Old looking but clean, conveniently located. Construction work on-going during my stay during the day but I did not really suffer from the resulting noise since I was leaving early in the morning. Paper-thin walls.

The hotel was very clean. For a one star hotel, I was very pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the quality of room service. There are no fancy amenities, but if you are staying to visit the city or friends this hotel is beyond perfect. The location is 20 minutes walking distance from the duomo incase of a public transportation strike. The metro is only a block away and there are many bus lines that pass by the area and take you to any part of the city. This is the perfect hotel if your on a budget and just need a place to sleep at night. The next time I am in Milano I will definitely return to this hotel.

After spending a lot of time in hotels around Europe, and having lived in Milan for 7 years, I can honestly say that this Hotel is worth staying at! Single room was just what I needed, and the location is perfect, especially for a traveler. The staff were very kind and helpful. Please be aware there is no elevator, for me that is no problem, but I did know this, I also had a huge suitcase which the staff let me keep in a room downstairs! The only thing I would say wasn't the best was the noise of the toilet/bathroom in the next room which was right by my bed. It woke me on the first night, got used to it after that, but, seriously, it's because it's a hotel close to the centre, the building is old! Is Europe after all! Loved the place.

The Malta Hotel is a typical Italian one star hotel. It is in an apartment block built round a courtyard in the Roman tradition. My room, which was on the third floor, had plenty of space to walk around, the layout was well designed. The main room had a single bed, a desk with four drawers and there were four coat hangers. There was a sink set into the wall with a wardrobe above. Due to the height of the bottom of the wardrobe it was difficult to use, although there was a rod for lifting hangers into it. A door led to the bathroom where there was a bidet, a toilet and a single shower. All this was clean and in good condition. There was also satellite TV. My room looked out onto the courtyard, I had little noise from there but some noise could be heard from adjacent rooms although not enough to trouble me. The main drawback to this hotel is the lack of a lift. This makes it difficult to get large luggage up the stairs and into the higher rooms but was not much of a drawback to me. There were two people that I saw on the desk, the one there in the evenings spoke a little English, the daytime man spoke more but was not fluent. I would not expect anyone at a similar type of hotel to speak as much Italian. All in all this is a hotel typical of its type, clean and well kept. I would return. There were plenty of restaurants in the area with local shops nearby and small supermarkets not too far away. It is also close to the Loreto Metro station which is on both the red and green lines, making it easy to get to the Central and Garribaldi main line stations and to the tourist attractions.

I liked the price a lot, however during my stay it was very hot - the window was open, and the street was very busy (thus every time a car would pass I would wake up). There was a fan however in the room, and once I turned it on, it was better (with the closed window). However, the walls are rather thin, and everytime somebody would go up or down the stairs I could hear it. Overall, the room was very clean and tidy and had even a TV. For one night it was great, but not more (as I slept very badly due to overall noise).

This hotel is easy to reach by bublic transports. I was in a single room with bath included, which I didn't expect for a hotel of that price-category. It was very clean and my room had 'italian charme' - or let's say 'Milan charme': high ceilings and a balcony with the typical shutters. This hotel definitely exceeded my expectations.

i was in Milan just a couple of days for works. The hotel is really near corso buenos aires which is a main street for public services, bar and shopping. Metro station is near to the place. There isn't a lift, this could be a problem if you have lots of baggage. The room was small, but for me it was more than enough.

Bein in Milan which is excedingly expensive, this is a very good little hotel if you don´t plan to more than rest, shower and go out. Ther is no wi-fi, tv is very basic BUT our room had good space to hang clothes, place belongings, plenty of good water to shower in. Basic and clean, small places very near to buy fruit and have excellent coffee, near underground too.

If you are looking for a place where to spend the night in Milan which is fairly central, then this is an unpretentious but perfectly adequate hotel. I stayed in a single room with window looking out on the main street and en suite bathroom with shower. The standard of cleanliness was good on arrival and was maintained for the duration of my stay. Both daytime and nighttime staff were corteous and polite. The hotel is minutes away from Loreto underground station and from the hustle and bustle of Corso Buenos Aires. I will most definitely stay agan.

All we needed was a place to sleep for 1 night before catching our return flight. Hotel Malta was easy to access from the train station and about 10 minutes to the airport. For the price it was very good although there was no elevator or Internet access. They were helpful in calling a cab and giving me directions. I am not sure how convenient it was to all tourist attractions but would stay here again if returning to Milan.

This was an overnight stay only onto other regions of Italy so I didn't care much where I stayed. I'm familiar with this particular area having stayed at a nearby hotel two years ago. Very easily accessible via the Metro, even if the Metro itself is a bit confusing in its signage! Yes there are stairs down to the reception area and there is no elevator/lift in the building. My single room faced the back of the property so it was very quiet. Small space, dark brown tile was the decorator's choice along with an odd photo of a rather stern looking siamese cat holding court over the bed! Bathroom was fully functional and clean. Bed was decent and hairdryer was provided. A no frills hotel but perfectly acceptable, easy to get to. The woman at reception was friendly and overall, this is a good choice regarding value for the price.

