Hotel Sur - Málaga

Beautiful hotel, was greeted by name. Exceptionally friendly staff, incredible indoor parking. Location is a bit of an adventure due to narrow alleys but close to a beautiful pedestrian promenade near parks and shopping.

It is a very nice hotel in an excellent location. I have stayed there twice and would consider coming back. Can be a bit loud at night when guests come back to their rooms. There is no restaurant but there are plenty on the doorstep so it is not an issue.

Excellent location - you can reach it directly by public bus from the airport (A; station alameda av./c. Cordoba, then two minutes walking to the corner c. Cordoba/Trinidad Grund) - all kinds of meal possibilities around the hotel - all the sights reachable by a short walk

I have often stayed in the Hotel Sur as it is in a perfect location, the staff are always friendly. It would be perfect if clients had more consideration, I can never understand why people talk so loudly in hotel rooms or corridors in the middle of the night. Do they not realise that there are always people trying to sleep due to early morning or late night travel arrangements. Make sure you pack ear plugs! Malaga is a lovely city and the Hotel Sur is a lovely hotel.

Hotel sur was very well maintained and completely renovated. rooms were perfectly clean. and it was in the heart of Malaga close to all attractions and bus stations. I recommend it strongly.

Excellent hotel in the middle of Malaga with short walks both to the historical area, shopping streets and the beach. Perfect location and I will very much recommend this hotel to other travellers.

Very good value for money close to everything small room but ok for a few nlghts

Excellent location VERY close to centre and public airport bus. Very friendly and efficient but the walls are thin and the bathroom cleanliness wasn't. 100 %. Still excellent value. David

For a 2 star hotel I had an excellent stay; very clean, 200m from the center of Malaga and the harbour!! I can absolutely recommend this hotel!

Great location - 5 minutes walking from the old city center, 15 minutes walking from the beach Malagueta. Nice place to stay, friendly stuff, quiet rooms :)

Idealer Ausgangspunkt, um diese schöne Stadt zu erkunden. Direkte Busverbindung vom Flughafen zum Hotel (€ 1,10). Rundherum jede Menge günstiger Frühstücksmöglichkeiten.

15 minute walk from bus station. Close to main city area of Malaga, not on main street but within two or three blocks of main tourist areas. Enjoyed our stay.

My husband and I went to Malaga for a week and thought the area was beautiful! The Sur was right downtown and very close to bus stops, the bus and train terminals and the beach. One of the desk clerks recommended a restaurant on the beach about 4 miles from town on bus 11 that was a blast. Waiters auctioned off entrees!

I have stayed in Hotel Sur on previous occastions as it is a perfect central location, sometimes rooms can be noisy, this time I was in a corner room on the first floor which was much better as it was not adjoining any other room. Staff are always friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel for a short stay in the city, rooms would be too small for a long stay.

Lane hotel situated on wider than some web comments sugggest.Good hotel just no public areas.

Good place to stay for e.g. a weekend trip since the old town / shopping area is just around the corner.

Hotel piccolo ma confortevole, un buon punto di partenza per visitare il centro di malaga, sebbene i dintorni dell'albergo non siano dei migliori (nessun rischio, solo poco belli, ma malaga nel complesso ha unc entro storico dismesso). Il personale però è gentile e disponibile. Le camere son pulite anche se non enormi.

Basic but spotless hotel located in very convenient location. Secure carparking onsite (E12.50 per day) was excellent and much less expensive than commercial carparks nearby. Would stay here again.

We have stayed a week in Malaga and hotel Sur was a very good choice. Close to the city centre, close to the beach and Jardin was the perfect location. The room was big and cleaned every day. Staff so nice and helpful, we could not ask for more. No restaurant in the hotel, but plenty cafes for breakfast very nerby - every day you can try different cafes and menus. Overall - we have had fantastic holidays!

I enjoyed a short stay in Malaga, only one day during my tour across Andalucia but it was a pleasure both for the service offered by the hotel and for the beauty of the city.

Very friendly English speaking personals. Rooms (we had two different rooms) are clean but a bit dark. Walls quite thin. No hairdryer provided. Excellent location.

