Close to train station and reasonable price. However, the room smelled awful and the carpet was filthy.

Good value hotel very close to the railway station. I'd stay there again.

The room was spacious and clean and even though I was facing onto the main street it was quiet. The proximity to the train station made this an ideal base for being in Milan if you were there for a short time (would probably recomend staying in another area if you are in Milan for more than a couple of nights). It was an expensive hotel for what you got (but I understand this is typical of Milan accommodation), but the hotel staff were very helpful (especially the man on the night shift - make sure you ask him for restaurant recommendations!), it was clean and safe!

staff was helpful but not friendly...cold reception, but quite efficient.great location across from rail station, and easy to catch bus to/from Malpensa. Lots of other hotels on same street,Garda is best for short stay...breakfast was not great and not included...12E for really poor breakfast

Rooms were basic and not so pretty, but spacious and clean. Bathroom was clean, but the shower was small and we had a very poor water-flow from the showerhead. Staff was very friendly and helpfull and spoke English very well. Location was very convenient, very close to central station and the metro entrance was on the corner of the street. The area was quiet at night, but we (3 girls, 1 guy) didn't feel unsafe.(Wouldn't recommend walking around alone.) The hotel didn't have their own parking, but there was a guarded(paid) parking garage nearby. If you're on a tight budget, hotel Garda is a really good deal.

The price is a little bit high. And there's a strange smell in the room. The hotel is pretty close to the railway station (about 2 minutes' walk).

Good location. Very close to the central railway station and subway station (opposite). But a quiet street. Friendly personnel. Not noisy. Rooms clean. I have twice stayed in this hotel. In a single room. Different finishing rooms. The first time I did not like the number (old bedspread, furniture, but bathroom is normal). In other times was a very nice room and bathroom.

Spent one night at Hotel Garda because I had to catch the airport bus early in the morning to Malpensa from the Central Train Station in Milan. Location of hotel is great - 1 block from the train station. Excellent single room - small but very clean, very nice bathroom and great price. Marco, the night manager was very helpful and recommended an excellent and affordable pizza restaurant a few blocks away (not the poor quality tourist place down the street) - thank you! Would definitely stay here again. Not sure if there is any a/c - I opened the window. Great, practical small hotel in the heart of Milan...

The staff was really nice and helpful, the location of the hotel was very good - quite near to the railway central station. The room was small but very nice and well equiped. The walls are rather thin - you can hear lot of your neighbours ! The public hotel areas are very comfortable. The only thing to critize was the breakfast ! There was really few things to choose !

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The a/c didn't work well in my room and they gladly gave me a different room. Breakfast was generous especially for this price. The train station is 5 minutes away, and the metro even closer. The room is larger than many other single rooms I've had in Italian hotels.

We loved it here, although our first impression of the room was not fabulous. It was small and not luxurious, but clean and quiet and a terrific bargain. The people at the front desk were just incredibly professional and accomodating. The bathroom was great. We highly recommend Garda and would come again.

This hotel was OK in terms of the facilities but the service was just average. They didn't reallly try to hard to provide assistance beyond what was asked of them... What really upset me is that we were only staying for the night and were leaving early in the morning, the train was leaving at 730 so we checked out at 630 and they refused to let us have the "free" breakfast because it was before 7am, even though it was already out there. The receptionist even yelled at one other customer because they had taken some orange juice... just unacceptable!!! Also the bathroom' shower curtain was too short so every time we showered the whole bathroom became a pool. In terms of location is perfect becuase it's a block away from the train station and metro station... however I wouldn't recommend it for families as the area doesn't look safe... we even saw some prostitutes late at night :S

The hotel was great and gave us the chance to have an awesome cafe that offered incredible service. The only thing that I disliked was the fact that the front desk staff yelled at a chinese couple that grabbed some food from the breakfast area before 7:00 am, and told them that next time they have to wait until 7:00am....for Gods sake they were leaving...there may not be a next time.... I find that extremely disrespectful. But I have to admit that the hotel facilities were really good, bathroon was extremely clean.

La chambre était spacieuse, le personnel aimable. Aucune mauvaise surprise. Les environs proches de l'hotel n'ont rien de merveilleux mais le Duomo est facile d'accès en transport en commun, voir même à pieds. Petit bemol : la salle de bain qui etait un peu petite et la plomberie un peu vétuste.

I stayed in Garda as single traveler in February 2009. i choose this hotel due to its proximity to Central train station in Milan and also to metro station. From this location it was very easy to get to centre of Milan and also go by train Verona and Venice. At first I had concern about booking near central station, as it is known in general that area near central station is not safe for walking at night but I noticed that Garda hotel is located on a nice street a little outside of the station and was Ok. My room were clean, a bit old furniture but for price it was good value. Staff was helpful.

this is one of the best managed hotels in the area. being near the Milan station it is also a "red light area". the competent hotel management make sure that this does not disturb the hotel and run a professionally run hotel. Other hotels in the area, even those which are part of big chains, do not achieve this.

