Hotel Antico Moro - Zelarino, Mestre

the hotel delivered pretty much according to the expectations we had based on previous reviews. Was further from Mestre train station than expected (20-25 minutes) and 20 minutes from Venice. The front desk forgot to tell us the name of the buses from Venice which caused us some grief.Plan your toilet stops in Venice as toilets cost €1.50. Cafe's will allow you use toilets if you are patronising them.

Great hotel we really enjoyed our stay here until the day of departure. We checked out and left our bags with the hotel, on our return to collect our bags they advised that our children had lost one of the TV remote controls. This in fact was a lie, as I’m sure they just wanted another 25 euro from us. Don't know why as we already had paid our account in full. Watch out for the maid and the elderly lady at reception with the fair hair!

Everything was fine except there was a smell of the people that stayed before us in the room. Old people, apparently. Senior citizen smell! Unpleasant...Sorry.

We stayed in a quad room which was a king bed with twin size bunk beds. This was perfect for our family of two adults and two children. The room size was larger than I expected for a European hotel and the bathroom was also very large. The decor was outdated, but the room was clean. Some noise from the room next door - sneezes or coughs - but nothing to keep you awake. The neighborhood is quiet with a decent pizzaria next door and gellato down the street. The breakfast was a very nice European breakfast with bread, pastries, meat, cheese, yogurt, fruit, and coffee, cappuccino. We did not use the bus, but were told it was nearby. This was not the greatest hotel, but I considered it to be a VERY HIGH VALUE, considering the fact that it was clean, friendly, good quality breakfast, convenient to Venice, and we only paid 139 Euros for 4 people.

Great hotel. The staff is really friendly. One word of advice though: IT IS NOT NEAR THE RAILWAY STATION!!!

We stayed here two nights so we could go to Venice one full day then drive to the airport for flights to US the next day. They advertised close to the airport and it was about a 20 min drive. The street in front of the hotel was closed for a street fair so the desk clerks directed us to the bus reroute location. However, they sent us to the wrong place, costing us a 30 min wait in the sun then finding a policeman who showed us where to catch the bus. The bus ride was about 30 min and buses came every half hour. The restaurant next and attached to the hotel was very nice but pricy. We had one large room for four with a king bed and not-so-comfortable bunk beds. Shower was good and hot. Plenty of towels and amenities.

The name is a bit of a give away. Antico Moro, which translated into english, means ancient moor. Moors tend to be out of the way places, and this certainly was. A good 30 minutes walk from the centre of Mestre. There was a regular bus service, but not on Saturdays when there where none. Nice hotel, shame about the location.

We stayed only one night. Was comfortable, spacious, good beds and clean. Breakfast was ok... nothing special. The street outside of the hotel was a bit loud.

Room was very clean but smaller than pictured. Bath facilities excellent. Great breakfast selection and service. Bus stop was right in front and good service into Venice - no need to drive in. Free parking in rear was key. Restaurant next door was good - fresh pasta, mostly locals, good service, limited English. I would recommend this hotel as a place away from the crowds and a taste of local life in a nice little town. Easy access to the autostrada. Room was more modern than most lower priced hotels. Front desk very friendly. No elevator though. Very safe area.

Nice place - our room was surprisingly large. Restaurant service was really slow - be prepared. Difficult to find - make sure you know how to get there - our GPS couldn't find the place - took us to another street with the same name and had a problem with roads that had been closed.

Antico Moro was for us an excellent stay on way home after spending two weeks in Toscany. Hotel was more than we expected and the restaurant "Sotto il Segno" makes best pizzas we've eaten (sofar..). Good value for the money!

For only a day visit in Venice, we should have stayed in Venice. The hotel is too far, by the time you get the bus then the water bus which is expensive when multiply by 4 each way, is not worthed for short visit. The hotel is beautiful and the restaurant next door where we had dinner is great for longer visits to the area and not Venice

We are a family of four and we stayed in this hotel for three nights. I think this is is a very good choice for anyone who wants to visit Venice.Very clean and spacious room, very competent staff, nice breakfast, very good location for smb who travels by car. Zelarino is a very quiet neighbourhood and access to Venice is very easy by bus. I recommand this hotel. Surely, I would stay again.

Sehr schön renoviertes Hotel, extrem freundliches Empfangspersonal. Das Beste ist aber die Bushaltestelle ca. 50 m vom Hotel, von der aus man in ca. 20 Minuten für 1 € mit dem Bus mitten in Venedig landet und der ca. alle 10-20 MInuten fährt.

Ausgezeichnetes Hotel in jeder Beziehung. Sehr zu empfehlen.

Wonderful little hotel and a great value for the money! However, note that it can take an hour to get into Venice via bus and vaporetto. It's an easy trip, but just take the time into account! Also, we'd advise eating in the restaurants near the hotel rather than going into Venice for dinner since the prices are exorbitant and the quality mediocre at most places downtown. Mestre also seems to have some very good shopping so you might want to stop there also.

Excellent hotel, convenient location for visiting Venice (40 minute bus ride, and bus stop is right outside the hotel front door). Very friendly and helpful staff all around.

We arrived on a late flight and got a taxi there.Spacious air conditioned family room. Excellent restuarant next door was still serving!

Bien que situé hors de Mestre, l'accès à Venise est direct par bus (arrêt à moins de 50 m de l'hôtel) en 25 minutes : c'est extrêmement pratique. L'hôtel est facile à trouver grâce aux infos fournies par le site Internet. Le cadre est agréable, propre. A signaler, la présence d'un parking réservé aux clients de l'hôtel. Les chambres sont spacieuses et en excellent état. Le petit-déjeuner est très satisfaisant. L'ensemble du personnel est serviable, compétent et sympathique. Pas de problème avec le français qui est compris par le personnel d'accueil. Seul reproche, l'isolation phonique intérieure n'est pas parfaite : on entend assez facilement les voisins. En conclusion, excellent rapport qualité-prix. Hôtel à recommander.

Great quality vs. price ratio; very close to Marco Polo airport which is a plus. Watch carefully on the roundabouts to get on the right road to the hotel. Excellent independent trattoria attached to the hotel. Medium quality small mall w/supermarket within walking distance.

The location, while an outlying suburb past the industrial area of Mestre, was excellent for accessing Venice, as the bus from outside the hotel went straight to the Venice bus station on the island. The staff was fine, and the availability of free parking was a plus. The restaurant next door was also well priced with good food.
