We did have a glitch with our check in (apparently they had us double booked) but after that was resolved our stay at the Lancaster was great. Triple room was spacious and the bathroom was huge with a double sink area. Breakfast offers great variety and was set up by 7:00 am which was helpful on our last day when we had to check out early.

Excellent stay, hotel is quite a find I think. Only booked for one night for the nearby Alfa Romeo Centenary celebrations. Price/Quality compromise was very good for the Lancaster, rooms spacious and clean. Excellent welcome from front desk staff. Great bathroom with full height french doors to a balcony, twin sinks and powerful shower. Breakfast was fine, dining room small - but why are you hanging around your hotel in Milan? Never been to the Parco Sempione area before but it's much nicer in the evening than the Duomo area. Saturday night around the Arco del Pace was atmospheric and lively with plenty of good bars and restaurants. Would happily go back to the area and the hotel.

I found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Very clean, quiet hotel - good breakfast. Location about 15 mins walk from Metro, but interesting restaurants, bars etc. behind the nearby Corsa Sempione. Not important to me, but yes - the staff seem to speak excellent English.

Good price-quality relationship... it's more then we expected to find in a big city like this. Only downside is that it's not very near to the historic centre, but subway and taxi in Milan are very nice.

This was my first stay at Hotel Lancaster but it won't be the last. I chose it from all the hundreds of hotels in Milan because of reviews on the Internet. I was looking for a quiet place to stay and therefore didn't mind its location in a (very beautiful) residential neighborhood on the other side of Parco Sempiore. It's a 15-minute walk to the metro station, but there were very good restaurants nearby. Service was excellent and very friendly.

The stay was excellent. Central accommodation for a two day visit of Mailand. Excellent service, helpfull and very friendly providing maps and informations by themselves without asking, nice and comfortable rooms, a city business hotel with familiar charm, rooms quiet if not situated to the street (but not much traffic at night).Good beds. The price benefit was good, a full satisfying breakfast was provided. Sightseeing and points of interest foot walk away.

This was a super room. The front desk personnel were the friendliest. The only problem I had was the distance from any public transportation. Since August is so stifling hot, I ended up taking a cab 3 times since I didn't want to walk so far in the heat. Otherwise, i would highly recommend the Lancaster. Super!

Good place to stay the night before a flight. The hotel has a kind of old-fashioned elegance, and is in a quiet neighborhood a few blocks away from a street of trendy bars with loud music and big outdoor seating areas. We explored the surrounding back streets and found several family-style restaurants and pizzerias with reasonable prices. The Lancaster had the cheapest WiFi we found at any of our hotels in Italy: 3.5 Euros for 24-hours - well worth it even though it only worked in the lobby area. Breakfast was excellent - eggs, meats, cheeses, breads, pastries, cereals, yoghurt and fruits. We saw patrons of all ages; they all seemed to be pleased with the service. Hotel staff was very courteous, and took lots of time to answer requests about places to eat, directions, etc. We had a lot of trouble finding the hotel on foot (coming in from the train and then metro to the Cadorna metro stop) in spite of the directions and map; it took quite a bit longer than we'd expected, and we had to ask passers-by for help. We opted for a taxi to the train station the next day, and the 10 euros were well worth it.

Hotel Lancaster was great. Our room was very big, the bathroom was really large with a double sink. The staff was fantastics - they were very friendly and helpful all the time. Walking to Cadorna station was a bit long so I recommend asking the staff which bus you can take. Otherwise from Cadorna station, every place of interest can be reached within 15 minutes like the Duomo or even the Navigli district. We really enjoyed our stay at Lancaster and would definetely stay there again if we go back to Milan.

We had only one night to spend in this delightful hotel whose charming concierge seemed like my old British uncle (except that he was Italian and I, American). Good mattress. We stayed for a week after a conference elsewhere in northern Italy not having been to Milan before. The Lancaster could not have been a better place to be. The room was large and well furnished, the staff could not have been more courteous and helpful. The area is quiet and there are some excellent restaurants five minutes walk away. Two tram lines three minutes from the hotel take you to the centre; the number 27 stops in front of the North Station which is the terminus of the train from the airport (Malpensa). I would happily return to the Lancaster any day.

