Hotel was a little further than I realized.Although we walked from Plaza Mayor back to the hotel many times. The staff was very pleasant and accomodating. There is a cafeteria attached to the hotel which made it nice to grab a pastry and coffee before going out.Right across the street from the metro which was great. The rooms could stand to be remodeled. Very 1970's.Staff arranged transportation to the airport which was nice as the metro does not start running until 0600.Would prefer a hotel closer to the sights.

This was not my first visit to Hotel Puerta de Toledo. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Taxis, city busses, and metro are all available in front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet is generous by European standards. I will return.

The hotel is good, but it is located far away from the centrum. There is no shops in the surroundings. You need to take the bus or metro to go to downtown.

Though I told the reception desk at the first evening that I needed the internet access, I couldn't do my business job during the whole stay, though it was promised to me every day. My impression was that the hotel didn't make a big effort in having the access repared because they thought it wasn't necessary for tourists. I room was extremly loud, the lift made a terrific bam- noise when the door closed and you could hear returning guests through the whole third floor.

Very frindly welcome at the reception. The hotel is at a safe location and right next to a bus stop. It is a ten minute walk from the Royal Palace. To go to the Prado, it took a 10 minute bus ride and a 10 minute walk. We could easily walk back to hotel at night from Huerta or similar locations. To get to the hotel, we took a taxi from the airport and it cost a little above €30.The room and the bathroom were clean and comfortable. The buffet breakfast offered cheese, ham, eggs and fruit and was fairly satisfying. The hotel fulfilled our expectations in providing the basics (location, cleanliness, comfort, and breakfast). Overall, this is a good value for money hotel.

Excellent accomadation for the price. Only bad comment would be the hardness of the pillow and only one was provided. Also would have liked tea making facility in the room. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

This is the second time I have used venere.com and the choice of hotel suited my requirements. It was located near a metro station which made it easy to get from and to the airport as well as travelling around Madrid itself. The staff were very friendly, polite and helpful. The breakfast room did get a little overcrowded at times and it was sometime difficult to find a table to sit at.

we stayed in Madrid one week. The hotel is well situated. Metro station is just front of the hotel but if you like walking, you will get to Plaza Major in about 10 minutes. This means that it is not in the centre but very very close to it. Very good breakfast. As we arrived on the 1st of January, it has been a very good way to start with the new year!

Puerta de Toledo is the perfect solution for a single traveller to visit Madrid by metro, walk and train! It is situated 200m from the metro station and less than 1km from the palacio real! Ultrareccomended if you want a cheap and quiet solution to discover Madrid in 5 or 6 days!!!

Avoid at all costs! Hotel accepts bookings from large groups of students ! Management non-receptive to any complaints about noise and bad behaviour in corridors and adjacent rooms! Noise did not die down until 04.30 hrs .Double glazed windows on 6th floor but still heard everything happening in street.Decided to have breakfast elsewhere as we could not bear to stay in hotel another minute. Also 14 euros to park car in garage per night! Avoid !!

Very good hotel. Good location, close to the metro. Within walking distance to Plaza Mayor and other attractions in Madrid. Clean rooms with enough space. Nice decoration. A very good hotel in general. The staff is a little stiff, but they are helpful. Very good price for what they offer. I would certainly return here.

As with most accommodation in Madrid, space is at a premium and the room was quite small. The view out the window was a drab courtyard. The rooms were clean and reasonably presented. The location´s very good, right next to the Puerta de Toledo station. A word of warning - if catching a train from Chamartin Station, allow 50 mins to get there from the hotel! Overall a well positioned and friendly and good value hotel.

the hotel is very well located and service excellent. BUT my room's window was on the "inside" court of the hotel so I could hear anybody talking. Beside, I HAD to let my window open all the time because it was reallly hot in my room and the air conditioning only starts in May. As a result, I almost did not sleep at all during the 2 nights.

Convenient hotel because it is right on the subway line - for an authentic tapa experience, try the bar right across the street Be sure to know the basics in spanish of how to ask for tapas in bars instead of raciones - if you order tapas, which are smaller portions, you can sample different types of spanish food Don't go to bars close to the Calle Mayor, as they are touristy and expensive - for an authentic experience, try to find one off the beaten path by going down side streets. I don't quite remember, but I think a good place to find authentic tapas bars was the Alonso Martinez stop on the subway line. There you will find places where they also give you "pinchos" with the beer you order - these are sample-sized portions of the tapas. Very fun!

Our reservation was for a double and we received 2 single beds apart. Other than that, it was a decent hotel to stay. The hike to Plaza Mayor was all up hill and a little of a distance, but we were right near the metro which was very convenient.
