The Hotel did fufill the standard of a one star hotel. The staff was very friendly, they carried my very heavy bag in the fifth floor because there is no elevator. rooms were very clean and not too small. The hall toilet was clean too. The suroundings are very nice, also breakfast in the little bar at the corner Via Piero della Francesca "Flash Bar" was very good and also not expensive (1,90 € for Tea and brioche). But I would not come back to the hotel because of too reasons: the room had a horrible smell of old smoke (all rooms are smoker) and, as it seemde, mould. And it is realy true, you can hear everything through walls and floors. Without my earplugs I would have been miserable there. It is sad, because without that smell and noisynes, I would come back to the hotel for my next stay in Milan.

took me a while to find but that's probably my fault. close to domodossola train station but it was only about a 15-20 minute walk to the city centre. i was a little freaked out by having the shower next to the bed at first, but it was fine. just a warning - i was on the top (fifth) floor of a building without a lift! getting my bags up was a struggle, but you only have to do it once

THE HOTEL IS CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN A NICE UPSCALE RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD. WE TOOK THE 20 MINUTE WALK EACH WAY TO AND FROM THE MAIN TRAIN STATION, EACH DAY. THE WALK WAS VERY PLEASANT, PAST COFFEE SHOPS, PASTRY SHOPS, RESTAURANTS, AND THROUGH THE PARK. THE WALK TO THE DUOMO WAS ONLY ABOUT 10 MINUTES LONGER. WHEN WE DID NOT WALK, THE CAB WAS ONLY ABOUT 6 EUROS. WE WERE LOCATED ON THE 5TH FLOOR. WITH NO ELEVATOR, WE WERE GLAD WE PACKED LIGHTLY. WE SHARED A TOILET WITH ANOTHER GUESTROOM. IT WAS KEPT VERY CLEAN. THE STAFF WAS VERY HELPFUL AND THE PLACE WAS CLEAN. WE FOUND OUR FAVORITE PIZZA PLACE AND COFFEE BAR DOWN THE STREET. WE DON'T RECOMMEND GETTING A CAR. ODD-EVEN DAYS MAKES THE DRIVING A BIT UNPREDICTABLE , AND THERE IS NO PARKING. THE TRAIN SYSTEM IS VERY EASY AND INEXPENSIVE. THE MAIN TRAIN FROM THE AIRPORT GOES DIRECTLY TO THE CLOSEST TRAIN STATION. THE PRICE FOR THE ROOM WAS A REAL BONUS. THE COST WAS ABOUT HALF THE PRICE OF ANY OF THE OTHER HOTELS WE CONSIDERED. WE WERE SIMPLY LOOKING FOR A CLEAN ROOM FOR A DECENT PRICE WHILE WE ATTENDED THE FURNITURE FAIR IN RHO.WE HAVE TRAVELED ALL OVER THE WORLD FOR THE PAST 25 YEARS, AND WERE VERY SATISFIED WITH THE ACCOMODATIONS. WE WILL DEFINETLY STAY HERE AGAIN WHEN WE NEXT GO TO MILAN.

This is our first review in which we had such a negative experience with a B&B. With the exception of Hotel Mignon, our stay in all the other Italy hotels have been above average or outstanding. Aside from providing highly misleading and inaccurate directions to their hotel in the confirmation email i.e. direct line to the hotel via a single tram service, we ended up trawling the city for 5 hrs searching for the hotel instead. Upon realizing that the directions given were incorrect, we had to lug our heavy bags for 2 hrs on separate trams followed by a long walk before we finally arrived. Upon querying the reception why they had given incorrect information, they simply shrugged their shoulders and claimed it was not their responsibility and insinuated that it was our fault instead. We were absolutely disappointed there was not even an apology offered by them. Tired and hungry, we then checked in but our trip had definitely been soured by that experience. On the hotel itself, take note that although it looks geographically close to the city, it is a good hour away by tram (2 different svcs). The hotel also had a permanent odour of food in the air. The rooms were however surprisingly large and well-appointed for a 1-star hotel. Because of our disappointing experience with this hotel, we decided to stay at another hotel after 1 day instead. However, when we tried to check out, the reception staff turned hostile and we spent a fruitless hour trying to check ourselves out as they kept insisting for a full 3-days payment. Definitely not recommended.

