Spent 3 nights here. Quite small room, but with a beautiful balkony to garden side. Very quiet and a very good breakfast.

Arrived late via train and took taxi to hotel. Had we done our homework better and known the main station was relatively close we might not have taken the taxi (a bit of a rip off). Hotel was on a main street and easy to find. Attendant was very helpful and got us into a twin room (just as pictured) which was nice and spacious. Though it was for only night we quite enjoyed the extra space (large bathroom and small but sufficient living room). Hotel was perfectly located to a self-serve laundry which we desperately needed. Great value for the price.

We stayed at this hotel for three nights. The staff were consistently helpful and friendly. The hotel is a very basic one, on the verge of being two stars instead of three, but the room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was adequate (although I'd stay away from the juice). It is not centrally located, but there are two metro stops nearby that will take you to the centre in about 15 mins.

We spent qne night in this hotel and it was awful. Room is ok for one night, but shower is terrible, to get hot water you have to wait about 10 min, but even after you cant shower well because water spreds all round but you. Will never stay there again. This hotel shouldn't be 3 star, not mor then 1.

Stay 2 nights in a single room, room was small but as I was paying (not Corporate travel) I did not mind. Hotel is positioned between two Metro stations and had a great continental breakfast (with a view of rear garden). Quiet back facing room and for €60 it was half my corporate hotel I used during the week. A week later I stayed at another hotel for €55 Euros + NO breakfast and it was SIGNIFICANTLY poorer value, SIGNIFICANTLY NOISIER TOO!

The bed was old and uncomfortable and the shower and toilet were ackward to use. The location with reasonable access to the train station was the reason we stayed there. The breakfast was a good value and the hotel and rooms were clean.

Loved it. It's not the Ritz, but the rooms were clean and tidy and my room had a big terrace looking over the back garden. The back garden was lovely for breakfast. The price was very reasonable and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hotel San Francisco to anyone. My only complaint was they didn't have an iron. Also there is a pizza place near the hotel that was just amazing! Pizzeria Vecchia Napoli Di Francavilla M.& C.Sas. Via Chavez Giorgio, 4

Hotel San Francisco offers very good value for the price. The single room I stayed in was not huge, but totally sufficient for me. It even had a balcony with a view to the garden in the back. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the typical italian breakfast with a fresh brioche and individually prepared cappuccino was very good.

Il soggiorno è durato 4gg. Tutto ok. Silenzioso. Stanza non molto grande. Vista sul giardino interno molto rilassante. Vale più di tanti altri hotel 3 stelle che ci sono in giro.

Hotel is well located, just 10 minutes from metro or 40 minutes walk from the Dome. Rooms nice and clean. Receptionists used to recommend very nice restorants nearby. The only negative impression is about breakfast - it could certainly be better. Overall, we will certainly come here again.

Very nice hotel, quiet street, pretty courtyard for breakfast, pleasant English speaking staff. We'd definitely stay there again. An easy way to get to the hotel: take the #33 streetcar from the front of the Milan Centrale train station, headed east, and get off at the corner of Via Porpora and Viale Lombardia. The hotel is a half-block south on Viale Lombardia. Otherwise, it's a 12 block walk from the station. Streetcar is 1 Euro; get ticket in the train station.

Our first impression of the hotel was not too good. But the room was very comfortable, clean with its own veranda. We enjoyed the stay very much. The only thing which maybe could be better was the breakfast. Coffee was made individually with the espresso machine .. only butter and jam .. . But compared to the price the location of the hotel is central and really recommendable.

We prefer rooms where people have not smoked recently. We are aware that the rooms are nominally non-smoking but this has to be enforced. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay very much and may well return with even more friends!

You get what you pay for--small simple rooms--at a very reasonable price. It's not a place to come for romance or beauty--its clean and functional with a very helpful staff.

This hotel was reasonably priced and offered clean rooms. The garden was a haven from the heat of Milan and the hustle and bustle of the big city. But the best part about this facitlity is the service from the front desk. It was if we were staying at a five star hotel! Georgia and Pino were helpful in finding great food, shopping, historical sites or anything else we asked of them. What a treasure they both were.

