The hotel was in a great location for trains to Venice or other parts of Italy. Unfortunately there is a red light area nearby and not so good later at night. We enjoyed our stay but found our room to be noisy with scraping noises and ticking at odd times possibly due to the lift. The bathroom was also quite small but adequate.

On a break with friend. Area bit dodgy at night, red light district. Bedroom walls paper thin, could hear next door using bathroom. Pillows hard. Ate out at nearby restaurant "Dolce Vita", awful meal chicken was raw in middle, tagliatelle cold and chips appeared after I had finished. If I came to Venice again I would not stay on mainland as the journey into Venice itself is tedious and there is nothing to do inthe evening in Mestre.

Hotel Ambasciata (HA) is modern, well located for access to Venice, and reasonably priced for the region close to Venice. Staff were polite, and made reasonable effort to provide a service. Language skills were basic; only one staff member spoke very basic English. The hotel design has lots of glass, no blinds, and only individual a/c in each room. This means that even on a fairly warm day, the room got very hot. The a/c is individual unit per room, preset to run at low level. Once the room gets hot, it takes all the night to get anywhere near comfortable. The management did agree to allow the a/c to run during the day, which was still really insufficient to be comfortable. Areas outside the rooms are not a/c, such as the halls and elevator, and get really hot. In summary, ok hotel when the weather is not above mid 20's. In hot weather, I would avoid the Hotel Ambasciata.

The hotel was close to the bus station with only 3 stops to Venice. The receptionists were amazingly informative about everything Venice. There was a laundrette half way up via Piave The town is safe and lovely. Also cheaper for dining than the island. The food is great here too.

The staff was conscientous, friendly, and helpful. The hotel was immaculate, in a safe neighborhood, and very quiet for sleeping. Breakfast was absolutely superb with a large variety of tasty choices. It was close to all transportation with easy access to Venice and local shopping. I stayed for six nights and enjoyed every minute of my stay. Hope you are lucky enough to be able to stay at the Ambasciata.

The girl receptionist is extremely helpful and friendly. She offers maps and instructions on tours to Venice and even recommend restaurants.Breakfast is good too. the place is quiet and clean;all things works in the room and though it is not very much close to Mestre station, and looks a little alarming at night, it is reasonable for its quietness.I will stay here again!

Hotel is a nice, clean and new building, The staff is very kind and helpful. Very handy to reach the train station (less than 5 min walk), trains to Venice every 10 min and it takes just 10 min to arrive in town. Breakfast is good and various, fresh croissants, cakes, ham, cheese, eggs with bacon. Cappucini and coffee are machine made but all the rest is good. Only one thing was not nice, the surrondings: quite but sad.

The hotel is quite small and reasonably accessible to public transport. There is a wonderful supermarket about two and a half blocks away,(at the bus stop). The real feature of our stay was the delightful attitude of reception staff. We were given a very helpful area briefing describing the local area, transport, and tourist sights. Being a small operation there were only two receptionists we met, and they were both incredibly helpful and friendly. The only negative was the small size of the bathroom, but we managed well enough.

Hotel is walkable from Mestre train station. I recommend one walk up Via Piave from station and then take Via Col di Lana about three blocks west to the end. Hotel is just north of there. The street running parallel to tracks has a very narrow irregular sidewalk and lots of shops and is congested, while the other street is residential and has wide sidewalks and few people. My single room was very small, with no place to put my suitcase. There were only 3 hangers in the closet. Bathroom was nice. Staff is friendly and helpful. The breakfast was very nice and included some fantastic spinach pie made by the owner. I was told hotel was built about 10 years ago but recently was taken over by new owner. He is on the premises daily and is very interested in getting guest comments. The hotel is several blocks from the restaurants and shops on Via Piave, but most people visiting the area probably eat in Venice, anyway!

The hotel is in a quiet location, a few steps from the railway station. Structure looks brand new, although pretty small. Rooms clean and ordered. Price very convenient at 60 Euro. So, all right?! A few main complaints: 1 - the parking area is really small, so when I got there, before dinner time, it was already full. I found one place just outside, but what if I hadn't? 2 - the single room I was given was really too small to survive. The reception guy said it was " a normal one", however he was kind enough to give me a double one, which was OK in space. 3 - Breakfast with all the usual stuff, but with no flavour. Juices really undrinkable.

