Ok, it was cheap but it was terrible. It's not that the cleaners had not done their job. It's that it's "old" and in need of immediate restoration to be able to keep clean and tidy. The public areas were the worst.

I had a single with bath, the hotel did not have air conditioning and it was extremely hot and humid on the night that I stayed in Milan. Very close to the Centrale Station in Milan, that was the best part of it, considering it was a layover for me and I had to be on a 7am train the next morning.

When I arrived, there were many men smoking in the reception and the atmosphere was not nice for a single woman. However, the receptionist of the morning/afternoon shift was very friendly. The room was OK for a 2* hotel. In my case, I just wanted a hotel close to the train station so that I could take a train to Austria the following day - and the Virgilio is very well located in that respect. AT NIGHT THE HEAT SYSTEM IS TURNED OFF AND THE BLANKETS PROVIDED ARE VERY THIN (see pics), so if you stay at the Virgilio in winter make sure that you have extra blankets in your wardrobe!

Not welcoming at all, breakfast very poor, so not really good price-quality relationship... Anyway, very convenient because the hotel is at a 5 minutes walk from the train and suburb stations.

I stayed in this hotel a few years ago. Then it seemed pretty ok. This time I could not really understand why, it seemed like a totally different place. I stayed in a single room without shower and wc for 4 nights (cheap yes). First night was a nightmare due to 5 italian teenagers having fun all night in a room across the hall. Third night it was a baby screaming. The place is really noisy and you can hear absolutely everything that's going on in all rooms next to yours. The whole place is sort of gloomy and old and dirty and smells bad. Its actually a bit like a Lynch movie or something with the most weirdest looking old old ladies walking around and hanging out in the lobby. I would guess 50% of the people in the hotel are old friends to the owner or people without jobs and the like that possibly rent on a long term basis. The lobby is always full of "friends" hanging out in the sofas. Very special place. The best thing you can say about the hotel, apart from the name, is that it is very close to the train station. So if you are stopping by for a quick sleep you wont get hurt, unless you stumble into the teens or the crying babies!

the staff was very welcoming, helping me to find a parking place. Unfortunately, the bathroom was a part of the room, extremely cold and separated only by a folding door. Anyway, an acceptable place for a night.

Basically you get what you pay for. The hotel was cheap, room was ok, TV worked, linen was clean. We could get more hot water at night so had hot baths rather than cold showers, although bottom of bath was quite rough so we've got a few grazes..! Drains also bit smelly in bathroom. Near to Metro so easy to get into city centre. Massimo (owner) bit gruff but finally got a smile when we paid the bill, he also got his mate to drop us at the airport for 20 Euros.

people at the reception are rude, they never hello, no goodbye, and thank you, if you ned a help to go somewhere, they even don't answer you, the first one was watching his emails all time, the second, was everytime on phone, and they don't care about the guest in the hotel, the hotel is well situated, near to the city shopping, and markets, but employees are under competent

Don't stay there is you need a good night of sleep. I have stayed in a hotel in the same area before that was simple but still nice and perfect for one night stay in Milan. However, this hotel was not welcoming at all! there were some "party people" staying in the same floor as I was and they were making noise until 2 am. It seemed like the whole floor was partying and the hotel staff did nothing about it. The room phone did not work so it was impossible to communicate with the front desk.

DIRTY DIRTY DIRTY : the room was awfully dirty, the public areas were dirty as well. i won't even talk about the bathroom. we called before our arrival to get some informations and the owner hung up on us !! he was very rude and mean anyway. The îctures on the web side have nothing in a common with the hotel itself .... (where did they get them !?) AVOID THIS HOTEL NEVER GO THERE !!!

This place is a total dump! I though I was staying in a crack den! So noisy and so horrible, and I dont even want to think about what I caught from the Bathroom! I would NEVER recommend it and and dissapointed as all the other hotels I have booked through Venere have been great.

Travelling with a group of 10 football supporters I was very pleased with the way our group was treated. Although we arrived very late in the evening the Hotel arranged for a local restaurant to stay open so we could eat (and drink). All guidance provided by the hotel staff was accurate and easily understandable. (No one in our group spoke Italian but this did not matter). Breakfast was perhaps the only disappointment of the stay. The dining facilities were very cramp and there was no flexibility in allowing us to have an earlier breakfast on the day of our departure. (we had to leave the hotel 1 hour before breakfast was due to start). Overall the Hotel is reasonably well situated, close to the Central Train Station and only a short walk to the underground network. I have no hesitation in recommending this hotel to others.

Virigilio offers much more than expected for this price: everybody knows the kind of hotel you expect when you pay 30 euros but this time I've been really surprised. The employees are really nice and helpful, they treated us like friends and as far as I remember, I had never felt so comfortable in any hotel before. I have no doubt I'll stay there again next time I go to Milan, and I strongly recommend this hotel!