Friendly helpful staff. Nice room (504)although right next to the lift so a bit noisy at times. The breakfast was good although the coffee had an odd flavour. Although close to the station and Metro the area was always busy and we didn't feel unsafe at any time. There is a good restaurant with great pasta across the road called Fashion 2 and next to that is Bar Manhatten that serves good coffee. We would definitely stay here again.

The location is not the prettiest, but is very convenient for the Central station, which was what we needed. The rooms were very good value for money - as a regular business traveller in the UK I would expect to pay at least twice the price there. The staff were very helpful, and gave good advice on choice of restaurants. The very good value offered here would certainly encourage me to stay again if I were to return to Milan.

In great position, close to railway station, metro and shops. The room was too hot (in Autumn) and we could not adjust temp. We were able to open a window which had a security screen, this helped a bit. Although the site said internet was free, it was not the case.

Our stay was marred by the fact that our room was not ready when we arrived --check-in was supposed to be available anytime after 12 noon, but there was some problem with the doorknob on our assigned room, and initially the reception staff told us it should be available within 2 hours, but upon our return 3 hours later, it still wasn't available and by the time we were escorted to our room, it was 4 pm! And the doorknob still had problems - it was hard to get out of the room once we got in!! No compensation for our inconvenience was offered. The breakfast offered (free) is meagre at best...but we were catching a train to Paris and didn't have time to go elsewhere. This hotel is convenient to the train station which is why we originally chose it...but a little expensive for what is offered.

Hotel Garda doesn't understand hospitality. Told me I had to wait 1 hr to check in after I arrived at 11:30 a.m., and only made call to chambermaid to expedite my room preparation after I urged them. Wouldn't let me use internet terminal because of a silly rule that it can only be used between 11 am and 11 pm. I made my request at 10 am, big deal, a 1 hr difference. Such pettiness. Point is it seems Garda's instinct is to do what they want and not cater to a guest's reasonable needs. That being said, it is well located and within easy reach of Stazione Centrale, but Via Torriani (Garda's street) is lined with hotels, one after the other. There are other choices and I recommend staying elsewhere.

The room was okay with a nice size bathroom (hot water), semi-comfortable beds and a TV that didn't work. We were impressed with the evening desk help - they were helpful and took care of our needs. The daytime customer service at the front desk was not friendly and not very responsive to our questions.

The hotel is OK. Most of the staff was very educated and prompt to give you information and help you. The only and major problem was the incompetent reception of the employee during the check-in. This human being was like a "hollywood starlet", doing what he wanted to do and not attending to our questions, making us to wait and wait while he was performing his role with other people that arrived after we asked him the questions. Finally, after 10 long minutes we decided that it was enough and we left the concierge without an answer of this starlet. He was a point completely out of curve comparing with the rest of the hotel staff.

2 comments about hotel -- helpful housekeeper with information on running air conditioning but there was a perfumed scent to the room. The gentleman at desk was not very responsive to our request for a suggestion for a restaurant saying that it was hard to find restaurants open in Milan on Sunday and that was the end of the conversation! Belle Paise on via Superga is a good dinner spot -- not touristy and featuring seafood at a reasonable price.

This is a basic accommodation for the price. I needed it for overnight only. As a City hotel, some daytime external noise is inevitable, but the hotel itself was quiet. Overnight, the street outside was very quiet for 3 out of 4 nights. Hotel staff were courteous and very helpful especially when I was ill for 24 hours. Beds were comfortable and supportive - an extra pillow was supplied immediately on request. Location is measured from front of Central Station but note that coaches from Bergamo airport drop at side/rear in Piazza Luigi di Savola. Comfortable walking distance to central shopping area. I was a single traveler to Milan, and usually prefer a hotel close to the train station. In American terms, it was around 3-4 blocks from Centrale. So it was perfect. Clean, decent size room for a single occupant. Also very close to the Metro stations; so it was only a few stops to the Duomo and shopping areas. It wasn't a big deal taking the Metro. I would definitely stay there again given the property characteristics and price.

Milan was a staop over city for me and I needed a place that would be easy to catch a train the following morning......BULLSEYE!!! I couldn't have picked a hotel that was closer to the station and there was a great pizza place across the street!!! The room was perfect. I didn't really explore too much since I was there for only a total of 11 hours. If you are wanting to be close the train station in an area that was clean and safe then this is the place for you.

A very pleasant hotel, quiet yet convenient for the Central Station. Excellent value for the rates charged. Reception staff particularly noteworthy in their interest to ensure provision of exact requirements, even down to the e-mail asking whether we wanted a double or twin beds! Also good advice on dining etc. Room perfectly adequate, clean with a good sized bathroom. Interestingly, the hotel has 2 lifts, one serving the front rooms and one for the rear; the quieter rooms are probably accessed via the rear lift.

