We have now visited this hotel twice and will be returning in the future. This year there is a new tourist bus operating in the area (in addition to the local buses) so if you don't want to walk into Malcesine along the lakeside path, you can catch this. The bus stops are right outside the hotel, it is the Val di Sogno stop.

We had a fabulous time at the Hotel Benacus! The staff were so friendly and the hotel was lovely. The walk into central Malcesnie was beautiful and only took about 20mins at a strowl. The area was stunning and we will return to Lake Garda one day; whenn we do we'll definately stay at the Hotel Benacus again!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Robert and the entire family and staff were very good for service, directions, etc., made us feel very welcome. Pool area was very clean and quiet, an oasis from the free parking area and street. Great breakfast buffet every morning in a spacious dining area or several tables on the balcony. Easy walk to city center along the lake path, well-lit, several restaurants too. Tourist bus is a very good option too, 15-min ride to center (all bus stops are only a few meters from the hotel). There is a small grocery, bank - auto teller, and newsstore next to hotel. Malcesina is very pretty, several restaurants and well-connected, we took public bus to Verona with no problems. Free car parking too. One of our best stays.

Our first stay at Hotel Benacus which is situated on the outskirts of Malcesine but there is a Tourist bus which takes you into the centre at a cost of 1 euro. Alternatively there is a lovely 30 minute walk alongside the Lake which takes you into the centre. The hotel is run by a brother and sister and they were excellent hosts and could not do enough for us. The bedrooms were fine and we had a large balcony which overlooked a busy road which fortunately was quiet at night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel to others wishing to stay in Malcesine which in our view is one of the best locations in the lake Garda region.

The Benacus is a wonderful, family hotel. We were welcomed with a beaming smile and loads of invaluable information, which set the tone for the whole of our visit. It takes around 20 minutes to stroll along the delightful lakeside path into the centre of Malcesine, where there are many good restaurants. In early August it is very busy, of course, but we enjoyed the lively atmosphere of the old town and the lakeside views were stunning. We were visiting Malcesine for a wedding in the mediaeval castle, but we found time to use the cable car and walk around Monte Baldo and cross the lake to Limone. Both worth a visit. The hotel itself was run very efficiently. There was a good, substantial buffet breakfast in the large dining room which has a very pleasant balcony. The pool and surroundings are immaculate, like the rest of the hotel. Although near the main road into Malcesine, there was surprisingly little noise. Our well-furnished room facing the lake had a very large balcony - more of a terrace really. The main feature I would stress was the charming service. In particular, both brother and sister who alternately manned reception were always very helpful indeed, with a ready sense of humour. Altogether a great family-run hotel which my wife and I can unreservedly recommend.

Hotel Benacus is excellent value for money. The breakfast was lovelyand I was impressed with the selection. The view of the mountains when sitting by the pool is stunning. I think the garden is very pretty and we spent much relaxing time there. The location is great as it enables you to go on a lovely walk round the lake to the main town which takes about 20 minutes. We were also pleased there is a bus stop right outside the hotel which took you into town. We stayed in a double room which was generously sized with an equally large bathroom. It felt as homely in the hotel as it can when you are away from home. I would recommend it to anyone.

We chose Hotel Benacus because of the very positive comments on Venere and were not disappointed. Roberto, the owner, was so welcoming as soon as we arrived and gave us a choice of rooms. He also gave us advice on good places to eat in the area. Our room was really nice with a balcony with views of the lake. When the patio door was open it could be quite noisy from the traffic on the main road which goes past the hotel but we were aware of this before we booked. We particularly liked this hotel because it was small and the pool and garden were very nice with plenty of space to relax in. Although the hotel is about one mile outside Malcesine there is a very pleasant walk into the town along the lakeshore or you can take the tourist bus which runs every hour.We would definitely recommend this hotel. Roberto and his sister were so friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them.

You are assured of a warm friendly welcome in this spotlessly clean and comfortable hotel. Itis situated a mile out of the main town and we enjoyed a daily stroll by the lake into town but it may not suit more elderly or infirm guests. Altogether a wonderful holiday- can't wait ot go back to the Benacus!

We really enjoyed our stay at the Benacus - it matched up to all we expected and represented excellent value for money. The staff were excellent, extremely welcoming, friendly and helpful. Hotel was spotlessly clean and food was good. Location was good for us and we really enjoyed the beautiful walk into Malcesine although some may find it a little too far and the climb up the hill could be a bit much for some but for most able bodied I am sure it would not be a problem. We had been told to expect some road noise which was true - there was some but nothing which interfered with our enjoyment or satisfaction or indeed our sleep. A car is not necessary as good bus service stops just outside the hotel. Excursion buses also pick up and drop off outside the hotel. Across the road is a small supermarket and newsagent/gift shop - right near by is pharmacy and bank - everything you could possibly want. This hotel is in an excellent location and we are so glad we chose it. We would recommend it to anyone and I am sure will go there again

We found the Hotel Benacus to be exceptionally good value for money. The staff, especially Roberto on reception, were extremely friendly and helpful. The breakfast served in the restaurant had plenty of choice, in a very bright and airy dinning room. The room , whilst not overly spacious, was sufficient for my wife and I. The location of the hotel from Malcesine is a 20-30 minute walk along the side of the lake depending on the mood you are in and obviously the views along the lake are wonderful. If we were back in the area we would have no hesitation in staying here.

Benacus is indeed a very pleasant family run hotel. All of the staff we met were extremely friendly and could not do enough for us even down to trivia like ordering taxis, nothing was a problem. We dealt with Roberto the most during our stay and a more amiable guy you could not meet. We struck up a special bond with Arturo the familys' golden retriever- he really is a character who would greet us every morning with his football in his mouth, waiting to have a tug of war, or play fetch. He adds to and is indicative of the relaxed family atmosphere which exists at Hotel Benacus. The Hotel is spotless and could not be improved upon in this respect. A 2 minute walk from the hotel and you are on a public footpath on the shores of lake Garda another 8-10 minutes walk and you are in the town centre of Malcesine. This footpath is well lit and you can have absolute confidence using it even late at night and feel perfectly safe.I would recommend this hotel to anyone and most certainly intend to go back.

The hotel and staff were excellent. The pool was set in a lovely garden with views to the mountains,it was very peaceful to lounge here. The hotel was so clean, all the furniture was new, nothing was scruffy. The staff were mostly related to the owner and all were great, smiling and very helpful.Next to the hotel is a bank and small spar were we got cold water for drinking thro the night. The back of the hotel facing the mountain gets the sun in the morning and the front gets it in the evening. The views from both sides were nice, the front sees some of the lake and all the mountains behind, and the back looks right up the mountain. We sat out on the terrace for breakfast and although the hotel faces the road we didnt find that it was noisy ,we were elevated and set back. The breakfast and dinners that we did have were wonderful. We also sat out by the pool on a terrace in the evening for drinks and the occasional live music. The hotel is fortunate to be opposite a lane that takes you down right to the shore and from there you can follow it right to the most lovely little town Malcesine.I would not recommend walking to and from town on the road as there is few pavements and the cars come close and there is little lighting. The walk along the shore is a highlight of the holiday and takes 15 or 20 minutes and we had a 7 year old who did it fine. There is a dark spot even this way were a torch would be good but not essential. The beach is pebbly but there were plenty of people sunbathing and swimming, but flip flops to get in the water would have made it less painful. The hotel is ideally situated as if you were closer to the town you would end up walking along the road to the town as there are no other paths down this side of town.Malcesine castle also has live music of the classical nature in the evenings and the views from it during the day great. 40 minutes away near Garda there is Movieland and Gardaland and an aquapark too.