Very really nice hotel! A bit of history. Last year I visited Roma 2 weeks and I had 2 hosts types (B&B & Albergio-vane). With the qualityless of the last, I decided this year to choose a very nice hotel, as priceless as possible). And I found it! This one is really nice and I recommand it! 9 nights for 450 euros, no extra fees. I was visiting Milano alone, so I had a single room. A bit small but finally I didn't need a lot. But don't think small means less! It has a bed, a desk, a TV, a sink with mirror, a shower, a toilet, a footwasher (I don't recall the name), and the room was very nice for me (my little bubble in Milano!!). And if you don't have the converter for your electric device, just ask and you will have it free (so kind!). Easy metro access, 50€/night, clean room each day, all comfort (nice to self-relax after a looooong 12hrs tiring day of visiting, walking, ...), so very nice hotel! Next time I return to Milano, I will come back! Now, the disadvantages of this hotel - No net access : I didn't need it, and there is a public net access for 1€/h around the hotel, but it will put a real extra to be able to access it in the room (= no need to get out) - It's me or the hotel page, but I understood that I could have a breakfast if I pay an extra 2 euros/day. Or, after he says that this breakfast is outside, in a restaurant or else. It could be really nice to have a typical milanese breakfast, and even for 3-5 euros I could accept it if it's typical. This is not important but when you wake up, you need to have the strength for the day. But I just bought some breakfast similar in GS shop so... just a nice suggestion !!! But just remember, they are nothing compared to the price and the advantages! As the nice huge advantages hides massively the disads, I will put a global note of 9,5/10 :)))) Naturally, it could be better, it could be cheaper, but just be realistic: it's nice as it's, and it's the main conclusion! ------ N

Very clean property, good price /quality. Don t be phased by the 1 star rating. Ideal if you are on a budget. (3 nights for 220 euro, pretty good, for the location) Beware, the rooms can be a bit noisy during the day (you can hear the phone ring and the reception person on the phone). At night this is not a problem at all. The decor is a bit dated but still perfectly functional.Lots of wardrobe space, private bathroom ( we didn t get a balcony, but we didn t mind, it was october at the end of the day). carefull with the deep steps as soon as you push the main door in the street (in particular if you arrive after a few drinks of vino..) Overhall a great place to stay as very central to the main city attractions, shopping areas and the train station can be reached on foot from the hotel (good few restaurants close to the property too. I would highly recommend it and would go back again if i get the opportunity to go back to Milan

I had a single room, at 4th floor. No elevator, and no air conditioner nor electric fan. I would not suggest this place in the summer season, as Milan is very hot, humid, and there are a lot of mosquitos welcoming you as soon as you will fall asleep! As indicated in the ratings I found the staff both friendly and helpful, but this establishment needs a serious overhaul. The plumbing is outdated and noisy, and the sound-proofing is non-existent. And how much does it cost nowadays to provide a decent TV in each room ? The location is uninspiring but close enough to the metro. OK for budget travel, I suppose, but I will give it a miss in future.

Completely incompetent staff, without any knowledge of english except 1 out of 4 staff we met. They tried to kick us out on the first night because my girlfriend did not have her passport with her even though we said we will bring it the next day. We have been reminded by three different people on the next day. We got the last reminder on the way to our room to leave our bags and informed them that we will now go and pick it up. Only after 2 minutes, they called the room and asked for the documents again... Location is great but if you want to get a proper treatment and feel like a guest, I would stay away.

a very well run hotel, very nice design, scrupulously clean. beware the entrance to the hotel is immediately at the top of a staircase of approx 12 steps leading down - those with heavy luggage beware as there are polished marble steps here and throughout the hotel - the hotel prefers you not to bump your suitcase on any of the steps even if you are OK to do it - so if you have heavy luggage that you are not able to manage very easily, caution is advised. I would describe the area where the hotel is found as 'Aspromonte' as in fact, it is just of the Piazza Aspromonte where a lot of other hotels (less good value for money but still nice) are found. It is also very close indeed, to the tram.

