Good hotel for one or two night stay in Milan. Close to Central station and the metro if you don't want to walk the 25 mins or so to the Duomo. Helpful staff, decent sized room, continental breakfast average for this type of small hotel. Good value.

We stayed at the hotel for 7 nights. We were suprised when the hotel was in a street were everything of shops looked closed and it was not nice at all. When we asked about which places in Milano the employee would recommend, he recommened us to go to Venezia instead of Milano even though we had reserved the hotel for a week. We liked the appearance of the room and were suprised about how nice it was compared with the price. With aircondition it was an ok room, but the beds were so hard that we had problems to sleep, and had to sleep until late in the morning because we were so tired. The manager almost didn`t speak English, and some of the employees was almost as bad as the manager. We had a very bad experience when a pianist was practicing until late at night. After one of the nights had been especially bad we complained about this to the manager on the hotel, and he said that we could choose to change the room, but next time he said: "You call me, I knock on the door of the maestro, this will be ok". Then we didn`t change the room. When the night came and the pianist started to practice again, the man in the reseption didn`t knew about the agreement, and said we had to wait to the next morning to change the room. We were really exhausted from the night before and felt that this was a untenable agreement. I asked him to call the manager, but he didn`t remeber the agreement either. This was very disappointing. We got a new room which we slept in this night, but the next day when we were traveling to Bergamo (a trip we allready had delayed one day because we were exhausted because of the pianoplaying at night), the trip were almost distroyed because we had to sleep too long in the morning and were tired the whole day. The employee said at night when he talked with the manager in italian, that we could have the two rooms until we had came back from Bergamo the next day. But the next morning the wife of the manager knocked on the door and said that if we wanted

We stayed in Hotel Charly for three nights at the end of our trip to Italy. We had an excellent stay and found it to be comfortable and really well located, only a few minutes walk from the central railway staion, close to the shuttles to the airports and only a couple of blocks from the major shopping precinct. The desk staff were great, very helpful with restaurant recommendations, directions, room air conditioning and extending our reservation from one night to three nights without a room change. The room was excellent with a great outlook over gardens, but didn't have a bar fridge so we appreciated that the desk staff were happy to keep some drinks cold for us in the hotel breakfast room. A tip is - ask for a garden view room or room not on the ground floor if you're booking ahead as we observed from the street that ground floor rooms fronting the street have security grills preventing window shutters from being opened.

It is not near the main train station in Milan but it is not too far and it is easy to walk. But wallpaper's lost from some parts of the wall. (Just a little detail to comment but not good to see it) I think it is quiet and atmosphere is like at home.

Room was nice. Staff was helpful. Good balcony to the back yard. Near the main railway station. Good restaurants round. Breakfast was modest, but satisfying. Could come again. First time in Milan and the location is good what comes to the buses from airports. Not actually a very cheap hotel, but probably ok compare to the general price level in in Milan.

My wife and I stayed here in May 2008 and were happy with this hotel. It's loacted in a quite street and our room was at the rear of the hotel overlooking private backyards. The hotel is within easy walking distance of the train station (and the metro) and we gather by Milan standards, was quite reasonably priced. It was also handy for us as the Hertz office was also near the station to drop off our hire car. So, we did pick this hotel for location, but would recommend it as a reasonable quality budget hotel.

We arrived late and parked on the street in front of the hotel with no problems. We were initially put in the wrong room which had a strange odor and was very small and uninviting. The front desk called and told us of their mistake and we moved to a better room. It was clean and quiet. The hotel was a little hard to find but overall it was a good experience and I would stay again as long as I didn't get that first room on the first floor.

The hotel staff is very kind. Upon seeing that my wife needed assistance because of a disability they gave us a choice of two rooms where we would not have to walk up any stairs. The room we took had a lovely view of the garden. It was nice to see the greenery in such a bustling city. For a two star hotel we have no complaints other than the room and bath are very small. The hotel is convenient to the Central Railway station and elsewhere. For expensive Milan, the hotel is reasonably priced.

