Hotel Gonzaga is located very close to Central Station, only about 5minutes walk. The building Hotel Gonzaga is in looks old office building, but you would easily find thanks to the signboard outside. The room was clean and large(triple room),breakfast was good, too. It was convenient to take airport bus departing from the central station as well.

We traveled in Italy for two weeks and stayed in Milan for 2 nights. This is the most spacious room we've ever had in Italy. We booked a double room and end up getting a double queen beds room. It has been remodeled and clean. The shower room is not big but clean. It's close to the central station and McDonald and we can take the bus to the airport. We'll come back if we plan to visit Milan again.

Prior to booking the hotel I had read the reviews which were a mixed lot. One's stay in a hotel is a very subjective exrience and guest's responses can be influenced by many factors so it becomes very personal. My wife & I booked and stayed 3 nights and found it satisfied our needs - - - clean, comfortable, furnishings basic but adequate, double glazing cuts street noise, good breakfast, all at an affordable rate. Three Star but a good 3 star. Close proximity to Central Station and the Metro is plus

Gonzaga is a clean and serviceable hotel on the third floor of a city office building. It appears oriented toward businesspeople, but is also quite okay for budget-minded leisure travelers. Staff we met all spoke more than enough English to complete any hotel transaction. No access to stairs, elevator only. Secured access 24 hours a day by pushing buzzer at front door, and being let in by desk clerk. BEDS WERE THE BEST we'd had out of three hotels in Italy this year, firm and with plenty of pillowing on top. Our party of a 50ish couple and 50ish single were quite comfortable. Problems: (1) There was a safety issue, the shower burned me (see below). (2) Noise from neighboring rooms was a bit troublesome in the wee hours on the weekend; walls seem to be very thin. (3) Noise and light from the street were mostly blocked out by good windows and curtains. (4) Our request for an extra pillow was turned down - hotel full, no extra pillows. (5) Power outlets were a tad insufficient near the bureau/minibar (there was no desk); I was alarmed to see TV, cable box, and fridge all plugged into one chunky multiplex plug. Had to unplug something to use the hotpot. Rooms are spacious and fully outfitted: tv, phone, hotpot with teas, expensive mini-bar. Shampoo and shower caps and shoe polish cloths available in slightly under-lit bathroom. The included breakfast was relatively wholesome and substantial. Hotel staff were highly competent at attending to coffee/drink requests, keeping the buffet stocked as food was depleted, and clearing tables as they were vacated. Buffet included yogurt, fresh fruit, three juices, ham, cheese, sweet pastries and seeded rolls. Staff made coffee, espresso or tea to order. Hotel is well-located for traveler convenience: on bus line, and just a couple of blocks from Centrale train station. Nearby restaurant "The Kitchen" was very good for dinner at a reasonable price, and frequented by lots of locals. Hotel signage was ample

- Poor welcome/Poor treatment at the reception. Not even a smile. They treat you like they do not really need your business. Taking pains answering your questions, making you feel unwelcome and annoying to them. It is a pity for such a great property. I would propose courses for the reception staff or if this won't help, change the reception staff. (Comment excludes the nice lady serving the breakfast). - In order to confirm Venere's reservation I sent them a few e-mails before arriving. They won't reply to e-mails at all. I had to call them by phone from Israel. - No luggage room. Our luggage stood just next to the front door for many hours until check-in time. Thanks God they were still there when we came back. And we did change our schedule to come back early to take our luggage to the room. Annoying if you only have one day in Milan. (they might feel they were safe there, but it was not our feeling) - No Internet connection. They offer to give you a cable for your cellular phone in order to connect to their computer, and use your phone's Internet connection if you have one (maybe GPRS?). - It was a nice surprise to find a Jacuzzi in the room. Unfortunately it was unoperational and we did not even have the courage to ask them to fix it (see above comments). We just had one night and did not want to spoil it with this subject. - Sorry, but I would not return to this nice hotel.