I would have rated this hotel much higher if they had proper heating! Getting into the room was like stepping out into the cold each time.. The radiator heaters would only heat the immediate area around it and would not reach the bed. And the floor heating was only in front of the sink, so everywhere else was like stepping on ice.. :p Location wise, it's pretty well placed right at the start of Via Bueno Aires which is one of the main shopping stretches in Milan. If Hotel Malta had better heating, it would be a pretty good choice, but i can't recommend this for anyone visiting Milan in the winter.. unless they're prepared to brave the cold outside and in the rooms

You don't have to expect too much from a 1 star hotel. If you need only a room where to sleep and have a shower this accomodation is enough. The cleanliness of the room was quite ok, except for some hair I found in the bed...It wasn't so pleasant! This is why I gave a low ranking to the clenliness of the room. We had trouble finding it from the main train station and had to get a taxi - which was chea enough. Overall, it exceeded our expectations for a one star hotel, the location is right near metro stations and subway, there was grafitti on the wall of the hotel (didnt bother us - it is everywhere in milan) and the staff were friendly (either spoke good english or enough to communicate) and helpful. For exploring Milan on a budget it gets the thumbs up.

Proprietari gentilissimi. Consigliato caldamente a tutti.

Very good location, only a few minutes walking to metro and to Central Railway Station yet on a quitet small street; nice cafés and restauranst in the surroundings; the room and the bathroom was tiny but we had a nice large balcony overlooking a wonderful garden; apart from the embarrassing noise of the waterpipes it was quiet. Wouldn't say staff was fluent english but they were all very kind and helpful. All in all, it was a good choice, worth of price, I would recommend it to friends

Located within 5 min walk from Metro Loreto, easy to reach. Friendly and helpful staff. No breakfast. Good for people who just want a place to stay. I stayed 5 nights for 50 euro/night. Hotel prices in Italy are overpriced anyway, this was acceptable.

The best thing about this hotel has to be the couple running it, especially Anna. She is welcoming, kind, informative and makes you want to spend your money with her the next time you stay. The comments about the stairs and carrying luggage are valid, it is a bit of a killer(!), so please consider this if you don't feel fit enough for it. The hotel is located quite close to the Loreto metro stop and close to the Corso Buenos Aires. Its also reasonably priced, although they do ask that you pay cash if staying, for example, just for a single night.

So much more than a 1 star accomodation can usually provide. Anna and her husband run this hotel with passion and they are extremely nice. The hotel is very clean and with all comforts. Too bad they cannot offer breakfast and there is no elevator, or this would be a 3 stars accomodation. Just around the corner from Loreto metro stop, and one metro stop away from Milan Central station. They also have a beautiful garden where you can relax in the heart of Milan. I will definitely be back, and I highly recommend it to anyone.

We stayed in Milan for 2 days, the room is clean and quiet. However, we were badly bitten by mosquitoes at night.( I guess from the garden). While we checked out, the staff asked us to pay cash instead of creadit card and said " it was a cheap price. " This action made me feel bad. I suggust them remove "Credit card accepted" from the website.

Go here if you are in Milan and need a cheap room. However, as to why you might find yourself in Milan, that's another question. It has nothing worth recommending it (except perhaps good public transport - but at the end of the ride there's nothing much worth seeing)

Very friendly and nice employees, quiet and clean hotel, relatively cheap in comparison with the rest of Milano., and very close to metro and busstations. Too bad that there is no possibility to enjoy breakfast in the hotel, or at least a cup of thea. The stairs could also be a problem (especially when your room is on the 4th floor), but if you don't mind the absence of an elevator, Malta is a perfect place to stay whem you visit Milano.

Actually this is a nice hotel because although it is in the centre of Milan it is in a quiet little street right, so you don´t´get involved in the city´s traffic-noise. We´ve had a nice room in the 2nd story with a nice little balcony with a table and two chairs and so we had a nice view over some little private gardens. very pretty! still there are some things which sould have been better in Hotel Malta: there is no elevator (and no-one who helped us carry our heavy luggage 2 1/2 stories), no breakfast and to be honest the rooms & bathrooms are kind of old. still it is a nice hotel with nice people working there and since it´s price-quality-realtionship is alright one cannot expect everything from a one-*-Hotel! Just to sum up I can recommend staying here! Have fun in Milan!

We had a nice 2 days stay in a centrally located but very quite hotel in Milan. The price is very reasonable. The good impression was due to the fact that we lived in probably the best room on a 2nd floor with a terrace (we did not see other rooms). The hotel is rated as 1* star. To our mind it deserves to to be rated as 2** star if not to say as 3*** star one. Unfortunately they have neither possibility to serve breakfast as in most 2** star hotels nor to offer water pool facility as in most 3*** star hotels. Anyway we our going to advertise the Malta hotel to our friends and colleagues looking for a cosy and inexpensive stay in Milan.

We had a very nice stay at hotel Malta. A thing that was a bit of a surprice , though, was that brakfast was not included in the stay. And we could have wished, that it had been possible to make a cup of tea/coffee in our room.(an electric waterboiler, f.instance). As for the staff at the hotel we were very satisfied. Everybody was helpful and friendly.

For this price you get a nice small and clean room, which is very quit of traffic and near metro, central station and bus. Only the walls are very thin, so you hear everything around, especially the dog beside. Anyway, I would come again to Hotel Malta ....
