Ive stayed at this hotel several times & always find the staff welcoming & helpful. My only real issue is with the size of the double rooms which arent the biggest but for a short break isnt so much of a problem. The breakfast buffet is always plentiful & well stocked.Above all this hotel is in a great location 100 metres from Lima metro (Red line)& 15 minutes walk to the central station. All in all a great place to stay for a weekend break.

I have stayed several times at this hotel - it is unbeatable for value for money and location - not too far from the main station, near great shopping and only a couple of stops from Duomo. The only slight complaint I have is the very meagre breakfast - a little ham and cheese would be very welcome. However, I do realise that one can't expect too much for the price.

Excellent location, very near metro station Lima. English speaking. Main street is fantastic for window shopping. Not far from Central train station, you can even walk there. For the price, excellent breakfast. Will definitely come back. Thanks for the pleasant stay.

This is the first time I stayed in this hotel. The room was a bit noisy but clean. Good hotel, near the station and very close to the underground.

The photos on the site don't do this hotel justice. The rooms are quite basic but very clean comfortable and excellent for the price. The public areas are modern and clean. The staff are charming and frindly most of the time (sometimes at breakfast and elderly woman is serving and she can be grumpy)!! The breakfast itself is basic croissants/yougharts/tea/coffee etc. But great to have it included in the price. The building work described in other reviews is STILL ongoing and was very annoying one morning but we complained and the drilling didn't start 'til 10am the next day! The doors are quite thin so I would advise ear plugs for light sleepers. Though the hotel will be superb when it is finished. The hotel is located just off Corso Buenes Ares which has great shopping and is much better value than in the center of Milan!! The general area is reputed to be a bit dangerous but we didn't encounter anything remotely threatening. We found it perfectly safe even getting off the metro at night. You should take the usual precautions you would take traveling in any city at night. You can get to the Golden Quarter of Milan on foot in less that 20mins -> come out of the hotel go left for Corso Buenes Ares, then take a right onto Corso Buenes Ares, walk down to the major junction at the end of the road and cross over to the other side of it there is a beautiful park on the right that you can walk through. When you come out the other end of it you are right at the arches of the Golden Quarter and the city center. All metros, trams and buses use the same tickets and all are just 1euro regardless of distance (you can buy then in newsagents or at news stands). The "Lima" stop on the red metro line is just a couple of minutes from the hotel and takes about 10mins to get to the Duomo (4 stops). Centrale (the central bus and train station) is about 10minutes walk from the hotel as well, which is handy for the Orio airport bus (8.90euro) coming from Bergamo (i.e. Ryanair!

Friendly staff who spoke good English. Nice breakfast. There is a big remodeling project going on but it was quiet in the evening. Close enough to walk from the train station. I came from Venice so it was an adjustment to cuty traffic, noise, etc. A subway station is also close to get to the Duomo, Galleria, etc.

Good hotel in general though it can get quite noisy if you open the windows. Room is tight but all the necessities are there. Close enough (about 800 m) from Milano Centrale to walk (we took a taxi instead.) Very convenient to Lima Metro station. Unfortunately, the elevator wasn't working when we were there and had to lug our luggage up to 2nd floor.

As advertised, a basic budget hotel. It was adequate for our needs and the location was good. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant across the street was excellent.

The location is good. The elevator was broken and we had to bring up and down our own luggages to 3rd floor without any help. It is very noicy from the early morning as there was some construction at the back of the hotel and right in front of my window and also the thin wall could not block the voices from next doors, although my room was in the corner. Check it first before you book. Breakfast was not generous.

I appreciated the journey i spent in this hotel Good Things : 1// quality-price quota : end of august, I had a “twin+bb” room for 55euros 2// room looks exactly as on pics (see also www.hotelserenamilan.com) 3// rooms are very clean, bathroom too. 4// as indicated in the reservation : breakfast is really and totally included in the price, no further charges are taken there for the breakfast. 5// breakfast : simple and charming (especially hot bread made in the hotel, smells very good …) 6// staff of the hotel, are very sympathic, especially the guy at night, who gives best advices 7// this Hotel i sugest, for those who get in Milano for Shopping (near good commercial area) and for Football (the hotel, is close to the Lima Metro Station, which is served by Metro N°1, the same one who gets you until San Siro Stadium, which avoids you loosing time in transport for going to the stadium) Bad Things : 1// something quite common in both hotels in Italy in low season, always call the hotel before you go there, to check if there is maintenance works there … I did so, and the guy in the reception, confirmed me that it was the case !!! However, It wasn’t very disturbing at the End … 2// the rooms aren’t protected from noise, who cames from the corridor. When there’s someone who is moving in the corridor, you heart it as it was in your room !!! A bit uncomfortable when you want to sleep late …

The rooms size could be bigger, or the rate could be lower. However I think Milan is not exactly a cheap city anyway. The Serena is a basic hotel, but met my expectations: ensuite toillete, clean room, breakfast included. The surronding area is not the most beautifull, but is very practical for outlet shopping. The hotel y close to the Metro, the tram and 10 mins. walk from the main Train station.

