Located just 5 minutes’ walk from both the Centrale and Porta Garibaldi train stations, the Marconi Hotel is a 4-star luxury hotel in Milan. This striking building is a prime example of typical Milanese-style design, providing guests with an authentic flavor of the city’s architecture. This family-friendly Milan hotel is perfectly placed for quick and easy access on foot or by public transport to all the sights. But before heading downtown, check out what’s under your nose. Just 15 minutes’ walk east from the Marconi is the Corso Buenos Aires shopping district, famed for its high-street take on Milan’s renowned fashion labels. The area to the west of Porta Garibaldi—a 24-minute stroll from the hotel—houses the city’s atmospheric Chinatown where you can shop for leather goods and Chinese silks in Via Paolo Sarpi.

With its sleek, white marble floors and traditional columns, the décor of the hotel’s lobby blends old-world elegance with contemporary design. Guests are set up each morning with a generous helping of cold meats, cheeses, pastries and fruit from the free breakfast buffet. Choose one of the comfortable sofas in the lounge to linger over a coffee and take advantage of the free WiFi provided throughout the hotel. Another great feature of this family-friendly hotel is the free infant cribs in all guest rooms and the fact that children under five stay for free when sharing with parents. Guests can also benefit from the roundtrip airport shuttle service available to them.

Hotel Marconi’s breakfast buffet scores highly among guests for choice and quality. Many people consider value for money as one of the main reasons for returning to the Marconi, as well as its convenient location close to public transport links.

Our experience was the reception was lukewarm, room spacious enough and clean enough. Strong pressure for the shower with tub. Wide range of breakfast options. Location was about a 10 min walk with luggage from Milano Centrale. TIP: don't walk through the middle of the piazza/garden in front of the station. It's become a toilet for the homeless, especially at night. Walk around either side of the semi-circle. Its a hearty walk to the city but we don't mind walking as long as we feel safe. We also enjoyed dinner at La Fattoria on the street behind the hotel (less expensive and more enjoyable than La Caldrega next door). We ordered a second serve of the same pasta dish, which was delicious. I would recommend the hotel to friends especially if you can get a good deal. If you're a clean freak, there was a bit of black mould in the silicon seals of the shower door but you couldn't rub it off so we weren't bothered by it.

The hotel was lovely. The lobby area was very welcoming. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was not as good as I expected. It's ok if you love cakes or are able to eat them. The TVs in the room were old. There are no tea and coffee making facilities in the room or in the hotel, which means you have to buy any from the bar. We had a lovely stay but it's definelty not a 4* hotel.

A very nicely renovated older hotel. Our room was large, comfortable, with a wooden floor and a spacious updated all marble bathroom. Breakfast was about what you'd expect for a tourist hotel. 24 hour front desk. The location couldn't be better. Wifi was usually good. A short walk to the central station, on a tram line, a block from the metro. Unquestionably excellent value for the price. I'd stay again.

We arrived at Hotel Marconi - however our reservation was not recorded properly, so they were out of rooms. However they arranged for a taxi to take us to a near by sister property. It looked almost the same as Marconi (called Hotel Andeola) They paid for the taxi fare and honored our booking price. The staff was great, hotel rooms clean, location was very close to the Marconi and the breakfast was plenty. Overall they took care of the mistake and made happy guests.

The room and bathroom are perfectly clean and "old time chic" elegant. Nice bed linen and toiletries. Breakfast: day 1 (time 8-00) - scrambled eggs and bacon cold and burnt. day 2 (time 7-20) - no eggs, no bacon at all.

This is a beautiful hotel but not as well kept as the same in the US. Woodwork and detail in the rooms and public areas very nice. My only complaint was the temperature of the show vacillated from scolding hot to cold so you needed to time it well. Our second room did not have this show problem.

The staff was helpful and excellent overall. My limitations with the Italian language required some help from the front desk and they were excellent in their response. The breakfast was very nice. Some negative comments were found on Trip Advisor, I can not agree with those. I found the breakfast to be a highlight of our short stay. We stopped in Milan enroute to Austria to visit family. We looked for a location near the Central Train station and the Marconi met that need.

The hotel was convenient for a late arrival at the station and very close to the Republica metro stop. Some good restaurants in streets around the hotel for those who did not want to go into the town centre at night. Bedroom was fine but the trams outside the hotel were noisy late at night and early in the morning - it was hot for March and the windows had to be open at night as air conditioning was not allowed till June. Breakfast was good although the breakfast room was small for the number of guests staying. Good value overall.

We booked a triple room, arrived early and were able to book in as the room was available. Staff were very friendly. Room was reasonable size - not sure why people seem so hung up on room size - we don't intend to spend much time in it! Bathroom was very nice - marble floor and tiles, good sized shower. Breakfast - good choice, better choice if you go down earlier - cheese, ham, cereals, cake, biscuits, yoghurt, pastries, eggs etc. Good location - in business district but walkable from Centrale station and also to the city centre but also good public transport. Non-threatening location, which is surprising and welcome when close to main railway stations. Only complaint was that there was a flashing light on the smoke detector in the room, which wasn't visible in the day but was quite annoying at night. Would thoroughly recommend it.