Nice wellcome, got an upgrade in the room, very clean, confortable... no complains, it was a nice stay. Have a look on the video I made at the hotel and in the city on youtube.com/diogok Oh, yes, I remember something, the directions on how to get there are not really accurate and are a bit confusing, use Google Earth/Maps

The hotel provided what they offered: room with shower. There was a bit of surprise however: there was no toilet in the room - it was outside the room, on the corridor. In the end it wasn't a problem, since I was on the 4th floor, and there were only two rooms including mine, with no one in the other room. So, after all, they provided what they promised. The only problem with the room was the air-conditioner which didn't work - and it was a really hot day. The good thing was, however that the courtyard was quiet (and I was tired), so I could sleep well at open windows. It was easy to get from the hotel to the city, but I don't think I would go back, since I didn't find Milan that interesting (the Duomo was wonderful, the Corso Vittorio Emanuel, La Scala and the Castello Sforzesco nice, but otherwise I didn't find Milan that great).

Nice Hotel in the city of Milano for a good price. If you search a little hotel for sightseeing in Milano - this is the right one. The rooms are very clean and the personal is friendly (but can 't good speak english). There is no breakfast but you can walk to the city. Its not the Hilton but its central and clean and the price is very good.

I can't complain about the room, but I was disappointed about a couple of things. Firstly, I asked for directions to the hotel from the central station and was told to take one bus, when instead we had to take 3! Luckily, the people on the bus were nice enough to help us out. Once we arrived, we found out that the friend we were travelling with didn't have his reservation anymore because of overbooking, so they arranged to put him in another hotel (nearby thankfully). Apart from that, the room was very clean and big, even the bathroom! I liked the area because we had everything we needed nearby and it was only a 15 minute walk to the Arena Civica (if you're there for a concert, like we were) and 45 minute walk to the center of the city (for those who like walking).

I stayed at Hotel Mignon as a single traveler, for two nights. I have traveled for a month throughout Europe and Hotel Mignon was my worst stay. The room was clean but very small and the shower was right in the room, with no separation. Also the bed was tiny. On a whole it had a very dorm like quality, I would only stay here if I was going to be in Milan for one night. Also, the staff was not very helpful, they did not speak English. I had to rely on my Italian to communicate. The location is also bad, there are maybe two restaurants near by, however it is right next to a bus stop and tram stop. Another negative is that the walls are very thin, and you can hear everything.

Hotel experience was overall satisfactory. I think the hotel room was pricey for what was offered, especially regarding location. It is not central, it is out of the way and there is no metro station nearby. The neighborhood is good however, with several restaurants nearby. The room was very noisy as we discovered when the trash trucks came to pick up early in the morning. It was a satisfactory experience, although for the money paid I would have liked a more central location, or a location with a metro station nearby.

Depending on the other guests, it can become quite loud in the morning when everybody rushes down the stairs. I woke up several times a morning and did not need an alarm clock. On the other hand it is a clean hotel in a nice surrounding and I would stay there again.

It's not so convenient for travellers who arrive and depart by train, as they have to take tram #33 with several stops to the hotel. Besides, it's not convenient for travellers who carry heavy luggages and are unluckly assigned rooms on level 4 as the hotel does not have a elevator. However, the room was value for money as it was clean and the staff was friendly. The rate I paid was value for money.

Extremely clean in a good area (quiet and milanese). Very helpfull tenders. I've been asking a few "specialities" : minus 1 night, change one night single into one night double, a flower pot, chanpain in the owner's fridge. They did it, without any problem. Family ambiance.. 30' by foot to Piazza del duomo, 45' to the central station, 5 - 10' to the cimetere monumentale. Bus and tram nearby (tram 33 from central station). The double with bathroom was very spacious, the single without bathroom spacious enough. The little regret is that the inner court is noisy : you can hear the neighbours quiet well, and enjoy (if you understand chinese). I recommend it warmly !

