chose it for its proximity to the central train station and Malpesa Express Bus stop. When we informed the front desk we cannot make breakfast since we had a very early flight, they packed us a couple of breakfast bags to go. That was a thoughtful service. They also sold us Metro tickets at the front desk to visit the Duomo area.

Starhotel Splendido met our expectations. Room was on the pricey side for our budget, but it was the best value we could find in Milan. Staff gave us several excellent suggestions for enjoying our short stay. Very convenient to drop off our rental car at the Stazione Centrale after 10 days of motoring. Proximity to 2 subway stations excellent. Bus to Malpensa was very convenient, economical and punctual. Our room was above average spaciousness for European hotels, but carpet definitely needed to be replaced. Nice towels and bathroom amenities. Very nice to be able to open window during the day. We were on the 6th floor and hardly noticed train and subway rumblings under hotel.

I'd thoroughly recommend the Spledido after I spent two nights there last month. The hotel was modern and extremely clean with helpful and friendly staff. It's situated directly opposite Milan Central train station and although other people have commented about the area being unsafe at night I didn't have any problems. The metro is a short walk away and is probably the easiest way to get into the centre (the hotel is about a 30 - 40 min walk from Duomo Square). The lounge and bar area is a nice place to relax and there is a free internet access point. The buffet continental breakfast was good but don't expect to be filled up on brioche. There is, however, a large selection of cereal and fruit and a small selection of more filling sausages, scrambled eggs and bacon. I was staying with two friends in a triple room to watch the Italy - Scotland football game and the room was perfect for our requirements. There were all the amenities you would expect in a modern four star hotel (tea/coffee making facilities, large bathroom with bath, cable tv etc etc). The only thing that appeared not to work was the A/C (either it was turned off for the winter or we didn't know how to operate it) but this was not a problem for us. A fantastic hotel which I will definitely return to when I'm next in Milan.

Since the price quoted on the web site doesn't indicate whether the tax is included so it was a problem to hotel staff to accept the special rate from the Internet reservation. We got the problem solved with the manager of the hotel to honor the rate which we thought was the best value in town during the New Year holiday. And the breakfast was great. We recommend it.

Formal accomodation with influence of station area, much more less individual and welcoming, if compare with Starhotel "Ritz" (previous stay in Milan). Staff of hotel quite unkind,inattentive and ill-mannered . Noisy, especially in nights. As to cleanliness of rooms, breakfasts, common impression - satisfactory without special claims, but not on level of 4 stars. We used standard room with lower price - 109 Eur, but this variant evidently is not good value for money.

The hotel is located over a subway so throughout the night, the hotel shakes. The room is nice for the price, but the towels were not extra white clean and there were mosquitos in the room. Fantastic breakfast. Complete buffet and open at 6:30 AM for early departure. Staff was very helpful in arranging an early morning cab and providing phone numbers to confirm flight information. Hotel is directly accross the street from the train station if you leave Centrale from the right exit. We didn't. Use the bus to Malpensa Airport. Cab was very expensive. Our double room had two twin beds with about 4 inches of separation. Would have preferred a double bed. Nice large room.

The pictures on the website showed spacious stylishly designed rooms. The room was in fact just big enough to walk around the bed. Becouse of the very outdated design the hotel looks like it needs an upgrade. Staff was very usefull in (objective) choice of nice restaurant.

Good price but a poor place to walk at night tried to walk to a restaurant but turned back as we were uncomfortable ( only time in Italy, but this is Milan)Easy to take the subway, just acroos the street. Restaurant was mediocre but there was a very nice waiter(not the captain) who seemed to work endless friendly hours. A/C did not seem to work but I was too tired to call.

The hotel was less than average & I expected more from a 4 star hotel. The only good point about it was that it was close to the train station and metro. The room was dirty, in particular the bathroom. The shower was most unpleasant with lots of mould in the shower.

Ho prenotato per uno Starhotel quattro stelle ed ho avuto una stanza che sarebbe stata inadeguata per un due stelle: mobilio vecchio, sporco e malandato, un bagno in condizioni pietose, coperte sgualcite... senza parlare del continuo viavai di cameriere (controllo del frigobar e della biancheria) e 'manutentori' in cerca dei loro attrezzi. Alla mia richiesta di una camera decente mi è stato risposto che potevo averla dietro pagamento di una quota (circa 60 euro) per l'upgrade. Se lo avessi saputo prima avrei probabilmente scelto direttamente una stanza 'superior', ma nella descrizione fornita non si fa alcun riferimento alla 'varietà' di offerta in termini di qualità. Sono rimasta delusa sia perchè gli Starhotels sono, in genere, ottimi alberghi, sia per la scarsa corrispondenza tra quanto proposto dal sito venere.it (sempre efficace e attendibile) e la (triste) realtà. A favore dello Splendido rimane la posizione assolutamente strategica (proprio di fronte alla Stazione Centrale), il buffet della prima colazione e la cortesia del personale.

This hotel is an excellent example of what a business traveller requires for a trip to Milan. Very efficient, very friendly and will definitely stay here again on my next visit.

I write this in English, so it may have more use to more people. If this is of any use... As every hotel which is making restructuring or other maintenance work, they did not tell it beforehand (maybe they think it scares the customers, but the disappointment and/or irritation maybe even worse, when you find it out only when you are checking in). It did not bother me, I am used to noise from the street, underground (which you can hear and even feel in the lower floors) etc. Maybe the on going restructuring of the lobby bar was also the reason for the reasonable price? There are some defects. For instance in the single room I stayed the toilet was build into a corner in such a way, that if I'd be fat or a bit taller than I am, it would have been impossible to use it. Without going into the details, you need a little bit of acrobatic skills to do your stuff ;-) And the flushing of the toilet is a funny/annoying exercise - depending on your mood! It is like lottery: it goes OK sometimes with first try, sometimes you need 15. Or even more. And as in 50 % of all hotels, the sewer of the shower did not work very well and the basin - or whatever it is - filled up to your ankles. And the shower curtain smelled accordingly. This was the second time I stayed in this hotel (even the same room), and in my opinion - putting everything together - it is a decent hotel, well situated and worth the money spend. Of course if you can not tolerate any small defects, go to a 5-star hotel, if you think they are far better and worth the money. (I stayed once in Milan Hilton, and it was funny to listen the neighbours taking a bath. Yes, first I thought they were in my bathroom. I was left wondering have they made the walls out of recycled newspaper...? I did not dare to touch the wall being afraid they would charge me the repair costs.)

Very efficient service and helpful staff. We got a very large and comfortable 'executive' room equipped with 3 telephones, 2 televisions (including one in the bathroom), electric window blind, internet and fax. There was not a good view from the window but that was expected as it is only 5 minuted from the train station. Considering it's location it was also very quiet. At breakfast there was a good selection of food and the service was good. Watch out for the wobbly floors in the lifts though.