We were met by a very friendly, informative and helpful gentleman who went out of his way to answer any questions we asked. The hotel is realaively new. The room was small but vey clean and comfortable and exactly what we needed. The train station being near meant we could go to Venice easily for dinner. We will be very happy to recommend this hotel to anyone

In November 2007 my wife and I stayed 2 nights at the Ambasciata Hotel in Venice-Mestre City (on the mainland), because we couldn’t find a hotel in Venice on the internet that met our minimum requirements. We highly recommend this hotel for those who don’t want to pay high rates for hotels in Venice that are hard to find, don’t have elevators, don’t have safety boxes, etc. This hotel is a 10-minute walk from the Mestre train station and is easy to find. It’s in a very quiet, safe, residential neighborhood. Trains between Mestre station and Venice station are very frequent, and make the trip in about 20 minutes each way. We did not find Mestre to be a gritty, unsafe city as described on some websites. Our room on the 4th floor was clean, quiet, and had a mini-safe and refrigerator. The bed was large and comfortable, and the lighting and heating were good. The bathroom had plenty of hot water, a large bathtub, and a heated wall-mounted rack for drying clothes. The hotel has a small breakfast room. The buffet breakfast, which was included in the rate, had a good selection and was very good. Mestre is not a tourist destination, so we had two minor inconveniences: lack of information about Mestre at this hotel, and no stores, restaurants, or public transportation near this hotel. However, taxis and busses are available near the train station. The night clerk was unable to provide any information about Mestre because of his limited English, and the hotel had no pamphlets, street maps, bus information, etc. If you want to do anything in Mestre, get as much information as possible before arrival at this hotel.

This hotel was a good find, a gteat place to stay if you want to visit the venice area being just a 1 euro train ride into Venice from the local station which is just 200m away with services frequent running throughout the day to and from Venice, and if you want to stay on the island late, when the trains finish at about midnight you can always get a bus which run hourly through the night back to the train station. The breakfact provided was good with a variety of teas, coffees, fruit juices and water on offer along with the usual continental offerings. This property is exceptionally modern and clean with functional rooms offering minibar, room safe, LCD TV, hair dryer, shower and very comfortable beds. If you have a car the hotel offers a gated car park as part of the quoted rates. The hotel is situated in a residential street whith building cramped in around it (but this is normal for Italy)the area is very quite at night and I saw no problems nor did I feel uncomfortable walking from the train station late at night, but I can understand why some people might. Booing in at the Hotel late at night was very simple as reception is manned 24 hours a day, the chap on the desk during the day is a great help and speaks perfet English. The only downside was the very thin walls, but if you don't mind listening in to everything (in detail) that goes bump in the night !! (from other rooms) you will find this a great place to stay on your trip to northern Italy and Venice. Enjoy.

We really enjoyed our 2 days stay at Hotel Ambasciata. We arrived by car, used GPS to find the address. There are free parking places in the closed yard of the Hotel. The staff was amazingly kind at the reception. The room was not too big but we spent few time there so it was OK. Everything seemed new and clean. Shower cabin was a bit narrow. Breakfast buffet was good, although we waited wider choice (no tea or vegetables). Location is perfect, in a quiet, family house area, railway station is in 5 minutes walk, from there you could go to Venice by train or bus (1€ both). There is a good and relatively cheap seafood restaurant (Columbus) near the hotel, and some internet points - in the hotel you can use internet only if you have your own laptop. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who can afford a 3 star hotel for a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Mestre.

This hotel had obviously either been recently built or completely renovated. It was exceptionally clean throughout; the room was spacious and comfortable. The breakfast buffet was very good, offering plenty of choice. For the price, it was exceptional value. It is easy to find from the main autoroute and a very convenient 5 minute walk to the train station where there are frequent quick train rides to the central railway station (1 Euro each way), from where it is easy to take the vaporetto wherever you need.

Our stay was more than expected. We have been to Italy and the Venice area over 10 times in the past 12 years and this was one of our best stays. The surrounding area near the train station seemed a little seedy but all in all we had no problems. Very convienent to Venice via the train. Breakfast was very good. The staff were more than helpful. Would recommend this hotel for anyone who wishes not to stay in Venice with high prices. Have stayed in Venice all other times, but this was more than worth it since we had an automobile and needed the free parking. Will do it again in a few months and will probably stay here.