The hotel was well-situated for my visit to the Politecnic. The reception staff were most kind and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable and large enough for a short stay. The garden was an added bonus, if only the spring had really arrived.

Every member of the San Francisco staff was friendly, conscientious and helpful. This may not be the largest room in Milan or the most extensive breakfast buffet in Italy, but I had a very pleasant stay. The croissants and rolls were fresh, the cheeses delicious and, whether I asked for cappuccino or tea, I received it with a smile and an offer for a second cup. The room was clean with an extra blanket; when the light outside my door went out, it was replaced within five minutes. All information that I was provided about the local Metro, day trips by train or La Scala tickets was accurate and provided efficiently. I felt safe and welcome each day of my stay and I would recommend it to others who are not expecting luxury and want to spend their money on the sights, the arts and culture and the great shopping of Milan.

La pulizia non è forse la migliore caartteristica della struttura. Molte volte la cattiva impressione è data dal fatto che l'hotel non è recentissimo. In generale tuttavia non è da escludere un mio ritorno, vista la cordialità delle persone che vi lavorano.

On September 17, 2005 my sister and I traveled to Italy, from Detroit, Michigan to discover our Italian roots. We instantly had a good feeling about the San Francisco Hotel. The lobby was clean and polished, the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. They spoke some English, and we spoke, some Italian. Georgia, the hotel employee gave us a map of Milano with our hotel, and points of interest circled. Our room #32 was clean and quiet with a large comfortable bed, and a balcony over looking a lushly landscaped courtyard. The private bath had plenty of hot water and a hair drier mounted on the wall. The hotel is located in a quiet residential/commercial district with other hotels and a few restaurants within walking distance. An internet point was available on the lobby floor for 6 euros per hour, which we used to find our next hotel through venere.com in the Lake Como area. We were so pleased with the San Francisco Hotel that we stayed there again on the night before our return flight back home. We highly reccommend the San Francisco Hotel for your next stay in Milano.

The hotel was all together okay. Mostly clean but the wall to wall carpet in our room had traces of many other guests. All hotel room prices in Milano where quite high. Our room at that price somewhere else I would consider as expensive.

I think this hotel was a great value for the money: the staff was friendly and helpful, the hotel was reasonably close to a metro station, the rooms were comfortable and clean, good breakfast and use of a computer with high-speed internet available for a fee. I would definitely stay again!

The Hotel is worth to stay as it is very convenieince. There is a pub near to PIOLA Metro station where you can find buffet dinner with just Euro$4. If you go to LORETO Metro Station, there is a very busy street which is excellent for shopping.

Excellent choice, room spacious, lovely garden, decent price. Only down side, the usual sad and poor breakfast almost unavoidable in Italy... Una ottima scelta, la stanza bella spaziosa, un bel giardino sul retro, un prezzo adeguato. L'unica pecca la solita scarsa e triste colazione che ti rifilano negli alberghi italiani...

Friendly staff, helpful with any questions or concerns. Rooms were small, though as I only paid 52 Euro and did not spend the day in the hotel, i could care less. Bathroom appeared clean though it had not been redone in some time. There are several rooms with and without bathrooms, make sure you pick what you want. Also, if the other guests are loud (as italians usually are) you will hear when they wake up--doors opening and closing. About a 5 - 10 minute walk from the nearest Metro. The breakfast is also very good for the price (bread, yogurt, milk, coffee, OJ, fruit, cheese etc). If I had to be in the same area again, for the same price, I would definately consider it. Though i would bring earplugs.

Hotel San Franciso was clean and in a decent location. Breakfast was good and we really appreciated the kind lady who still made us coffee even though we got there a little later than the breakfast cutoff time! The service was good, they recommended some restaurants and allowed us to store our baggage while we explored the city for the day, even though we had already checked out of the hotel.

Room was adequate and clean, but it was very noisy at night. Not because of the neighborhood, but because of the air vent system in the building. The garden in the back was not well maintained and the staff were helpful, but not especially well informed. For example, they could not tell me what numbers to dial to get an outside line. Overall a good deal but not a great hotel.
