It is far from sights but very close to train station. Nothing bad, but nothing outstanding either...is an average hotel and OK for the price...

This hotel is a good deal off-season. Less so (though not bad) during the busy season. It's surrounded by interesting restaurants, etc. Very close to the subway. Relatively convenient to Malpensa airport (take the subway 3 stops, then take the Malpensa Express train at Cadorna).

The hotel really is steps from the metro and so very convenient for almost everything, although not as close to the convention center at Fiera Milano as it looks on the map. There are nice cafés right next to it, as well as restaurants nearby, and a grocery store, and these were open even in August when so much is closed. The main drawback is that one really can hear the subway trains from the rooms, at least those on the first floor that face onto the street. It would have been completely intolerable (unable to sleep in spite of earplugs) except for the fact that the summer schedule has no trains between 12:30 and 6:40 or so. As I was at a conference, I needed to be up early anyhow. For a vacation it would not have worked. Unfortunately, the renovated rooms are precisely those facing onto the street which have the subway noise. The first night there were no single rooms available so I was given a double in the unrenovated wing, which was quiet, but the rooms really really need work. The carpets in these rooms and halls do not inspire confidence and gave a bad first impression of the hotel. The renovated rooms are attractive and quite acceptable, but if you do stay here, try to get one on a higher floor.

As a single woman traveler this hotel was perfect. Located less than a minute walk from the subway station stop in a safe area, I would recommend this hotel for any type of traveler that is looking to explore the city and still have a safe and clean place to come back to. Breakfast was great, price was reasonable and service was very accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

Website has excellent instructions for arriving to hotel from Tren Italia station. A little far from downtown but hotel being right at Metro station makes commuting a breeze. The fact that you need to use the Metro constantly means traveler must be very careful with belongings especially when carrying luggage. (I had luggage in both hands and backpack on my back, but was with friend at Metro station so we let our guards down. Sure enough, my wallet was stolen from my backpack without either of us noticing until too late.)

Room was as advertised. No frills. Good until about 5 am when a car alarm was repeatedly set off and reset for about 30 minutes. At around 6 am garbage collection started and that noise lasted 15 minutes. Witnessed a lady stealing shoes from a shoe store just around the corner from the hotel and being dragged back into the store. Other than these items it was a good stay. Metro just a block away was handy.

Old Hotel in nice area Carpets are so stained that I did not remove my shoes the entire timI was there. Air Conditioer barely worked. The staff just ok. Late night crew better but kept promising stuff and didn't deliver anything. The Breakfast was poor too. Good location upscale neighborhood. A better choice is Hotel NASCO on Corso Siempre. Not by a train stop but Trams will take you anywhere. Staff great and hotel is clean and Breakfast is top notch. all for the same price.

Hotel staff was very helpful with touring, restaurant and other information. This hotel had been recommeded by a friend and we too would stay here again, and also recommend it to others. Some street noise below our window, but not a problem. We took an airport train into the city, then the metro to the hotel, and the metro to the train station upon leaving, but it was easy to make the connections.

We stayed in Milano just for one night to watch a concert. The hotel location is very convenient and easy to find. Breakfast is included in the room fee (we could not believe this and had to ask 3 different concierges!!). Overall very good value for money. The staff working in the reception may seem a bit stiff and uncaring but we were prepared for this based on previous reviews... They kindly helped us whenever we asked for assistance with maps, luggage etc, however perhaps without "warm" attitude. That+s OK though. The hotel has a luggage room for storing your bags. There is a great indoor market across the street from the hotel where we bought very nice cheeses and sausages to bring back home!

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Nuovo Marghera for a week during the winter holidays. Although the hotel is quite far from the city center, the subway station (Wagner, on the red line) is two steps away from the entrance and the metro will take you virtually anywhere in ten minutes or so (beware of the subway stations in Milan in winter, it's really colder insider than outside!). The room and bathroom are ok, though they would need some refurbishment (especially the walls and the moquette). But overall they're fine, spacious enough (at least by European standards), clean and with all the necessary amenities (AC, TV, mini-refrigerator, telephone, hair-dryer, shampoo, toothbrush etc.). The rooms are cleaned every day and they also change the bedsheets daily. But beware, the cleaning ladies are usually very loud, they woke us up every morning at 8 or 9. Some guests can also be really loud, especially if they're Italians :). The rooms would definately benefit from a soundproof equipment. Breakfast is included and is served from 7.30 to 9.30, which was too early for us, so we never actually had breakfast in the hotel (you can also have your breakfast served in your room, if you prefer it like that). But there is a host of restaurants, cafes, pastry shops, pizzerias etc. just outside the hotel. In fact, the whole area where the hotel is situated is just great! You have very many nice shops, restaurants, cafes, a market place, a supermarket, a pharmacy, and pretty much anything you could possible want or need just a few steps away from the hotel. It's a really nice neighbourhood and if I were to visit Milan again, I would choose the Nuovo Marghera again! So, I would recommend it to anyone who isn't searching for luxury, but for a comfortable and clean stay in a really pleasant area.

