location is great in centre of Vieux port and lots of eateries close by. Room was clean but hallways were tired looking and musty. The night staff on check-in and with issues was rude. Day staff was very helpful however. Room views were non-existent. Rooms are ok size but nowhere to unpack. "Modern" furniture looks cheap. We had to change rooms (downsize) due to issues but were not provided any room credit. Stopped outside at bar one evening but were not served. Certainly expected more from a "4-star"

Good location on the Vieux Port. Room was nice, but details require a bit of refurbishment to be at their original quality. Overall a good value for money but just at discounted rates.

We booked a quad room; the room was spacious and could accommodate my family of 4 (teenagers 18 &14) and luggage for us all. The bathroom was modern; the room had a safe and a refrigerator. The location of the hotel was very central. We could walk to the Moroccan/Arab market on the back streets, shopping at Lafayette, H&M etc. and to the good restaurants on the newer side of the Vieux Port were only a 2 minutes walk on your left hand side after you step out of the hotel. The ticket booth for taking boat ride tickets to the calanques was a 10 minutes walk to the other side of the port. Unfortunately the port is under construction for the entire year of 2012 and will be ready in 2013. The port is very noisy due to construction, but most of the work started after 9.00am hence we were able to catch good sleep (minus the ambulance noises on the streets below). Also walking is not very easy around the port streets. This was our last stop before we flew back to US and kids were happy to see McDonalds right below our hotel. Also there was a nice juice place below our hotel that served freshly squeezed fruit juices, smoothies, yogurt shakes and was welcome after a hot day of walking on the port. We had 2 whole days in Marseilles, and I would change that and make it only one day/night halt. Take trip tickets to see calanques first, Take a the train ride to the Nostradamus church before or after the boat ride as they are close by, then eat fresh sea food dishes at the port for lunch then walk the arab markets for 15 minutes, and then shop the later part of the afternoon, and end the day with a quite dinner on the new port side. The hotel staff was good to give us maps, shopping locations, making restaurant reservations, wake up call and calling a good taxi for a ride to the airport.

This is not a 4 star hotel 2 at the most. Room was too dark to read a book or newspaper. TV did not work at times. Room was very clean, staff friendly and good location.

It's a perfect hotel to stay for a few nights. Right at the corner of the Old Port with plenty of restaurants and cafes around. I honestly reccomend.

Good hotel, a little old (dirty carpets) and with some reforms needed, but overall a nice place to stay near best touristic options and public tranport alternatives. The fare reflects the site. Room was ok.

While the location was excellent (right on the harbor, one block from Metro, good restaurants, two blocks from the mini-train tour base), late night party-goers brought some unwelcome noise. The lobby's a bit spartan (almost non-existent!), but the room was fine and the staff very helpful and spoke excellent english.

Great hotel in fantastic location, close to bank, money exchange, post office, shops, bars and restaurant. Right oposite port where the fishermen sell their fish and the growers their flowers each morning. Tour boats leave on trips down the Calanque coast to Cassis or out to the Islands, took both, very good value and fantastic sightseeing. Also the 'Grande Tour' bus leaves frequently from the quayside for it's city tour, very worthwhile. In addition two mini-trains go in oposite directions, one for a tour of the old Marseilles, the other to the top of the hill to the cathedral, six euros each, DON'T MISS !!! Lovely room on 4th. floor front with the best bathroom jacuzzi tub and rainshower. First class breakfast BUT...inatentive service at SIXTEEN EUROS each!

Our stay was superb! Perfect hotel, perfect position. Booking the room I didn't even think that we will remain so pleased. As usually we see on the sites lots of false or "not-enough-correct" information. In case with Tonic Hotel everything was true... or even better. Marvellous cosy modern comfortable room, professional staff ready to give information needed, nice position in front of the port, metro station, stop of city-tour bus, lots of restaurants and cafe. If and when we will come back to Marseille - we won't even have to think where to stay. I wish there were more hotels like Tonic.

The hotel has an excellent location to discover the city. Wholly renowated rooms and spacious bathroom were impressive. There was some noise from the surrounding early in the morning, but I admit this is normal because of central location. Marseilles deserves a visit even for the food..

Nice rooms, nice design. Very poor the care of the reception area (used as a storage room!!!) and an awful smell coming from near mac donald starting from the stairs. Terrible in the morning!! Real pity, because great location and very nice rooms for a fair price.

A reasonably good hotel in a good location. It's pricier for that reason. There really is nothing to complain, except for the fact that the place seems to try to present itself better than it is.