(sorry for my english) It was the worst hotel during my vacation They said is located 150mt of train station and it was at 500-800mt I call because I can´t find it, and an old, grumpy man ask me "you ask for the street and walk, I don't have time to explain, I have an other call" The when finally can get there the old man said: "get out, every body is sleeping, your room will be at 1:00PM!!!!" The building was old, dirty. The water was "like coffee" The staff never have time to help you give you directions, maps, etc. I RECOMEND: NEVER GO TO VIRGILIO HOTEL!!!!!!!!!!!

Quite expensive for what it is. We really just used this hotel for when we flew into Italy, to get to La Spezia. The room was small - 2 single beds, sink, wardrobe. Clean. Nice breakfast, small but good. Friendly staff. Bathroom was across the hall. Good overall.

This is the hotel which I had the baddest impression ever. The reception was really unfrriendly and the had no hospitality at all, their attitude was disgusting. Though I had a confirmation for 2 nights, they insisted they did not give me confirmation from hotel (I did not have printed confirmation, just had venere confirmation) and they only had double room which costed twice of the booked room. As I was tired, I had no choice to accept it. This hotel must have similar problems always, I saw other couple disputing about their booking with the reception. I don't really recommend this hotel.

Filthy, filthy, filthy place. My room was so small and dirty and the cot was bumpy and old. The room was noisy and the shared bath gross! I got stuck in the elevator and the price was outrageous given the conditions of the hotel. Stay somewhere else for a few more euro. Breakfast was poor for the price, too.

Realmente por el Precio y la ubicacion el Hotel es bueno, Yo contrate todos mis hoteles por Venere, y en Venecia un hotel de la misma Categoria y con baño fuera de la habitacion y fue excelente en Limpieza, pero el de Milan realmente los baños eran patetico. this is a very bad hotel: 1.staffs were rude, they retained our passports for photocopies and only gave them back to us after half hour 2.lift was very small that could accommdate at most 3 people 3.breadfast was so poor that ony 1 bread and 1 hot drink were provided but charged for high price 4.breadfast room was so small that there were only 2 small tables under stair 5.the room was just like prison cell 6.they charged us a higher price per night than the price we reserved in internet. After quarrel, we could pay the orginial price. The photo gallery in internet is totally different from what I see in hotel. And this price is not worth for that poor quality.

I took a single room with toilet & for the price that I paid, I would say my room is good & as expected. The location of the hotel near the Central Station is my main priority & I had no problem dragging 2 of my suitcases from the Station to the Hotel, which is considered very near walking distance. I find the staffs friendly, particularly when I was checking out & needed a taxi desperately 2 days before Christmas, which was not easy in Milan. The man at the reception patiently dialled all the numbers he could get hold of for about 20 minutes & got me one, at last. For the price I was paying for the room, this extra service counts a lot.

I thought the hotel was very expensive, previous to my stay in Milan, I had booked three nights in Rimini costing 30€ per night which the facilities were so much better. I didn't have breakfast on the day of checking out (Milan) as I had to get to the airport for which I received no reduction from my bill.

This is a very bad hotel, which by European standards should not be allowed. Employees are completely incompetent and the hotel itself has a quirky atmosphere - from the language between some guests and the owner it was easy to infer some rooms are used for illicit purposes. The employees admitted belongings are stolen from the lobby of the hotel quite often. A place to avoid absolutely: just walk ten minutes towards east and the Corso Buenos Aires surroundings to find decent places to spend the night.

It is really noisy through the night when I stayed there only one night. I heared the man walking through the corridor, the lift climbed up and down all night (The room that I stayed in is just besides the lift). The thing I think is the worst is that one of the bathroom's light switches is outside the bathroom! Anyone can switch off the light when he don't know I was in!

I booked at this hotel because it was the cheapest offered at the time in Milan. I guess I got what I payed for because it was miserable: dirty, cramped, with an unhelpful and unfriendly staff. The only plus it that is was near the train station. The communal bathroom is literally a tiny little hole carved out of the hallway which is dark, cramped and probably dirty, though I couldn't really see enough to tell. There is no shower curtain or place to hang anything, and really the whole little hole got a shower. Maybe the more expensive rooms on the other floor that come with a bathroom actually have a shower curtain - but I wouldn't bet on it. Staff was not very nice. Pay more, get more - choose a better hotel.

(be careful, you have to wait 30 minutes at least for reaching a table and 20 minutes more for getting a service) breakfast is a very small italian breakfast (1 coffee and 1 bread with (old)butter and jum). surrounding is very poor. no restaurants (only the own one, but smells strong for aoli (not good for buisiness). silver pub in next door is nice, but the oly one. in direction to train station most cafes are tourist-falls. The rooms were very simple, but not extremely clean by any means. And there isn't that much space in the room. Everything is pretty squished in. The front desk staff person answered my questions, but he wasn't very friendly. And if I asked too many questions by his standard he would just get annoyed and be somewhat rude. For those that don't understand Italian, it may be a bit of a problem with the breakfast staff. I spoke a bit and could get by...but I could see that others were struggling.
