the only good thing about this hotel was the fact that was 5 min walking distance from the train station that connects to Venice and 10 minuts driving from the main airporto Marco Polo. The sorrounding area was quite rough though. The pictures on the website give a better image of the rooms then they actually are! the bathroom is too small and no bath just a small shower.

The location is pretty good, 5 minutes walk to Mestre station. And the bus stop, No2 line to Venice, is the next block. But, the cafeteria is not large, so you should go to have breakfast early.

This was our second visit to the Roberta. We chose Mestre again because of its convenient location on the rail network which enabled us to take the train to Vicenza and Ferrara. Venice is a fast, cheap train ride across the causeway, for a stress-free visit. We explored the old centre of Mestre which is delightful and well supplied with restaurants. Some rooms can be noisy, but we slept well. The breakfast room is small but the staff work hard to clear the tables quickly and you can always have a coffee and wait in the comfortable seating in the hallway. Another good visit.

Hotel was adequate, but the town was poor - minimal selection of places to eat and overpriced. But a good place to stay before a visit to Venice - a cheap and 10 min train ride away.

Facil de encontrar, buena atención, limpieza en la habitacíón. Además está muy cerca de la estación de tren de Mestre para luego ir a la estación de Venecia Santa Lucía que está como a cinco minutos y plantarte en Venecia, un desayuno muy completo.

Cozy hotel, good location close to Railway station - 10 min walk (easy connection to Venice), excellent breakfast, clean rooms.I strongly recommend it , and I would return anytime I want to go back to Venice. Mestre though as a city seems very unsafe , so keep an eye on your personal belongings and on what you leave in your car if you travel by it.

We were in other 4 hotels during our trip for europe, this was the best of all, very good relation quality - price, good located, just 20 meters to the bus to Venezia, the trip to Venezia from the bus stop is no more that 20 minutes and the hotel is very close t the train station too. Free wi fi and frigobar, this hotel was a good surprise for us. ( Sorry for my english)

Hotel is very close to the railway station. Trains to Venice are every 5-10 minutes. Considering the prices in the area, the hotel offers very good price/ quality ratio. It is clean, confortable, cozy. Still, we were lucky to have had quite neighbours; walls are very thin and one night we could hear neighbours talking a little louder. If we returned to Venice, we would choose the same hotel without a doubt.

It was a worth for money hotel which is close to railway station. few Halal food for muslims available nearby. Charged 10 euro for 2 kids under 12 including breakfast which is worth. dont's expect a extra large shower room. No lift. overall it was a pleasent stay at reasonable rate.

Room were very dark and cold. There was no lift so we had to carry our lugagge two sets of floors and across a corridor to another entrance to the rooms. Overnight the temperature dropped to 5 degrees C and the heater was not switched on. The following night they switched on for 10 min and turned off again. On the same day we went to do our laundry and when we returned there was this unbearable smell of faeces all over the room as they were pumping sewage outside. We did not have a good time. Breakfast was ok. However the internet access was not located at the hotel it is outside in a internet caffe and costs about EU 1.60 for 1/2 hour.

Venezia Mestre is a wonderful alternative to staying in Venezia. It is only a 10 minute trip, by train or bus, to reach the tourist areas of Venezia. Hotel Roberta is a short walk from Mestre train station and there are restaurants and shops very close to the hotel.

This place is in Mestere Which contrary to Rick Steves reviews of NOT staying there I found to be a relief from the crowds of Venice. It's a 10 minute 1 Euro train trip which runs every 10 minutes. the station is about a 3 minute walk from the hotel. This Hotel was nice and inexpensive. BUT DO Not get a room that faces the side alley. It is the back part to a restaurant and customers and owners of the place are out there at all hours yelling and smoking cigarettes. I was awakened at 1 Am by several people yelling and making waaaaay too much noise. I would stay there again Just NOT on the alley. also I was given a Single room with a bed so small I could hardly roll over.

Firstly, the website says the hotel is 200mtrs from the train station. It's close but not that close. We had to walk for quite a while to find it late at night and the area isn't great so we were a little bit nervous. From what I saw on the website I was expecting a big hotel on the main street, it's a tiny hotel on a back street. Also, while the staff were nice we didn't find them very professional.

We stayed at the Roberta for six nights in June 2007, and were very happy with both the room and general service. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, and spoke English well enough to be of great assistance to us during our stay. The hotel is situated just a short walk from Mestre central railway station, as indicated on the website. This proved ideal for our daily trips to Venice Island and other day trips to places like Padova and Trieste. The hotel breakfast consisted of a substantial continental buffet with coffee on tap via a superb machine, and the dining room was clean, quiet and comfortable. I think the price of the rooms is about right for the quality of the hotel, and the room was comfortable enough except that the bed was a little hard for our liking. Rooms would also benefit from the inclusion of a tea/coffee facility to be a little more welcoming. Overall we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the hotel Roberta for a short stay and for it's handiness.