Convenient for Milano Centrale rail station, but very difficult to find from website map. Reception staff grumpy, even in italian. Access by lift (and entryphone in use after hours), but an upside would be that there is good disabled access. Good breakfast.

The best value in Milan. I took a quick weekend break with my two kids and chose Gonzaga primarily for its location - just a few steps from the main central railway station and metro. From there it was a quick 4-stop ride to the Duomo, Galleria Victor Emmannuel and La Scala. Like all central railway stations, Central can attract seedy characters - but there were lots of cops around and quite honestly, I felt perfectly safe - even when trudging back from the Opera at midnight with two kids in tow. Our triple room at Gonzaga was big enough for the kids to play hide and seek! Beds were comfortable and everything was spotlessly clean. Gonzaga's third-floor location enhanced my sense of security - as did the safe in my room. The hotel obviously appeals to a range of guests - I saw an English couple with two toddlers, several businessmen and a bunch of cabin crew from a major US airline. cabin crew is invariably a good sign of a hotel - these people rate reliability and accessability high. My only slight complaint was the noisy trams outside that seemed to clatter all night That said, Milan IS a big bustling place, and if you can't stand traffic, go to Venice instead!!

The Gonzaga is a super hotel value for Milan. The location near the train station and metro make it easy to work your way through the city. The staff even though they seem somewhat aloof is competent and willing to help. I read in previous reviews regarding noise being an issue in the rooms- easy answer is bring some earplugs! All european cities are generally loud and ear plugs help considerably. The rooms in the Gonzaga were the largest of the lot we stayed in while on our trip in Italy, France and London - the breakfast included was the best as well. I would stay here on my next trip to Milan anytime.

Quite a nice surprise. After a little confusion getting to the right floor, the rooms were quite nice, the breakfast good, the decor very pleasant and the staff were polite and helpful. The area near the Central Station is a little noisy and busy but the hotel is only a few metro stops from the Duomo. I would recommend to anyone.

My first impression was rather disappointing because the hotel is in a block of flats, and you have to press a button outside to be let in, then there is no indication on the lift on which floor the hotel was. The hotel looks cheap and tacky at first but there are positive sides: the room was very spacious and clean and at a reasonable price. Nothing lush but reasonable.

The neighborhood is just ok, and the hotel occupies just a small portion of a large old, unattractive building. However, the hotel is fine once you are inside ...the employees are very pleasant and helpful, the rooms are clean and pleasant, and the breakfast was good.

Quiet, clean, comfortable, air-conditioned, spacious, aesthically pleasing (apart from the preponderance of artificial flowers), and good value for money. Breakfast was a bit disappointing for this vegetarian with a slight intolerance to yeast – and the only fruit on offer were some woolly apples and some oranges, but it was nicely laid out and the staff charming. Easy to find if you locate the south corner of the station (if you arrive by train come out of the front of the station and turn left, if by bus from the airport continue walking south-east in the same direction as the buses are facing). Stand with your back to the station and you will find Via Vitruvio running left from the far left corner of the piazza that is in front of the station. Cross to the south side, (watch out for the trams!), cross Via Roberto Lepetit (lovely little bar Lepetit on the corner), and the hotel is on the right but you have to look up for the sign as it is on the 3rd floor (with several lifts) of a quiet office block, and therefore secure. As far as comments that have been made about the rudeness of the staff are concerned, I find that if you take the trouble to learn, and use the important words - such as everyday pleasantries, and please and thank you very much, and smile a lot - people respond better. It makes their day better too. I found them very helpful and not rude at all. There is a very efficient Left-Luggage at the station – but be sure that any single piece does not weigh more than 20kg. Go up to the platform level in the station, turn left and you’ll find it at the end to the left of the escalators. Will definitely stay at Gonzaga again!

