we were visiting our daughter on her study abroad program and were lucky to find this hotel 2 blocks from her apt. It was safe, clean, convenient to the subway, and we never had trouble with parking. The cost was reasonable for the location.

Despite being in front of a penitentiary, it's very well situated. It has supermarkets and restaurants nearby. Subway station is two blocks away and if you like walking you can go to Duomo Sq in less than 20 minutes. The staff is very polite and competent. The worst point about it is the noise inside the rooms. Too much noise from the street (my advice is to take some noise reduction ear plugs) and you can clearly listen to conversations from the room next door.

with a good price...you get the very very small room for smoker!!!! when you don't smoke it's not really convenient because of the smell. The location is not really interresting, nothing around. Googd point it's not that far from cenacolo vinciano.

I was stayed in single room at Hotel Sant'Ambroeus for five nights. It was less one night than I made reserved and prepaid before I staying. But there was no refund for less staying one night. Whether is ruled? Anyway, I got a good service from their employee. I was left my important documents when I checked out from the hotel. The counter sent the documents back to my country immediately. Thanks for their excellant service.

Dla krótkotrwałego pobytu w Mediolanie hotel jest znakomity, a przede wszystkim cena nie powala. Nie ma problemów z zaparkowaniem auta, a spod hotelu do centrum jeździ co 5 minut autobus nr 50.

We had a good stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The bathrooms well done, stocked with necessities. It is 250m from green metro-easy for transportation and not bad walk to Navigli district. The breakfast was wonderful!Ham,cheese,4 kinds of juices, cafe, breads, sweets ,yogurt, cereal, etc.Excellent!I chose this hotel because it was cheaper than the downtown hotels, yet accesible by the metro. Immediate area is not beautiful, but the walk to the metro is ok.We even took the Metro back late from the opera one night with no problems.I would recommend this hotel for anyone who wants to save some money and doesn't mind having to transport themself to the central historic area. At the desk, Vincent Fiore was extremely nice and courteous to us, and spoke English.Thank you Vincent!

Ottima posizione rispetto al centro città, struttura accogliente e personale disponibile a soddisfare qualsiasi richiesta, camera pulita, ottimo rapporto qualità/prezzo. Lo consiglierei a chiunque volesse trascorrere qualche giorno di vacanza in questa città ma anche a chi dovesse solo pernottare per motivi di lavoro come me.

Hotel web pages should display a location map showing directions from the nearest metro station and nearby landmarks such as supermarkets, eateries etc. That will help people locate the property quickly after reaching the station.

Very good value for money, especially in August when the city is dead. There is a market on the street every tuesday and saturday. Breakfast was poor and mainly consists of cold packaged food but I've soon discovered that Italian breakfast is different to American/English/Australian breakfast. Overall, good place to stay if you're on a budget but don't want to stay in a hostel.

The hotel was really good and the service provided was also excelent. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the breakfast has a lot of variety. You can have a security box for your money and the personal also inform you about location and public transport, etc. The only thing that I have to complain is that I have ask the employee to make me a phone call at 5 am, because I have to take a Train to Munich, and I didn´t want to loose it, and he forgot. Fortunately, I didn´t miss it, but it was his responsability, and he didn´t make it. For the rest, it is an excellent hotel, very near to the subway, and I certainly recommend you.

Good choice for a budget accommodation. The hotel is close enough to the Metropolitana (underground system), about two blocks away or less. Breakfast was very basic, consisted mostly of prepackaged food, but at least had the option of a nice cappuccino. The real downside was the air conditioning of the room, which was very weak. Fortunately for us the weather wasn't so bad and we could have some good night sleep. Leaving the window open is not really an option because of the noise you can get from the streets. You have to leave your passports when check-in for registration purposes only, and pick it up later (we did it about half an hour later). Some people may feel uncomfortable doing this, that's why I think is important for you to know it. The staff was very helpful and friendly, we needed some direction and they explain us the best way to get to that place from the hotel. They also speak english, if you think your italian is not very good ;-)

It was a quite nice hotel with a friendly and helping personel and a very good relationship price/quality. The breakfast served was of a very good quality. The rooms were very clean and pleasant but the one we stayed, whiche was viewing the street was quite noisy, due to works in progress. The only incosistency between the web pages and the hotel situation is that it is NOT in the centre of the city. You need more than half an hour's walk to the Duomo, but still there is a metro station very close to the hotel. In any case it was a nice hotel which we would recomend.

Nice small hotel, the breakfast is OK, except there are too many sweets and limited ham/cheese offered. Location is good, even though there is a prison in front of it. Pizza restaurants and the city center are within 15 minutes walk and underground is a couple of hundred meters away.

