This hotel is excellent and has lots of historic charm. Everything was good, but the hotel breakfest was one of the the best we have ever had. The hotel is also on the edge of the wonderful Retiro park. Do stay here if you like classic luxury hotels.

This is a nice hotel with a beautiful lobby and sitting areas. The rooms were clean and quite basic however. The male staff in particular were cold and rude upon our arrival and coming and going from the hotel. Help upon request was minimal. We took all our meals elsewhere and spent minimal time here consequently. Due to rain, we did have drinks in the covered courtyard one evening, and found the service and ambiance quite lovely. We did not use the pool but others seemed to be enjoying time there. Of the nine places we stayed on our extended vacation, this is the only one we would not stay at again, but only due to not feeling welcome.

An excellent hotel. Luxurious, clean bedrooms with everything we needed and more. Comfortable, stunning public areas, particularly the entrance hall and bar areas. The pool area was nice - although we did think it closed a little early and was freezing cold, even in August!! The doormen were brilliant - really helpful and polite. This hotel was an absolute gem in this stunning city. Our stay was fabulous and one we hope to repeat.

By trainFrom Atocha RENFE train station, take the L1 line towards Plaza Castilla. Get off at Sol stop and then transfer to L2 towards La Elipa. Get of at Retiro, located within walking distance from the hotel.
From Chamartín train station, take the L10 (dark blue line) towards Puerta del Sur and get off at Alonso Martínez stop. Then take the L4 (brown line) towards Parque Santa María and get off at Velázquez, which is within walking distance from the hotel.
By airplane
