Wonderful stay in a gorgeous town. The rooms were very spacious, and although we had to share a bathroom (with only a few other travellers), it was large and kept extrememly clean. The square down below us provided quite a bit of entertainment and was quite loud, but the windows were that thick that all you had to do was close them and the sound was completely eliminated...couldnt even hear the church bells close by! The rooms were clean, the location was in the heart of the town and overlooking the lake...can't fault our stay. Would highly recommend this hotel.

For the price paid, the quality was pretty good. i would not call this place Hotel though, it is more like Rooms for sleeping. It was clean, no complains, but no phone, no TV, shared bathroom. If you are on a budget and need a stay for a few days, it could be a good choice. Location is good , but noisy.Church bell is right across the window.

This Hotel is all about location, which is right on the square in Menaggio. We did not take the breakfast option and to save cost went with the shared bathroom experience. The room its self was very nice, the bathroom the first night was a challenge...just common sense - courtesy issues but nothing that could not be corrected. Plenty of places to eat in Menaggio. The more popular restaurants required reservations, so plan ahead. If you stay during the summer, you will need to leave the window open and people like to stay in the square very late. With the windows closed, no issues. Overall I would stay here again, but opt for an en suite at the higher cost.

La habitación era muy bonita, el trato agradable y está situado en el centro de Menaggio (que tampoco es muy grande)en una plaza muy bonita con vistas al lago. Muy recomendable

excellent accommodation - even with shared facilities (these were spotless, and recently renovated). Good location (1 hr on bus from Como station; and a 5 minute walk to ferry wharf). Our room overlooked the Town Square which was noisy until midnight, so it was difficult at times getting to sleep. Internet, tv & fridge were non-existent in the room.

The hotel was perfectly located, the room was huge and the view onto the piazza overlooking the lake was amazing. The only issue was that we had to share the bathroom with 2 other rooms, but the bathroom was big and very clean. Overall, we had an amazing experience

Would have liked to have been able to stay longer to explore more. Boat trip to Bellagio was worthwhile.

A beautiful setting and a very friendly hotel. We stayed in the annexe across the square - the rooms were very clean and enormous! We used a shared bathroom which was spotless and spacious. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay but think the price for a room without private facilities was maybe a little expensive. Very friendly staff and overall a very good experience.

this is a great hotel right on the edge of the lake. Although our room was not en suite there were plenty of bathrooms to use that were spotless & HUGE. great breakfast at 9 euros so much food we only needed 3 to feed 5 of us. Secure parking too. this is a great resort for families as there is an outdoor pool by the lake that has public use.

Had a room with a lake view. View was great, and location put you right in the centre of Mennaggio. Unfortunately some roadworks were taking place right outside our window so not much of a lie in! Was not a big deal but the hotel could have told us. Also for the price I would have expected breakfast to be included, and would recommend you eat elswhere if you want anything other than Croissants and bread in the morning (although the coffee is excellent!)

The staff at the hotel were friendly and helpful. However, the actual picture of the hotel is not where the room I booked was located. Behind the hotel, down a dark alley, there is a small pension where the rooms are located. I also was unaware that we had to share one bathroom with 5 other rooms. When I booked the room, I booked "sea view". This was also not the case. The hotel website is not accurate. The town of Menaggio is nice & picturesque. However, there is not much to do and only a few restaurants. I would recommend not staying in Menaggio.

Excellent location overlooking the lake, and multiple restaurants and services within easy access.. Fairly quiet rooms, though neighboring rooms had very noisy patrons. Were in annex, lovely room, but a bit inconvenient, and with no lift. Breakfast was rather expensive for yogurt, juice, bread, tea. Overall, we had an extremely relaxing, pleasant stay. Rooms and shared bathroom kept very clean.

Excellent hotel, excellent location and friendly and helpful staff. Was everything that we'd hoped for and would have loved to have stayed longer. Menaggio is very quiet and there's more to do at the other towns on Lake Como, but if you're not looking for active nightlife and a huge range of eating opportunities this is perfect.

Beautiful room overlooking the lake. Awesome location, cafe staff are great and very helpful. Shared bathroom but we were the only guests and in the room next to the (massive)bathroom so felt like an ensuit anyway.

Wonderful location and nice hotel. Friendly family-run establishment. Only downside was having to pay extra for breakfast- which wasn't any great shakes. But overall, would definitely stay again.

Menaggio is perfect for exploring region sans car. We'll return to Menaggio but not Hotel Du Lac. The staff was great but the NOISE WAS BEYOND BELIEF. The littel 2 lane road between our window and the lake wall is the major bus/truck/ferry traffic route. Daily at about 5:45 AM, bus and truck stops outside our window filled room with noise and diesel fumes. A room in the back (away from street)may be OK.

What a lovely place to stay in Menaggio! We would definately stay here again and would recommend it to anyone visiting Lake Como. It was an excellent base for visiting other parts of the lake and for hiking. The only thing we were unlucky with was the weather! Also going at the end of the season meant little atmosphere in the other bars and restaurants during the evenings. The staff at Hotel Du Lac were great and very friendly. I especially liked the olives and crisps with each drink! Definately coming back in the hot summer months to experience swimming in the lake and walking up some of the mountains.

