The hotel is perfectly located in the Vieux Port. The reception were so friendly, especially helping my friend contact the airlines when she lost her baggage. The rooms are spacious with a nice little sitting room.

The hotel is very central, next to vieux port as the hotel name indicates. Rooms are ok, too small but ok for a short stay. I stayed for one night. The service was excellent. The staff was very friendly when I needed help.

Very comfortable, lovely location. We had a room with a little balcony and views over both the port and the town. Also quiet and with spacious bedroom and huge bathroom. Well heated for a winter break.Only problem was WiFi connection which was temperamental at best.

We have stayed twice at this hotel in December and both times found it an excellent value in an ideal location, right on the port. Staff are kind and friendly. We were upgraded to a bigger room on both visits. The rooms are all spotless, attractive and comfortable. My only quibble might be the price of Wifi connection: 17€ per day.

Very nice staff, they were helpful and had suggestions for dinner. We were right next to the church bell, but it did not ring often and there was a charm to seeing it out the window. The bathroom was wonderful. There was free internet, but it was only in the common area/breakfast room. The room was not spacious due to the amount of furniture in it, but for the price and quality, the value was good. The location was awesome. We would definitely return to this hotel! Merci!

Very plesant quaint hotel; close to everything in Marseille's most charming area. Our room had a view on the old port but the street noise did awaken us in the early hours of the morning; a room opposite the port would probably be quieter. Staff was charming and quite helpful. At 20 Euros per person, the breakfast is just too expensive! Eat out.

Large Bedroom & huge bathroom in a very quiet room considering the traffic in Marseille. Pricey for instant coffee in the room & we didn't have the breakfast. Overall, we were very pleased with the location & hotel.

New Hotel de Vieux Port is a VERY nice hotel. Our room was spacious with a fabulous view of the port. The location is perfect, within steps of restaurants, the port, etc. Being right downtown it is a bit noisy, especially during the day, but then the hotel has AC so the windows can be closed. Also, the free internet terminal is a major plus in these days of ash cloud related flight disruptions. The breakfast is about average for Europe hotel breakfasts. Staff are friendly and helpful. Altogether, A+.

We adored our stay at the New Hotel Vieux-Port. Everyone who worked there was exceptionally friendly and very helpful. In addition, their attitudes in being helpful seemed very genuine - no sense of patronizing arrogance toward our simple questions. I would stay there again in a heart beat.

Great central location just a few yards from the old port. Hotel's "front entrance" is in a somewhat desolate back alley. A few street people look more pathetic than harmful. Samartaine, a busy bar overlooking the waterfront is a great place for breakfast.

Hotel is situated right near the old port which makes exploring by foot easy. Very comfortable room. Staff were efficient but a little cool. We did not have breakfast at hotel so cannot comment. You will need to get a taxi from station as it is too far to walk but be warned the drivers will rip you off.

Excellent location and very friendly and professional staff! Our room was rather small, but not smaller than average in France in that price category. There were also bigger rooms, with a balcony, for some extra price. We saw one and it was really spacious.

The hotel is relatively expensive - due to its excellent location at the heart of the Vieux Port. Some services - eg. single elevator, and breakfast buffet, do have some reserves. The main driver here is the location.

This is a lovely hotel, modernised but still full of character. Good enough for Jean-Paul Sartre so good enough for me! It really is right in the heart of the harbour so it is never dead quiet - which suited us city types just fine! A great place to stay in terms of style, location and value for money!

First time in Marseilles and Hotel right in centre. Room was big (on top floor) and only complaint was that it faced back onto church tower with only a small window. Did not take braekfast in hotel as I thought 14 euros was too pricy - plenty cafe's nearby offering cheaper. Would recommend hotel to anyone considering visiting Marseilles

On first arriving we noticed the area around hotel was a building site and work was on going from 8am till 1630 the ground floor next door was being rebuilt. The entrance was 2 automatic glass doors leading to an old style cage lift the entrance was shabby. Staff were very good and our room on the second floor was nice had a large bed good size bath room. The street out side was cleaned by a road sweeper around 0530 every morning which lasted 20 mins. The hotel is beside a large indoor shopping mall with a nice supermarket. Hotel is very near all the main restaurants and city centre. We found cafes and restaurants very expensive a litre of water with meal was 8 euro’s.

We had a beautiful spaceous room with a spaceous, well-equipped and well-designed bathroom. Beatiful view of the harbour and ready access to main attractions in the city. We would have been happy to re-use our towels in the interests of the environment. Also, toiletries need not have been replaced every day. We did not avail ourselves of the hotel breakfast, which seemed very expensive.

