Best breakfast we've ever had in Italy/Sicily; an extraordinary array of wonderful things. Parking was right out front. We could walk to restaurants and around the old part of Marsala. Our room was very large with a nice view of the little piazza out front. The wall between ours and the adjoining room was a little thin and we could hear sounds coming from their bathroom but this would not deter us from staying here again. One of the highlights was sipping marsala in the elegant bar area. We loved this hotel!

5 star hotel at a 3 star price. We decided to atay an extra night just soak in the luxury. Tall ceilings, exceptionally large guest lounge area, makes one feel like Humphrey Bogart and Kathryn Hepburn. Outside garden is huge with many exotic plants. Service is impeccable, with Roberto and Gianni rushing around attending to you every need. Don't pass up this one!

A true gem in downtown Marsala -- easy to find, easy parking, great room, great service.... Can this be Italy?????? Of course not. It's Sicily.

This was our first stay but it will not be our last. This is a lovely hotel in a perfect location--a really stunning property, beautifully restored. The public rooms were beautiful and inviting and the garden, really lovely.

Very nice place in the center of the town, extraordinary breakfast with lots of homemade cakes a pity, that the gardenterrace was not yet in use ,though we had pretty sunny weather

The hotel is excellent, although Marsala is not a really nice city. But from Marsala you can go to some interesting places such as the salines, Selinunte...

We stayed at this hotel for seven nights and were very happy with it. The old convent building has been beautifully restored, with pleasant public spaces and nice rooms. We had a first-floor room with a wide terrace outside where we could sit overlooking a lovely, well-kept, garden. Perfect! Marsala is not at all touristy so there are not that many restaurants, but the ones we went to were good.

This is a beautifully restored hotel. Historical features are maintained but with some modern details so it doesn't feel like a musuem. It is on a charming square with the bonus of plenty of free parking. Note that you may want to tip a local character who "oversees" the parking. Our room was on the 1st floor with a little balcony overlooking the square and bell tower opposite. Very spacious all round, with antiques, tiled floors and terrific modern bathroom with large shower and not hand held. Very comfortable bed. The reception staff are warm and helpful. Only downsides were a thin wall between us and adjoining room - could hear shower etc. I also got the impression from other websites that breakfast was served in the garden. However, it was served in a lovely room on 1st floor and you could take down to the garden if you liked. There was an amazing spread of cakes - so when in Italy enjoy dessert for breakfast. Marsala has a lovely quiet charm and is a great base to explore from. Don't miss the trip to the island of Mozia with it's amazing museum. It is about a 1/2 hour drive away. On the mainland nearby is a great restaurant - Eubes. Very good seafood and pasta.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were friendly and everywhere was clean. The public rooms are just as pictured but not used much while we were there. The bar was not always manned but the conciege would always fill in. Our bedroom would have been improved by some more shelving/cupboard space and some hooks on the back of the doors but the bed was firm and comfortable and well made up. The shower room was slightly cramped but always clean with lots of instant hot water. The room was quiet, overlooking the garden but occasionally one was woken by the noise of other bedroom doors being shut noisily. The buffet breakfast was fine, although heavily weighted towards a huge assortment of cakes rather than the usual Germanic meat and cheese spread. We ate at several local restaurants, which were recommended by the manager. The Luna Rosso, pizzeria, and the Bodega del Carmine, more expensive, were both friendly and we had enjoyable dinners in both. It is sometimes difficult to park immediately outside the hotel but there was always room in the lay-by on the Viale Isonzo (shown on the map) about 150m away by the Archaeological Park. Marsala itself is a maze of narrow one way streets - avoid driving in them! There is a better range of shops than you might imagine in a town of this size. Explore (on foot). The West of Sicily is fairly quiet but very pretty in early May. It's a pity about the roadside litter, especially in Palermo.

This hotel was so fantastic we stayed an extra night. The rooms were beautiful, service great, breakfast with fresh squeezed orange juice was fantastic. Marsala is an overlooked destination and the location of this hotel allows you to explore conveniently. The only drawback was no wireless Internet. I would not stay anywhere else in Marsala and I regret that this quality is not found everywhere in Sicily.

We had a wonderful stay at the Carmine, and relied heavily on our hosts for ideas/things to do. Patrizia helped us out during a rental car "crisis" for which we were very grateful . . .