This is the third time I've used this hotel and I like it inasmuch as it is clean, the staff are fairly friendly (they recognise me now) and it is nice and close to the Wagner metro stop. It's also only 100 metres from a tram stop that will take you to the Duomo. If the price stays the same I will definitely be using it again. If you only need a bed for a couple of nights it's perfect.

Really good value for money hotel, in an excellent location (very close to the tube station, bars and general services). The hotel room that we were given was a good size, very clean and good quality. The only disappointing part was the breakfast. The room is very small and as the hotel was full it was quite busy. However the hotel staff were nice and accommodating. I would definately stay again.

We had a ground floor room. You could hear the trains running past the hotel, and the floor would vibrate a little. We could not change to another room as the entire hotel was fully booked. Luckily, we only stayed for a night. The hotel is very near a metro station, and there are a good number of restaurants nearby. Breakfast was not very satisfactory, although it was included in the price of the room. I would not recommend the hotel to someone who value quietness.

We were there two nights and I guess we had a budget room in the ground floor which didn't correspond with the picture in the Venere web page at all. Basically quite clean room but the sound of subway and shower next door were a bit disturbing. You should go to breakfast early because they don't fill the tables very often. The staff was very helpful and subway is next to the hotel. Decent quality vs. price.

I very much enjoyed my stay at the "Hotel Nuovo Marghera." The hotel is located a few feet away from the "Wagner" station of Metropolitana making for a good connection to downtown Milan. The staff was courteous and helpful. My single room was in excellent condition. The housekeeping was very efficient. There is a "Punto Sma" grocery store around the courner and a "Mondadori" book store a block and a half away. The value was good, and I would definitely stay here again.

The location is excellent if you plan on using the underground. There is a stop (Wagner) on the corner of the hotel's street. This can be really convenient if you're exhausted from touring the city all day and just want to get back to the hotel for a rest. The rooms aren't great, but they're clean and serve the purpose. The staff is friendly and helpful. The most memorable thing about our stay at this hotel was the breakfast. It's not much by American standards, but the bread and coffee were good which can make all the difference with a long day ahead. I'd like to note that the service provided by the breakfast attendants was excellent. Do remember to bring mosquito repellent because there are several and more than likely there will be some flying around your room regardless of where you stay.

We stayed for 4 nights. Make sure that you are not located to the rooms on the ground floor (room number 4xx), which are horribly old and noisy, and nothing like the pictures on the Web. After complaining, we were moved to room 302, which is spacious and airy. Breakfast was very nice. Very convinient for public transportation. 10 minutes walk to the Last Supper and a further 5 minutes takes you to Cardona Station. Supermarket and McDonald's are just round the corner. I would have given it a overall 9+, but because of the unpleasant first two nights, a 6 is the final mark. Again, any other room is much better than those on the ground floor.

Consigliabile.

Hotel Nuovo Marghera is located 30 metres from the Metro which is excellent. The room is small but adequately equipped. The breakfast which comes as a package is rather unexciting but one wouldn't expect too much for the price. Perhaps my only complaint is about the daily housecleaning which involved towels and bed sheets being piled up on the floor in the narrow passageway leading to the lift. We had to climb over the sheets to reach the other side which was a bit annoying. Nonetheless this is a hotel that I would recommend to anyone on a budget because of its location.

