Very good for a one night stay. One minute walk from Old Port area of Marseille.Rooms clean but very small. not for big persons. Must do: visit Notre Dame de la Garde Basilica overlooking Marseille and the port. fantastic view.. Take the *small train* just outside on Vieux Port -7 euros per person. Visitez aussi le marhé au poisson- vieux port -le matin.

Staff very nice. Hotel very close to Old Port - location great. Rooms small, but fine for a four night stay. The hotel was everything we expected and we were not disappointed. We had a great vacation!

The hotel lounge can only be reached after getting in a small door, then climbing up a narrow and a bit dark stairs. It makes the hotel so non-attractive. We were assigned with a room at 5th floor. It can only be reached by climbing up more stairs or there is a lift to get you there. Unfortunately, the lift is so small that you do not want to try it.

NO air conditioning. Elevator was too small to fit for two people with baggages. Overall, a room is clean with nice renovated bathroom.

Pro: The location is perfect, very close to the port. The wireless internet connection worked very well and is included in the price per night. Contra: The aircondition system makes a very unpleasant noise in every room and cannot be shut down. Not all employees can speak English what makes it sometimes a bit difficult to order breakfast at the right time etc.

The stay at Hotell du Sud was very charming, the location of the hotel was excellent in Marseille, breakfast in the room the best surprise..next time, please give more information about the price of the breakfast. That is why the prices were very different from the booking on the webpage, which initially came as a surprise. And also, the map of Marseille could be in the rooms as well... Otherwise, everything was the best, thank you! Greetings from Estonia, K

A decent and cheap hotel. I wasn´t expecting much of it and knew the rooms are small. Wanted only a place to sleep and well located. xxx Hotel decente e barato. Não esperava muita coisa. Queria apenas um local para dormir, com boa localização.

We stayed for two nights in Marseille in this niostalgic little Hotel directly by thze Opera house and 50 meters from the old port and where very happy there. The disco in front of the Hotel is loud, but when you close the double-windows you dond't hear anything. Nice private athmosphere, sweet personal and a cosy place. We'll come back

We stayed during the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final weekend, when everywhere else in the city was fully booked. In the event, this hotel was a great choice as it was a very short walk from the Vieux Port and had good access to the Metro and local shops/bars/cafes. A friendly receptionist, rooms a bit small but perfectly OK for a few nights stay. The only downside was the seedy clublife in the adjacent streets if you're returning late! Functional, clean and good value overall. But if you want a view, try elsewhere!

It is a small boutique hotel with small/adequate room size for me as a solo traveller but the excellent helpfulness and honesty of the proprietor and his staff made it a pleasure to stay there - security is very good and they went out of their way to assist me with helpful advice - accomodated every request without hassle - good value for money and superb central location - would definitely stay there again.

I was on my own and only for one night . I couldn't get a flight on the day . It was fine but I wouldn't have liked to spend more time there. Helen

I stayed in a single room for a week while working in Marseille. The room was to small, there was no shower-curtain and the elevator was very noisy. Also the breakfast was to expansiv regarding the fact that you had to eat in bed due to the lack of any real other space. Altough there was a ramshackely chair you could not realy sit on it working on the (even more) ramshackely desktop, because there was not enough space between bed and desktop. The room was clean, but the bed was not fixed properly and thus sliped away over the floor while touching it.

Very friendly staff and were happy to look after our bags for the day once we had checked out. Another bath/shower without a shower curtain and when tried to have a bath as an alternative to a shower neither of us could barely fit in it.

Good Hotel, but with some little defects. I stay here in the second week of june 2006 with very hot temperatures, and my room was located on the internal side of the building. Air conditioned was not working thus I opened the window of my room but the smell of the neighborhood restaurants was too strong and I preferer to close the window. For anyone I suggest to ask for a room faced on the street.

I was extremely impressed with the hotel - it was very clean and friendly and the satff were all very obliging. It has a great location, just off the harbour and main shopping area, but this does not mean you are disturbed by noise at night. I would recommend it as a base for single travellers as it is easy to get to the train station and felt safe to return to. Also excellent hot chocolate!

I was satisfied with the location of hotel. It is really close to the tourism office at old port of Marseille; and, it means that you take 3 mins to get to the port. Although the hotel is located in popular and crowded area but it is quiet if you stay in your room. Regarding the room, I think it is pretty clean and spacious for me. I can say it is a typcial business 2 star hotel, convenient and clean.

For a two star French hotel this was an excellent selection. The owner and staff were warm and welcoming. The hotel lobby and all rooms were recently renovated with pleasant color coordination for each room. A pleasant continental breakfast was served. Excellent location - in the heart of the most popular tourism area - the Old Port. My only criticism was the the phones were inferior and prevented me from receiving several calls. Management was gracious in allowing me to change rooms, but the situation was no better in my new room.

The air conditioning was not working the night we were there. The room was absolutely tiny and it overlooked a noisy street, so we had to keep the windows shut. Result: a very uncomfortable night. The hotel staff did not offer any reduction in the price of the room to compensate for the lack of air conditioning.
