Hotel Room Mate Alicia - Madrid

Great location. We could walk to most of the major sights in 15 mins. The hotel opens onto a lovely square which was great. We could sit out at night with a few beers. The hotel staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you. They answered all our questions, gave us directions and were generally very helpful and friendly. There are few facilities in the hotel as it has no bar, lounge ,restaurant or public meeting/sitting areas inside or out. A coffee machine in the room would have been a great asset.

The room was not as clean as I would have expected for the price,(the carpet was stained) but the location was great! It was near a great plaza with good restaurants and easy walking to many historic locations and shopping. We appreciated the pitchers of cold water with fresh lemon and orange slices (it was very hot during our stay in Madrid). I would recommend the hotel for the location and I do not have any other hotels in Madrid to compare the price to quality to. We did have a good time while staying at the Room Mate Alicia. The breakfast was a good price and very good, there was a great selection of breads, rolls, cheeses, fruit, cereal, yogurt.

Staff very helpful , friendly and supportive. Location and design excellent. Hotel rooms are better than the pictures suggest. Tasty, adequate breakfast with much choice.

Very friendly staff. Excellent location in a fantastic area on a nicely renovated square with charming restaurants and bars. Good breakfast buffet. Nice bar. Great place to stay in the heart of Madrid. You can walk to all places of interest. Would go there again for my next stay

Staying at Room Mate Alicia was a pleasant experience. Great for a sole traveller. So convenient to the Prado and Peutrto del Sol. Free wifi was great.

Hotel in fantastic location on Santa Ana square right in the centre on Madrid. Staff very helpful and friendly, guest's best interest in mind, ie, locked front door with buzzer for security, 24 hour reception, advice & info, good value breakfast, clean & quiet room. Should note bathroom & toilet in standard room open up into room, good way to get to know your travel companion!

Excellent location for tapas bars, restaurants, nightlife. Directions on Venere website are confusing to say the least. I took Metro underground to Seville station. Walked about 3 blocks (cuadros) down Pincipe through Plaza Santa Ana to Calle del Prado. Alicia is located on corner of Plaza Santa Ana. Simple enough.

We arrived late morning and were delighted to find our room ready which enabled us to use the maximum time for sightseeing that day. Reception was welcoming, friendly and helpful. The hotel is well situated for tourist attractions and transport and easy walking to many points in inner Madrid. The room was clean and very acceptable. The hotel offers a good buffet breakfast included in the price which we enjoyed. The hotel is adjacent to the lovely Plaza Santa Ana with its many restaurants and cafes so eating at night was convenient with many options.

My first time in Madrid and this hotel was perfect in every way for a budget traveller, better than expected. Location on SantAnna square is unbelievable: a lot of action at your doorstep + you are half way between Mayor and the museums. The room was modern and clean, no less amazing than the photos online, which was surprising because of the low price. Staff was decent and there was wifi throughout. Breakfast was also very good. Overall I have no complaints and would recommend.

We stayed in Madrid for 4 days and found the hotel to be in a good location and it was great that breakfast was included in our room rate. Our welcome and orientation to the hotel and city was not what we had experienced in other cities- we were thrown a map and had to fend for ourselves. The room was nice, updated and quiet- however for such a spectacular building located in front of a piazza, our room faced a brick wall! Overall, location and price were acceptable.

Beautyful Hotel with excellent design and modern art. Surrounding very nice and attractive, many bars and restaurants, however, due to this quite noisy during nighttime if you open the soundproof windows. Very central to sights and shopping areas, some antique shops.

came with my husband for our honeymoon- we both enjoyed our stay in this quiet, beautifully designed hotel. staff was very friendly and helpful.

I enjoyed my stay at Hotel Room Mate Alicia. It was in a great location, the room was clean, and the staff were very helpful. My only complaints were the room was very hot, the heat was still on in the room despite the weather being quite warm and the air conditioner hadn't been turned on yet. The refrigerator in my room was also not working, so I was unable to use the mini bar or keep any beverages cold. Despite these minor complaints I would recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

Hotel Room Mate Alicia exceeded my husband's and my expectations tho' it had already received rave reviews from other Venere subscribers. Although it is done in the minimalist fashion, our room was huge by European standards with a kingsize bed, very smartly decorated, containing everything anyone could need. The only thing missing is internet access which apparently they hope to receive in the next few months. It is situated right on the corner of Plaza Santa Ana, a lovely plaza bordered by outdoor cafes, which provides the perfect ambiance for Happy Hour. Nevertheless, with its automated shutters and blinds, the room is completely quiet whenever you want it to be. I would certainly re-book this hotel whenever I return to Madrid.
