Very nice hotel, clean and close to the underground station. this is a "1 star" hotel, so I consider myself very satisfied and I suggest this hotel if you want to visit Milan and not to spend much money.

The hotel has a very good location (about 100 meters to the subway) and camera (not very big, but still reasonable in size) was clean and was maintained every day. Immediately in the left of the exit of the hotel is a small restaurant where you can dine at a reasonable price. The only grievance was that the room was on the street side and was quite noisy.

A good location, really 2 minutes walk to metro and 10 min by it to Duomo. Bathroom (not private) is very clean! The room is good, especially we liked a big balcony. One minus - some people come late at night and ring the bell for several minutes. Or they become to speak veeeery loudly. So it's impossible not to wake up. But all the rest is very good!

'Great if you're in Milan to watch the football, within walking distance of the San Siro and also two minutes from the metro. The hotel is fine, nice restaurant next to it and also a bar - clearly for those of the Inter persuasion. My only complaint about the hotel was that it was really noisy in terms of my room looking out on the street and being next to the reception. If I'm back I'll make sure the room is neither of these - 'would go back, decent value for the cost.

The hotel is easy to get to from the nearby Metro. A few local cafes and restaurants. A large supermarket just around the corner too. The San Siro is a 20 minute walk from this hotel, ask for a map at reception, English speaking too.

Good location if you are visiting the san siro - 20 minute walk away. Make sure you go there - I saw a champions league game (AC v Marseille, 25 November 2009) amazing! The hotel itself is a little hostel like, and can be a little noisy as the walls are thin. For the price though - 40 euros per night - you can't complain. Shared bathroom, but that's not so bad as there aren't many rooms in the hotel. Balconies in the rooms, and cable TV. I'd stay again, yes - good choice for the lone traveller on a budget.

We went there for one night only to watch AC Milan game.Everything was as described on the website.Receptionist spoke little English, but the night porter didn't understand a word.We slept only four hours in the hotel and for that length of stay it was perfect.I wouldn't recommend for a longer stay due to shower cabin in the room (litteraly you can see your roommates showering + shower door didn't close properly)and no private toilet in the room, although location is quite good - 2 min walk from metro station.

Too pricy for a low quality B&B service, hotel gambara? forget the 'hotel' part, more like a B&B w/no breakfast. However, well positioned. Close to metro station (we drove there, if you don't know Milan, & you're arriving late at night w/no GPS..a bit hard) ideal (if that's the correct adjective) for a 1 night stay, which was our case. We were glad to leave.. Ah, and if you don't know italian...better learn some useful sentences i you're planning to stay here..well, you should do it even if you choose to stay in a better place. Italian is a beautiful language!

The employees are very friendly. There is a lovely ristorante just near by the hotel and the subway station only 150 meter away. The bad thing is we waked up by the screeched of the bus stopping in the morning.

We had a triple with shared bathroom though the shower cubicle itself was in the room and when I say IN the room I mean next to my bed and the glass was pretty tranparent. Those who are shy enough to exhibite in front of the roomates have the opportunity to use the shared bathroom. Although was a funny moment when we opened a mini-bar and found a trashbin in there. The staff was ok though the old man didn't speak English. Was pretty noisy as there's a local bar nextdoor. The location is good, very close to the metro-station.

Hotel Gambara is a great hotel for the price. It's not fancy, but was clean and quiet. It's close to the metro and was perfect for our one-night stay in Milan. The ceiling fan was fantastic and kept the room cool. This is a no-frills hotel -- don't expect extras! -- But if you want budget travel we highly recommend this hotel and would stay there again if traveling in or through Milan. (Note that this hotel is NOT close to the Milano Centrale! -- We took two metro lines to get there...)

We were a little disappointed with the commuting distance of this hotel to the centre of Milan. Even though the room was clean. it was tired, and the shower drain did not perform its job very well. We were pleased with the two cafes, fruit store and bakery in walking distance of the hotel and even though the dishwashing downstairs in the restaurant kept us awake at night, we enjoyed an excellent meal there and the host was very generous and gracious. All in all an unremarkable hotel in an unremarkable suburb, but it was also a very cheap option if you have a layover in MIlan as accessibility to the airport train is quite good. The desk clerks were always present and helpful.

