Aspromonte is located on Piazza Aspromonte, a charming park used by locals to play Bocci, children to play, as well as a dog play area. This gives the whole area a safe neighborhood feel. The hotel itself is well worth the money with fairly large, clean rooms and comfortable beds. The staff mostly speak English with varying degrees of competence, but all are helpful and friendly. Breakfast is rather skimpy and repetative by our standards but guests can order freshly made espresso, capuccino, etc. There is no elevator but the staff gladly hauls guests' luggage to the rooms. Mine was on the second floor (third floor to us) and had only a roof window, so I was unable to look out but I was able to open and close the window electronically. Nearest metro stop is Loreto, convenient for red and green lines, and only a few blocks away. As a single woman I felt safe walking in this neighborhood and staying at this hotel. I recommend this hotel to anyone seeking a value-priced hotel in pricey Milan except those who have a problem walking steps. As I said, there is no elevator, which is the big drawback for this hotel.

Hotel nicely situated, facing a park. The staff was helpful and friendly, and when we were looking for a florist, found one on the internet. Ground floor rooms are a bit noisy. The directions say that the Loreto metro station is nearby, which is true, but do not say that the No. 33 tram, which goes to the Central Station, stops 30 meters away from the door of the hotel.

Nice place. The complementary breakfast was really good as was the coffee :). The presence of the bar is a bonus but we didn't really use it much. Rooms were clean and functional, but the triple we had could've been a tad larger. The bathrooms need to be better maintained - showers in both rooms we had didn't drain quickly enough and the shower cubicle doors took some effort to close correctly. Staff was quite helpful with directions etc. Location is good, walking distance to the Metro and the Buenos Aires shopping area is a huge plus.

The hotel was adequate for our needs, easily accessible by tram to the train station. It was basic but extremely clean. Breakfast was plain but again, adequate. For the price, there were absolutely no complaints. Would I stay here again .... the answer is certainly if I wanted to visit Milan and stay in a budget hotel in a decent location which serves my needs.

The hotel is a bit away from the city center (2 or 3 underground stops, or 30ish min walk), but the room was very good, very quite, clean and very good bed, and ensuite bathroom. And with the winter offer the price was excellent for us. The stuff was very friendly as well and recomened us a close "tratoria" where we had a gorgeous t-bone steak. Very good hotel overall.

We were delighted with our stay at the Aspromonte. It's hard to pick out of hundreds, but the Aspromonte was a little gem. Overlooking a small park to the front, our rear room with small balcony overlooked a small external breakfast area and was extremely quiet. About 45 mins walk from the Duomo, although out of the centre of Milan, it was an interesting walk back and forth and we did not use public transport once. Nice breakfast with warm croissants and proper expresso/cappuccino setting you up for the day. The staff were extremely helpful, especially Anna, who had lots of good advice and tips and speaks very good English. We would go back anytime we were in Milan to stay at the Aspromonte as it was good value for money and an ideal base.

We stayed in this hotel for only 1 night but were very confident. The Hotel is small and nice, the people are very friendly, rooms are small but clean, bath ok (we were two women!) and for the price you cannot say anything. Best thing was breakfast in the little backyard. Beautiful underneath the pergola. We will come again!

We are a couple in our early 60s from London, England. The staff at the Aspromonte were genuinely welcoming and friendly, and always willing to help in any way. Our room was fine and the bathroom excellent. Breakfast was something to look forward to with serious coffee and a good spread of food. On a warm day we could have it outside in the attractive back garden. Our only whinge is that the price is on the high side, particularly from Thursday to Sunday, but we would happily return to the Aspromonte.

We stayed for two nights. The location was good - a short walk from a major metro station, which is a couple stops from the Duomo on Line 1, and several stops from the Centrale station on Line 2. Both the outside and inside seemed quite nice for a hotel at this price range in an Italian city (e.g., automatic front door and some stylish furniture) - but it does not look as warm and romantic as in the photographs (which was fine by me). The property looks smaller than in the photograph - the buildings in this are are generally like townhouses, and only the middle part of what you see in the photo is the actual property. The outside impression was not amazing, but once inside we were happier. The hotel is located on one side of a small square (which is a park), along a line of small hotels like this one. The street running in front is a two-way street, but it is not too loud overall. The room was very decent (again, for this price - simple and clean) and equipped with everything it claims. Our room had a decent-sized bathroom (with shower, not tub), double bed, TV, desk, closet, night tables, and suit hanger. The place would have been quiet, but there was a loud customer in an adjacent room - and considering that the walls are not particularly thick (i.e., the structure is like a house), it woke my fiance up. Breakfast was a pleasant surprise compared to a couple other places we stayed in this price range. It is a small buffet in the hotel's cafe-bar area, which had coffee, juice, yoghurt, cereal and milk, various jams and nutella, cheese, bread, and pastries. Front desk was efficient and nice overall. The mother (?) spoke beautiful English, and initiated a conversation with us on our way to town, to make sure we had a map and knew the best ways to get around (and where to see!). She also discussed with us at length concerning the best way to get to the airport. The son and daughter were more reserved, but were both efficient and precise in handling