Very useful location, midway between city centre and bus/rail stations. Plain, but clean hotel, some rooms look out on an airshaft but others have a window on a street. Pretty quiet. Service is polite, not very chatty. If you are looking for a plain hotel, basically just to spent an hour in before going to bed and to sleep, its perfect.

I came twice in this hotel which is well located in Malaga Centre. As I was alone, the first time I got a double bed room and the second time a twin beds room, both spacious and very clean. Really a place to recommend.

I was very surprised at the poor quality of this place as it had received some good reviews on the website. I thought the 2 single beds in our room looked smaller than standard singles. They were also fixed to the wall so you could not push them together (NB in Spain a double can mean a twin- you must request marital bed if you want a double bed). The mattresses were comfortable enough, but I would certainly steer clear of this place if you are heavy or tall. The room was ugly and spartan and there was no breakfast available on the premises. The rooms were noisy and my boyfriend was woken a few times in the night by people coming back to their rooms.

The hotel is clean and quite near to city centre. The hotel is too expensive if compared with accomodation and services provided.

Good location for visiting the city but it was on a main road so quite noisy. City centre hotels tend to appear a bit seedy and this was no exception. Nevertheless, the rooms were clean &, given the price & location, we'd stay here again.

Rally grate place! Very clean and well furnished rooms. I recommend it to everybody! Close to the buses, shops and restaurants.

All was wonderful but for the fact that there was no indication that I could not check out early: I found a way out of the hotel; but had to leave considerably more than I owed:

Very small room but ok for one night. Garage right in the hotel and quite easy to access to. Short walk to beautiful old center.

The room smelled of cigarette which was terrible. On the website there was no possibility to request a non smoking room (although I am not sure this is an option at the hotel). The rest was fine but this is a big negative point.

Good hotel in a central location without being too noisy. The city center is in walking distance.

Very good small hotel close to everything in Malaga. Ideal as a home base for exploring the city on foot. When we were there (March) it was quiet, clean, and convenient. I recommend it highly.

At so low price, I expected a noisy, dirty, crampy backpacker hotel full of drunken youths. I got a spacy, clean, reacently renovatet room, far above expectations for a two star hotel. Bathroom was excellent, only thing I missed was a minibar, but you can't expect everything at such prices. Placed in the city centre, close to everything. I recommend this hotel!

For certain rooms one should not be clostrophobe.

Very well located in downtown Malaga Accomodation is clean and correct (no restaurant in the hotel) but the area is full of cafés and restaurants to have breakfats in the morning.

A basic hotel at a fair price. No restraunt or bar but plenty of bars and cafes within a few hundred metres. Local and very convenient for the city centre and most of the attractions such as the Catedral, Gilbrafaro Castillo and Alcazaba

My room was perfectly adequate as an overnight rest stop after a long flight from western Canada, before continuing by bus to meet my wife in Algeciras. For a longer stay I prefer more space and amenities.

A basic hotel in a quiet street near railway station. Very central to main shopping and port areas. Room and bathroom clean and reception staff very helpful with recommendations and directions.

Excelllent with regards to central station, only 5 minutes walk. easy peasy! Night porter was very helpful in directing me to where I wanted to go. Will definately go there again.

Quiet. Very close to taxistand. Close to nightlife areas. A/C down, possibly centrally shut down, no need when we were there late Oct.

Hotel Sur is absolutely the most horrible hotel we stayed during our trip in Spain. First of all, the receptionist was not welcoming, the facility was too outdated. The bathroom offers very limited shower space that you could not even bend your body!!! And the hair left in the sink made us almost cry... We checked in at night and immediately ran back to the street finding another hotel, real 4 star facility/service and just 8euros more! As we are familiar with the city and speak fluent Spanish, guarantee it's nothing about culture shock... Just bad luck to have picked it from the list!

I would advise you to book your clients in Hotel Astoria. The location of this Hotel is OK, but no views whatsoever, no breakfast, just bed.Astoria has view,wonderful breakfast included in the room price, better rooms-all for 80 Euros. I'll take Astoria any time !

