The hotel contacted us directly with arrival details which was very helpful. The service was excellent and it was lovely to wake up the next morning with a beautiful view over the valley.

I cannot fault this hotel. We stayed only one night and would like to have stayed longer. We had 2 quad rooms and they were very spacious, modern & clean. The hostess was very welcoming and gracious and was very helpful in recommending places to eat and a very good official guide.

This was our first visit to Matera and it fulfilled all our expectations.I cannot recommend Basiliani Hotel highly enough. The contact with the hotel before we arrived was excellent. The friendliness and helpfulness of the staff was wonderful. The breakfast, which was included, had everything we wanted. We had a first class meal at Francesco's Restaurant, very close to the hotel Basiliani Hotel.

We have been travelling for over 4 months through Africa & Europe and this is in the top 3 places we stayed. Outstanding and unique accomodation. Very new, clean, spacious and comfortable. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Definitely the best place to stay in Matera.

The hotel has 11 spacious and independent guestrooms set in ancient buildings.The rooms evoke the fascination of the prehistoric caves that you can see from the windows on the opposite Murgia plateau, included in the list of Unesco Heritage Sites.
Each room is individually designed in a contemporary minimalist style. They are partly built and partly caved out of the local tufa stone. Inside our guests can observe the bell-shaped cisterns that natives have used for the collection of rain water since the Neolithic Age, a system that has concurred to make Matera one of the oldest and best preserved examples of bio-architecture.
Our guestrooms feature air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi access, TV(analog, satellite, digital), minibar, private bathroom, shower, bath, hairdryer, courtesy kit. One room is reserved for disabled guests