Hotel Mignon was a very pleasant place to stay, although bear in mind it is very low budget and basic, however exceptionally clean. My room was located on the top floor, there is no lift so don't overpack. The Hotel owner was very nice and carried my extremeley heavy bag up the eight flights of stairs. Tram 33 was good advice to catch although it is not where the Tram 33 sign is located, it is right on the far left near main road as you come out of the station.

For the Money you pay this is a good, clean, basic Hotel. They have friendly and helpful staff. Although not on the Metro, it's on a good tram and bus routes to the cite centre. The Room although basic had a TV, Sink, power points, table and chair. What more do you need when you spend most of your time out side exploring Milan.

To be honest, I was a bit dissapointed with both hotel(facilities) and services. The size of the room was just Ok, but the length of the bed was very short and I was not able to stretch my legs. Neither does the telephone in the room have any information about how I can make an international phone call nor the number for outside calls . Room clerks have difficulty in communicating with English. And, I'm also a bit dissapointed with the responce from this Venere site. In summary,it said,"After reservation, first night will be charged by yoru credit card to make sure your reservation." On the day of my check-out, I asked if I had already paid for one night and room clerk said,"No." As a result, I had to pay full amount of money. In short, what I'd like to say is that, the notice above should not be sent in order not to confuse customers because it won't be applied to every case. One point I liked about this hotel is the location. Tram No.33 stops in the vicinity of Mignon from the central station, and No.?(I forgot the number)stops at some fermata in Corso Sempione.

@ SUMMARY: Excellent value for money basics hotel in quiet, handy location. It is clean, comfy and friendly. @ THE AREA: Clean and friendly; a warm welcome every morning at the corner cafe for a delicious panini. The area IS quiet (it's residential) but it's well-kept, with an up-market restaurant at the end of the street and a sit-in pizzeria round the corner. Walking home alone each night (at, say, 22:30) from the nearby tram stop felt fine. @ THE ROOM: I had a simple quiet single room at the back of the hotel. The bed was comfy and clean. The room had a good shower and there was a WC in the hallway outside. Again, both were nice and clean. I visited at the end of October. I have no idea how I'd like the hotel (or Milan) in the summer heat. @ STAFF: Very friendly! A request for an extra blanket was quickly and happily met, and they were pleased to give me directions. I spoke in Portuguese to the staff, so can't review their English. (Falam bem o português, e são amigaveis!) @ TRAM: 3 minutes to walk to tram stop "Gramsci" (for Trams 33&30) on Via Giulio Cesare Procaccini. Turn right out of the hotel, then take the first left (onto Piero della Francesca) and walk down past the shops for 30 seconds. You come to Procaccini. There's a tram stop immediately on your left for outbound trams, cross the road and go right a little for the trams going towards the centre. Around fifteen mins to Repubblica. @ HOTEL MAP: http://maps.google.it/maps?q=Via+Saronno,+5,+20154+MI @ TRAM MAP: "Gramsci / Procaccini": http://maps.google.it/maps?q=Piazza+Antonio+Gramsci,+2,+Milan @ STAY: I stayed for 5 days in the last week of October 2006, to attend a workshop. Some nights it was 24 degrees at ten at night. I paid 35 euros per night - cheap for central Milan. @ NEGATIVES 1) No public area to sit in if you're with a group. 2) Bad map. Easy with the above links. @ FINALLY: I'd definitely visit again.

The hotel was very clean and basic. Just what we were looking for. The beds were a little hard, but we were only there 2 nights. Our triple room was spacious and air conditioned. There was no elevator; so the trek to the 3rd floor with heavy luggage was challenging. It was a little hard to find, and I took the sage advice of another traveler and gave the taxi driver a map. The hotel was close to restaurants and shops; buses and trams. Tram 33 stops near the hotel and goes to the train station (20 min trip) The staff spoke some English and were helpful.

I would highly recommend paying the extra for the air conditioning as the room is very hot and has a very stuffy smell in the summer. Other than the smell and heat of the room, the room was clean and attractive and the bathroom too. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I marked down the cleanliness only due to the funny smell in the room which made it hard to sleep.