The hotel was relatively easy to find, just a 500m walk from stazione centrale. Alternatively you can take trams 9 or 33 to reach the hotel. The tram stop is about 10m away. The neighbourhood is quite quiet, being off the main roads but can seem a bit dodgy at night. It's only a perception as I've actually walked around at odd hours. Just remember to keep to the lit side streets. Great convienience store "La Colonale" directly across the street and a cafe selling phone cards, tabacco a few doors next to it. There are also a couple of phone shops down the street (Vodafone and Wind) for local SIM cards. Vodafone charges 3 Euro a day for unlimited 3G surfing but make sure you let the guy know that you have an iphone or smart phone and they'll activate the data access (data was quoted as taking 48 hours to activate, but I got mine activated within 6 hours). A few cafes/restaurants/bread shops in the vicinity as well. The hotel is very close (50m) to the Metro/Sub-urban (M/S signs) Railway Station "Repubblica". Just make sure you understand how the Italian undergrounds work and that Repubblica is quite a huge station and not all entrances lead to the metro (The one just 10m away from the hotel leads to the Railway only). We got ourselves a 48 hour pass and had fun travelling all over the place. Due to the proximity of the station, we even had the luxury of dropping off stuff at the hotel late in the afternoon, before heading out for dinner. The hotel has a "4-star" rating posted at the entrance, however, I would take it with a pinch of salt. It's more like a 3-star establishment and so long as you are not expecting the Hilton, you'll fit in fine. The hotel has 2 small lifts, just nice for 2 people and 2 luggages. Breakfast room is just next to the lifts. There's a little bar at one side of the hotel, although I've not seen anyone order a drink in my 4 days there. The room is decently sized by European standards and has parquet flooring. Pleasant and funct

Excellent experience, everything as indicated in the web. The hotel is very clean and an excellent breakfast considering my experience in Italy in different cities (Roma, Firenze, Positano, Venezia). The only weak point from my point of view is the internet connection fee (3 Euros per hour), the hotel should include it in the daily rate.

Hotel Marconi was just about perfect. Its lobby is large and comfortable. Staff were very helpful and efficient. The room itself was roomy and comfortable. Bathroom was big, elegant and everything worked well. I love the heated towel racks. The beds were very comfortable and big; pillows really fluffy. Right across the street from the hotel was a nice little store for water and snacks. We did not eat the breakfast. I rate this hotel very highly and would indeed stay there again the next time I am in Milan.

We were very satisfied with this hotel. It's not a 5 star hotel but considering the price, the value is excellent. Being North American, it really measured up with the standard that I'm used to. The rooms are clean and big. The bathroom was the biggest I've seen for an hotel of that price range in Italy! A super amazing walk-in shower with a rainfall shower-head. Nice TV with cable. No free internet: 3 euros/hour, 20 euros/day; so the pay-per-hour was fair enough to buy an hour a day to check emails and such. The breakfast was served on site (has opposed to many small hotel having no room and sending you to a nearby cafe) and had a more than decent buffet-style selection of pastries, eggs, sausage, yogurt, juice and coffee. Good location, 10-min walk from the central train station, 1-min walk from the subway, and within walking distance from Duomo (we walked it round trip every day). If you stay there, make sure to go for a coffee at Bianco Latte, which is 10-min walk down on the main avenue that goes down to Duomo (Via Filippo Turati, 30). Best cappuccino in Italy! Great ice cream and food too.

My two sisters and I spent one night in the Marconi hotel on Sept 29th 2010 and it was such a pleasurable experience that we regretted not having time to stay longer. We were impressed with the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms, the abundant and delicious breakfast, the great location with easy access to the Metro and short walk to Milan Central station. Most impressive of all was the friendliness of the staff and in particular a wonderful girl on reception. I regret not taking her name but she helped us plan our short stay with really useful information. Altogether a memorable stay and would recommend this hotel without reservation to friends.

Renovation is still underway in the now **** Hotel Marconi with plastic sheeting across work in progress areas. Our weekend was free from drilling & hammering which started up Mon morning. The large, marbled & expensively furnished entrance area is impressive though we never saw the bar manned. Apart from one female, reception staff seemed largely disinterested. I asked for a map & but no other information was offered; there was no concierge; no tea/coffee facilities in the room but no room service info either. The room was small & the whole place strangely souless. For 160 Euros a night we expected better/more. Milan was a complete rip off. We couldn't wait to leave & wished we hadn't booked 3 nights as could have done it all in a day.

This hotel was just right for our needs. We flew into Milan at the start of our first Italian vacation for just one night. Marconi is close to the central train station, and from there is just a short metro ride to the major sights.
