Obliging and helpful, combining Swiss-type efficiency and cleanliness with Italian style. Compact rooms with everything required, supplemented by spacious guest lounge. The best hotel breakfast at an inclusive price that suits every palate. Perfectly located by Centrale railway station with ready access to shops and the centre of Milan. Suited us well travelling with 3 adolescent/ young adult children.

A bit pricy but totally worth it. We had many many pillows to choose from to try. They left chocolates on our pillows each day! Wifi is totally free in the comfort of your room. I remember the website said we had to pay for kettle but we were pleasantly surprised to find one clean new kettle in our room. Our room had a huge toilet with very good heater. The staffs were all very patient with us. We asked to pack breakfast as we checked out at 6am and they gladly agreed. Breakfast when eaten inhouse was awesome. You can order caps or latte from the service staffs. They have hot choc too. Eggs were awesome. Only draw back is that they have real tiny lifts.

Friendly service and reception, excellent breakfast and nice barman. Good advice to nearby trattoria (Pane e Tulipani) where good value for money. The room could have been larger for 3 persons. Fast and free internet connection at the lobby.

The heating/air-conditioning system was alittle noisy. The Quality room was generally very clean though not too spacious. It was great to know that the minibar was free and topped up each staying day. We had a great winter deal for 3 nights stay. Reception and Breakfast Staff was very helpful and polite. The breakfast was great in terms of quality and variety. Overall, we would definitely stay here again considering its close proximity to the metro as well.

This hotel is 5 min walk from Stazione Centrale (airport bus arrives & leaves from Centrale) and approximately 40 min to main shopping area & Duomo (or there is the Metro). It is a big hotel, but has personalised service (including your own preference page, which was emailed to me after I booked). The staff are pleasant & helpful, the single room was spacious & had a king single bed, the bathroom is spacious. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and I often noticed customers being welcomed back to the hotel. I would definitely stay here again. I didn't notice any clients with children, so can't comment on suitability for families.

The room was a little small, but all staff were cheerful and friendly, from reception clerks to doormen to waiters/waitresses at the restaurant. Every single person smiled at us and casually engaged us in pleasant conversations. The breakfast spread was superb. Very close (5 min walk) to Centrale Station, which is pretty convenient. Value for money. Certainly on our choice list of hotels next time around.

Fantastic location close to rail, hop on hop off bus, shopping, and restaurants. The breakfast was the best in the 5 weeks we travelled around Italy. Staff were helpful, cleaners lovely, and facilities excellent.air-con in room quiet and effective, and as it was 37 the 4 days we stayed in Milano, we felt rested and comfortable.

This is a gem of a hotel, conveniently located near the central train station. While convenient, the location is the least appealing of its attributes; the neighborhood is deserted at night. But this is an extremely elegant hotel that seems to attract an international clientele. The staff was extraordinarily attentive, professional, and friendly. I don't think I've ever received such concern for my preferences (from pillows to how to stock the minibar) and interest in my feedback from a hotel, in any price range or country. I highly recommend this hotel, especially if you want to be near the train station.

The staff were so welcoming on our arrival- we even had an email message from them 2 days before our book in date. On European standards this hotel was wonderful- we have just spent 4 weeks in France/Italy and believe me this was so much better than the majority of hotels booked through our tour company. Room excellent, bathroom new and spacious on European standards, free wifi and the breakfast was one of the best we had- a great deal of choice. It was the first timw we had stayed there and would definitely recommend it to other travellers, especially considering its proximity to Milan rail station- we walked with our bags to hotel(once we worked out which exit to use from the station! A wide range of people were at the hotel-many different nationalities, families with babies/young children, middle aged couples such as ourselves.Probably too small to suit a large group.

Receiving the pre-arrival e-mail so we could list our preferences was wonderful. How nice to have the bed made in the style you want and the type of pillows you wish -- especially after the long flight from Southern California. Breakfast buffet was great. Hotel Berna really takes care about their customer thoughts, all the time is asking that everything is fine or not. Well everything was fine for us. Also in the lobby, there were pcs which had internet connection. So it was a nice surprise for us. Milano has an easy transportation, and centrale fs metro station is just 50 mt away from the hotel.

