I very much liked my stay at San Carlo Hotel. I didn't face any problems whatsoever. The personnel at the reception is very helpful and explained in details how to get to Venice and about the waterbuses (vaporetti). They even sell tickets which was very convenient. There is a garage to park your car as well. The location is easy to find with GPS or by using normal map. I made my reservation few months ahead, I am not sure if there will be any rooms available without prior reservation.

This hotel offers a great value for money solution when visiting Venice. A 15min bus trip into venice, extremely helpful staff make up for the average surroundings of the hotel. We felt comfortable walking to and from bus stop during the night. Rooms are dated in style but are clean and quiet for a good nights rest.

When you are in a hotel room with no fridge, radio, or television, it is pretty hard to get excited about it. Great batroom though!

Breakfast rather basic. Better bred would be welcome. Beds are very comfortable, but decoration (painting, wallpaper)and furnitures need to be renewed.

The Hotel has very friendly staff except for one particular receptionist who kept pressing us to book for the island tours from him. The other staff was extremely helpfull and welcoming. As regards quality vs price I have nothing to complain about the quality but the price is on the high end. Yet it was one of the cheapest hotels we found in that area.

I will recommend this hotel for any one visiting Venice as the staff are very professional and it is only 10minutes by bus to Venice bus terminus and Mestre is a normal italian village with very good food at 1/3 the price of Venice, there's also a shopping centre in mestre Le Barche

AWFUL!!! (Yes, in CAPS) The neighborhood is creepy. The atmosphere in the hotel was very dark. We were not feeling safe at all. The cleanliness of the room? We did not want to touch anything. It was a real surprise for us because we read decent reviews. I am NOT picky and stayed at many hotels of different levels. This was really bad! Do not recommend!!!

We stayed at San Carlo for only one night. The area around the hotel itself is very plain but there is a convenient and quick bus transportation to Venice proper. The receptionist was EXTREMELY patient and helpful in spite of the slight language barrier. Parking was a big plus. Breakfast was quite adequate. A free public Internet terminal in the lobby was another plus. The only thing I can think of as a negative was car noise from the street but the rooms were equipped with thick blinds that helped. I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone traveling to Venice by car and on a limited budget - you won't be disappointed!

The only disadvantage of this hotel was that my single room was very small. Worth for the price 60 Euros/night with breakfast.

We booked this hotel through Venere for 80 Euros a night. The room was fairly quiet and comfortable though the bathroom a little small and narrow. The directions to the hotel say that from the Mestre train station to take the number 9 bus. Just FYI it runs every half-hour and stops running after 9:30pm. We got in late so ended up paying 15 Euros for a taxi. If you call the hotel they have alternate buses they can recommend that may be a little faster. On their recommendation we took a bus directly to Venice and only a 15 minute ride. Another FYI, they recommended a 4-hour tour to Murano, Burano and Torcello. This tour is run by either Bucintoro Viaggi or Alilaguna company. It only cost 20 Euros for the tour but we thought it was a waste of time. They claim to give you a glass blowing demonstration but the demo lasted less than 10 minutes and we were ushered to a store to purchase glass. The demo on Burano wasn't much better, their so-called lace making demonstration lasted only a minute! If the hotel recommends this tour to you just decline otherwise you waste half your day.

Bad information to get to this hotel from the airport (bus #15 do not pass near this hotel).Bus #9 on hotel street is every half hour and 1 hour in week-end and goes to train station not Venice. Buses to Venice are confusing with construction detours, are often late and crowded and rare on weekends. Free internet a nice feature.

It's quite easy to get to Venice by bus. The hotel is not a great hotel, but it's ok. The photos and the maps explain very well what is this hotel. It's a good option for who wants to visit Venice and don't cares to take a 20min bus to get in. I'd recommend it!

The hotel is quite convenient by bus to visit Venice. Mestre itself has no attractions, tho, and few local restaurants near hotel. The staff are very freindlty and helpful, and speak good English. A computer is avaialble for use( free) which is a very good additional service. Room was good, without being 5 star. Breakfast was more than adequate. It's quite dificult to get to from Treviso airport. Suggets the Venice bus to Mestre Station, and then taxi from there. Should be a few Euros only. Or, the Treviso airport bus driver might kindly go out of his way and drop yopu off outside the hotel, as he did for us.

Hotel staff were very friendly and helpful. There is a bus stop nearby and a bus ride into Venice is only 1 euro and takes about 10 minutes. We found staying in Mestre very convenient, you don't have to pull your luggage around Venice trying to find your hotel. The hotel was clean and friendly and the breakfast was very good. Self-serve cereals, breads, juices and coffee and other hot drinks. We were quite satisfied with our stay and there are a couple of very reasonable restaurants up the road and over the bridge, easy walking distance.
