I have stayed at the Hotel Garda twice -- very convenient to the Stazione Centrale with quick metro and tram connections to the city centre. The room was slightly faded but spacious, quiet and clean. The staff are very polite and the public areas are attractive. Not a luxury hotel but perfectly comfortable and acceptable in all regards. It offers good value and I would return there again.

Lovely, "classic" hotel close to Central train station. Although it is a 4-stop metro ride from the Duomo downtown core, it is actually a pleasant 30-minute walk through the Giardini gardens (and the lovely Museum of Modern Art) through residential neighbourhoods. Great staff, very clean and comfortable. A very pleasant stay.

If you just need a place to sleep, it's a great option. The Staff are very kind and the information that give you to make better your stay it's very useful. The breakfast it's maybe the only thing that it isn't very good for the price, and some rooms could be not very quiet from the noise of the street, but for sure I could return to this hotel if I have to come back to Milan.

My single room was small but clean, and the staff were courteous. The location is ideal for trains and metro, and I found it easily enough using the website's directions. My only real gripe is having to pay for an internet connection, which was free in all my other Italian hotels. All in all, this is a pretty run-of-the-mill budget hotel, but handy location and reasonable cost (for Milan) more than make up for lack of character.

Garda hotel offers a rare mix of advantages: conveniently located very near to Milano Centrale, quiet, very clean, equipped with two lifts (albeit small)and rather cheap for all these combined advantages. Welcoming is not exactly warm but courteous and businesslike. This was my third stay at Garda Hotel, this time with my eight-year old child and I would strongly recommend this hotel.

The drainer in our bathroom is blocked. We have to take a shower as quick as we can in order to avoid water overflowed. I didn't have time to tell the staff in the next morning since I have to catch a train. However, tell them in the afternoon, but the guy at the front said nothing they can do because I just tell them. That's not an excuse. They should take some kind of responsibility

The Hotel Garda was in close proximity of the Central Milan Station. The service from staff was very good even when arriving at 11 pm at night. This was a nice hotel however we had one big problem, our room was right next to the elevator which was incredibly noisy at all hours. Room was very noisy. It was hot outide and the window would not stay open and there was no air conditioning. Very unconfortable. You could not call the front desk as the phone did not work. Front desk personnel were not friendly (afternoon shift). No WiFi and front desk was not helpful in sharing where you could find WiFi. Hotel Garda is conveniently located, just a few steps from the central train station. Not for those looking for luxury, but it's perfectly adequate and practical for a short stay. One notable negative is that the room smelled quite strongly of air freshener/carpet deodoriser. But the room itself was in good order. The bathroom was in fact rather large by italian standards. At EUR 58 per night (single room, no breakfast), it served my purpose at good value.

The hotel is definitly okay for the price, staff was helpful, rooms clean, bath spacious. However, if your room is facing the backside of the hotel you will have to deal with a very noisy aircondition exhaust, in our case it was right next to our window. If you don't like sleeping with your windows closed and/or aircondition turned on, this hotel is not for you.

Only real problem was traffic noise during the day - I worried that this might make it hard to sleep, but the street was quiet at night so not a problem. Desk staff spoke English well and were friendly and helpful. The area around the hotel is not one of the more appealing ones in Milan, but the convenience of being so close to the train station more than compensated for this for us. Took us some time to figure out how to turn on the a/c unit (button was not labeled) but that's pretty par for the courses in European hotels. All in all, nothing fancy but seemed like a good deal if convenience and comfort are your top priorities.

I had a single room that was beautifully decorated and appointed. The only negative was the shower--which was just a ceramic plate with a shower curtain that did not touch the bottom, so water leaked on the floor. I had a fabulous rate--the price posted im my room was over 3 times higher! Neighborhood (near Centrale Stazione) has many good restaurants, but there are so many Thai "message parlors" around it looked like Bangkok! Fashion 2 restaurant, across street and very close, has very reasonably priced, good food, but is usually busy.

Excellent location for Central Station and airport buses plus access to city centre. Helpful and effective reception. We had a small double room with en suite shower which was all clean and fresh. Very happy with accommmodation and as described on the internet - no nasty surprises. Rooms spotless, a comfy bed and all facilities working well. Only negative is that once you are through the smart reception area the corridor that we were on was a bit tired looking - it's a shame but this seems to be the case with so many hotels. We travelled by train to Arona on Lake Maggiore on the 2nd day and the hotel was really close to the station - a short five minute walk away. We also walked to and from Milan centre which wasn't too onerous though there are plenty of buses and trams everywhere. Would definitely use the hotel again and recommend it.

The room was spacious and clean and even though I was facing onto the main street it was quiet. The proximity to the train station made this an ideal base for being in Milan if you were there for a short time (would probably recomend staying in another area if you are in Milan for more than a couple of nights). It was an expensive hotel for what you got (but I understand this is typical of Milan accommodation), but the hotel staff were very helpful (especially the man on the night shift - make sure you ask him for restaurant recommendations!), it was clean and safe!

Rooms were basic and not so pretty, but spacious and clean. Bathroom was clean, but the shower was small and we had a very poor water-flow from the showerhead. Staff was very friendly and helpfull and spoke English very well. Location was very convenient, very close to central station and the metro entrance was on the corner of the street. The area was quiet at night, but we (3 girls, 1 guy) didn't feel unsafe.(Wouldn't recommend walking around alone.) The hotel didn't have their own parking, but there was a guarded(paid) parking garage nearby. If you're on a tight budget, hotel Garda is a really good deal.

Spent one night at Hotel Garda because I had to catch the airport bus early in the morning to Malpensa from the Central Train Station in Milan. Location of hotel is great - 1 block from the train station. Excellent single room - small but very clean, very nice bathroom and great price. Marco, the night manager was very helpful and recommended an excellent and affordable pizza restaurant a few blocks away (not the poor quality tourist place down the street) - thank you! Would definitely stay here again. Not sure if there is any a/c - I opened the window. Great, practical small hotel in the heart of Milan...
