The hotel is not recommended. The personel was VERY RUDE. He screamed to us when he asked for the room key. When we complained, he said that "I am the boss".... His name is HUGO !! The staff who was working when we checked in was much nicer and helpful. No HOSPITALITY and the room smelled so bad. Another British man was also checking out and was upset with the room and the service.

Milan is very expensive. Comparable price in Torino was a 4 star hotel with an elegant, extensive breakfast buffet. Atena is a clean, bare bones hotel with a cooperative staff.

I was very unimpressed with this hotel. 90 euro per night is way too much for what has been offered. The double room was very small, furniture broken and also the shower curtain was falling apart. The heating was also not working (snowing outside) and when reported I was asked to fix it myself by the receptionist who looked very scruffy and bored and who liked to speak very loud on the phone. The breakfast consisted in a packed croissant and frech toasts with jams and nutella. I would not reccomend this hotel to anyone. There is a ibis hotel nearby, also 2 star that offer rooms at 59 euro.

The location was excellent; near public transportation or a good walk to the Duomo. The picture of the room gives you an impression that it is biger than it was. However, it was clean and very simple. The only issue was that they had only one remote control for the TV in the room & the TV in the breakfast area. So when I would leave the room they would come in to take the remote and would not bring it back unless I asked for it.

Very expensive for a small hotel, without breakfast. Air conditioning did not work. There was a mistake with my booking dates (which I accept) and the hotel would not transfer the dates over and charged us. We stayed 3 nights- it would have been nice if the hotel had transfered the dates. As a result, I would not go back there, nor recommend it to anyone.

Hotel is in a nice part of town; staff were extremely helpful & very friendly. Room had a broken shower head in the tub, but otherwise very comfortable & immaculately clean. Very well worth the price.

Blood on the walls! Disgusting! I have never been to a more repulsive "hotel." This should be removed from any website promotion. No air conditioning. Mosquito swatting from previous guests leaving blood dribbles and the little beasts themselves splattered over the walls. When offered another room with air conditioning, the owner was offended that I wouldn't take it, even when he wouldn't charge me the five euros extra for the privelege!! The photos are not even of the hotel itself. A freak show and filth den.

This is a small but very nice hotel in a good position. When there is not too much going on outside it is fairly quiet. Beds are very comfortable and everything was spotless. Breakfast was a bit rudimentary but the coffee was good. I can certainly recommend it.

This was a very good choice for a short stay in Milan. It is set on an interesting boulevard with some restaurants and is well located for the subway and nearby Public Gardens and museums. Everything about the hotel was perfectly fine. It's a very simple, no-frills hotel but meets all needs easily. The desk agent was very helpful with directions and arranging taxis. My only caution would be that the large rooms on the avenue are very noisy. If you are accustomed to big city traffic (like in New York) the sound will fade into the background but the small town visitor may be astonished at the noise of the street. You can, of course, keep your windows closed but in warm weather I like to have them open. Our 2nd room on the back courtyard was pleasant and peaceful.

This is a good hotel for the price. The room was not too small. The shower and bathroom was spacious. There was plenty of hot water and all the ammenities were provided (soap, shampoo, etc.) The ONLY drawback that there was is the fact that the local rail system runs right outside the front door. Considering that all the big cities in Italy are fairly noisey, this was not a big deal. In fact I liked the sound and didn't need ear plugs. The other two in my group did use ear plugs and slept find. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was more than adequate... a typical European breakfast. I would stay here again.

Nice little 2-star hotel sictuated on the second floor of a beautiful appartment building in a beautiful neighbourhood. Metro (Pt. Venezia), shopping, supermarket, all on walking distance. Clean rooms, friendly employees and typical italian breakfast with croissant and cappuccino to start the day. Good value for the price, considering the hotels in Milan are generally expensive.

Bonne situation geographique pour visiter milan ;mais la chambre qui donnait sur la rue tres passante et sur le tramway ,etait tres bruyante ;l'accueil etait inexistant ,voire desinvolte à la limite de l'impolitesse(le patron a surement ses tetes ou ses humeurs : sa place n'est pas à l'accueil d'un hotel ) le petit-dejeuner servi dans une piece minuscule ne peut se prendre qu'apres le passage des "groupes" qui ont visiblement priorité et consiste en pas grand chose :au maximum 1 croissant et 1 cappucino ;les photos offrent un aperçu de l'immeuble mais n'ont rien à voir avec la realité de l'hotel ;

Our stay at Atena was very enjoyable. Rocco, the hotel manager (or perhaps the owner) was not only very friendly, but also very good at making the perfect capuccino! The interiors of the hotel were simple, but very clean and accommodating. Also the location of Atena, with a little courtyard situaed in an architecturally appealing building nearby Duomo was very handy. Excellent value!

Good place. People were friendly, and the hike to interesting things isn't so bad. The directions to get there need a little help though. All I had to do was take the Tram from the central train station instead of taking two metro lines and a tram.

Insgesamt: SEHR EMPHELENSWERT!!!

A genuine 10-12 min walk from the centre. Rooms all clean, and hotel helpfully allowed us to leave our bags at the reception on our last day until we were ready to collect them in the evening. Check out 'Breks' self service restaurant - you'll find it in a sidestreet on the left as you walk along the Corso Monforte towards the Doumo, it has orange canopies. Excellent food and GREAT prices - seems to be where the locals eat!

The picture of the hotel on the website is totally deceiving, it is from the front door of the building whereas the hotel (if you still specify it as a hotel) is just one flat on the 2nd floor. Even a youth hostel is more facilitated! The only thing good about Atena is the location. Within walking distance you can access to city center and some major tourist spots.

There were bed bugs in our double bed. Our room had no fan, we asked for one and we were told there wasn't one we could have. The bath towels were not towels but large pieces of material. There seemed to be under floor heating in both rooms which made the rooms extremely hot. We weren't told where breakfast was or at what time, when we discovered it while waiting for a taxi the man on the reception desk seemed irriated with us for helping ourselves - there was no coffee or other hot drinks available. We would not recommend this hotel or stay again.

This room suited me perfectly. It was within walking distance of major attractions, small but clean and functional. Price/value relationship was what I expected. Tram was a bit noisy but I live in New York so didn't mind. Enjoyed the neighborhood and the restaurant nearby ( recommended by Antonio: Orologio del Fulvio). Will return.

Welcoming: Our daughter, who is studying at the IULM University and has booked accommodation for us at the Hotel Atena, picked us up at the airport and went to the hotel together with us. The young lady at the reception desk told our daughter that she could only visit us in our room for 10 mins. as we were only paying for 2 persons. We found that a little strange, and it did not make us feel particularly welcome. Noise level in rooms: Our room was next to the breakfast room so rather early in the morning, there was a lot of noise (i.a. the coffee maker). During the night, we heard the door bell many times as the reception did not answer right away. Quality of service provided: The service was OK, but it was a little annoying that the maid did not leave an extra toilet roll so I had to ask for it more than once. We also had to ask for the remote control for the television. Quality vs. price: I think that EUR 90 for a double room is a little high. We were rather astonished that the Hotel Atena did not accept any credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express) - "only cash" we were told. So, we had to draw from a cash dispenser which cost us a fee of EUR 10.70. The web page should mention that the Hotel Atena does not accept credit cards.
