The entrance and lobby was ok BUT the room was shoddy. No cups or milk available in room. Peeling wallpaper and flaking paint. Very noisy from traffic outside window as these were not double glazed and fitted badly. Mould around bath sealant. Nearest car park was 400 metres away. Over priced and will not visit again.

Nice hotel in pedestrian area but nevertheless a lot of traffic passed through night/ early morning. Didn't use the breakfeast(not included), in stead we walked to Paul 3 mins left exiting the hotel and the first right. We parked in Opera and then walked to the hotel. Not advisable with lots of luggage. Best you stop at the booth push the button announce your arrival and use the parking of GHM. If you are planning to stay overnight in the weekend ask for a room overviewing the inner court. A lot quieter, recently renovated and cooler(the hotel has no airco)

All the facilities were good and as advertied and the reception staff were very helpful. However I found one BIG problem. The hotel is situated in the centre of the city which in inaccessible to all but authorized vehicles which have to trigger an automatic sensor to lower bollards in the road for entry. Surrounding on street parking is VERY strictly limited consequently difficult to ask advice from hotel and drop off luggage. There is no available hotel parking - only in a near(ish) underground facility. My experience - as a first time visitor to Metz - is possibly clouded by a 135 euros police parking fine in trying to overcome the aforementioned problem. Don't let it put you off. Metz is a fine city.

We had breakfast on both occasions, it was fine except for the contraption that they use for boiling eggs, it just does not boil eggs at all. We did complain after our first visit but the same contraption was used on the second visit and it still did not work, if they want you to boil an egg then they should provide the correct equipment. Surroundings were OK. In fact seemed to be a main thoroughfare, but you had to press a button on an electronically controlled pillar to access the hotel, and although there appeared to be parking at the hotel, on both occasions we were directed to the Republic Parking underneath the Place de la Republic and had to pay 8 euros for the privilege. The car park was secure and our car and luggage was not interfered with, but some people could park at the hotel and we wondered why we were not able to. We would not have minded paying the parking fee to the hotel. My husband is registered disabled and it would have been a boon to use the car park at the hotel. Otherwise the rooms were OK, although on our second visit the chamber maid had not left a toilet roll, so we had to resort to supplying our own, although we do have some french language and could have asked for some. The first room with the double bed, bathroom and toilet was excellent, large and roomy and with enough room to set out the laptop, the second room was smaller and with less room and was on the main road, directly in front of the Grand Hotel de Metz sign and therefore was lit up all night and distrubed our sleep pattern. The reception on the first visit was wonderful, with a young man who was very patient and welcoming, and the second visit suffered slightly because of the first receptionist's helpfulness. Although there was actually nothing you could put your finger on. I would recommend this hotel to anyone travelling through Metz and would also hope that they finally change the egg boiling machine.

We were pleasantly surprised by our room - it is the biggest European hotel room I have ever been in. Everything about the room was comfy and it had a great location, which made it easy to return to in the middle of the day if we wanted.

The location was perfect for visiting Metz. We came from Sun-Wed and got upgraded so we had the coffee/tea gizmo in our room, very nice. Room didn't have AC. Mattress was hard so used the duvets to sleep on and with the summer heat, who needs a duvet anyway? Room was noisy because couple above us was drunk and heavy-footed and argued the first night. Reported this to desk the next morning as well as no toilet paper because the room wasn't ready at 4:00 pm on a Sunday and the lady probably rushed. They were nice enough but still not a good experience. Housekeeping also forgot to re-supply the coffee and milk so we had to go to the desk and get them. Nice that they had a computer for free usage. Never did breakfast, too expensive.

This hotel is not "Grand Hôtel"... I think it is just a good "**" hotel.

Nice hotel in the city center. We had a very nice and spacious familiy room (chambre comfort). Traditional furniture, big bath room, water cooker incl. coffee and tea. Good standard for a 3 star location.

In the online description it says its 500m to the train station, but its more like 1.3km - we walked it anyway - already getting a nice impression of the city. The top of the Cathedrale was visible from the hotel room, shopping facs and cafés were also nearby. The breakfast buffet was ok, but dont expect anything "full grain" and if conr flakes are cereals enogh for you you will be fine! the only thing very disturbing was that the smell of cigarette smoke entered through the ventilation system, also the toilettes where a little smelly (Plumbing).

THe hotel is perfectly situated in the center of Metz only 100 meters from the Cathedral and in the middle of the shopping and dining area. The rooms are in need of renovation and updating. No minifridge. No A/C. Breakfast and Parking extra. Though there is on site parking.
