just returned yesterday from hotel piccolo. found the hotel ideally situated outside of Malcesine. had a car but also used tourist bus, Hotel was clean and rooms very spacious (superior lake view). breakfast plentiful and good variety of night menu. plenty of fish on menu. dinning room has fantastic views. Staff all friendly and English spoken, especially by Maria who really looked after us. first time to Lake Garda and drove to north south and west shores however found Malcesine to be easily our favourite and most picturesque town on the lake. hotel pool good with views over the lake, plenty of chairs/loungers, beach area easy to access and very clean area. We would definitely recommend hotel piccolo and hope to return again.

For singles and couples quite comfortable, marvellous view to the lake, but with open windows rather traffic noise; the air condition was out of order.

The Hotel itself is pretty good, but the owner's not polite: during our stay, the boiler was broken but before noticing it, the owner said us it was perfectly working,it was our problem because we wanted the shower's water too hot and then invited us to change hotel if we were not appreciating it. Fortunately, the owner's wife and daughter noticed the problem and called the repair service. We couldn't take the shower the first and second evening of our stay, but we didn't recieve any discount or even excuse from the owner...

We stayed in a standard room. All the rooms with sea view are next to the street which is very loud-even if you close the balcony door. The manager of the hotel is very unfriendly and was unable to help us. We asked for another room, her answer was that it is our fault that we didn't mention that we want a quiet room. Nowhere in the pictures (website) you could see that the rooms are next to the street, and the pictures don't show what you really get! We are completely dissatisfied with the rooms and the unfriendly manager. We wouldn't recommend this hotel! The bathrooms from the standard rooms are really old and cobwebbed (also in the superior room there were lots of cobwebs). The price is far to high for what you get. The rooms seem to have not been refurbished for many many years..There is also a frowsty smell in the rooms.

First time to Lake Garda. The hotel was just what we needed. Small enough to be friendly and big enough for us to feel private. We felt the staff were looking out for our family. The evening meals which had to be pre booked, were tasty, well presented and excellent value. Although the architecture was uninspiring, the hotel was well situated to give Lake views. We appreciated being on the outer edge of Malcesine's thorough fare and using the hotel's own 'beach'.

We went to Italy for a family wedding and our stay at The piccolo just enhanced our family celebrations. The staff were wonderful, the rooms were comfortable and the views were outstanding. We will be going back!

A second visit to this well run family hotel confirmed our previous experience of good quality food and a staff who were genuinely helpful and attentive. We would recommend it. A slight minus is that a road runs between it and the lake.

We stayed in suite 3 and were delighted with the contemporary design of the rooms, especially the bathroom (spa bath) and separate shower room. The views from the living arera and bedroom over the lake were fabulous. The large balcony was ideal for an evening drink and soaking up the magnificent scenery. It is likely that in the summer months there would be a fair amount of noise from the road in front of the hotel. The food was reasonably priced and excellent, as were the staff.

Rude staff and poor services (air conditioning is turned on only when staff think it's hot enough and only from 17h to 24h). Shower cabin much too small for someone taller than 1m70 (and I am 1m90).

The hotel is about 3-4km from malcesine. You can get the bus there for around 3E for two people. A taxi costs 8E to Malcesine and as the last bus is at 7.30 which is when they serve dinner at the piccolo, a taxi is the only option. The room was quite spacious with a stunning view of the lake but the bathroom is tiny and the shower is unbearably small. The staff are friendly and the food is excellent. There is a busy road to cross outside the hotel so be aware of this. We came here for a friends wedding and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would return but would stay closer to malcesine. There is lots to do and you must go on the cable car, the view of the lake is breathtaking. The ferry from malcesine goes all around the lake and costs 14E each for a day pass which is well worth it as Riva del Garda is beautiful!. Malcesine is quite cheap to eat and drink and the wine is cheaper than the beer and of good quality. Our friends got married in the castle and it was really romantic and picteresque, its quite popular for couples to get married here. Hope this info helps!! we also got the bus to Verona Airport which cost us 11E for the two of us. it takes two hours for the journey.

I was given a room on the lakeside with a balcony, which it turns out to be a beautiful location. I loved the scenery from the balcony overlooking the lake, mountains and picturesque surroundings; it is truly a romantic scene. The room was spacious and clean with an effective A/C. The parking a bit tight at the entrance level since the hotel is located on a cliff overlooking the beautiful lake; however, there is a parking space on the roadside for the hotel. The breakfast was wonderful. Very friendly owner and his wife. I will go back anytime. I loved this place and I loved the town.

For the price the room was very good and the choice of food at both breakfast and dinner was very good indeed. The staff were pleasant and helpful and there was good parking. The hotel is well situated with excellent views onto Lake Garda. There is some traffic noise but it is not too intrusive. Altogether a very good base from which to explore the area. An excellent base for windsurfers, cyclist and walkers.

Good hotel with fantastic views across the lake from both the breakfast room and lakeview rooms. Its a bit outside malcesine and we took a taxi or drove in. Small beach near the hotel that would be good in the summer, it was a bit too chilly while we were there. Rooms are quite basic and the bathroom is small but the space in the rooms and the view makes up for it at this price.

Dass man mehrere Tage die selbe Serviette bekommt, fanden wir mehr als unhygienisch! Dann wären Papierservietten noch vorzuziehen. I hope you understand german... It is not hyganic to get the same napkins each day for a whole week. In this case they better prefer one-way papernapkins.