The location was fantastic, on a private alley which hosted a market the day I arrived. It's across the street from the water, and the mall, what more can a girl ask for?! It was a bit touristy, but in a very good way, since Marseille is not the safest of towns, and I was traveling alone. I felt completely safe. I had a quick but splendid visit, and would definitely come back to this hotel.

The Hotel is in an excellent location, i min from Metro station, 5 mins from Vieux Port marina and ferry boats and from cafes and restaurants. It is almost beside the Bourse, one of Marseille's biggest shopping complexs and i min. from Canebiere. The room was large, with a balcony looking over the port and with a large bathroom. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here, One small quibble was with the price of the breakfast. A short walk to one of the many cafe will but a breakfast for half the price. One of the best hotels I have stayed in in France.

Lovely hotel. Good location, but not easy to find from directions. Spacious, clean rooms with very comfortable beds and extra pillows. Communal areas could do with sprucing up a bit - the archaic lift broke down a couple of times but to fair it was very quickly repaired, even on a Saturday night. Staff were extremely helpful. We arrived bang in the middle of the Marseille Blue festival weekend - not for the faint hearted or those needing sleep as the unofficial celebrations went on until dawn!! The limited buffet breakfast at 12.50€ per head seemed a bit pricey for what it was - but was OK. Breakfast excepted, good value for money. If I'm ever back in Marseille I'd probably stay here again.

We asked for, and received, a beautiful balconied room with a view of the Vieux-Port and a gorgeous bathroom. During our 2-day stay, most of the staff we met were friendly and helpful. The elevator was tiny and did not work often. Relative to the other hotels we stayed in during this trip, the New Hotel Vieux Port was expensive for the quality and services offered.

Initially we got a terrible room, a bit dark and dreary. We asked if they had any other rooms and we managed to get a really bright, spacious room with a lovely view of the Old Port. It was great. If booking I would certainly recommend getting a room with a view - we would probably have felt differently about our stay if we had been stuck in the original room.

We stayed in Marseille for four nights. The hotel is right beside the old port, which is the nicest part of the city. It's also near some lovely restaurants and is very handy for the metro and bus/train services. The staff were very nice and spoke English. We weren't able to check in until three in the afternoon but we were able to leave our luggage with them. The rooms were all beautifully decorated and had spacious bathrooms. The room rate didn't include breakfast, which was an additional 11 Euro. All in all a really good hotel and brilliant location.

I choose the hotel for its location in proximity to Vieux Port. I have no regrets about my choice. Also, if you are coming in by car(rental) and unfamiliar with Marseille, then the hotel is well located to get in and out. However, on the very first day, maybe a little difficult as it is tucked away in a corner of VP. The rooms are spacious enough by European standards and value for money. (I'm Asian and more accustom to asian hospitality.) My only dissapointment is the surroundings of the hotel. It's main entrance is located facing away from the VP by itself not a problem but looks into the side of the Bourse. The area is dirty and smelly, something the hotel should take care of. If you are on the lower floor like I was on the first night, my toilet looks into the back alley and if the window is left open will allow in flies and bad odour !! We were given diff room sfor the subsequent nights. Room 401 I think is the best in the hotel!! It is right on the highest floor(below the suites) and afford the best view of the port. I would recommend this hotel to any traveller, but get the right room!!

The new hotel vieux port is very well located at the old port of Marseilles and right next to a Metro Station. It is also right beside the main shopping area of Marseilles and within easy walking distance of the old town. It was in a very convenient location for everything we wanted to do. We booked a superior room. It was large, nicely decorated, quiet and had good firm beds. The bathroom was spacious and modern while the bedroom was done in a traditional style and it had a nice sitting area. The staff were extremely helpful. They spoke excellent English and they could not have been nicer.

Very large rooms with bed area, large bathroom, and actual seating area. Considering how close you are to the port, I have to say that the rooms were pretty quiet. We were there the night of the World Cup Final, and you could hear some rowdiness, but it was not major. The location was very convenient to all of the touristy area of the port. We were only there for one night as we were taking the train the next day to Nice. While I do not consider Marseille to be my top choice to visit in France, if I found myself visiting again, I would strongly consider this hotel again.