Excellent staff, very friendly and helpful. Arranged taxi's to drive us around and to take us to Malpensa airport. The only negative was the air conditioning (or lack of). We had 2 rooms, one only slightly cool, the other very warm. After complaining, someone came up and then explained to me that the AC was working just fine. No offer to change rooms, just basically told to deal with it. The room would have been cooler with the windows open, but this hotel is in an industrial district, and the road noise would have been way too loud. Only a 5 minute taxi ride to the Last Supper, Brera Museum etc.

Overall it is a nice and pleasant hotel. The rooms are large and well furnished with nice comfortable beds. The bathrooms are very clean and the towels provided are good quality. The air conditioning works well. There is a small TV in the room with CNN. The breakfast has good ham and cheese and nice fruits and breads. I was not pleased with the location because it is in a very quiet street and you have to walk about 4 blocks to find the restaurants and stores in the neighborhood. Although the trolley is about 2 blocks away and although it does take you to the center of town often, there is a feeling of being in a remote place. The reception staff is really wonderful and very helpful. I had to take my husband to the hospital and they helped me with making calls, finding the taxi and getting the medicines. They also helped with getting food to the room. It was almost like having family there.

Our stay at the Hotel Lancaster was very nice. Rooms are clean and our was very quiet since it was facing the cortile as requested. Breakfast was good compared to Italien standart. There was jelly and Nutella, but also cheese and ham which I prefer. Only the bread rolls were horrible dry and hart to eat. They should get a better backery. The location is nice and quiet, but not in the city centre. You have to walk about 20 min to the domo. But it is a nice walk through the Parco Sempione. For me it was perfect since I visited my son who lives 50 m away from the hotel.

I stayed for 3 nights at Hotel Lancaster during a short break in Milan (first time in the city) with my wife, little daughter and mother-in-law. We rented a single and a double room (with a cradle for the baby). This hotel is very quiet during the night and the rooms albeit small are very clean. The location is ideal for tourists. Central Milan but in a residential area. The city centre can be reached in 15 minutes (5 minutes walk + 10 minutes by tram). The staff was very helpful and gave good tips for dining in the area.

Very pleasant stay. The staff was extremely nice and helpful. They indicated good and cheap restaurants close to the hotel and gave us lots of indications on public transportations and interesting places to visit. The room was big, very quiet and clean. Breakfast buffet was quite pleasant. The location is not the best, it takes about 20 minutes to walk to the center, but there are tramways very close to the hotel.

I was very happy with Hotel Lancaster and the charm, willingness and professionalism of the staff (I believe they may be one family that runs it). The hotel is excellently located for the Fair/Exhibitions area however I would not use it again as my business in Milan is always near the Repubblica/Central Station or Duomo areas. It is very clean and cared-for, in a relatively nice area that is primarily residential, near a park. However I am extremely unlikely to stay in this hotel again as it was just too time-consuming, inconvenient and unreliable to use the public transport from any station to the hotel with luggage. It was also inconvenient to come and go to other places in Milan and back to the hotel, even without luggage, as buses were timetabled to return to the hotel at night, but they just didn't come. If I did not have a large suitcase I would consider using this hotel again but I agree fully with the comment by other reviewers that it is a full 20mins from Cadorna station on foot to the hotel - and that is, if you know exactly how to find it. A taxi costs around 6 euros plus tip but I am not accustomed to having to take taxis most times I want to get anywhere. My stays in Milan are always very short, and I do not have time to stay in a hotel far away from the things I have to do. So I give the Lancaster a high recommendation but only for those needing to be at the Fiera, or perhaps, if your business is not far away, for those who come from Malpensa airport on the train arriving at Cadorna.