This is a small, charming hotel with a friendly, helpful staff. It is within close walking distance of a number of good restaurants and the train station, and close to a stop on the hop-on, hop-off tour bus. Although the neighborhood is a bit seedy, the hotel is well kept and comfortable. It is certainly a good value. A nice breakfast room, and the tiny lobby bar can provide simple drinks, but is not well stocked. There are a number of larger hotels nearby, but they are significantly more expensive.

The hotel is located in a side street in Milano. Public transportation is 5 mins away and walking downtown is around 40 mins. This is important since even on Saturdays Public transport stops at 12:30 am! Parking is available at the hotel yard for EUR 10 a day but requires reservation As usually forget about the breakfast (not included in rooms rate) as a coffee specialty and some preserved bread rolls/croissants for EUR 10 is all you can expect, even though the garden is nice. There are plenty of local bars serving breakfast around. The main transstation is 10 mins walking away and in the area are plenty of restaurants as well as a market on Saturdays. Night out would be best in the area of "Brera" but do not expect low prices (0,4 ltr beer up to EUR 10)

Excellent value for price and practical location between Central station and Via Buenos Aires one of the main shopping avenues leading towards the city center. Saturdays a market is close by, good public transportation connections (subways 6 minutes to city center), roughly 30 minutes straight walking to city center. Well kept and freshly renovated small hotel, quiet even to the residential street. Rooms have special windows. Not spacious but tidy and functional rooms. Rooms to the wonderful garden may be a little more expensive but worth it. Breakast included, but Italian.

Hotel Charly was a great little place to stay which is made even better due to its close proximity to to Milan's Central Railway station. If you don't mind walking around a bit and doing a little shopping/sight seeing, then just 2 or so streets away from the hotel heading towards the Duomo is a street called Buenes Aires (i think) which has a big variety of upmarket as well as many affordable other stores including but no limited to shoe and clothing stores.

We were pleasently surprised by hotel Charlie. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable, and we had our own sink and bidet. There was no disturbance from any other guests. The shared bathroom was also extremely clean and had a lock on the door for privacy. The hotel is in a convenient location, situated just 2 minutes walk from the Central Station. The Duomo (central Milan) is an approx 15-20 minute walk, and there is also a tube station nearby, as well as numerous tram and bus stops. I would certainly choose Charly again upon a return trip to Milan.

Hotel Charley was exactly as we expected; we needed a a hotel close to the train station, with a comfortable room in which to relax and recover from our long flight, before leaving the next morning for our final destination. It was a short walk from the station, and easy to find. We were pleased by the friendly reception, the clean room, and adequate bathroom. The room wasn't air-conditioned but there was a fan and it was quite comfortable for the one night that we were there. The staff was helpful and provided us with several retaurant options for dinner that evening (we felt fortunate that we chose "The Kitchen", as we had a great meal in a quiet space and friendly service). The hotel was very quiet and the neighborhood was also quiet, at least for the night. The next morning was a bit noisy with a few delivery trucks and motorbikes, but we were waking up anyway and it didn't matter. The breakfast was simple; good cappucino, yogurt, and pastries. Overall, a very good value and accurately represented in Venere.

This is actually walking distance from the central station and Beunos Aires get a good map, free at a tourist office and you'llfind the hotel is in a pretty good position. We were in a double ensuite which was small and the balcony didn't really provide a view, it had a very high wall, i don't know what the other rooms were like in this regard. One afternoon there was piano instruction taking place through the wall which got annoying after a while since volume control was out of our hands, but since we were out mostly during the day this wasn't an issue for us. night time was pleasantly quite and rooms were kept clean. Breakfast was lovely and the bar space was great for relaxing in after a day of walking.