Very good, especially for the price. Nice cool rooms on a hot day. Not particularly scenic area, but quite pleasant. Man at the desk spoke English. I was however charged a bit more than I expected to be. The place is not hard to find at all with a map. From the Duomo take Tram 19 (There is a stop in a side street 3rd or 2nd left as you go up Via Orefici)and get off at the second Domodossola stop. It takes about 20 minutes. Buy a 48 or 24hr ticket (for all Milan transport) at a metro station or news-stand.

My daughter and I needed to stay in Milan just one night in order to catch our flight back home early the next morning. There was a bus nearby (the 57?) that took us to the Caborna train stattion for the train out to Malpensa. That was convenient. We got the tram (33) from the main train station to get to the hotel. (We were spoiled in Paris with its metro system. This hotel is right between 2 of the metro lines, and not very close to either. It's hard to find and interpret the bus and tram maps in Milan.) The man at the front desk was very nice and gave us a good recommendaiton for a nearby pizzeria as well.

This is a good small affordable hotel for people who only want the essentials, cleanness and comfort. It provides for good accommodation without the frills. I was very pleased with this hotel, everything was fine, the twin room was very spacious and clean, Via saronno is a small and calm street. Incredible quality vs.price in all aspects.Great compliments to the family running the business! Suggestion for venere.com is to add a bit to location description: name via Francesca on the map as a turn from via Proccacini and then the small street of hotel is easily found. The clients comments of location were very helpful on your site. As bus and tram maps are not easily found in Milan, it would not hurt, if bus 57 be mentioned as comfortable way to go to historical centre. So I never found out how to come back by bus! Maybe the hotel could prepare a small information sheet with important bus and tram options! To sum up-great location, great facility, great service, wonderful cafe in the corner and other charming places to dine in close reach

I had read these comments before I made the decision to stay here and the only comment that stood out was that it was hard to locate. So, I took the initiative to get directions from the main train station (Milano Centrale) to the hotel using michelinguide.com. It's like mapquest and it worked beautifully. My taxi driver was saying that the street is "very unique." Basically he had to look it up in his map, but because I had directions he had a good jist and "no problem" :) And of course, the owner was courteous and he totally helped me out when I had to get a taxi and checkout at 4 in the morning!

This hotel was great for the price. The room was very clean--from the in-suite bathroom to the bedding. The reception was professional and friendly. I emailed beforehand to tell the hotel reception that I was arriving relatively late, around 9:30 pm, and they were accommodating. The man processed my papers quickly and helped me carry my luggage up four flights of stairs. He advised me on a nearby restaurant and even took time upon my arrival to help me find parking on the street, which is no easy feat in Milan! It would be nice to have an elevator, but a helpful hand made up for that. The room had a telephone. The man at the reception even helped give me directions to the airport, including a complimentary map. The only tricky thing is finding the place, which via Michelin made quite difficult. The street where the hotel is located is short, so get a detailed map of the city and map your route from the highway yourself. If you can't get street parking, I understand there is a paid parking lot nearby for some 25 Euros. Wish more places had internet access in the hotel... If I visit Milan again, I'd stay at the Hotel Mignon in a heartbeat.

The Mignon is a fine place to stay when in Milan for a short term, if you are on a tight budget. I had a single room without bathroom. It was pretty much run down, but very clean (as is the entire hotel). There was a bed, TV, and sink. No shower. Toilet on the hall. Bear in mind, there are also much better rooms, twin bed, bathroom, fully renovated, a bit more expensive. Staff is very friendly and helpful, one of them spoke English, but my little Italian was fine, too. The hotel is in a quiet and friendly neighborhood, about 30 minutes walk from the city center. From Stazione Centrale, take Tram 33 towards Cacciatori Alpi to Gramsci (1€). At Piazza Gramsci, there's also a supermarket that's open on Sundays. I found Internet points in Via Canonica (close to the Arena) and at Piazza Duca d'Aosta (Stazione Centrale), close to one of the McDonald's.

Mignon is not an extraordinary cosy or luxurious hotel, but this is not what we expected. It is more a bed and breakfast/pension type accomodation and compared to the out of season price it is very ok and we would recommend it to everyone who looks for a place to sleep in Milano. If you want to stay in the hotel for the whole day you might want something else, something bigger which means something more expensive.