Great neighborhood; near Metro. Access a bit unusual. The internal use of the spiral stairs was a bit of an obstacle. Loved the ambiance of the old elevator. Room was very comfortable and spacious. Bath was new. Only objection was a dispute between our printed price of 55 Euros and the billed price of 60 Euros at check out. Felt bamboozled and angered. No time to find resolution with language barrier.

The night watchman wasn't very welcoming at first, probably because didn't speak English, but once we started talking to him he was very nice. He told us about a really good place for dinner. We were surprised because on the website, it said shared bathrooms and showers, but when we got there the room had its own shower and sink, which was really nice. The location is a little far from the city centre but very close to a metro station. There was a lot of traffic noise and a few bars on the street immediately below our room, so we had to sleep with earplugs. If I were to go back to Milan, I'd stay at a B&B or hostel for the same price.

I just now noticed that this was a one star hotel. I must have missed it when I initially booked it. Anyway, to me it was the same as staying in a two star hotel. Their is nothing special about the area where the hotel is. It's relatively quite. I was fortunate to get a room off the courtyard, otherwise I could see how the noise from the people hanging outside of the restuarants could be annoying. I stayed in a room with a bathroom and shower which was nice. The bed was a single, so if you're not a small person like I am, you might be uncomfortable. The hotel is close to resuarants, a number of grocery stores, and the metro. The only bad thing about the hotel was that the lights were out in the stairway leading up to the reception area, which is about 3 flights of steps. It is actually pretty dangerous. I noticed a couple of chunks missing from a couple of the stairs which could cause someone to fall. They should really fix that.

My stay was for 1 night, and I stayed in a room right beside the front door. The room was very spaciousness and had an en suite shower. The toilet was in a shared bathroom at the end of the hall. This description matches exactly what was reserved. For 55 euro/night this room was great value. If you are a light sleeper bring ear plugs.

We had a pleasant and interesting experience at this hotel. The service is good and the owners don't speak much english but are always happy to help as much as possible. The entrance to the reception area is not very appealing as you have to climb up 3 flights of dark and dingy stairs but once you make it all the way upto the reception its not that bad. Rooms are basic and the attached bath in our room was tiny but very clean. I thought we paid too much for the room but from what I've heard, hotels in Milan are on the expensive side. Location of hotel (once you actually find it) is excellent as it is 2 mins away from the metro and the heart of milan is only a 10 min train ride away. I would recommend this hotel to budget travellers.

One manager spoke good English & was very helpful; the other no English and we did not get on too well. Gambara was near the Metro and was a great jumping off point. We bought food at the local supermarket - so much cheaper than eating out. 'Americano' coffee is 1/2 to 1/3 the price of late etc. Ciao

The hotel was a one floor, one star hotel in a building between two restaurants. The hotel is great if you are just looking for a good price and a bed to sleep in. The room was big and had a little balcony. The shower was at the end of the hallway and there is only one bathroom if you don't have one in your room. Overall it is a good stay if you are just looking for a cheap place to stay.

My girlfriend and I liked this hotel. Unpretentious, clean, excellent value for the 65E a night for two. We had a satisfactory room with private bathroom, and a little balcony facing the street and rather charmless cityscape. There are courtyard rooms without balconies. Downstairs there's a good fish and pizza restaurant run by Egyptians. Round the corner one way there are a couple of cafes and round the other corner an Italian family restaurant. The Gambara metro stop is about 200 metres away and Gambara is on the same line as Cadorna, the station serving Malpensa airport. It takes about 20 minutes to get from the hotel to the Duomo. This is not picturesque or romantic, but a small, simple place, two floors of a residential building with elevator. Staff are friendly. You want to roost simply and modestly and save your money for art or fashion or food? The Gambara is for you.

