Very good Hotel for a low Price. Its clean, you have a nice Pool and a bautiful View over the Lake. It´s near the Street, so you hear Cars. But the most Hotels are on this Main Street.

Casa Popi is delightful! The smell of flowers as you walk into reception is wonderful, the garden is lovely, and the pool and sunbeds really clean. Our room was fine, and the view from the balcony was superb. Breakfast was excellent (much better than a lot that I've had in Italy) - home made bread and jam, meats and cheeses, yoghurt, fruit, cereal, orange juice. Coffee is from a machine, but it's not bad! There is a bar, where you can buy drinks up to 10.30 pm, and a restaurant next door which is ok. The hotel is very close to the centre of Malcesine, or you can walk in the other direction along the lake path to a restaurant which gives you a good view of the town. Rosa, who runs the show is very friendly and makes you feel welcome. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone.

The hotel is ok. The location is good. Unfortunately, the hotel is on a busy street. You can´t open the window at night, because otherwise you can not sleep. This presents a problem because it is very hot in the rooms and there are only fans. The biggest drawback of the hotel is the owner. She is very rude .... For some guests she was nice, but to us she was rude upon arrival. (You can read it in a lots of comments) There is limited parking for too many guests. There is no soap and no hair dryer. The breakfast is ok. Next time I'll find another hotel because the owner was so unfriendly and the main road is very disturbing.

We stayed at the hotel for 4 nights and it was great value for money. Perfect location to lake and town. Lovely view from balcony of lake and good size clean rooms. Breakfast was ok, plenty to choose from, although toaster was very slow. We had a lovely stay here, our only complaint would be that our room was not ready when we arrived at 1.30 and staff was abrupt. We had to wait half an hour which felt a long time after travelling there! Staff were nice with regards of lending us bottle opener and plate when we brought some bits from the supermarket and they swapped some fizzy water with natural water for us. We had some trouble paying the deposit before we went by bank transfer as the codes given didn't match I had to sent quite a few emails sorting this out. . They don't except credit card which was a pain. When we arrived it was fine tho and I paid it all in cash. Overall I would recommend this hotel and lake gada as a holiday destination. We travelled around italy for 2 weeks and lake gada was our favourite place.

Good location within walking distance of Malcesine - a great little city if you get past the very touristed harbor. However, it is located right along a very busy road (the main road around Lago di Garda!) - so if the room description mentions something about a street, you will be able to hear it in your room. Even though the room says "Groundfloor - LAKE VIEW" you do not have lake view - the road and bushes, trees etc. are in the way. Go up a level or two if you want a lake view. The "no children under 13" rule is great if you plan to hang out at the hotel and use the pool (which we did). With no kids, it's very quiet and tranquil. No a/c - only a fan over the bed... which in our case was very old and noisy.

Malcesine is undoubtedly the most attractive town on Lake Garda, and the Casa Popi is an excellent hotel, situated only ten minutes' walk from the centre. This was our second visit, and as before the view across the lake from our balcony was stunning, the room was immaculate, the garden was carefully tended and full of flowers, and the swimming pool was refreshing and well maintained. The Casa Popi is a family-run hotel, and all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was plentiful and tasty - fresh orange juice, and they even bake their own bread. We had to leave very early on the final morning, and the night before one of the sisters who runs the Casa Popi brought us a breakfast tray complete with vacuum flask full of coffee. I can't imagine why the hotel only has one star. Not having a lift is hardly a problem, and the lack of air conditioning is offset by provision of an enormous ceiling fan, which does the job perfectly. The Casa Popi is great to stay in, excellent value, and I can't recommend it highly enough.

Casa popi deserves more than one star! We had a great stay here. The view from our balcony was amazing, breakfast was fantastic and the atmosphere of the place was lovely. The only thing negative was that my husband found it difficult to sleep without aircon, although this was during the 40degree heatwave and the ceiling fan was adequate for me! We would highly recommend casa popi and would love to return!

It is always a pleasure to return to the Casa Popi. Confortable rooms, lovely garden and swimming pool and the Family Lombardi are the best of hosts If I had one criticism, it's the toaster, it must be the slowest in Italy, please please change it!

The member of staff that checked us in was very welcoming. the only other member of staff apart from the cleaner was a bit distance. The member of staff that checked us in was the same person who advised us on our trip to Venice she was very helpful. We could not fault the hotel, we do not know how it does not have a higher rating. The garden is well cared for and a delight to spend time in. Our only critisisum is the breakfast, we know that it was advertised as a continental breakfast but it was very repedative, we will not be having cheese and ham for a long time. I stayed there last year when my son got married in the castle, I would stay there again, but please change the breakfast menu some days.

The piazza is 7 or 8 minutes casual walk, for shops, eating, bars, lakeside walks and boat trips, a most enjoyable break.

Considering it was the cheapest(ish!)in the town, my brother and I thought it was exceptional value. Others we spoke to in the hotel seemed to be of a similar opinion. We also believe that the people of the town know how to look after their visitors and make them feel welcome. We were there for a family wedding, but our respective partners were unable to be with us. The whole of our time spent there was wonderful. I would like to take my wife and daughter there to show them how smashing it is!