This place is close to the train station. Not a bad hotel, BUT. for some innane reason they turn off their Wifi at 11 pm and don't turn it on until 11Am. when I asked why, they had some ridiculous answer about not wanting people hanging out in the lobby. OH! God forbid you have your customers hanging out in your lobby. I would not stay here again. there are about 3 other hotels across the street that I'm sure DON'T turn off their WiFi. ther is a wonderful upscale restaurant about fifty feet to the left of the Hotel as you walk out.

Good hotel with nice friendly staff. Good location near the Central Station although this area can be a bit dodgy at night (I didn't have any problems though). Transport links are great with 2 metro lines and a couple of tram lines just 2 minutes from the hotel. There are a few restaurants near the hotel but I would venture a bit further afield for greater choice. The only thing that I was a little disappointed with was the lack of fruit and wholemeal bread at breakfast. There was a good choice of breakfast items but it was largely cakes/pastries, white rolls, cereal and yoghurts. The air conditioning worked well although I couldn't figure out how to turn it on, but the man at the front desk sent someone up to help me. Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would go back if I could get a similar price. I paid 50 Euros for a single room.

The hotel, and my room, was very nice. The staff were lovely, and very helpful. My bags were carried to my room for me, and all the room and hotel facilities were explained and demonstrated to me. Because there were no tea and coffee facilities in the room (why, oh why don't European hotels supply these???)the porter supplied me with hot water to make my own when ever I asked for it. He was most charming. The hotel facilities were excellent. The only down side is the area in which the hotel is located. I am a single female traveller, but not a nervous type, and I certainly would not go out in the area after dark. This, and the fact that I was not enamoured with Milan and will not be going there again, is the only reason I would not return to this hotel. If this hotel was in any other location, I would cheerfully stay there again.

Very pleasant and helpful staff. Our room was the very clean, large and well furnished. The air conditioner worked wonderfully. This hotel is located on a street next to four other hotels and is an easy 5-7 minute walk from the Train station. I can't say enough about this hotel given the terrible experience we had at the Gonzaga Hotel. You can read my review of that hotel for the details, but avoid it like the plague and stay here, you won't be disappointed. This hotel is on a quiet street, there is internet access in the lobby on the hotel computer very reasonably priced.

This hotel wasn't extravagant...but sufficed for an overnight stay. The room was big as far as European hotels go…but I wasn't too impressed with the service from the start. I arrived at the property about 3PM and was told that my room wouldn't be ready for at least 30 minutes. The hotel staff suggested that I take a walk around Milan and to “take [my] time, as it may take longer than 30 minutes” before my room was ready. The email confirmation I received from Venere stated "the rooms are available at any time after 12.30 a.m. If the room is available, check-in is possible as early as 9 a.m." Also, regarding use of the Internet Point, the email from Venere stated "The use of the Internet Point is included in the price." However, this was not true. The hotel charges for use of their computer and mentioned nothing of the wireless service that is available (I discovered the wireless service myself as I browsed for an open wireless network on my laptop from the room). Also, the window in my room was literally falling off its hinges. I had to be very careful not to let it fall off and on top of me. One last piece of advice: Beware of the thieves at Stazione Centrale. There were about a dozen young boys (10-12) actively robbing tourists as they exited and entered the train station and crossed the streets to get to their hotels.

A hotel well suited for City Breaks, close to the tube and airport links. Probably a bit far out from the centre for those that don't like/want to walk a lot. For those that do it is great. I liked the location, friendliness of staff and cleanliness of Hotels. On the down side the breakfast was a bit meagre and the hotel was the noisiest I have stayed in. The lift and doors making most of the din. It was so noisy that we asked to move room and the hotel to their credit moved us for no extra cost. There are plenty of good restaurants, gelataries and even a market in the vicinity. I would use the hotel again.

Hotel in posizione strategica per chi viaggia. La mia camera, di discrete dimensioni per essere una singola, risultava recentemente ristrutturata e dotata di bagno da poco rifatto. Direi superiore ad alcuni quattro stelle "datati"

Take note, this is the quietest hotel I've ever stayed at in Europe! Excellent service & value; close to a metro stop & easy to find; largest bathroom I've seen in Europe too. I will definitely stay here again.

The location was ok, but I would not recommend it for a tourist visit. The hotel seemed more oriented for business travelers and not all the staff was very helpful with information.

Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis exellent.Auswahl zum Frühstück (für unsere Verhältnisse) könnte etwas reichhaltiger sein. Freundlicher und kompetenter Empfang. Service einwandfrei. Hotel ist nur zu empfehlen!

Very close to milan central train station. Staff were welcoming, room was very quiet (good for me, as I'm a light sleeper). A good place to stay.

We didn't know that the hotel was THAT close to the Central Station, so we took a cab. DON'T! It's 3 min walking. The welcoming was good, the room ok, but the breakfast wasn't anything to brag about. The worlds smallest elevator. Very central area, easy to get to the Domen with the tube.
