Great location near Duomo, LaScala, and other sites. However the hotel was disapointing. Carpet in the room was filthy. The bathroom was so small that you had to put your feet in the shower to sit on the toilet. Also, this was the only hotel in Europe that didn't provide free WiFi. Desk staff were very sympathetic, but said that the owners were unwilling to provide better services.

The gentleman at the counter upon arrival was sour and probably the rudest person I have come across in hospitality. He was not interested in welcoming, giving directions, or addressing the fact that I couldn't get hot water in my room in a nice manner. The room was dated, however this wouldn't have bothered me so much had I felt welcome and been able to have a hot shower! I checked in at 7pm and checked out at 10pm the same day. I would never go back there again.

Excellent location, but you are paying a premium for it. Good breakfast, helpful staff, great bathroom but only a hand held shower wand in the bathtub. Even with the heat off I had to have the window open at night in February to keep the room from being too hot to sleep-both times I stayed.

Staff unhelpful. I inquired about flight times and they told me they couldn't access the internet. Nobody ever attempted to help me with my suitcase even though I am in my early 70s. Barely a smile from anybody. I have been in dozens of Milan Hotels and this was particularly disappointing. The only advantage is its closeness to Piazza del Duomo. This was definitely not a 4 star hotel. Breakfast was typical of 2 star establishments. The bathroom toiletries were 3 star level. The TV was particularly poor with very limited access to programmes and poor quality all round.

The 4 stars of this hotel aren't well assigned: even on specific request it's available the bathrobe; it's not available pay TV in the rooms or in public areas; furnitures and bathrooms are old and not efficient....

1. (most important) The "Buffett - Breakfast" was - beside Coffee, Bread, Butter, Croissant, Yoghurt nothing else JUST one little plate with cheese. No ham, bacon, eggs, like you expect in a 4 star hotel. Each of these you had to order and pay extra!!! The employees know about this, because everybody complains, but they say the owner has decided so and they feel sorry for the guests..... The breakfast time was till 10:30 a.m. but already short before 10 a.m. there were no croissants at all and some guests left to a coffeeshop to have breakfast there. 2. There was no roomservice to restaurant. You could not order nothing to the room. The bar down at the lobby was closed after 7 p.m. The employees explained that this is just at every august because of ferragosto! These people from the hotel are on vacation at august and nobody cares if the guests suffer or not. 3. The room was beautiful and the view to the Duomo phantastic, but a 4 star hotel needs more than just a view from the window.

This is my first time for me coming to Milan, my impression of the hotel and the surrounding were quite high being the world's famous city for fashion and glamour. However, this particular hotel was a total disappointment and let me explain in details: 1. It was a smoking room to begin with, which had an irritating smell and on top of that the toilette smells like a public urinals so everytime we go into our rooms we always get this smell. 2. The decor of this room was very outdated, it looks like a medieval decor. The bed was solid rock, which hurting our back. 3. The air conditioner was very noisy and not cooling the room at all and it was very hot when we were there. 4. The only good thing about this hotel was the close proximity to Piazza Duomo, shops, and restaurants. We were originally going to stay in this hotel for 4 nights, we checked out earlier and stayed in Westin Palace Milano, which was AMAZING!

I read in earlier reviews that the staff was rude and was pleasently surprised when they were not. The breakfast was decent enough. Much better then what you can get outside the hotel. Staff was helpful and rooms were clean. Location AMAZING! If I ever go back to Milan, which I would not, I would suggest this hotel b/c of the price, the location and the half decent breakfast.

The hotel is situated in a quiet area. You will need to see a map before you know where you are. But it is actually very near to the Il Domo and the shopping area. The hotel staffs are wonderful and very helpful. The rooms are very spacious. What you see in the picture is indeed how the hotel rooms looked like. A pity that they have a minimum guests staying. I would really recommend people to stay in this hotel.

The hotel is quite dated and the rooms are fairly small. Our bathroom had a leak in the roof. The maid had a bit of an attitude and was quite unfriendly. The breakfast was pathetic, even the bread wasn't very fresh. Given the price though, can't really complain too much. The location is absolutely fantastic, right around the corner from Piazza Duomo with everything within walking distance. Overall, given we only had a short stay the hotel suited our purpose, but wouldn't recomend it if you're looking for a "romantic" experience or anything of the sort.