Rooms were small but very clean and worth the price paid. Excellent bufet breakfast. Free wifi a major plus and all non alcoholic mini bar contents are free!! totally non smoking which is a bit of a drag! But the you can chose to stay somewhere else. I would recommend

The room I stayed in was a single room. The bed was spacious but a little bit too hard. The biggest problem was that it was too hot in the room. I tried to shut off the AC unit and open the window as much as I could, but it was still too hot to sleep. Breakfast is absolutely excellent, especially for an Italian hotel. Really perfect. All in all a nice cosy hotel with a friendly stuff.

We chose Hotel Berna because of the good reviews on TripAdvisor, and they are justified. Despite the proximity to the central station (which is very convenient), many of the rooms are very quiet, and the staff are unusually friendly and helpful. If you don't have to leave very early in the morning, make sure to try out the breakfast at the hotel, which is fantastic: fresh juices, fruit, and a huge array of hot and cold food. Hotel breakfasts are rarely worth the extra charge, but this one is definitely an exception.

We had an excellent stay at this hotel. It was a little more than we had been paying for other hotels on the trip, but the value for the additional money was well worth it. The breakfast option is worth it too. By far, the hotel offered the nicest breakfast of any we had on the trip. Internet access worked well. Staff was very professional and welcoming. Room had a safe and a refrigerator. We had a little difficulty finding the hotel after we exited the train station, but we learned that we need to write and obtain good directions before we leave home -- and print them out! We'd stay at the hotel again without question. Highly recommend. We chose to walk to the Duomo and to the Castello; however, there is a metro stop on the block.

One positive that I can say is that it is near the train station. I am glad that I did not stay at Hotel Berna on the tail end of the trip as I was able to find a different hotel in Milan in a different area that offered more spacious rooms, cleaner and larger bathroom, more service, better breakfast in a nicer location. It's difficult to imagine that they were both 4-star hotels. I felt very claustrophobic in our Berna room. Our stay was less than a day so it didn't matter too much. I think that this is much closer to a 3-star hotel than a 4-star. the other 4-star hotels in Italy were much nicer and the staff were much more helpful. I would not be returning to this hotel again.

The Berna was a great choice for Milan, we had no trouble finding it and its close proximity to Centrale Train station meant that the rest of Milan was within easy reach. The rooms were average size but adequately furnished with a good size bathroom. There are quite a number of nice restaurants within short walking distance to eat in of an evening, just ask at the desk and the breakfast at the hotel was very nice, plenty of choices for all tastes. Staff were very helpful and we would stay here again if ever we are in Milan.

The hotel was perfect for our needs as mother and daughter away for a long weekend. The hotel is of a very good standard and excellently positioned near Central Station and good transport links. Very convenient location - just a few minutes on foot to metro, tram and train. Friendly staff. I arrived quite early, but was allowed to check in right away without any drama. I got a single standard room - it's a bit small, but good enough if you just need a place to sleep (Milan is a wonderful city - you are not supposed to stay in the hotel too much!) I was amused by the shower cubicle, which was tiny even for a petit person like me (the bathroom as a whole was OK though). The breakfast was quite abundant.

When we arrived there was a smell of sewage in the bathroom but the second day it was gone. Also, the room had not been properly ventilated and it was a bit smaller than we expected. Besides these issues, everything else was perfect: great service from staff, 30 minutes of free Internet access, and a huge breakfast.

Great location, very close to main train station and metro. Buses run from both airports to station. Local area built up and not very pretty but you can't have convenience and rural charm. Hotel top class, all the staff were helpful and pleasant. Rooms clean, wide choice at breakfast inc. scrambled egg, bacon, cereal, fruit, cake, croissants. Bar a bit pricey but includes complimentary snacks. Free coffee and 30 min. internet access in lobby. Reasonable local restaurants. 10 people in my group and all very happy.

I could see the train station from the front of the hotel! The staff was charming, and recommended wonderful places to eat and drink. Very good for a single traveller - clean and comfy after a day of sightseeing.

This is an excellent hotel. One of the best I have ever stayed in. The metro station is a minute away, getting around Milan is so easy using the Metro. A one-day ticket is approx 3 euro. The non-alcoholic minibar in the room is free, we were given free cake in the hotel bar and invited to a free drinks reception for New Year's Eve. The staff couldn't have been more helpful or welcoming. They would not pass a hotel guest without saying hello or good morning. The breakfast was excellent. The reception made a reservation for us at a superb authentic italian restaurant. We were treated like royality. I really can't say enough good things about Berna.