This place doesn't look like much when you walk up to it, but it definitely is better than it looks. Even so, you're basically paying for what amounts to a low-budget Super 8 Hotel in America at the rate of about $170 a night for a two-person room. We got to the hotel early because of our flight time and had to sit around for hours waiting for our room to be ready. In the meantime they started letting other people in their rooms before giving us ours. I had to ask and the guy acted like we hadn't been sitting there for five hours waiting for our room. Despite starting off on a bad note, our stay there was pleasant. The location is great, right in the heart of Milan (not that there's much to do there). The room was cleaned daily, but the beds were old and instead of a double bed it was two singles pushed together. The shower was so small you couldn't raise your arms up to wash your hair. It's just the way most hotels are in Italy. There was air conditioning and a little TV with just three English-speaking channels. If you stay here ask for room 302 as it has a small balcony that overlooks the city. This place isn't nice by any stretch of the imagination, but it's not a dump, either. It's clean, centrally located, and has all the necessities for travellers. There was free breakfast, but just at all the other hotels in Italy, it amounts to rolls, some sandwich meat, and juice and coffee. I had honestly thought the hotel would be worse than it was, so I guess in the end we were pleasantly surprised. The front desk was definitely helpful and all of them spoke english pretty well--even the late night guys.

This very up-to-date but small hotel is right on the most important Metro line for tourists, several yards from the Wagner stop. The staff is all fairly young and always busy chatting with friends, but very competent and very nice. The room we had was on the back side, third floor, double near the elevator. VERY quiet. Small, and small bath, but perfectly suitable for us, both well into our 60s. The breakfast is wonderful - muesli, breads, yogurt, croissant, any kind of coffee. Boxed juice just OK but at least there is juice. At the price and location a real value and highly recommended.

The refurbished rooms are very nice and the mattresses are really comfy. the shower is powerful and relaxing: not trickling water but a full force stream. The common breakfast area is quite small. Small tables and loads of people don't make it easy to have a relaxed breakfast. All in all a nice place worth the money, very close to Wagner metro station. Enjoy!

It was our second time in Milan and though last time we stayed 5 minutes walk away from Duomo I think this time we enjoyed our stay more. It only takes 10 minutes by tram to Duomo (it was Sunday so no traffic) (200m from hotel is the stop) and other 10 minutes by metro (50m to the underground station Wagner). The renovated room we got was at the back yard so it was very quiet and had more facilities than we expected (even slippers). The bed was the best we slept in our whole trip in Italy and the shower was a wonderful experience. The best part was the breakfast which contained beyond the fresh juices, the perfect capuccino and the cereals with yogurt or milk, also prochuto, cream cheese, fresh roll breads and wonderfull pastries and cakies. The hint of our stay was the dinner we had at the restaurant Novecento 5 minutes walk from the hotel and the best ice-cream in the world in the gelateria Marghera. Thank God we didn't trust the afternoon receptionist who recommended the restaurant Drop-in across the street and the gelateria by the corner (the owners are his friends maybe because these were the only ones empty in a crowded area?) and followed our instict so we had a real Milanese night with so many young Milaners around us. The area is superb and it was a shame we left early in the morning and we didn't have time to visit the nearby boutiques. Thank you for finding this hotel for us! (the only slight problem is the noise of the metro passing underneath the hotel, like a small earthquake but we didn't notice it until 8 o' clock in the morning when we woke up-and the room was quite warm although the day was rainy and cool enough but it was May so we didn't turn on the a/c,we just left the window open)

They didn't give us double bed.In the room there was one door (main door), one door for the toilet and one more? locked. Finally was middle door of another room. So at 2.00 in the middle of the night, came customers!!!!! We didn't sleep all night...

Very nice and friendly staff. Hotel is located very close to an underground station and getting to the city center takes but 10 minutes. There is WIFI Internet connection but it's quite expensive.

The carpet throughout needs to be replaced as it's very dirty and worn. Two of us traveled and had one key, so we opened the door with a credit card. The dead bolt did not work, so we were a little worried when we were in the room that someone could easily get in. Two policemen in the lobby were talking to the front desk which makes me wonder if security is a problem. Room decor is old. Lift is tiny. Great location for subway.

Very thin walls, but quiet neighbours. Capert on the floor needs renovation. Breakfast to satisfy everybody. location in few steps from underground, shops with democratic prices and food market.

I stayed in this hotel from 29December - 5th January and it was a really good choice. I think these hotel reviews are very useful - I had chosen my hotel according to these. I got a very nice, comfortable, new-style-furnished, warm single room - it was cleaned every day and I got new body lotion, shoe polish, soap, tissues etc. every day. The hotel is very close to the metro - as stated everywhere, which is a bit of a disadvantage, too, because in the evening it's a bit noisy, but at the end I got used to it. Breakfast was very versatile, there were lots of things I could choose from, and coffee was the best I had ever drunk before! The staff was extremely kind, the receptionists knew my name and key number from the beginning. I had a very pleasant stay there, if I ever go back to Milan, I will definitely choose this hotel.