This is a small family run hotel and much less impersonal than a large hotel. The room and bathroom were both of a good size. Although the room overlooked the main square, the double glazing and air conditioning overcame any problem with noise. Breakfast was in the cafe bar in the hotel with a superb view over the lake. Menaggio is quieter and not as touristy as Bellagio. Of the two we preferred Menaggio with regular ferry access.

My sister and I stayed in Menaggio for 2 nights. We had wanted a room with a private bath but due to the busy season, there was nothing available. As a result, we ended up with a room in the Annex. To my surprise, the room was wonderful, spacious and elegant. The shared bathroom was huge, modern and very clean. It felt like we were staying in someone's home rather than a hotel. Our room was on the main square, however, once you closed the window, the outside sound was completely muted. A small and quiet town, Menaggio makes a nice base point for exploring the lake towns. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Location, location, location; this is definately the best thing about the Hotel du Lac and Menaggio in general and with it's own cafe in a prime position in the town square and only a few steps from the lakeside promenade, the hotel was a perfect place to stay, relax, join in the cafe culture and watch the world and his wife go by. The rooftop terrace was the perfect place to watch the most spectalular firework and sound display we have ever seen out on the lake, over a bottle of chilled prosecco. This is held on the 2nd Sunday in August. We would highly recommend this hotel and would definately stay again.

Our stay was due to the wedding of our granddaughter in Bellagio. The Lake Como area is beautiful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel DuLac. Our room overlooked the Piazza, which was a nice surprise, and hotel staff were informative, helpful and hardworking. Paul and Joyce Schell

we really liked hotel du lac, really good accomadation, lovely area, loads of places by boat and bus to see,we paid for a garage space which was well worth it as parking in menaggio is virtually a no-no during the high season.if you are eating out in the evening i would book a local restaurant as they are all full in the evening by about 7.45 pm.i'm hoping to come back next year on my motorbike as it's great for touring around the lake, breakfast at hotel was brilliant and it's great to sit outside eating it,in the sun and i have no hesitation reccomending hotel+lake como.

Excellent position away from main road traffic noise, right in the picturesque main square and yards from the lake. Very clean and comfortable room, and very up to date and spotless shared bathroom. It would be hard to beat this location for the money! NB There is a 10 euro charge for secure parking and breakfast is not included in the cheap rooms(Although our confirmation e-mail said it was)

Hotel Du Lac is in a fabulous location in Menaggio, right across the ( very narrow ) road from the lake with views from most of the rooms and the cafe / breakfast room. 30 second walk across the piazza to the very friendly tourist information centre which offers free internet to tourists for up to 30 minutes. We paid an extra 10 euros for a lock up garage for our car which was just 5 minutes walk from the hotel. Would be very difficult to find parking otherwise. Staff were scarce but efficient. This is a very small hotel. No public areas or internet connection. Breakfast was below average - coffee, juice, bread roll, pastry, butter, cheese and jam. They bring it to your table - not buffet style. We were a group of 3 friends, one couple and one single. The double bed was fine, but the pull out trundle / cot style single bed was not great for our single 6 foot friend. Bathroom was good with a jacuzzi style bath. Would stay here again and would recommend to others. Value for money in a beautiful location.

My mom, sister and I had to stay in their newer section, not in the main hotel. Quite a climb up stairs for some folks. Also, when you stay in this section breakfast is not included in the price. For the price, the full breakfast was fabulous - way more than one person could eat. Great location in the center of Menaggio, though the church bells were quite loud.

The hotel is very nice and the staff is very helpful. We arrived earlier than we were suppossed to after a long flight and drive and they had our room ready in 30 minutes while we had a cappuccino at their Cafe Central which happens to have the best cappuccino in Italy! Our room was very spacious overlooking the lake with great air conditioining and nice bathroom . The area is beautiful and you can take the ferry boats to visit the villages around the lake . Also, breakfast was good with fresh rolls, yogurt and coffee.

This is an extremely comfortable hotel which looks newly decorated to a high standard throughout. It is very well located on the side of a popular square in the town, right on the lakeside. The breakfasts are more than I was expecting and of a good quality. The stff were very friendly and extremely helpful. I am looking forward to my next stay at this hotel already.

This place was absolutely wonderful, for such a (relatively) low price. Even without the low price, it was an absolute jewel. The property is right on the lakefront, in a small town square, and our room had incredible views of the mountains and lake, and the square. Rooms were clean, large, and new, and the bathroom was large and beautiful. The staff is most gracious and hospitable. Although not necessarily a "children's" hotel, they had no problems accomodating our infant daughter, and in fact, spoiled her to death with cuddles and hugs and Italian nursery rhymes. At night my husband and I would get a piece of chocolate cake (divine) and glass of wine from the downstairs and enjoy it in our room near our happily sleeping daughter. Try and get directions from the staff, we used mapquest and it failed horribly. At du Lac, you are a 5 minute walk from the ferry, along the waterfront, and in "downtown" Menaggio, small as it is. We truly loved our time at this hotel, we had planned on only staying one night and then trying another town (Bellagio, Varenna) but decided for the price and the quality, we could hardly do better elsewhere. I recommend this hotel absolutely, and plan to steer some friends there in the spring.