As a single woman looking for a place to stay between evening arrival at Milan Central railway Station and a morning flight, the Berna is "borderline: close enough to walk to if you are reasonably fit/fresh, BUT (a big but) it is off the main square, and requires one to walk for about a block on a fairly dark and empty side street. There are several better choice, at various price points: closer to the station and on the main square proper.

I used to visit Milan on a regular basis 4-5 years ago, and I always stayed at Berna. I was very pleased to see that is was as excellent as always, and had even added some nice little extras - half an hour of free internet use per room is a excellent idea and very much appreciated.

Very nice and quiet hotel with good service and amenities in the public areas. Great breakfast buffet which leaves no wishes open. Rooms were clean but small - especially the bathroom. Central station and Metro are only a few steps away and hence all landmarks of Milan are easily reached within 15 min.

Great room. Excellent breakfast. Good location within an easy walk of the central train station which is also the bus stop for the airport. This was our second visit. We will book it again when we return to Milan.

We found our stay at the Berna Hotel very enjoyable. On arrival we were upgraded to a larger room. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Surprised not more guests took advantage of the Happy Hour as the finger food provided was excellent. Breakfast was lovely. Overall a really pleasant stay.

Very disappointed. On arrival we were told they were very busy and they had to give us another room but would move us the following day. The room we were given was a smoking room and we assumed it was the only available room. Very difficult to sleep and the following day our clothes and hair reeked of cigaretes. Reception staff had a dismissive attitude, and were rather rude. They offered us 10% off and my husband commented about 10% and the receptionist said "you want it free do you". The dining room staff and the bar attendant very helpful but we would not return because of front of house staff

I stayed in Milan on my way to and from Bellagio on Lake Como, and stayed at Hotel Berna on both ends. I was extremely pleased with the property and the staff. The room on the front end was large and newly renovated, and even had a jacuzzi in the bath; the second room was a bit darker and older. Both were very clean. The breakfast choices were similarly large. The staff was knowledgeable, friendly, helpful, and spoke good English. Its proximity to Stazione Centrale is also a big plus. I would definitely return there

Hotel Berna appeared to have had a recent renovation when I stayed. The room fit out was to a high standard and the room (which looked out onto an internal courtyard) was very quiet except for a suggestion of a lack of soundproofing between floors. There are rooms which look out onto the street but the hotel is well soundproofed and Via Napo Torriani is not a busy road. Free non-alcoholic drinks in the mini-bar was a nice touch. There is no restaurant in the hotel but there is a selection of eateries nearby. I had two good meals at Ristoranti La Buca just around the corner. The location is very handy if you arrive by train: a short walk from Stazione Centrale. The centre of the city is within walking distance (about 20 minutes) or five minutes by metro. Overall I though Hotel Berna was good value for money and I would stay there again.

What an unexpected pleasure to find such a well managed hotel in Milan near the Central Station. The security system for access to the dependance across the street from the main buildng is well designed, the room was super clean and contained every amenety you could think of. No nickel-and-diming here with a gratis minibar, sans alchohol. Criticism: I forgot the charger for my electric toothbrush in the room upon departure and was unable to return to pick it up. Hotel Berna does not respond to my e-mails with request to send it to me at my expense.

Well situated between Milano Centrale and Corso Buenos Aires, personal very professional; free non-alcoolic drinks in mini-bar (I travel a lot all over the world: no one other hotel I've stayed has this offer!)This is a little thing, but it makes pleasure;)... Wonderful breakfast where You can even make yorself in 1minute a carrot juice! Internet facilities for free: even if it is only half an hour downstairs and 1h wi-fi with Your computer,in many places in Italy it is not free at all, so, that's a good point as well;)! My room was very small, but comfortable with a large bed. I've liked the welcoming, the hotel's central position, and specially...a very healthy breakfast:)! I'll come back for sure!

We only stayed one night at this hotel and we wished we had stayed longer. We found everything we had hoped for and more. The room was extremely clean beautifully decorated the bathroom was exceptional. But the surprises were not over yet: the next morning we were treated to an amazing buffet that left us completely satisfied: there was everything you can think of we even juiced our own carrots so I would like to say that next time I come to MIlano Hotel Berna is on my list as the hotel to stay at..thank you!!!!!