The hotel is a good choice. Close to the railway station but nice surroundings, quiet street. Small, charming building with garden, polite staff. Room size is not too big but enough for 2, the shower is OK, heating worked. Some inconveniences: - only 2 small shower-gels were in the bathroom when we arrived and we didn't get any more during our stay (3 nights). - the safe-box in the cupboard was not fixed at all, so we didn't consider it safe and didn't use it for this reason. - neither on the home-page nor on the reservation form it was not indicated that the price doesn't include the breakfast.

The room was exactly as shown on venere. It was a very nice room, spacious and clean. The bathroom was a good size and very clean also. The staff were extremely accommodating, particularly since we asked one staff member to make a couple of telephone calls for us to help us out of our jam with our pre-arranged and paid for rental car that we were to pick up from near the railway station. Future visitors to Milan please note: CAR TRAFFIC IS COMPLETELY BLOCKED ON SUNDAYS FROM 8.00 TO 20.00. Only locals may circulate in the city, and there were very few of those in evidence! We had no way of getting out of Milan except by train, which we were NOT anticipating! We were very grateful to the staff for their help and with Intermediate level of Italian language study, a bit of French and some English too, we were able to get everything sorted out. Definitely, the hotel represents outstanding value for money. I can only imagine how lovely it must be to savour a cappucino in their beautiful garden which we enjoyed from inside the solarium (which, it must be said, was also very pleasant.) The price was exactly as stated on venere. I took along my email confirmation from venere just to be sure, and everything was exactly as indicated. I would enthusiastically recommend The Charly to anyone.

Very useful if you are coming by train, is very close to the main train station and to public subway. Avoid if you are arriving by car: is quite impossible to park in the sorruonding and parking cover € 18 overnight.

A nice, clean hotel in a great location on a quiet street 3 blocks from the central train station. Rooms were small but spotless, beds were hard but sufficient, staff was very helpful and friendly. Nice breakfast on the enclosed porch. Excellent cappucino! We would return here without hesitation.

This is my second stay at Charly, and I now consider it my hotel in Milano.

The location of Charly is very convenient for a new-comer to Milano since it is very easy to find and close to the central station. The hotel provides premium service and a nice breakfast. However, the surrounding looks a little bit unsafe although the security of the hotel is perfect.

The hotel was in a great location. The train station was less than a 10 minute walk and there was a tiny garden in the back.

Did not use the public rooms. Met all our expectations and then some, especially when comparing the hotels in the area for similar prices.

The hotel was said to be qiet, but it wasn`t at all. The carpet cleaner began to work at 7 a.m. (the weekend, too) directly in front of the door etc...We spoke to the employees of the hotel. They didn`t cooperate with the guests and answered that you have to go in a more expensive hotel if you want a quiet one. The service of the hotel was really bad.

We stayed there in a room with a double bed for three nights. Although we were right by the main entrance with a window to the street (at street level), the room was NOT noisy at all. The room was excellently cleaned every day and the staff was more that welcoming and helpful to our requests. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for a casual stay in Milan. The location was also amazing, close to the central station and Via Buenos Aires, especially considering how cheap the hotel was compared to others in the area.

The real reason we chose this hotel was easy walking distance to the Milano Centrale Stazione and the autobus stazione. For this reason it was excellent. Sadly we did not have much time to explore the surroundings, but did enjoy our short walks from the bus and train. Staff were perfectly friendly and room was clean and nice. Only complaint would be that the bed was possibly the hardest I had ever slept on, but after 11 hours in the air and a 7 hour layover, we slept like logs and didn't notice once we closed our eyes. If you are looking for a decent, clean, not too expensive hotel close to the train station in Milan, this is your place.

The people, the place, the room were wonderful. Our only complaints were that the bed was rock hard and difficult to sleep on. Breakfast was additional, which was not too expensive at 5 Euros, but it was all cake and yogurt. There was no cheese or regular rolls. Other than this, we loved the place and would recommend it to others.