My single end-of-the-hall room was comfortable, quiet, clean, and modern as was the bathroom which was also well-lit and had a very spacious, well-designed open shower area. The hotel has a very cheerful breakfast room that is too small for the number of guests but this could be compensated for if the food choices offered were more interesting. Roberta herself is friendly and helpful but some of her staff should definately learn to smile to convey a guest-friendly and positive attitude even while attending to little annoying logistical problems like, for example, the over-crowded breakfast room. There currently is no elevator but hopefully there will be one next year. The location is very convenient for the Mestre train station and bus connections to Venice. The property seems well-kept and regularly re-invested in and is a worthy choice for both first and return visits.

I stayed here in early June this year, and I was very satisfied with the property. Except for room size (too small) and a little disturbance from the road outside, my stay was very comfortable. Absolutely safe, a very homely place, and value for money. The surroundings are good, lots of restaurants, bars, shopping stores. Overall, an very satisfying experience, recommended.

This hotel was further from the station then it looks on the map. The area is a bit scary. Lots of older rough looking single guys hanging around and cat calls, etc. It could have been due to my being a woman alone, but it was not a place I would stay at again. By contrast, spent one night on Venice (island not mestre) and it was fine to walk around at night with no problems. the hotel is nice and has all the goodies, more like a holiday inn then the typical budget european room.

My husband, me and a couple of friends have spent 15 days travelling in Italy, on January/07. After passing through many cities we have arrived at Venezia Mestre and we had a great surprise. The Hotel Roberta, that we have reserved at Venere.com, was really what the photos showed: very close to the train station (2 blocks), a modern reception room, spacious and clean bathrooms and rooms and a very nice and complete breakfast. Comparing with the other Hotels we have stayed in Italy, this one was the best of them, not just for the rooms, but also the great welcoming.

Of course, this is not the romantic Venice. But for a business in Mestre, or to run the Venice Marathon where everything is located in Mestre, this hotel is excellent. It served an early breakfast for the runners. In addition, there are two very good restaurants in the neighboorhood.

The hotel is fine, but please warn future guest of the restaurant: as we wanted to have just a small dish at night, we went to the restaurant in the hotel's building. It was the restaurants owner whom we told clearly that wanted to eat just a little bit as we were tired from a long drive. He took some notes and then kept on serving plate after plate which I did not feel that I have ordered them. Upon refusing to take any more (multiple dishes untouched on the table) - we received that outrageous bill. We were "pulled over the table", with a bill of 78 Euro. Please warn other, future guests not to go to that restaurant.

Sure, the lobby is very elegant. But the rooms are another story altogether. A very cramped and oddly furnished space. 2 reading lights - one was missing, the other was not functioning. One electric bulb out in the bathroom. It is indeed conveniently located near to the station. But I'd rather spend a few euros more and not end up in a closet.

The Hotel reception staff very welcoming, polite and helpful. I greatly enjoyed my stay. Its closeness to the station was very useful for getting into Venice. I strongly recommend this hotel. Excellent location if you're going to Venice by train (only takes 10min!!!). My friend and I travelled with big & heavy pieces of luggage, and were able to carry them from and to the train station with no problem (be aware though that both the hotel and the train station do not have elevator!). Staff was very helpful (provided all info we needed, and even arranged for some breakfast to be available earlier on the day of our departure). Breakfast was excellent! Room size was kind of tight, but we only stayed for 2 nights, so it was Ok. Everything at the hotel looked like new and it was decorated in a very nice style and with attention to detail.

This is a small quiet hotel about a 5 minute walk from the train station. Walking w/luggage is fine, due to sidewalks. There is very little to due in this city, however, if you are visiting Venice or other cities, then it's ok. Venice is a 10 minute train ride (2 euro R/T per person). The hotel is small, but our room was spacious, clean, and on the ground floor. We spent 160 euros for 2 nights, which I thought was a bit high for this city. The staff were friendly and spoke English.

Overall, the hotel was very good. We knew that this hotel was far from Venice, but was very convenient to leave the car and ride the train for 1 stop from Venezia Mestre (4 blocks away from hotel) to Venezia Santa Lucia (the Venice you see in the movies!). If you bear this in mind, this is a very nice place to stay. On the negative side, room was somewhat small, there was no elevator (we had 1st floor so we managed). Neighbourhood around the hotel is not particularly nice, but provides simple and good restaurants and a nearby internet cafe.