We had an excellent stay, cannot understand why it only has a 1 star rating. The view from our room was amazing, top floor overlooking the lake. Yes Casa Popi is on a busy road but the noise did not disturb us during the night, and to be honest the amazing cars, motorbikes, pedal road racers we saw were an added bonus. Casa Popi is literally 5 minutes walk from the centre of Malcesine which can be taken either along the lake promenade or along the main road.Overall a clean, small, family run hotel, we were made to feel very welcome and would return. We highly recommend this Hotel for people to stay!

We came to lake garda for a friends wedding and decided to stay for a week. As i knew it would be an expensive trip we opted for Casa Popi as it was the cheapest place we could find with a pool. As quite a fussy person i was very impressed and cant believe that it was only a 1 star. it was extremely clean inside and out and was no less then what was required for our stay. the staff were pleasant and helpful and left you to it unless you needed anything, which was great. We had a lakeside/balcony room which i would recommend as the view was fantastic and although there was the roadside beneath we experienced no traffic noise. there is no air con but the ceiling fan was all that was needed. there was reasonable variety for breakfast and a constant supply no matter waht time you went down. Casa Popi contributed to lake Gard being my favorite holiday so far!!!!!

Extremely friendly welcoming and well-run small family hotel, the sisters really go out of their way for you and it seems crazy that it only has 1 star; lovely swimming pool in garden, mountain and lake views. English and German spoken. Traffic a bit noisy at front but not with windows shut. We hope very much to return. Malcesine is probably the nicest small town on the lake, medieval pedestrian area full of reasonable restaurants (pizza/pasta from 6 euros) and the cable car up Mt.Baldo HAS to be done!

Slow to refill some items at the buffet breakfast. Glad we chose a room at the back overlooking the garden rather than at the front which despite having a lovely view of the lake, had a very busy road between it and the hotel. Walk into town along that road was short but there is no actual pavement and the road is sometimes difficult to cross, so it's good that the hotel does not accommodate young children.

We decided to spend 3 nights in Malcesine before moving onto Garda, Salon, Limone and finally Torbole. We love walking so these areas were chosen for specific walks I had found. The hotel is set on a road approximately a 10 minute walk along the road from the centre of Malcesine. Hotel not ideal if you are in a wheelchair as there are only stairs into the property and to the rooms. However this hotel is fantastic considering it is only a one star, WITH a swimming pool!!! We had a room overlooking the garden which was lovely and quite and a pleasant view. Our hostess was very friendly and spoke good English. Breakfast was good too. Would definately stay here again when we go to Malcesine again. :o)

Fantatsic little hotel and was very surprised it was only a 1 star (really should of been a 3 star). Whilst reasonably simple, the rooms were very clean, comfortable and spacious (espcially the rooms on the upper floor) and with the view over the garden & pool area, was very peaceful and relaxing. Pool area was really good and sits in a very well kept garden, with a great Mediterranean feel. Very tranquil. Breakfast was good and plentiful (the usual Italian/German selection of coffees, meats, cheeses, fruit, pastries & breads) so well worth trying out. The staff were very helpful & friendly. Would have no hesitation in recommending the Casa Popi. Great value for money.

This was our first time in Malcesine so I studied the impressions of other visitors before booking. Our room was very spacious and nice and scrupulously clean as was the bathroom. The breakfast was good for the price. (Boiled eggs, cheese, cereals - 3 types, yoghurt, three different flavours of bread, three different kinds of salami/ham and fruit - admittedly mostly tinned but luckly I like prunes and peaches, plus fresh cherries and as much coffee as you could drink. I would have preferred more vegetables but everything else was very nice considering the price). I was also surprised that at the price we were paying there was a TV in the room and a very small safe - free of charge. The pool and the garden are both lovely and we would definitely go there again. Unlike another writer, we did not feel we were there on sufferance although the family were not hands-on with their guests, but that was fine with us. Having stayed in a place where the owners waylaid us every time we entered, personally I prefer this approach. I can't recommend Casa Popi to single travellers as they don't do a single room rate as my sister wanted to stay there but it was too expensive for her alone.

I would have no hesitation recommending Casa Popi to anyone else as long as I am able to still get a room to go back. The family who run the hotel were wonderful, friendly and helpful. The location is beautiful and although situated on a road the traffic at night is not too bad. I am a light sleeper and it never woke me up. The road does get busy during the day but you will be too busy exploring or soaking up the sun by the side of the pool to notice. Wonderful place and I can't wait to get back there.