We spent two nights in Serena and we are very satisfied with the stay. Good location just by the main shoping street. Hotel staff nice enough, rooms are very clean and spacious. Breakfest quit basic, but it's typical for that kind of hotels in Italy, but the view from the restaurant window very nice. We can definitly recomment this hotel.

qood choice for Milan as it is close to the station, the shopping areas and the old parts of the city - hotel is clean and comfty without special services that we didn't need as we were on short visit - breakfast was ok even though it was no big thing - price is acceptable as Milan is an expansive city - right now they do some renovation and therefore it is a bit noisy during the day (starting at about 9am)

The hotel is located in the northern center of the city and reachable in in only three subway stations. The hotel is located in a quite side street. Rooms have are very plain and spartan set. It remembers more of a hostel than a hotel. You should keep an eye on prices when booking via Venere since complains do not get along which an appropriate claims discounts / price reduction. In our case whe had to deal with a construction site in the yard. The hotel staff did not see any need informing us before checking in that it could be noisy in the morning. Even as we complained about the construction noises in the morning starting at 8:00 am we were called liars, since the hotel manager realised some noices only starting 10:00 am. The only surprise was that staff have closed the windows already at 9:00 am due to construction noises which has been unbearable in the attic. Even after a long and unpleasent discussion with the management neigher an apology nor a discound claim has been givern. We would not book this hotel again and only can advise on it.

This was my first time to Milan, and the hotel was not too far from the Central Train Station. Good location for local shopping and right near a Metro station. We have stayed at the hotel for the second time. They are reshaping the building and facilities so at 8 o'clock in the morning workers began to work. For that reason during the day was quite nosy! I think the employees should be more professional. The price/quality is somehow high but Milan is an expensive city. It is very well situated not very far from the old city and what is more important with a Metro round the corner and a good and not very expensive restaurant in front of the hotel

Very good location, close to the shops of Buenos Aires street, metrostation, supermarkets, restaurants. For those who don't like Italian food there is a good Indian restaurant close to Venezia metrostation. We were there in June 2009. Next to the hotel there was a renovation going on. After 8am we heard lots of noises. In general a good hotel for a good price.

È da diversi anni che frequento il Hotel Serena di Milano. È situato centralmente, vicino a stazione MM. Silenzioso e pulito.

The staff was wonderful, the room was clean and comfortable and would be a great value for the price if it weren't for the construction happening on the building, which we were unaware of at booking. The problem with this is the workers could (and would) look in our room window! and the banging started at 7am and lasted 'til 6pm, which is a problem if you have jet lag!!

Hotel was being renovated from the outside. But no working noise. Single room was very small and the TV didn't work properly. Service was friendly. Can't argue much about the price: 45 euro p. night.
Turkey, Apr 2009
Hotel Serena was the best hotel we stayed during our 11 day holiday in Italy. Although it has two stars the service provided was above my expectations. The staff can speak English very well. They welcomed us friendly. The room and its private bathroom were very clean and spacious. The location of the hotel is very near to Lima subway station and you can reach both Duomo and the railway station in 5-10 minutes. The neighbourhood is busy and safe but not disturbing. Breakfast was also very good. The only problem may be the fact that the hotel is being renovated and the sounds can be a problem for those who prefer to wake up late. The quality-price relationship must be one of the bests in Italy so I highly recommend this hotel.

Front desk was very nice and welcoming. A lot to be said especially for my first visit in Italy. However, the direction to this hotel is a bit off and in result, hard to find at night. Room was relatively clean and looked like quiet at first until more guests coming in, then it was hard to get back to sleep. Bathroom was okay. A nice update can definitely be used with the room. Bed wasn't comfortable to sleep in. Breakfast was good for selection and location as it was on a roof-top. Staffs working during breakfast can use a few more smiles, especially with non-native Italian speaker (like me).

Serena is a nice place with a friendly reception. The showers were kind of small, I'm 5'8" - 170lbs and whenever I moved in the shower, there would be a chance that I would knock the handle of the shower, either shutting off the shower, or hitting it and changing the temperature of the water. the rooms looked clean but I had an early flight and when I woke up, there were also some bug on the floor of the room, roach or something. However, the price was really cheap, and otherwise clean.