Des va et vient etranges toute la nuit dans le couloir, quelqu'un a frappé à la porte à 5 heure du matin. Pas de fenetres, livrets des temoins de jehova dans l entree.

Clean + tidy hotel in "old Malaga city". Freshly renovated. Few minutes away from bus stations; all remarkable buildings can be reached in good walking distance; beach is a little bit far away (3 stations by bus). I would strongly recommend the "SUR" and would be pleased to have the possibility to stay there again.

Hotel OK. In a pedestrian street with underground parking about 250 yards away. Cathedral and cafe's within about 10mins walk

La camera era particolarmente rumorosa perchè dava su un cortile interno dove ci sono circa una ventina di condizionatori accesi. La colazione ed il parcheggio non sono compresi nel prezzo.

A great location , near the center. Basic hotel. Easy to reach from the airport by public transport.

Very good deal - minutes away from the main historical old section of Málaga. Short walking distance from all the mightlife, and charming old streets. The alley/street directly in front of the hotel might appear rowdy at times - it´s not. No problem. Rooms are comfortable and spacious. One small problem at "peak hours" the water pressure may be low. Only happened once.

We stayed for one night only. Basically is a good hotel; unfortunately the map is not useful to reach it. We do not have breakfast in the hotel. We reccomend it.

Neighbourhood a bit dodgy but otherwise a good location. no proper window, no breakfast. clean rooms though.

A decent hotel in a good location. There is a dodgy bar on the same street, but that shouldn't worry you. Staff are competent and mostly speak some English. No views from the windows but rooms are clean and not too poky.

The hotel sur was exactly what i was looking for, it was extremely close to the train station and a bus trip from the airport- an excellent place to stay for a short trip to malaga.

Excellent price/quality ratio. Clean room, location not far from the center of Malaga. Everything can be easily reached by walking.

Location good for stay in downtown Malaga and will undoubtedly benefit from refurbishment of street outside. Need to keep closer eye on people who hang around in reception, not difficult as very small, as our friend had his pocket picked on arrival at his room having been followed there by character lurking in reception who was actually filmed on their CCTV.

Our room was quite spacious and the location was ideal, close to the beach, the park, the main street with all the main bus routes and the pedestrian street. However the 2 windows did not provide much light as they were facing a ventilation shaft. The sheets were changed only after we asked that it be done on a daily basis. The actual street was more or less an alley in which we did not feel very safe especially at night because we were 2 women travelling on our own.

Except for the neirborough the hotel show an excellent relation between price and service.

Great place to stop on the way to Morocco...room was sparse, but clean. Front-desk staff was very helpful.

Typical budget business hotel with no facilities. Only one street away from the city centre but on the opposite side from all the shops/restaurants and in a run down area in need of refurbishment

The room satisfyed the price. The staff understood english suffishent for my need. The only thing is that the dresser in the room was so big, that the room seemed smaller than it could have appeard.

Located just around the corner of the main shopping street of Malaga. Nice and friedly stuff, very clean rooms.

I found this hotel appalling ,electricity sockets falling of wall.hard beds,curtains falling down rotten plaster ,up some horrible alley ,where on our first night a fight broke out . moved out fast to a nice hostel in figgarola sur needs to spend some money on the property overpriced ,never again

Excellent position. What was initially not evident is that there is a train station about 200yds from the station which is connected to the Airport. Bedroom rather dingy with dated furnishings, decor,linen etc. Staff attitude ranged from v.good to merely answering a question.

Our first visit to Malaga, we were pleasantly suprised by the location in proximity to the centre, and also the quality of the hotel. We have stayed in many hotels of similar 'quality' (2 or 3 star) and this was one of the best. Good value for money.

There is a parking, but the price is not mentioned in advance, and euro 11,50 per night is a high price for one night.

Hotel well located in town center, easy to find with instructions, parking ( paying ) in hotel; room dark and unconvenient ( desk without light) but clean. Should recommend for a short overnight stay.

I was very pleased with our room and the hospitality of the staff. They were very gracious.