The location was good. The hotel was basic and clean. The two restaurants beneath made it noisy until at least midnight both nights we were there. The floors were joined by a small spiral staircase that was poorly lighted and somewhat scary. The lift took us to the second floor entrance and then we had to go down the stairs to our room on the first floor. There was a fire escape door that we could use to exit. I suggest they give people keys to it to save their having to use that tiny spiral stair. The room also smelled of smoke. We didn't meet anyone at the hotel. It looked like it would serve people of lesser means, but the price we paid was as much as we paid for much nicer places in Venice, Florence, and other towns in Italy. It should be priced about 60E in comparison.

The staff (Old man) was very bad. When we arrived he had a bad behavior with us. He could not speak English and he told us that we should speak Italian or Spanish!!!! But two other staff were a little better. The light of the room was very bad. I guess a 40 Watt lamp in the room. The room were very small. The are no hot water (there was a machine but it gave us cold water not hot!!!) The mini bar was a very small refrigerator with some coke and fanta! The Bathroom was very small. If you have more than 90 Kg weight you can not move in it!! I hate this hotel and I will not back to this hotel never and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

We were surprised by the fact that we got a bathroom of our own instead of a shared one (as we had booked) - and didn't have to pay more. The rooms are ok and clean. Depending on which side of the building you're sleeping it does get loud at night, so if you're used to sleep with an open window it will probably disturb you. All in all we were pretty happy though with Gambara - it is cheap and closer to the city centre than one might think.

This is a cheap hotel for Milan, but totally fine to stay in. It's a bit removed from the center of town, although by the end of my stay I figured out I could easily walk to more central areas. It's very close to a subway stop, and it's safe even late at night. There is only one single room, and it is tiny. However, it is also very quiet and has a nice bathroom. The double room I was in for a few nights was close to the reception and noisy. They do a good job of cleaning, and the guys at the front desk are very friendly and helpful. But it's not fancy...the front desk is just a tiny cubby with a guy sitting there. They have to buzz you in from the street, then you walk into a courtyard, and up a couple flights of stairs. I was quite happy there and would recommend it to anyone who is independent and doesn't want/need anything fancy.

My first visit to Milan and, after some initial problems getting to our room upon arrival (I didn't arrive until 6 a.m. after a delayed flight and the porter didn't speak English and asked us to come back the following day), I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The hotel is excellent value for money. My girlfriend and I had an en-suite bathroom and the room was an excellent size. The majority of the staff also spoke very good English, I think that we were just unlucky getting the night man! With regards to location, the hotel was perfect for the San Siro Stadium and was only a ten minute metro ride into the centre of Milan, with the nearest metro station to the hotel literally around the corner. Due to it's location on the outskirts of the city, not many people in the restaurants immediately surrounding the hotel speak English, however, on the whole they are very friendly and willing to help you. I'd give the pizzeria immediately next door to the hotel a miss though, they don't seem to like the English and we received particularly poor service there. But all in all an excellent hotel if you're looking for a budget trip to Milan, I'd definitely consider staying there again if I go back

Hotel Gambara was a disappointment, mainly because of the location of the hotel. It is far from the center of Milan and it is located in a fairly gray and depressing neighborhood. The actual hotel is on the second floor of an apartment building and the staircase up to the hotel was rather dark and sketchy (not a good first impression). The actual room was clean, albeit the hotel was just bleak. In general, I would avoid Milan all together if doing a trip through Italy.

30L of hot water in the heater then wait 45 minutes for more. Impossible to get a consistent water temperature in the shower. Very large and comfy bed. Sparse furnishings. Very small circular stairs down a floor to the rooms with private baths. NO breakfast. 50 euro won't get you much in Milan. Supermarket a half-block away. Subway station 2 blocks away. No-charge street parking was easy so I didn't use the 13 euro hotel parking. Staff was agreeable to minding luggage after checkout.