It seems to be a family run hotel and for a young, study abroad group looking for fun, they seemed a little anxious about us because they had young children needing to sleep. It was a bit of a walk to the main parts of town but very enjoyable because you walk through a park and by a fortress so we didn't mind. We were also looking to try out the one bar we heard we needed to go to in Milan, the Ice Bar, and it was located just around the corner, so that couldn't have worked out better. Overall, very clean and nice rooms. We tried to be respectful of the family and we're happy it was located close to the Ice Bar, but they don't cater as much to the young traveler but I would still stay there again.

Many coffee bars and one supermarket near the hotel but less restaurants. The hotel location is far from city center if walking, it is better to take tram. You can take No.33 to Hotel from center station and take No.1 to Nord station

Value for money, clean, friendly and helpful staff. Easy access/transportation to major shopping centres. We would use the hotel again and recommend it to others.

This is a simple hotel, but the rooms are clean and the accomodations are fine. We did not have a problem finding it, took a tram (33) from the train station. There are restaurants nearby, and the tram makes it easy to get downtown. I would stay here again.

Good price for an hotel with air conditionning in Milan. The only problems where that (1) there is no breakfast available in the hotel but there is a bar at less than 100m of the hotel (2) there is no lift (3) the personnel does not speak another language than italian and were not able to explain us how to go to the center by public transport (even if it is really very easy and aroud 10-15 mn until the station or 20 mn until Duomo).

Your website accepted AmexCard for the reservation and the Hotel Mignon does NOT accept American Express. You guys got me into trouble. Mignon wanted then cash and I had to run with my two kids late at night back into the city to get cash from a Deutsche Bank teller machine. NOT NICE!!!!!

The hotel is very very clean and the staff is so kind and helpful. It was a wonderful stay. The location is difficult to find. Directions on the web site explaining which Tram (1,19,33)stops are the easist and which stop to take would be very helpful. I will stay here again when I return to Milan.

This hotel is very clean and comfortable. However the position of this hotel is much further from the nearest station than I thought. I thought that this hotel should teach how far this hotel is from the station.

Very nice and clean hotel on the inside! The funny thing though is that the picture from the outside was taken of the building next door and the outside is not so nice as on the picture!! But the hotel and the service was really nice and the room was exellent!

Though difficult to get at, excellent value for money. There is TV though he switches is off at some hours. Shared bathroom which was very clean. Can get VERY NOISY when his family comes to visit and they stay in the back garden chatting till late....I suppose once a while this happens.

Mignon is a small place which does not flash with (sometimes useless) services, but provides a great place to spend a night cheaply very close to Milan's center. This is a family run hotel, with the owner both courteous and helpful. He is always on the watch on the ground floor--I frankly don't know how he does it without sleep. The only service I would like to see is for the web site to list public trasportation in the area. Mignon is not close to an underground station, but can be reached by tram 33 from Stanzione Centrale and by tram 19 from the city's center. I think it would be great to have this info accessible before the trip. One thing that we found very useful was the proximity of the SC supermarket with great Italian foods at normal prices.

Bien, mais isolation avec l'appart d'à côté un peu légère (bruyant 1 nuit sur 3). Tram direct pour le centre (10 min). 25 min à pied. Très bonne gelateria à moins de 500 m

The hotel is located in a pleasant and quiet residential neighborhood with good public transportation links to all the main points of interest in Milan. There is a supermarket nearby and we found a couple of welcoming inexpensive restaurants in the neighborhood.

The thing that I regret is the location. This hotel is very far from the main points and advising in transportation was poor.

It's little far from the station and the center,so when you go to this hotel first time, maybe you'll have some difficulty . Maybe the owner should write how to go their hotel on map(train or bus) Except that,it's good hotel!

Well, Mignon was clean and tidy, but really not worth the price. I thought a 5* hotel in Germany was expensive, but Mignon made my heart bleed taking into account that it's not city center and breakfast couldn't be served. However, for only two nights it was acceptable though dissappointing for so-called world-class city.