I've been staying at Hotel Aspromonte for almost 2 weeks and I had a very pleasant time there. The employees are very nice and well-manered, they welcomed me very warmly, the room was clean and exactly what I needed for my business trip. What I liked best was the terrace in the back where I could have the coffee in the morning. Thank you!

An excellent stay. Clean, neat, comfortable and hospitable place. Wonderfully friendly staff led with great efficiency and warmth by Signora Anna. Excellent location - close to really good public transport, particularly at Piazzale Loreto. Plenty of good shops, food and places of interest nearby. Great value too. Very easy access from Linate Airport or the central railway station.

We stayed at the Aspromonte only one night. It's located in a pleasant-enough residential neighborhood, but not really convenient to anything major. The metro stop is about a 5 - 10 minute walk and then it's only about 15 minutes to the Duomo. We found a nice restaurant (Nuovo Convento) near the hotel, but there aren't a lot of choices. The hotel itself is nice and there's a lovely garden for breakfast or a drink. Breakfast buffet was very good. Room size was decent - certainly adequate and the bathroom was ample. Although it's a 3-star, there is no elevator. Staff are competent in English and are helpful. It's only about a 15-minute cab ride from Linate Airport.

Of all the Milanese hotels I have stayed in, Aspromonte rooms are the largest. Even though it is not in the city center, it was only a short subway (Loreto) or tram ride away (although the subway is not as close as you'd like it to be - it's not terribly far, but if you're doing a lot of shopping on the nearby streets or coming back late at night, you sort of want some place a little closer). The rooms are large, including bathroom/shower. The breakfast isn't anything special - bread, cheese, ham, and coffee/cappuccino. The hotel's staff seems young, helpful, and professional. It would have been a perfect stay, but I think most of the people staying in the hotel were smokers during our stay, as the hotel had a "smoky" smell permeating it. We really couldn't sleep during our short stay. We just kept the window open (during the middle of winter).

Hotel was okay - nothing special. Quite a distance from the centre though-even for two physically fit males it was a long trek back every night on foot. Also the park that the hotel is on has a few ladies of the night hanging around in the early hours. Average value for money.

For the money in Milan, our stay was fine. The room we stayed in, (steetside, no windows, two skylights, was in need of some upgrading, but was clean and everything worked. The bathroom was rather current. The sheets were clean and the shower hot. The noise from the hall at all hours of the night was a little distracting. The hotel staff was very helpful and pointed us to a great nearby neighborhood restaurant where we ate two nights.

This is only formally a two-star hotel, but it's actually a 3-star; in fact, it's easy to find in Italy a 3-star hotel worse than this one. Breakfast is excellent. Best choice for quality / price ratio.

This hotel was fabulous. it was similar in price to other comparable hotels in other cities. the staff was extremely helpful and sweet as sugar. they spoke very good english, helped us book a hotel in another city and got train schedules for us. it was great. the location is outside the city center--a few minutes walk and a few minutes on the subway--but was still great b/c it's outside the very 'touristy' areas. if you really want to see italy--leave the city center for a bit-it's wonderful.

The employees are really helpful and have an excellent level of english. For a 2 star hotel the breakfast is fine. You can find the same in a 4 star hotel. The rooms are very small but clean. They should change the beds, are not so confortable. The hotel is really close to the metro station, 5 minutes walking, you don't need a car nor taxi. The surrounding area is calm, but not very attractive in winter. The hotel is quite close from the city downtown from metro, only 10 minutes from the metro station loreto. The small park of Aspromonte was not easy to find. Got lost when I gotta out of the nearby metro station...since there were many exits and many intersections. But as long as you have a detailed map of the neighborhood, I think it's ok. 5~10 mins walk from metro exits. Staff are all English speaking and very kind. My room has a balcony facing the street and park, which is a little bit noisy, but ok since it's generally a quite neighborhood (some young people talking loudly in the park one night..) Walking down from the Corso Buenos Aires to Notre Dame is nice (20~30mins)...you get to see all the shops....