Hotel Gambara is good value for money, and is definitely very convenient. When you alight from the Gambara metro station, walk out of the subway station and look out for the Supermercato. Walk towards it, and pass the block housing the supermercato. Do a left turn, and you should see the hotel opposite the road. We got lost trying to find the hotel. There is a restaurant at the main piazza just outside the station, which does a mean seafood pizza.. Yummy..! Hotel Gambara is a good place to stay if you just need a place/bed for the night. It's basic, and the rooms facing the road can be rather noisy. Although it is quite run down, at least the sheets and towels are clean. One of the staff doesnt speak English, so it can be a bit of a challenge trying to communicate.

The hotel is on 2rd floor, there is a pub on 1th floor. And the hotel is behind subway train path. I can't sleep and take any rest all night. My friend's bed is broken. Trust me and don't go there.

The cost was reasonable... however it was difficult to find and was located farther from the metro than it claimed. An overall simple, comfortable stay with no complaints.

It's just a big appartement with a few rooms in a residential area. The rooms are very simple, only the minimum. By metro, 15 min to Duomo and 30 min to central railway station.

The hotel itself is located in very good place (just 100 meters from metro station) and is very easy to find, also the rooms are clean and the price is really cheap, however, the employees' English is very poor so that you have to show everything on your hands or better start to learn some Italian before arrival :-))

We stayed for 5 nights in a double-bed room with bathroom. It was kind of loud, because of the street. But all in one, it was a good stay. It is also not far away from the metro, so that you can reach the center city fast and easily. On the way to the metro are supermarkets and bakery´s were we bought our breakfast very cheap.During the day is also a streetmarket nearby (approx.10 minutes walk)where u can buy fresh fruits and other.

This hotel is located in a quite area with a supermarket nearby. However, it is not near any attractions. It's close to a metro station and you probably need to take the metro to other parts of the city. Overall, the hotel is clean and safe. It's reasonable for its price. The staff is very helpful.

The only thing we found wrong with this hotel was the mattress. It had definite indentations you had to stick within or you would have springs in your back/side/etc. If you stayed within the indentations, it was comfortable enough. The hotel was very clean and close to the subway. The balcony was a nice bonus. The area was a little noisy with the balcony doors open, but if you stayed there in a season where they would be shut, you probably wouldn't notice the street noise. The manager was very friendly and directed us to an excellent low-cost restaurant a few blocks away for dinner. All in all, it was a good bargain.

We had a very good stay. Try to get one of the rooms on the back side of this very small hotel (10 rooms). Just a 2 minute walk of the subway which brings you to the center in 10 minutes.

Close to the underground, the hotel is clean but no breakfast available and far too noisy! We've even had to buy earplugs!!

The perfect combination between quality and price. An easy way to "jump" in the centre of Milano or to reach every part of the city without problems. Good welcome; highly recommended!

A budget hotel which offered the bare minimum. Ideal for single guys or a group of guys on a tight budget, but I don't think it is the ideal place for a couple, certainly not for any romantic inspiration! Shared bathroom (containing the only toilet!) for all guests. Served the purpose of a bed and somewhere to stay, but wouldn't come back here.

Located in an old building with a small and uncomfortable elevator, it's a good choice if you are looking for a cheap accomodation not far from the center of Milan and near a Metro station. You have a lot of restaurants nearby and you can have a ride to Piazza Piemonte. The single I choosed was with the bathroom and it was clean enough, there is just an annoyingly small winding staircase from reception floor to rooms floor but, apart from this, I liked the hotel and I would have gladly returned if just the room was available.

Wanted somewhere to sleep during the Formula 1 period. Staff were very helpful, kept documents in a safe for me. Wasn't exactly enamoured by the stairs, someone left the lift door open one time, don't know where it was at the time. :-( Excellent restaurant next door, also a bar the other side of the archway. Shortish walk to Metro, easy to get to either train station for journey to/from Monza and Lake Como (must not miss!). Tended to be noisy early morning and late evening, otherwise room excellent. A good budget hotel.

It was the first time I went at Hotel Gambara. I had reserved a room for three people with bathroom into the room. I was a little sady when I saw the room;there was a big difference between the photography and the real room!!But my boyfriend said me that it correspond to his attempts because of the emplacement of the hotel (close to the stadium).