Avoid this hotel! The staff is uncaring, unhelpful and exhibits a take it or leave it attitude. We booked this hotel based on the description that the entire property was Air Conditioned. The web page says this and the room description even uses bold print to emphasize this amenity. Our room was 86 degrees F, but when we asked if they would move us to another room they refused. The hotel is on a street that is noisy with traffic and a street car that runs all night. We stayed the one night without any sleep and paid for the room with cash the next morning. They would not give us another room and they then billed my credit card for the second night even though we checked out. This hotel borders on criminal behavior. In thirty years of traveling I have never been treated as rudely or in such a devious manner by any hotel property. Venere should drop this hotel from it's listing, because there are many hotels in Milano that are deserving of travelers business, but this hotel is not one of them. There was no complaint about the cleanliness, or the room in general, but the managers and staff are unwilling to help and are arrogant. When I read the review about the stolen luggage, I could empathize with the traveller. These people are not to be trusted. When you give your credit card to Venere you are making a contract through them for a room based on the description provided to them by the hotel. If the hotel does not live up to the contract and provide a room that meets those requirements you have every right to remedy, be that another room or the option to leave. DO NOT STAY HERE!

The Hotel is conveniently located close to Milan central train station. It is easy to find and get in (it is located on one floor of a commercial building. Is also close to the Metro station. Rooms are nice and clean and of reasonable space. There is no internet access, a basic neccesty nowadays. However, the price is right and the staff is courteous. The sound proofing of the rooms is not great, and some noise from nearby rooms and the reception area (TV) can be heard at some rooms. We stayed in two rooms, one double (a single double bed) and one triple (three small beds), which was good for our familyof 5. However, the triple room was also a dibale access room, and thus the shower was open with a drain at the center of the bathroom that took most of the water of the shower. A problem was that some towels went to the floor and cloged the drain, and in a matter of minutes water was coming out of the bathroom into the room and across the door to the hallway when someone was taking a bath. Luckly, the staff was able to quickly help to cntrol the water, but if you can stay away from that room.

The Hotel was clean. Although we requested a double room it was a twin. The description says the rooms had tea and coffe making facilities this was not so in room 102. The beakfast was good but a little basic. It is well placed for a short stay in Milan. Close to the Central station and Malpensa airport shuttle which starts at 04.25 hours. Also the stop for the red tourist bus is only 2 minutes walk around the corner. I would use it again on any future trips to Milan

The property is clean, well kept, spacious, and conveniently located. We had one issue with them; when we arrived with a reservation for a double room and with two small children, they objected that we should have reserved a larger room. We compromised (upgrading to a triple), but we were a bit unhappy with their attitude. We stayed in three other hotels in Italy during our trip, always reserving a double room for ourselves and the children. Everywhere else, the hotel staff smiled at the kids and made us feel welcome. In Gonzaga, they made us feel guilty for trying to do the same, and we generally had the sense that they prefer business travellers to families. Apart from that, everything was great, but I would think hard before returning there with the kids. Travelling alone, no problem.

I didn't catch on the hotel is actually on the third floor of an office-looking building. I'd recommend a bigger sign outside and instructions that one must buzz the intercom to access the building. Other than that, it was a very pleasant stay, and a spacious room. The group staying next door was a bit noisy, but didn't keep us up late. I highly recommend this hotel for super-easy access to the train station and Malpensa airport shuttle.

Good location, neighborhood and facilities. The only downside was the street noise!! The hotel is right on a main street with metal wheeled street cars that run well into the night and start in the early morning. This alone would have me look for another place a little further back from the noise. I would stay here again for one night but would look elsewhere for a longer stay.