First off: nice stay. The Aspromonte is a #1 address for travellers with little money. The rooms are clean (some spiderwebs at the ceiling which has ~3.50m[11ft] - who cares?). Personnel is friendly and helpful. Breakfast is... - well, I'm german, we have quite a different idea what a breakfast (especially bread) should look like - so... breakfast is ok. The walls are a little thin, so you need neighbours who are not too loud. During our stay the walls got new painting. The hotel will look better after that. All in all the Aspromonte is better than you might expect for that price. The next underground-station (Loreto) is ~250m away. You better leave your car at home, you won't need it, unless you have too much money for your shopping tour...

Got an airconditioned double at this place with shower and toilet and tv for 60 bucks, nice room, and the a/c made all the difference. not a great location if you plan to travel by foot. staff was very helpful. room would probably be much more expensive during peak time.

The attic room we had was a bit dusty and very hot, we had to keep the airco on all night. Furthermore it was quite good value for money, we had better hotels in Italy but those were more expensive.

The Aspromonte was a great choice, we were very pleased with our stay there. We stayed at the Aspromonte twice, at the start and end of our tour around Italy. Both times we had the same room, one at the front with a small terrace overlooking the (quiet)piazza. The room was clean and spacious with a powerful shower (always apppreciated!) and colour T.V. The breakfast here was the best out all the hotels we stayed in throughout our trip and to be commended. The only negative point that my partner experienced was late night noise caused by other guests returning (although for a heavy sleeper like me, it caused no discomfort)

Nicely situated in a quiet area opposite a small park. Easy to reach on tram route 33 from outside the central station. Room was small but very clean and air-conditioned. Breakfast is basic but can be taken in the back garden. Staff speak good English.

We stayed at the Aspromonte Hotel between 7th July and 10th July 2004. We located the hotel with ease, but parking was difficult as the streets are incredibly busy with cars parked all over the place. The Hotel actually asked for a neighbour of theirs to move their car so we could park right outside, very helpful. The room was as described - 2 single beds, head to head with a cabinet in the middle of them. The room also had air conditioning and a tv. We were at the back of the hotel facing the garden/patio area which was quite quiet. The breakfast was very good with coffee and tea, orange juice, cereal and toast, or croissants. Located about 20 minutes walk from the centre of milan, there is also a metro stop which is just near by, about 100m away and this only cost us 2 Euro each for a day which was very good and the service of their underground is good. Their did not appear to be much around the hotel, except a small park in front. I would definately use this hotel again as the value for money was great. The only downside is the rooms can become noisy at night if your nieghbours are loud. The hotel staff were execellent and were very helpful, giving us advice, directions, and booking us in to see the Last Supper.

There seemed to be a slight mix up with the nights booked but the hotel was very accomadadyting and sorted it out. the rooms we changed into (2 on sepearte floors) tended to have a high noise level from the steps. Close to 2 metro lines, very accessable to city

Empfehlenswert!

Great welcome! Great breakfast - cereal, toast or toasted sandwich, ham, cheese, croissants, yogurt etc.Handy for underground. Not a lot to do in the area in the evening, although the pizzas in nearby "Grog" were the best we've tasted!Take a mosquito plug-in and repellent - we all got very badly bitten overnight in the hotel!

The Aspromonte is definately worth recommending. A cosy hotel with good hospitabel service and great coffee. It is not located in the citycenter but the neighbourhood is nice and friendly and there is easy access to all destinations with the metrosystem. The two best things about our stay at the Aspromonte were the small outside breakfast dining area, and the great service provided by the reception employees in the retrievement of 4 pairs of forgotten shoes. Thank you!

Hotel Aspromonte rates very highly for helpfulness of staff, who speak excellent English and are very willing to give advice, look up information, and make you feel welcome. Breakfast was excellent, and the location convenient to the train station and metro. The area seemed quite safe, and there is a very good Asian/Italian restaurant nearby. The only problem was with poor soundproofing of rooms.

Staff were friendly and helpful, but I reserved a single room, and it was tiny and dark. ON check-out I could see the double rooms were much larger. On next trip to Milan I will probably stay in a 3 or 4 star hotel.

Very pleasant little hotel, convenient for getting into the heart of Milan. Only minor problem was the sound-proofing between rooms.