If there was a competition to find the best value-for-money hotel in Malcesine, the Casa Popi would be hard to beat. The rooms were spotless, the staff very friendly and welcoming, and the whole atmosphere was extremely relaxed. We felt at ease as soon as we walked in. Any niggles? Well, just a couple. We had a bit of trouble finding the hotel at first, but that's a criticism of the staff at the Tourist Information office who didn't seem to know where it was! The hotel's on a noisy main road so perhaps parents of young children may be wary of booking, and it means getting a quieter room at the rear is essential. But if you're on a tight budget, this place is highly recommended. (Oh, and the pool is brilliant, especially as temperatures touched 40C while we were there)

This hotel is quite nice and clean with a well-kept garden and pool. The breakfast was reasonably good for the price paid and the rooms were clean. The views from the hotel are simply breathtaking. However, it would have been good to have an AirConditioner. The main inconveniences were that the hotel is about 400 metres away from the nearest bus stop, which can be a problem if you're carrying luggages. Also, there is no lift. We were a little apprenhensive about booking such a low star but we were pleasantly surprised. It is very basic but it is clean, the staff are friendly and the breakfast was not amazing but it was good enough to get your day started. It's great for short stays or longer holidays where you are out and about. If you are looking for a holiday where you spend it in a hotel this hotel is probably not for you as the facilities probably won't meet your needs. All in all I thought it was great value and would return. If you are not sure about booking this hotel I would advise you to book it! A good hotel, maybe not so close to the city centre as anticipated but only five minutes in. No real issues but no great pavement to walk along. Really friendly, welcoming staff - this 'pension' deserves more than its one star. Yes - there is an issue with noise - as the hotel faces the busy road around Lake Gardo - inevitable. Very clean and well presented, perfect size for coming back to and balcony is nice to watch the lake from. Parking is tight, albeit free. Breakfast was good with varied buffet. Casa Popi was excellent! We chose a room with garden view after reading reviews about road noise and were glad we did. Most noise stops during the dead of night but starts early. The location could not be better, just a short walk to the charming town of Malcesine and the Gondola ride to the top of the mountain. The owner was very friendly and we thought the breakfast was very good...several HOMEMADE breads, cereals, yogurts, cheese, ham, sweets, juice and a variety of coffees. We couldn't believe how much we got for our money, really large room, swimming pool, large breakfast and right by the lake. The staff were friendly and helpful but the maps we found were misleading.

With the one exception of its closeness to a very busy and noisy main road (which didn't worry us) this was simply amazing just like everyone else said. Superb, modern and comfortable accommodation (air conditioning, excellent bedroom and bathroom, lovely restaurant), wonderful pool in lovely garden setting, outstanding breakfast and friendly, competent staff. The views from the front facing bedrooms are just extraordinary. In our estimation this should be a ***** rating!

Unbedingt zu empfehlen für Lärmunempfindliche, Frühstück könnte kreativer sein aber wir hatten einen rundum gelungenen Aufenthalt.

Couldn't believe this was a one star hotel - far better than most 3 stars that I have stayed in! I would highly recomend this hotel!

Very clean, very kind people, the rooms on the street side are a bit loud if the window is open, but with a BEAUTIFUL view to Lago Di Garda. They are baking every day bread(!!) and it tastes really good. Malcesine is also a nice village, we were very pleased.

A room facing the pool/back garden is a must, as the hotel is on a busy and noisy main road. Directions to the hotel, if taking public transportation, should include the lake-side walk from the town of Malcesine RATHER than walking on the shoulder of this heavily-traffiked main road. Rosa and her sister were very nice and the breakfasts were incredible with a wide variety of food. My niece and I stayed there for six nights. THANKS!

Of all of the hotels that we used in Italy, this was our favorite! Everything was immaculate. The pool was particularly inviting. We stayed on the pool side of the hotel and I would highly recommend it. The other side is on a busy street. The location was just a short walk from town - one we enjoyed as you could walk along the lake promenade. Our only complaint was that the first night (which was our first night in Europe after a long flight and long drive), there were some guests and one of the owners talking quite loudly in the lounge just down the stairs from our room which kept us awake until 11 pm. Probably not a problem for most, but we were very tired from a long day

The hotel is beyond it's 1 Star rating. We had a brilliant stay. The home made bread at breakfast was delicous. The pool and garden was a nice place to relax after a day exploring the local area. We were glad to have booked a garden view room, as it faced away from the road, and the traffic noise. Being able to park the car in the garage was a bonous too. We would definatly book here again.

The accomodation wasimple and clean, the bed was confortable, the breakfast was good and in pleasant surroundings, the garden was quiet and the pool clean, room with independent entrance, a magnificent view, easy walking distance from village, port, shops and funicolare. A very good quality/price correspondence. Food and hospitality in the village both very good.

Excellent Hotel - Great location only 2 mins from the centre of Malcesine. Very friendly and helpful owners/staff. Travellers perhaps need to know that they do not accept Credit Cards in payment for the rooms.

For this price, Casa Popi must be one of the best value hotels at the Italin lakes - so much better than other hotels we stayed at in this price range. Clean and airy rooms. Great views across the lake from upstairs rooms (worth paying a few euros more). Malcesine was also one of our favourite towns on the lakes. Very picturesque, good food, good shopping, great cable car ride.

Excellant one star hotel. Our room was the equivalent to an apartment, extremely clean everywhere, only concern was its location to the main road. Breakfast was delightful, homemade bread every morning