Hotel rooms were very clean but basic. Breakfast was excellent and overall service good. The restaurant recommended to us had good food but was the most disorganised I have ever been in and relatively expensive. Better rely on your guidebook for restaurants (we went to the 'Chandelier' nearby and had an excellent meal in stylish and unusual surroundings. The distance from Central Station is quite walkable unless you have very heavy luggage. Overall happy with the hotel and staff.

Ireland, Dec 2008
I have stayed at this hotel several times because the location is excellent and the value for money is almost unbeatable. The only two areas that could do with a little improvement are the breakfast, some ham or cheese would be nice, and the noise outside the bedroom door early in the morning from the cleaners. I was near the lift and from about 6am I was constantly disturbed by the cleaner dragging plastic bags of linen and towels until I eventually got up at 7.30am as it was impossible to sleep. I think this is only a problem if you are in a room near the lift as on previous stays, when I haven't been near the lift, I haven't been disturbed. I must say that I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone wanting a budget hotel in a good location for shops and restaurants and not too far from the main station. There is also an excellent restaurant directly opposite the hotel.

The room was quite small for 4 beds (it was like a two-bedded room with 4 beds). The view from the room was awful but it was quite quiet. The bathroom was nice and clean. The breakfast room located on the top of the building had quite nice view and eating breakfast while watching sunrise was considerably pleasant. The food was tasty. The staff recommended us a restaurant in which we paid 20% more than we ordered, so i don't advise anyone to ask for restaurant recommendations :). The only unpleasant thing that happened to us in Milan was that one of us got pickpocketed in Milan metro, so a BIG advice: keep your wallet in safe place or avoid crowded metros...

Overall thought hotel was excellent and great value for money. Initially welcoming was not that great but I think it is more a cultural thing, perhaps milanese mentality / not too comfortable towards overseas english speaking tourists (I try to be friendly and try to have a go at local language). But we were able to develop great relationship with owner and staff by time we left. I loved Milan and would like to come back. If so, I would't hesitate in going back to this great family run hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised. The room was clean and comfortable. Breakfast offered bread, pastries, yogurt, juice, milk, coffee - quiet adequate. Nearby restaurants were good. Proximity to Milan Central train station was our reason for staying at this location. While this neighborhood of Milan is said to be seedy, we felt rather comfortable walking to the hotel from the train station at night with our two younger children. The walk was a bit strenuous with our luggage, perhaps it would have been worth taking the suggested bus or tram.

Very central, nice, quiet but with small and dark rooms. We had a very good Venere (59 EUR for a double room) price so overall it was OK. Me and friend of mine were very satisfy with the hotel. Our very first impression wasn't so good because we made the destination late at night and the reception clerk didn't pursue to us. We had a very dissappointing welcome to the hotel. The receptionist was not very friendly (he argued)and he claimed to have all our passport in order to fill in the registration form. We had to leave them at the reception and he could not tell us when he would return the passports. Why could'nt we just fill in the registration form ourselves? Fortunately we received our passport before we left the hotel a couple of hours later. The room had air conditioning, but it stopped in the middle of the night and the room turned quit warm. The desk staff was very friendly and helpful; the woman in the breakfast room was gruff and unfriendly, though competent. The breakfast selection could be better. The hotel was well located and the map was helpful in finding it.

Lift was not working, unfortunately, but not a big deal. Very convenient to Via Buenos Aires. Staff very very helpful, with good English. Bathroom was very nice! Worst part was internet access: via hardwire, rented by the hour from front desk, was very very slow. Why not offer free WiFi?? We had to depart before breakfast started, but the breakfast room (4th floor) looked nice.

L'hotel è decisamente carino e rinnovato.

Serena is a perfect place to stay in Milan, both for business or pleasure. This was my 2nd stay at Hotel Serena, an I'm still quite enthusiastic about having it as a place to stay also in future/ Close to the central railway station and one of the major shopping streets, yet in a quiet street. Just a few steps from the underground station and a supermarket that offers a wide range of Italian specialities. A charming breakfast room on the top floor with a nice view of the Milanese roofs. Fine Pizzeria just across the street.

The guys at the reception desk speak fluent English. There is a nice restaurant just opposite to the hotel, worth to try!

Hotel location is good, just what we waited for. But the bathroom was stinking and moisturous, because the dusch spread water everywhere. Also the breakfastroom was disappointmnet; the terasse was not in use and there were ristrictions concerning coffee and the buffe. Also the going on renovation was noisy in the mornings. Using the breakfastroom terasse and the corridor balconies would make the hotel much more attractive.

This is a nice little hotel in a great location. One block away from the Via Buenos Aires, and two blocks from the nearest Metro station to get into central Milan, the Galleria Emanuelle Vittorio, and the Duomo. The staff is excellent, and treat you like family. As an American traveller, I was not used to the smaller size of the rooms, but the size is normal for Europe, so it was not a big issue. And the service and location more than made up for the room size.