I found the reception very friendly and helpful and location is easy access with public transportation to downtown and other locations within the city. Air conditioning needs to improve if hot weather is encountered. The close supermarket made it easy to pick up few items for a hungry bunch. Overall the hotel is a good bargain for the money paid and it will be better in used in the winter because of poor air conditioning.

Our stay at this hotel was just okay, not great but then its a 3* hotel, and provides all the basic needs such as a comfortable bed, clean bathroom and adequate breakfasts(if you don't leave going down till 10.20am). The one complaint i would have about the rooms would be about the showers which consisted of a curtain around a part of the floor with the plug in, which made it quite easy to flood the bathroom if having a shower. The staff at reception were friendly and helpful.

The price is reasonable. If you just look for bed and breakfast and spend most of your time shopping and sightseeing in Milan, we would highly recommend to stay here as it is quite near a metro station. Also, there are a lot of restaurants along a street which still open till midnight (within 15 minutes walk from the hotel). There is an ideal dinning place for us (shopholics!!!). Moreover, there is a large supermarket opposite to the hotel which is very convenient. We are going to stay in this hotel in our coming trip to Milan!

I was very surprised that this hotel counted as a 3 start hotel, I would put it closer to a low 2 star. The room was very small, but did have all amenities listed. When I opened the heavy window shade (a metal shutter that slides up or down) a long clump of dust fell on my face. As I was looking out the window, the shutter slid back down and hit my head. The neighborhood is horrible. There is a reason that the exterior photo of the hotel is cropped very closely to the edges of the hotel. The "trade fair" that is mentioned is a flea market that runs the length of the two streets near the hotel. Once the sun set, there was so much trash left from the market (plastic bags and boxes mainly) that the one Polizia car and one garbage truck each were at each block picking it all up into the night. There is graffiti and trash everywhere. For anyone that's ever been to San Francisco, it's like taking a vacation in the Tenderloin. The combination of the neighborhood and the quality of the room prompted us to leave Milan a day early, paying 75 euro for the second night regardless of the fact that we weren't going to be there. I would not return to this hotel and would not recommend it to others.

In general, the hotel was what I expected. The room was definitely rather small, though. The bathroom was clean and obviously renovated not a very long time ago. The quietness of the room certainly left place for improvement. The breakfast consisted mainly of prepacked products so it was an easy choise to skip the whole thing in the morning.

+ The members of hotel staff were quite friendly and spoke pefect English. They helped us with our trip to Monza to see the F1 GP. + There is an underground train station about 3 min down the road though which was handy. The room was quite nice but there was only a shower in the bath which was faulty. There was also no safe in the room. - The breakfast was very disapointing. Not much to choose from and what was there wasn't very nice. - Our room was situated on the outside of the hotel which meant it was quite noisy. - The surrounding area is also quite scruffy, there is a prison accross the road also. - There isnt many places for food of a night time unless you walk for some distance. it also doesn't feel that sfe there, all the hotel/house windows in the area have metal shutters on them and the place is full of grafiti. - It also took about 30 mins minimum to walk to the town centre/Duomo. We are young fit people and walked at a decent pace too.

The hotel was not where shown on the map we printed from the Venere booking. We eventually found the road it was on by telephoning them. The hotel was clean, quiet (although on a main road) and good value for what it was. Receptionists all spoke English and were helpful. Rooms were adequate size but no more. Television and minibar in the rooms. About 20 minutes' walk to the centre and Milan Cathedral - we found everywhere we wanted to go was walkable. Car parking is on the public roads, but you can get free space if you are fortunate; some road parking is by payment only. All in all, it was what we were expecting, was in a good location for looking around Milan and the staff friendliness made it an enjoyable stay.

We found the Sant’Ambroeus to be an excellent hotel in its star rating and price range. On arrive the Staff were welcoming and very helpful. The hotel is conveniently located only 400 yards from the main Line 2 (Green Line) Metro station Sant’Agostino which has direct links to the Central Train Station and other lines to the heart of the city. For those with restless children there is also park a few hundred yards from the hotel. The quality of the breakfast provided was excellent and served in a spacious restaurant area. The bar staff were also accommodating and were available to serve drinks past midnight which was exceptional as one of our friends arrived very late in the evening. For those that enjoy the night life the local canal side (25 min walk) bars and restaurants offer an excellent evening out.

I actually was sent by Sant'Ambroeus to Hotel Ascot because they were overbooked. So not too much comment on Sant'Ambroeus's service level. But regarding the environment of Sant'Ambroeus, there is a flea market in front of it, so supposely very noisy. And it is not very close to the city centre, you will have to take the subway.