We stayed 1 night, arrived late by train, & left early next day by hire car picked up close to the station. Our room was absolutely huge, the bathroom complete with numerous bath products, & bidet, & all was spotless. Our room came with a kettle, 2 cups & tea - very welcome. All rooms face the main road, but with double glazed windows, & the air conditioning on (which was just right), we could hear very little noise throughout the night - trams stop running at about midnight, but were fairly quiet anyway. There was no parking available at the property. Breakfast was fresh pastries, rolls & jam, cereals, fresh fruit, yogurt, juice, ham, cheese; orders for tea/coffee were taken & delivered promptly. We were checked in promptly, however, the evening clerk was a bit cool & unsmiling, but efficient & answered all our questions immediately. Morning staff (breakfast room & desk) were both more friendly, but equally efficient. We had no trouble finding the hotel - we exited the station onto the piazza, crossed the whole piazza, towards the McDonalds at the top left hand corner. Before crossing the street, look left, & in vertical letters you will see the sign for the Gonzaga. Its in an office tower, so when you get to the entrance, find a buzzer on the right hand wall marked "Gonzaga" - you'll be buzzed in by the clerk, & it helps in feeling more secure in the hotel. Minutes away from train&metro stations. Our bed was extremely firm, & that with the air conditioning & quiet gave us our best night's sleep in some time. For the centre of a major city it was fairly good value, it was quiet & we felt very safe for a hotel by a railway station in a major city. We would definitely use this hotel again.

The Hotel Gonzaga is perfect for those arriving by train into Milano Centrale. It is an easy walk with luggage and the sign for the hotel is visible from the piazza in front of the station. I paid 80 Euros per night which was great for the quality of the hotel which included breakfast. I am glad a reader had pointed out that this is an office building and one must enter the front doors and take the elevator to the third floor.

although small, the room was well appointed and comfortable. If using the airport, be aware that the shuttle runs only in the morning from 6 AM, so you will need to use a 25€ taxi ride to/from the airport if outside those hours. The location surprised us with with how pleasant it was - the town piazza was a short walk and the restaurants' evening (after 7pm) happy hour was another surprise - laden with substantial hor d'oevres! The little pizza take-out place across the garden circle from the hotel made a really delicious thin crust pizza!

This is a new or a totally renovated hotel with comfortable beds and pillows, spacious room and bathroom. The hotel is 1.5 blocks away from Milano Centrale (main train station) with frequent bus service to Malpensa (MXP) airport at a rate of €11.00 for three (3) people (a taxi would cost approximately €100.00. Breakfast at the hotel was served by two very efficient and friendly hostess and the selection of food was very good: fresh fruit, fresh fruit juice, prosciuto, cheese, assorted types of bread and toast and pastries, yougort and good coffe. The price for the service was the best in the five hotels we satyed at during this vacation. The hotel surroundings are safe and the restorant the staff recommended was excellent despite the shortness of waiters.

Beware security at the Hotel Gonzaga, 43 Via Vitruvio, Milan! We had two cases stolen from the Gonzaga’s lobby when we stayed there, even though one of the staff had assured us they would be safe. We left our luggage at the Gonzaga when we arrived on March 30 (our room wasn’t ready) and that was fine but when we checked out on April 1 and returned after a day’s sightseeing both cases were gone. What was worse the man on duty at the desk when we returned to find the suitcases gone was indifferent, unhelpful and unpleasant to the extent that he would not even help us find a police station to report the theft to. He would saccept no responsibility on behalf of the hotel or any responsibility to assist guests at a moment of distress. The Gonzaga Sunday night lobby guy even told me that if I had wanted a secure system for leaving luggage I should have gone to a more expensive hotel! I think 140 euros for a three-person room with indifferent breakfast is not cheap. We found a police station ourselves - a very helpful office on the Central Station where the officer processed our details in time for us to catch our train. You might need it if you stay at the Gonzaga and leave your luggage there. The room was fine and the location was convenient to the Central Station but if the hotel is not able to get a basic service of secure left luggage then it should not be on the Venere website and travellers should beware.

I found this hotel to be very much as advertised. It was clean, comfortable and safe. The hotel is on the third floor and access to the rooms available only by passing by the manned front desk. The room was very clean and of adequate size. The breakfast was fine. This was a very good business hotel or excellent for staying overnight. I arrived on a late train and had a flight out the next day so this was perfect. The gentleman at the desk was very helpful regarding the best venue (bus or train) to take to the airport.

