We had a lovely stay in Maratea the hotel was located within a stone's throw from the main square perfect location. Staff were very patient with our slow Italian, and they were very helpful. Breakfast was standard Italian coffee and pastry. The only downside was the bed was a bit uncomfortable. We couldn't use wifi in our room, just the lobby.

The quality of the hotel does not correspond to its price. It's way too expensive for such an old, unclean hotel. In addition, traveling to Maratea does require a car, the train station is far from the town, and the beaches.

The hotel is a charming old building high in the heart of old Maratea. Lots of steps up to reception. We did pull up to a side door to unload. Our room was quite spacious with access to a terraza 3 floors above a busy and fun piazza with a beautiful view of old city, mountains and sea. Manager was very welcoming and friendly, even tho we spoke little or no Italian and she spoke even less English. Some confusion on room rate, probably language difference. Enjoyed our 2 night stay. Decent bed, adequate linens, etc.

There was no one at the front desk on our arrival, as everybody semed to be working at that moment on the nearby restaurant (to be avoided, by the way)owned by the same people. We had to call for someone. Airy rooms, with plenty of space, and a cosy terrace to have breakfast (caffée & croissant and little more). The location is good, right in the center, by the bus stop.