The hotel situation is great because it is hardly 300metres from the duomo and it is good enough if you just want a place to sleep and take a shower. It is a big hotel but old and old fashioned, cleanliness is hardly enough. If you compare price with situation it is fair because you are in the city cetre but if you compare it with the hotel rate it is not fair, I have been in venecia, rome and florence after milan and for the same proce and situation the hotels where much more conformable, with bathrobes in your room, great buffets at breafast more cleanlinness. I do not think that just for the situation the price is worthy. Service is OK, it is as if it had been a great hotel ten years ago but now it can not compare to new hotels at the same price.

This was my firsdt stay at the Grand Plaza in Milan. The hotel in itself is O.K. it is very clean extremely well located right behind the Duomo, travelleing for business alone I wanted to be in the center to be able to go out to dinner at night alone, on foot, and being able to come back to the hotel alone, I felt secure. But this only reason why this hotel is rated as a 4 stars is its closeness to the Duomo, otherwise it would be a 3 stars. The breakfast was terrible and boaring for 230euros a night you expect a better breakfast...

Fantastic location and excellent price for this level of quality. Only criticism was the poor view from our particular room over a grim courtyard, but at least it was really quiet and we only went there to sleep anyway! If I have to look for a fault, I guess the bathroom windows and the shower cabinet were a bit tatty and could do with changing, but that's about it. Would not hesitate to recommend this hotel and believe me I'm normally a very fussy person!

Centrally located (a block or two from the Duomo), business-like hotel. Plain hotel exterior hid what appears to be a recent interior renovation of the public spaces. Gave me a feeling of much French influence. Rooms were large, but the linens needed to be replaced. Bathrooms were small, with only a tiny shower (but still found room for a bidet). Couldn't find any English speaking stations on the TV, but plenty of Italian, French, and Spanish. Luckily, there was plenty to see and do just minutes from the hotel--its main attraction.

Hotel is very central, Building is just ok but quite nice inside - the only thing we had to complain is the missing parking space which isn't provided by the hotel and there are no free parking possibilities in the surrounding. So we had to take the underground parking which is just in front of the hotel but quite expensive (about 24 Euros per day) but in the end the only possibility (public fee is about 1,2Euro per hour). My advice is if you travelling by car look at first for hotels which offers free parking.

The hotel is is an excellent location as it is only a few streets away from the impressive Piazza del Duomo - however it is quite a taxi ride away from Milan Central Station where the bus from the airport dropped us off - as it was a Saturday night we found it difficult to get a taxi - the taxis in Milan unlike other major European cities will not stop if you try and flag them down. The guide book I had bought with me had a number for a local taxi firm - I tried ringing but with my limited Italian and the taxi company's limited English we didn't get very far in trying to order a taxi - so we had to wait nearly a half hour before the first taxi pulled up in the taxi rank - not a good start as we were already tired from travelling. Most of the websites I visited prior to the trip to Milan said that most of the shops would not be open on a Sunday - I did not go to Milan's shopping district as we did not have the time but I did not find this to be the case as all shops within the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and surrounding area opened by 12 noon on the Sunday - just don't do what I did - fall in love with a gorgeous Gucci bag and forget your credit card! (I'd left it in the hotel safe along with my passport)

I would return to the same hotel anytime when visiting Milan. There are two points I would like to mention: 1. Some rooms have bathtubs, others only showers. So state your preference when booking. 2. The breakfast buffet is, although a little bit better than in other Italian hotels, still forgettable. Go to the next bar for a cappuccino and brioche.

Central location, easy walk to all sights. A couple of nightclubs nearby, so could hear music slightly till quite late. But a good deal. Hotel is comfortable.

It woud be very useful to have the direct telephone number to hotel. I did not find that on Venere nor the hotels own internet site. Booking by Internet was excellent, but sometimes one need to call the hotel directly. I finally got the number from a Norwegian telephone company...

This is a typical old European Hotel. Spacious clean, rooms, European bath. The hotel doesn't look like much from the outside, but its very nice inside and the location is great. Just around the corner from the Cathedral. Infact, you can ask for a room with a rooftop view of the Cathedral which is very nice. Breakfast was good. The only negative was that the elevator made some noise going up and downm, so if this is a concern, you should ask for a room away from the elevator.

This hotel is in a very convenient location, but the room decor is uninspiring. I thought it was going to be old and elegant, but it is modern and nondescript. The front desk was friendly and the breakfast fine. But the price seemed very high for a hotel of this type.

I was very pleased with both the Venere site and the Grand Hotel Plaza. The location, friendly staff and accomodations were all better than expected!