My son and I stayed at Gonzaga for two nights and it fully lived up to our expectations based on comments from previous guests. It is exceptionally well placed being only a few minutes walk from the central station, metro and airport buses. The online map indicates it is on the north side of Via Vitruvio but it is most definitely on the south side. Its got a big sign outside so no real problem finding it as long as you are not convinced it is on the north side, as I was! Again, as others have said, it is not obvious that you have to take the lift to the third floor, to find reception. Accommodation clean and fully functional. Road noise noticeable with windows open but, as double glazed, not a major issue when closed. Breakfast (included in price) excellent. Staff spoke good English - always helpful although they do appear a little reserved. Good price for Milan and exactly as stated on website - no mysterious 'extras' which was a pleasant surprise. Many eating places nearby including no less than two MacDonalds for those who really cannot stand Italian food! Also internet cafe very close. It fully deserves its good ratings from guests and we would certainly stay there again.

Our stay at the Hotel Gonzaga was a very pleasant one. Due to illness we spent most of our 1 and a half day stay in Milan within the hotel. The hotel is about a 200 metre easy walk from Milano Centrale rail station. It occupies the 3rd floor of the building and in the early evening access is only via call button to staff, so is quite secure. All the staff were friendly and efficient and spoke good English. My 2 children and I shared a triple room which was enormous and very well furnished. Plenty of room to move around and for our belongings. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, with comfortable beds, air-con, fridge, etc. The breakfast which was included in our accommodation tariff was a very good continental style breakfast with fresh fruit, yoghurt, pastries, ham/cheese, etc. Nearby the rail station and the hotel is an internet cafe and several good trattoria, in particular the Caffe Guarney which is just across the road. We would definitely stay at the Hotel Gonzaga if we were to revisit Milan.

We were thoroughly impressed with the level of quality provided at Hotel Gonzaga. Situated very near to the Statione Centrale, it was easy to access public transport as well as getting into the heart of the city by taking a walk. The room was nicely furnished and very clean, the staff was a bit reserved but communication was no problem whatsoever. There was some kind of building activities in the adjacent yard, but never at night or midday. Hotel Gonzaga has an excellent price/performance ratio and we would recommend it to anyone travelling to Milan who searches for good bed&breakfast.

Three of us shared a room for just one night. We booked the Gonzaga at the last minute because our "regular" hotel in Milan was fully booked. We will defintitely stay there again. The location was ideal and the front desk staff charmingly helpful.

We stayed only for a night in a triple, but we enjoyed our stay a lot. The hotel is located very close the station and the room as well as the bathroom are clean, spacious and friendly. It all seems to be pretty new :) Only the stuff seemed a little reserved. But all in all, we would stay there again and reccomend it to anyone!

When we arrived at the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised at the nice reception area and quality of furnishings. Our room was very spacious and bathroom was modern and spacious. You could say we were pleasantly surprised. The hotel is located on the third floor of a very large building. We had to ask someone in the lower entry way because we didn't see any signage to indicate we were to go to the third floor. Although we were on a very busy street, the room was quiet. This is a good value for the money.

Nice hotel, though located on the third floor of a bussiness building. It has spacious and well colored rooms compared to other options at the same price level. I payed the same and stayed in smaller and above the average decorated rooms before at other hotels around the Stazione Centrale area. Moderate buffet breakfast and a bit noisy if you keep the window open as it is located on a busy street. But no problem if you keep the windows closed. The only problem i lived was that it was a non-smoking hotel which i wasn't aware of as there was no indication about it on the venere.com's info page. But the management and reception helped me find a way throught this. They were very helpful and warm from the start. Very close to the train station and metro terminals, and this is an absolute plus if you keep travelling in and around the city during your stay.