We arrived to find a prison right across the street. This was a bit of a shock, but not the end of the world. When we entered the building we were greeted by the reception clerk who was not exactly pleasant. We continued on to our room to find that it was right next to the elevator which we heard all night and all morning until we left. The room was tiny but ample enough to sleep in and had the aroma of a dirty ashtray. Breakfast was nice, but not in the room pictured on the website. It was in less formal room with plastic lawn chairs. The price of this hotel was the only thing good about this hotel.

The hotel is, as advertised, very near a metro station (very easy to use in Milan) and about 20 minutes walk from the centre, c. ten minutes from the Navigli area (and just outside there is a very popular market on Saturdays, a supermarket over the road, several bars and pizzerias just next door - not a bad area, if not exactly bang in the centre...) The hotel itself is very good value for the money. We paid 95 euros midweek per room. This includes a very substantial buffet style breakfast with a lot of choice (nothing hot apart from the drinks, though) and a room with satellite TV (including one English Language film channel) a decent bathroom, and an efficient maid service. Reception was staffed by English speakers, and they managed to add a night on at the quoted rate, in spite of the fact that I had made the original mistake in booking dates. All in all, highly recommended

Sant Ambroeus is a long way from Milan Centrale Stazione (€15 by taxi) and not as close to Duomo and art centres as described. The view from rooms on the front is of some sort of prison and depending upon your floor (we were on 3rd), visiting times mean guards on the wall watch you vigorously as you lean out of the window for a cigarette. The rooms are "suitable", pretty clean and have nice showers. A little cramped and certainly not of a 3star quality you'd expect. There's a bar, but no restaurant for afternoon / evening food, DESPITE the in room info talking about Room Service !! Breakfast is standard fayre, clean and confortable, but cramped. Coffee, as in most Italian hospitality, isn't provided in your room and you have to ask for it at breakfast. THIS IS MILAN though so like any large tourist city (compare with Liverpool or London!!) this is about as good as €130 per night will get you... Staff are very freindly, excellent English (but everyone appreciates if you at least TRY your Italian), reception staff are happy to give you directions, maps and call a taxi etc, they'll even give you a razor if you're caught short. Taxi drivers need the street name to recognise the hotel, so keep your booking details handy. There's a very busy supermarket just over the road that might come in handy and apparently a Metro underground stop very nearby (we were never brave enough). We were so tired after the Formula One weekend in Monza that we were just glad of the confy beds and nice shower, but I won't be returning to St Ambroeus unless I'm desperate.

The Saint'Ambroeus Hotel is a nice 3* hotel. It is important to realize that the hotel is NOT located in the city center. It takes about 30 mins walking to the Piazza Duomo, but you can also take the metro ofcourse. The stop is only 300m from the hotel, tickets are cheap and the ride takes appr. 7 mins. The hotel is very convenient if you come to Milano by car. We reached Milano from the north (Switserland) and afer you enter the ring road ("tangenziale") you just have to find the right exit (Lorenteggio) and than the road gets you straight into the city. Just drive straight ahead, and you'll find the hotel easily! The second good thing is that you can park your car directly in front of the hotel, for free! Things like that make a tourist happy, right? About the hotel itself. We got an internet rate of EUR 50 for a single and EUR 75 for a double. Good prices for a 3*, right? The welcoming was fairly good, the staff spoke well English (although I spoke Italian ;-) and although we were one day early, it was no problem to host us for the extra night, for the same price (incl. breakfast). No luggage assistance, it's no 5* ofcourse. So up you go with your suitcases, in the tiny elevator! No modern key cards but traditional heavy keys... hey, siamo in Italia! Nice rooms, not too small, and although the hotel is located along a busy street, the windows wouldn't let in much noise. Perfect. The TV brings up a bunch of Italian channels, CNN and BBC World. No Eurosport unfortunately. There's also a mini-bar available for drinks. Bathroom is ok, nothing special, no glasses but plastic cups, here's something to improve. Lots of towels and reasonably clean, could be slightly better though. Breakfast was certainly ok, fresh breads, enough stuff to choose from. Must say though that on the pics it all looks a bit more luxurious than it is in reality. That's why I won't give this place a 9 out of 10, but I have to stick around the 7.5 or 8. In about 10 mins walking

A clean and pleasant hotel, with friendly, helpful and efficient staff. Rooms are functional, although small, but well maintained. Front facing rooms can be very noisy, although those at the rear are fine. Overall, good value for money.

The hotel location was quite nice as was the welcome when we signed in. Station is close as is staturday market and 10-15 min walk to the main eating area. Where the food was great. The Main problem was the Noise as the room was facing the main road. Also the aircondition for the room was not working so opening the windows made the room noise worse. We were informed that it was because this was centrally controlled. Room was small but had all the aminities you would need.