This is a nice place to start your daily trip to Venice if looking to avoid high venice prices. Connections are excellent (day & night). Hotel very clean. Surroundings are crowded with (apparently harmless) people from east Europe. I would definetely consider using this hotel again in the future.

The reception wasn't very welcoming. And the room was not as nice as the picture on the internet.

The price was great compared to Venice hotels. It is easy access to the train to Venice(10 min train ride). And We enjoyed restrant next to Hotel. We would stay here again if visiting Venice.

The Roberta is an excellent choice of acommodation for the traveller wishing to visit Venice. It is conveniently located close to the station from where Venice is a short, inexpensive train ride away, as is Padova, well worth a visit. The staff were unfailingly friendly and helpful and the rooms clean and comfortable. The breakfast was ok with plenty of good coffee and croissants. The breakfast room was a little small,a minor point as our room was close by and we could take a cup of coffee back to the room until a table was cleared. There are two good restaurants in the same street and a lovely pasticceria over the road.We will certainly return to this hotel in the future.

Really good location which was 5 mins walk from the train station. The area itself not the most picturesque but overall the hotel and staff were pleasent and helpful.

Paid a very cheap price for accomodation when compared to staying in Venice. Very convenient with the train station being so close. We found the public transport both very cheap and efficient. Would recomend the hotel as an ideal location for a cost effective way to visit venice.

An adequate place to stay outside of Venice. No elevator and many stairs to the 2nd floor. The room was clean, but the spring beds were not comfortable. We found the hotel by following the signs to the train station. But the hotel is located on a 1-way street not accessible from the main street. You must work your way through the narrow streets to the hotel. The free parking is available for 2 cars, otherwise you need to find a street parking place marked with blue and pay. The staff is helpful and speak some English.

Hallo! I think this was a very nice hotel and it was near the station. Parking was not good though. A hotel you could stay for 2-3 days. Nice and clean and very cosy.

Ho soggiornato all'hotel Roberta in agosto.

Just the right hotel for our needs. Nothing fancy, but a good hotel for what it tries to be. Clean, close to the rail station, with AC and a balcony. Morning breakfast included coffee (it was sooo cool to push the button and get a well made espresso - I kept pushing it but stopped after my 3th one to avoid the jitters). Also: teas, bottled drinks, cold cereal and other "continental" choices.

easy district for visiting Venice and going to the airport. Considering the high prices of hotels in Venice, it is reasonable but at the level of an hotel in Paris ... even if the surroundings are not of interest. Bathroom not perfectly clean, room fresh but dark and rather nasty smelling. French speaking and generally nice people, helpful except for luggage. No lift. Breakfast : continental but rather poor quality. Anyway globaly pleasant stay.

This hotel was our last night last stop in Italy. The price was great compared to Venice hotels. It is easy access to the shuttle bus to the airport and to the train to Venice(10 min train ride). The hotel looks crisp and clean nothing fancy but comfortable. The breakfast was quite small compared to other hotels we stayed in but was sufficient. We would stay here again if visiting Venice.

Excellent spot. Near enough to Venice. Easy to get by car and close to the station before Venice. Surrounding area is quitelively and a couple of good restaurants available. It is quite a change from the Venice crowdy environment. Heads up... there was no elevator to the second floor. Seems like there was one available for the other floors. Overall, I would sertainly go there again.

We enjoyed staying at Hotel Roberta. The only thing I have to say is that the hotel did not have an elevator. We had 8 people in our group with a lot of luggage! Other than that everything was good.

Compared to an equivalent hotel in Venice, the Roberta is significantly better value. Of course, during the summer months, it is next to impossible to get a hotel in Venice at the same price. Rooms: Good size, clean, A/C. Bathrooms: Clean, White, Modern and a little small to swing a cat. Breakfast: a nasty coffee machine, and pre-packed single serving items. Only the freshly backed bread was any good. Really close to the train. 1 euro each way to Venice with quite frequent trains. Only issue was that the train stops at around 23:30, so to get back from Venice required a taxi (16 Euro). However, Venice totally stops at around midnight so the train is not really a problem. I would stay there again, assuming the price is right. However, if you are going for a special romantic weekend, stay in Venice at least one night. That is what Venice is all about it will cost about 50 – 100 more than the Roberta.

How to reach Hotel Roberta

By car
Take the Mestre-Villabona exit of the highway and follow the indications to Mestre and then to the railway station, which is only 200 metres away from the hotel.

By airplane
Venice airport is around 10 km from the hotel. A public bus service connects the airport with Mestre railway station. The hotel is only 2 minutes on foot from there.