Very good value for money, excellent location, very convenient for metro & tram, nice area with plenty of restuarants nearby. Particularly good if you are going to the San Siro as we were. Very helpful reception staff, day 7 night. Two negative points: 1. The rooms advertised on the web are the renovated rooms. We got an 'old' room, twin rather than double. It was OK but not what had attracted us to the hotel. 2. Breakfast area is very small and with a finishing time of 09.30 it was crowded every morning, leading to certain items running out. Would use it again but insist on a renovated room.

We had a great time here. The reception staff were friendly and breakfast was nice especially the coffee! They also gave us great info on how to get to our next destination and the we were able to buy our train tickets with ease! Great help. Very close to metro and only a few stops from the centre of town! We had dinner at a lovely restaurant not far away called Happiness... big servings! We recommend that too!

The room was not that spacious, unlike the pictures on the website and the lighting was quite dark. The breakfast was delicious and complete, not simply coffee and a croissant as we encountered elsewhere in Italy. I would definetly consider staying at this hotel again.

My husband and I stayed for 2 days (23.Oct - 25.Oct.07).Hotel's location is great - right at Wagner metro station (very convenient if you have a lot of luggage) and surrounded by nice shops, restaurants and market. The hotel is only 10 min from Duomo by metro. Staff was very friendly and helpful, and service was professional. All of them spoke English. We came straight from the airport with a lot of luggage, well before the check in time but the gentleman at the register let us leave the luggage in the hotel and even helped us carry the bags to the storage room. We found the breakfast choices very nice and the cappuccino and pastry served, great. We had a double room which was specious and quiet, facing the back yard .Bathroom was clean. The only confusing thing we found was the drinks in the fridge - we thought they were complimentary since there was nothing on the fridge door but it turned out we had to pay for them. I would recommend notifying the guests upon register or having a note on the fridge door with the prices quoted for the items in it. We had a wonderful time in Milan and would gladly stay at Nuovo Marghera again!

Wonderful location, shops, restauramt, cafes, gelaterie. Nice rooms, my was facing a courtyard so was not noisy, internet is available in the rooms, for 6 euro and 50 cents, drinks in the fridge for not crazy prices. I did not try breakfast. Good ratio price vs quality. to be perfect, it would need minor improvements. I raccomend it.

Room was clean, attractive, and well-equipped... but definitely quite small by american standards. My room didn't have wireless internet available as it was in the back, so I had to bring my computer downstairs to check email. If internet in room is important to you, then you should specify when you make the reservation, for me it wasn't a big deal. Breakfast was excellent. Good front desk help that usually spoke workable english. Excellent neighborhood. All in all a very good value and a comfortable hotel. Only gripe was, they should invest in cleaning the carpets in the common areas! But really that is a minor quibble.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel very much. The room I stayed was very clean and comfortable. The only thing that I disliked was having to pay for internet, but the rate was not bad for one day of use. And there seemed to be an minor issue with the television channels - - the sound and signal would cut out for a moment every now and then. Overall, this hotel was a great place to stay with a great location - - I would love to stay here again!

A jewel of Milan thanks to his owner Roberto and all his friendly staff. He is the example to be followed in delivering high quality and friendly services in a way that makes everyone at home. Rooms have a great size for Europeean standards, fully equipped with TV, Internet, a bar. The bathrooms are spacious and clean. Adding to all is the breakfast that goes beyond the croissant and coffee! Close to the metro station, or driving into town (straight connection to Milan's belt 'transversalle') and 30 minutes walk to the center of town (10 min by tram). Only 50 minutes to Malpensa airport and 1 hour 10 to Lake Maggiore - Islands of Bella, Madre and Superiore a must see.

Great hotel in a very nice area of Milan. Surrounding area is brimming with restaurants and Ice Cream parlours, with a market and supermarket just around the corner. Staff were very welcoming and all spoke excellent English. The breakfast was great. Subway stop is literally 30 seconds from hotel front door. A great place to stay would definietly recommend it for young travellers.

The staff without glassed is quite nice, the other staff with glasses is a bit cold. The air-conditioning in our room was broken-down. fter told the staff, there was no option for change the room for free(the options were moving to another bigger room with extra fee, or waiting until they called someone to fix it up). The second day, the air-conditioning was fixed but still not worked properly, it worked about 20 seconds then stoped working hours. Thanks for the weather was not hot but cloudly on that 3 days. Hope the air-conditioning works properly now. BTW, it's quite near the metro, so you can hear clearly the noise when metros pass by.