We went on a 4 day break to recharge after Xmas, exploring Milan. We picked up tips about how to get to the hotel from this website and found it straightforward to get to. Travel in Milan is heavily subsidised and it only cost €1 for 75 minutes or €3 for 24 hours from purchase to travel on the train, tube or tram. The hotel reception staff are excellent, speak English well and were always helpful. The room we had was a good size and clean though no view. Breakfast was continental - coffee/tea with croissants, meats and cheese with rolls, cereals, juices and cake. Well set up and looked after by the staff. The hotel is located away from the centre but we loved the walks through the park although some may not. There was lots to do and see. We went to the Il Doumo -make sure you pay the extra €7 to go on the roof. Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and La Scala are close by. As football fans we went to watch AC Milan play San Siro - the passion and athmosphere generated by the Italian suppporters is something to behold. One tip though - do take your passports as ID because you cannot purchase tickets at the Stadium without them.Even the Italians have to We also prebooked tickets to view The Last Supper by Leonardo De Vinci. Give yourself at least three weeks to get them before your trip. You are only allowed 15 minutes to see the painting but worth it. We also went to the Biblioteca Ambrosiana which had some excellent paintings.Shopping is great fun - especially if you have some money, but window shopping was good too. we saw the winning F1 car in the Ferrari shop, handbags both real in the shops and fake from the street vendors. Don't forget to stop and try the wonderful array of icecreams available too. Try 'apertivo'. Basically happy hour in the bars and restaurants where for a set price you get any drink you like, a selection of snack food he help yourself from more from the bar as long as you like.

There was a slight annoyance where the hotel wouldn't let us know where the takeaways they ordered room service from were (I assume because they didn't want us to know the prices from the takeaways) which spoiled one night of our stay. Unnecessary too because we obviously understood that room service costs more than going to get the food yourself and eating out of takeaway trays with plastic forks. (We only asked at all because room service wasn't available the last night of our stay and we had enjoyed the food every other night) Apart from that everything was excellent and I would still return.

A really nice hotel with a fabulous bathroom. I would say a 10-15minute walk from the metro - if you go the right way!! I think you need more specific directions to the hotel from the metro. Definitley use the metro and the trams to get around - if you can find a tram map that would be really useful rather than the metro for stops between the hotel and Duamo. There are really nice local restaurants round the corner from the hotel on Milton; friendly service and fabulous food. The area is residential but everything is so close by it's not an issue at all. Price of the hotel and the quality more than made up for the extra bit of walking. I would recommend this hotel to any friends visiting Milan.

Perfect value hotel. Least expensive hotel by far that I was able to find that still was high quality and well worth staying at. Hotel Lancaster is a little bit off the beaten path, but not too far away to cause any concern. Just a little bit of a longer walk to the duomo. The rooms were nice and clean (and about the best bathrooms of anywhere I stayed in Italy - even better than some the 4 and 5 star hotels!). Only problem with my room was that it was next to the elevator/stairs, and the walls were quite thin (ie. noisy room). Overall: well worth the stay.

Although a good walk from central Milan, we found the Hotel Lancater a great place to stay. The staff exceedingly helpful, recommending and booking restaurants, and phoned ahead to other hotels on our behalf, nothing was too much bother. The hotel has a dignified old air about it, very comfortable, good sized rooms. Our room was quiet. We had a wonderful dinner nearby (5 min walk) at restaurant recommended by the hotel, Il Cortese, the host, a lot of fun and the food excellent. I would be happy to stay here again.

Loved it! (June 1, 2007)This was our 5th trip to Italy and 4th time flying out of Milan. We were looking for a relaxing and quiet hotel for the last night and we found it. On previous visits we had stayed in the historic centre and have been not happy with the quality vs. price of the rooms. We stayed in the superior double room (139 euros)and it was just as pictured on the site. Very quiet, clean and well furnished. The windows were insulated. The staff was very attentive and the common areas beautiful. Room service is available and they do have adjoining rooms. We were traveling our toddler son. We will stay there again on our next trip. Liked the area around the Cardona Station. It seemed cleaner than the historic centre and there were several restaurants. We had to walk around the park to get to the hotel and it was very nice.If you have a lot of luggage don't attempt the walk. The taxis were on strike when we got off the train, so we had not choice but to take the metro and walk to the hotel. There are several places with outdoor tables to stop along the way if you have to huff it. Tip: Orient yourself to choose the right exit from the metro or you will find yourself on the wrong side of the busy intersection. The taxis to airport was 100 euros. We were running late and he drove VERY FAST. Maybe that's why the fare was so high. He was very nice just the same.

