All together it was good. The bed cover blanket was pretty old. the carpet wasn't near new either. Otherwise it was fine.

The hotel was difficult to locate, because there are 2 buildings on the street with the same address. Coming from the port, the other building is arrived at first, and it has the same name written on the front. Once I arrived in my room, I was appalled at the condition of the carpeting - quite spotty and stained, giving an appearance of being dirty. The cleaning staff did not make the bed in a manner that was welcoming to crawl in; bedspread was not put on properly. The staff at the front desk was helpful and had this not been the case, I would have gone elsewhere. This was a 2 night stay.

This was the fisrt time staying here, we arrived late but couldnt get the employee to open the door surely they would be expecting us, our room was really nice but on a busy road couldnt sleep all night even though we were tired, glad we only booked for one night, found another room quieter for the rest of the duration.

Very poor quality hotel. They kept hassling us for our credit card number prior to our stay, even though we gave it to them via venere.com and also rang them with it twice (we should have just cancelled it then), and the room was tiny and not very clean. The bathroom door wouldnt close as the wood was warped and the handle was broken. There was no shower curtain in the bathroom, which meant that the bathroom flooded even after a quick shower. Very noisy as the room was next to the reception area. Fortunately we only stayed for one night, would not recommend this hotel.

This hotel is on a main street very close to the port and many wonderful restaurants. It's also only 1 block from the subway which offers a quick ride to the train station. All the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely hotel with perfectly clean, attractive (but small) rooms. Was very satisfied with our stay. A short walk down the hill to the Vieux Port and a 1 minute walk to the nearest Metro. Lots of patisseries etc. on same street as hotel. Had never been to Marseille before but was really impressed with the city. Would give this hotel top marks if it had been a little cheaper!

We had a brief stay in Marseille before returning to the U.S., and we feel pleased to have located the Du Palais in such a convenient location. The young lady on duty when we arrived was especially pleasant and helpful.

Hotel is good, though I found it over rated by other customers. There are few rooms on the back (quiet). I had a 'comfort' room that was ok for the size. Very clean, apart from the bed cover (as often in **/*** hotels in France). In my judgement it is actually a high standard ** hotel.

Not far from the town centre and easy walk to the tourist spots. Quite small rooms, and internet connection in the business centre was terrible.

I was only one day in Marseille, the election of this hotel was great cos is a nearby point from the port, restaurants and bars. A nice detail is having lcd tv in your room. The building is old, the rooms are not very big not very small, but enough to stay a few days, and rooms are not decorated like an old style. So if you share your room with a friend for a few days in this city, is a good place to come and not to spend a lot of money. My rating for this hotel is a 7.5

The location of this hotel if fabulous. Just 3 min walk to the main harbour and where everything is happening! There are a few beaches, 2 man-made ones a metro ride away and a small natural beach within walking distance (15min). We went clubbing which is walking distance. Next to the hotel is a shop which sells everything, a bakery and a pharmacy. The hotel even has a safe in the room which is free to use. Would definatley stay here again.

This is a very clean little hotel within easy walking distance to the Vieux Port and shopping areas. There are hundreds of good restaurants, bars and coffee houses also in walking distance. The staff was one of the friendliest we found in Europe and were very helpful. We have always stayed in larger hotels in Marseille, but now that we have found the Du Palais, we will always stay there.

A very comfortable and hospitable place in an otherwise somewhat inhospitable city. Room decoration was really elegant, with red walls and beams. We didn't try the breakfast buffet, but we probably should have, as getting a decent expresso from a street bar seems to be quite impossible in Marseille. As for the neighborhood, though central, it does look a bit drab, but the restaurant district (Rue Sainte)is conveniently nearby. Highly recommended.

Hotel was good for short stay, for a longer stay the space in the room (for luggage, wardrobe) should be a little more convenient. Our stay was private, arriving by airplane in MRS and to continue by "car rental" to other cities witin the "Provence" area.

We arrived at about noon and the staff helped us to book a cab to Le Rhul for the famous bouillabaisse. The view from the restuarant was magnificent. After lunch, we took a slow walk along the beautiful Corniche J F Kennedy back to Vieux Port. Taking the train to Notre Dame was a waste of time. The best place to view the port is from Jardin Du Pharo. It was breathtaking. The bad encounter was the rude Negro staff at the train station's baggage room.

A small, friendly hotel situated close to old harbour. Very friendly and helpful staff. The taxi-situation in Marseille is awful, but the staff helped us i every way - also with transport to the airport. If you are looking for a small, not expensive hotel with everything you really need when you are in the middle og the city, this is the place in Marseille to stay in.