Visiting Marseille without knowing anything about it is a little bit tricky, especially if you want to avoid the tourist prices. The Prices we paid where very good for the quality provided, the room seemed to be completely renovated before we got in. The Service ws decent, the breakfst was quite good (i never expected fresh ham n eggs in france). I relly recommend this hotel, its perfect for its surroundings (the vieux port) and really easy to find. The insider tip to have a nice meal is "Chez Madie" on the right hand side of the Viex Port, really good fish and menues for 22-27 euros.

Haven't been able to judge the hotel too much as it was overbooked and was thus unable to fulfil our reservation made several weeks in advance. We were moved to another hotel, very nice, but, when you've planned, booked and looked forward to a hotel on the Vieux Port for Bastille night, you expect to get a hotel on the Vieux Port, not half an hour's walk away.

Venere price was way below the rates listed at the hotel! I thought maybe there had been a mistake, but we got the room for the quoted price. Our room was newly renovated, spacious, we had a queen size bed, and the bathroom was large, gorgeously tiled in blue and white, sparkling clean. Our room was the only one on the mezzanine floor..where the dining room was located, but there was a double door way to our room and noise was minimal. The location cannot be better...steps to the Metro, Tourist Info, the Marseilles harbor, bus stops, you name it.

Wahib was very helpful. The room was terrific, especially the lighting; nice to have the makeup mirror also! Breaksfast buffet was OK. There was a festival in the square and they kept broadcasting a lot of stuff so it was noisy until 9:00 pm--we were still suffering jet lag and sleeping at odd times. Would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone!

We stayed in 5 different hotels during a 2 week trip and found this to be the nicest hotel we stayed in this price range (110euros). The rooms and bathroom were large and very nicely furnished. Beds were firm, location was great, right across from the Vieux Port and close to restaurants, bakeries, shops. Hassein( I know I have spelled his name wrong) was very friendly and helpful. My only complaint is that we were there 2nd week of October and the AC had been turned off for the season. It was warm at night and if we opened the windows, there was a lot of street noise. It seems they wash the streets in Marseille evey morning around 5am.

Not particularly impressed when we arrived at the time we said we would, at a hotel which was by no means cheap, and were given what was quite obviously a poky overflow room. This, combined with Bastille Day street fireworks and general madness in the area, gave us the impression that we had commenced our descent into hell. The management redeemed themselves though by moving us into a much larger room next night. while breakfast was good value for money and the breakfast room was very pleasant. Location right on the Vieux Port couldn't be faulted.

I took the superior room, which means a nice spacious sitting area. Two windows opened onto the street, the sounds from the sea and the sea of people passing wafting through in the afternoon. The hotel is in the tourist area, step out of the hotel, turn right and you are at the port, Norte Dame on the hill is about a 45 minute walk, restaurants dot all three sides of the port with a nice mixture of tastes. I did not use the breakfast room, but it looked like the traditional French breakfast of breads, jams, and such. Overall, a nice place to stay for a weeekend in Marseilles, France. The only drawback was the fact that they were still refurbishing thier rooms. When the improvements are finished, it will be an even better hotel.

The hotel and rooms were very nice, however, our air conditioner was broken and the ceiling to our room had a water leak. We did not get a wink of sleep because of the heat, but the room decor and cleanliness was very good. The hotel gave us just a small discount for the inconvenience. Location was excellent.

We booked a "superior room overlooking the harbour" and that was confirmed. On arrival we were given a room entirely facing the opposite building and with no harbour view. We arrived on a Saturday and the reception staff person was dismissive, uncaring and unwelcoming although he did allocate us a room that was in compliance with our booking the next day. We were not made aware of continuing upgrade work until we arrived. The hotel lacks the type of warm and welcoming atmosphere that we had looked forward to for so long before arrival. It was not made clear in our booking that the hotel does not have its own parking facilities and we had to struggle to find the entrance to the public car park and then carry heavy luggage to the hotel with no assistance offered. We were not sent maps of the precise location of the hotel and many local maps do not show the street at all. The rooms are dull, dark and in need of brightening up i.e. better colour schemes, some flowers etc. If I owned the hotel I could easily make it a much more welcoming place with more appropriately chosen staff at the weekends. Note: the weekday reception staff we found were far better than the weekend person who frankly is precisely the wrong type of person for the job.

Nice hotel in a good location. Easy walking distance to local attractions. The breakfast that was provided did not adequately match the price charged. Also, service of some breakfast items was stopped well before the end of the time given for serving breakfast. Overall, a reasonably good value for the room.

I really like the time I spent at the hotel. My room was clean and quiet and the bed was very comfortable. My only problem was that the TV reception was poor. I have already recommended the place to some friends.