Hotel was perfect for our needs. Slightly outside the city centre but the transport links are excellent or you can walk through the park which is nice and takes no more than 30 minutes if you're strolling. Hotel was clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms were fairly standard I'd say and the walls were a bit thin so it was a bit noisy. The hotel provides breakfast and does a very limited range of snacks 24 hours a day. They don't do evening meals but they can order in pizza or chinese! There are a few restaurants in the area, one in particular was excellent, can't remember the name but it was just at the crossroads of the main road - would recommend booking in advance. Overall our stay was excellent and I would recommend this hotel.

Excellent location, near the Castello. And the trams were great! We would certainly use this hotel again and recommend it to others.

This was a lovely hotel and I would stay there again. The staff was friendly and helpful, the room was clean and pleasant to stay in. Of course most importantly everything was within walking distance, and there was also a tram close by =).

Being in Milan for working, i needed a fast ADSL connection during the night to upload hundreds of photos for the client, and at Lancaster the connection in room was very fast, cheap and easy to use.

Comfortable, quiet and welcoming and a 20 min walk through the park to the centre of Milan. Plenty of interesting restaurants and shops, and just near the tram stop and Malpensa express.

Front desk staff very helpful, polite, and proactive, taking the time to orient us, order a taxi for the airport, etc.--though they didn't tell us our wake-up call was going to cost 2 Euros. Call me cheap, but that's usually a free service, right? Anyway, the room was nice and clean, and we were directed to a delicious nearby restaurant. We only stayed for one night.

While perhaps not the most convenient to public transportation, the approximately 1.5 km walk from the Cadorna Metro stop to the hotel was quite pleasant and easy along side the park. I had no trouble finding the hotel and the staff was welcoming, helpful and spoke English well. I was provided a good map of Milan, given directions, and also recommendations. I was able to walk easily to Castle Sforzi and the central sights are easily reached by subway. Breakfast was excellent, with a great selection of pastries, breads, cheeses, meats, juices, fruit, and made to order caffé. The single room was spacious by European standards and I will stay here again when I return to Milan. I hope my next stay is longer than one night!

We had just three days in Milan. We were able to walk into the centre very easily. The trams 1, 19 and 27 can be taken from quite close to the hotel. However you would miss the walk through the Parco Sempione to Castello Sforzesco. The Hotel is quiet and our room was immaculately clean. The staff were helpful, polite and - to our shame - spoke good English! Breakfast was very good.

This was our first visit. Spacious bedrooms and, in our case, a very spacious bathroom with twin WH basins. The staff were friendly and helpful. The only adverse feature was the rather noisy railway nearby The rooms at the back might be less affected by noise

Quite well located and quaint. The reception was efficient and the room was fine for a few days even boasting a small balcony from both the bedroom and bathroom. The room was clean and the bathroom facilities some of the best we experienced within the price range. Reasonably priced internet access (own laptop) in the room was also convenient. The continental buffet breakfast was also one of the better for the price & offered a nice selection of pasteries etc. I left a shirt in the room and the hotel management very kindly contacted me by email and returned it by post back to my home. I was most impressed with this excellent courtesy. I would be happy to return.

Location is excellent, at walking distance train and bus station, good quality restaurant, and at the corner a local friendly bar. Provides comp and internet access, which for us was a plus. Room service a plus, since I like to have breakfast before leaving the room.

No real complaint other then the difficulty in finding the Hotel. I would strongly recommend that the hotel provise explicit directions from the Airport to the Hotel. The only other small complaint was that you have to walk up a small flight of stairs to the elevator. The service was great, the room was clean, and the breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend this Hotel.

The hotel is in a quiet location near the Parco Sempione, but it is easy to get to the major sites. We stayed at the Hotel Lancaster with a young child, and they provided a portable crib.

When arriving at the hotel we where totally surprised. At such a fair price we didn't expect to get such a beautiful hotel in a city as Milan. And only a 10 min. walk from the city center.

Service was extremely helpful and free breakfast was very good. The only negative was that it was warmer than usual for the season so the air conditioning was not on and the room was too warm (or too noisy with the window open).
