Preciados is a very nice a quiet hotel; nothing fancy, but had everything I needed. The only disappointment was no view from my window onto the street; my room was facing the inner courtyard which was quite unexpected and sad. I was explained that all single rooms have windows into the courtyard and there is nothing they could do to change my room since all the rooms were booked. I came in the evening and was too tired to change hotels and after I unpacked moving to another hotel was too much for me, but I wish I could. The hotel should give the description of the single room in details and warn people they will not see the day light in this room at all. I will only stay in this hotel again if I can get a different room for the price I paid.

I only stayed one night and While my overall stay was excellent, my room was unfortunately next to the cleaning cart or storage room so there was some noise. Since I was travelling by myself, I decided to take my dinner at the hotel restaurant and unfortunately they couldn't serve me the dish that was meant for a minimum of 2 persons. I thought they would make an exception but they didn't.

Very clean, comfortable hotel in pedestrianised area, close to restaurants and tapas bars. Staff were lovely and knowledgable, and the hotel restaurant provided an extensive buffet breakfast. We had a drink outside before dinner, and a coffee afterwards, and although we were only there for four nights, the staff remembered us each time and were very welcoming. I could not recommend this hotel more highly.

This hotel is nice, but if you are booking the single roome, just be aware it is VERY small. There was no room to store my luggage (there actually was enough room if I put it standing, but I was there for a short time so I did not feel to unpack everything so I just wanted to lay it down and pick whatever I need when needed...) but just in front of the door so I had to step over it every time I wanted to go from the bathroom to the room. Apart from that, the room had no window on the outside, just one giving in the inside. It may disturb some people, so just ask for a window if you want one. I did not think it was bad though because when you closed it, it was completely dark in the room, which allowed to sleep very well. It was welcomed after a long day of plane. Finally, the staff is very friendly. I had to attend a special event the night before I left and I got back to the hotel at 7 in the morning. The guy that was there told me I could check out later than usually allowed without any probem. That was greatly appreciated. Overall, I do recommend this hotel, but just be aware that rooms are very small (single rooms). Europeans hotel usually have small rooms, but that was VERY small.

Wonderful location. great shopping and walking streets nearby. Lovely, quite room on a street with only foot traffic. Terrifc restauarant for tapas and drinks in the early evening...shaded outdoor tables with mist drifting down The staff provided maps and directions to every sight and made dinner reservations for us as well.

Hotel is clean and pleasant to stay in, staff helpful when approached however cost of accomodation excessive for a 4 star hotel - was similar to 5 star accomodation costs used within the same holiday. Restaurant service was poor, arrogant and brusk, menu was basic but overpriced. Impossible to find anything for a vegetarian.

Great hotel, well located in Madrid city centre. Has everything I like in a hotel, fantastic comfortable bed with good linen and pillows, modern bathroom with nice shower and towels, quick free Wi-Fi, nice breakfast selection, general air of quality and cleanliness and very pleasant and helpful staff. The free refreshments in the room fridge is a wonderful gesture and one that all hotels should adopt. I will definitely be staying again when in Madrid and have no hesitation in recommending this hotel when on business or leisure.

Superb location. rarely even had to take the Metro (there is 1 very close - 2min walk) to see the main sights. best air conditioning we've ever had in a hotel in Europe which was important because it was 42 deg C! didn't eat in the hotel. had coffee, juice & pastry at one of the nearby bars, including the Valor churro y chocolate parlor around the corner.

Good location, nice hotel. Matches the other reviewers comments. Location is very near the Metro, and within walking distance of all downtown sites. However note that Google maps does not show the specific hotel location, but just points to the street (not a fault of the hotel, just limits to Google maps)

The one weird thing that needs to be noticed is that Calle de Preciados itself is a street of two parts and the hotel is in the non-obvious part which caused mild disorientation. Otherwise it was excellent in all respects.

As a well traveled ex-pat American, I would highly recommend this hotel to the discerning traveler. The Preciados Hotel is small, six floors with about 60 rooms. The purpose of my travel was liesure and spent some time reviewing locations and hotels within the city centre of Madrid. The Venere website had the best reviews for each hotel and I selected the Preciados due to the comments from other guests. The hotel is in the city centre but in a quiet location. The rooms are not large, but well appointed with dark wood floors and very comfortable beds, good linens, double glazed windows and shutters. If you are seeking a good hotel, good location, small but comfortable, then book this hotel. I would definitely recommend this hotel to others.

The location of the hotel is excellent. Unfortunately at the end of October there was still a lot of construction work going on in Calle Preciados. But as they are in the final stages the disturbance by the loud noise should soon be over. All in all the hotel is very nice and as a special plus I am rating the Radio (hidden in the wall above the bed) with loudspeakers also in the bathroom where you can tune in to the best Radio Stations in Spain (especialls Maxima FM) while taking a shower!!!

I have stayed at several hotels in Madrid and I can honestly say that the Preciados was heads and shoulders above the rest. I felt that the rooms were exactly as represented...nice size, clean, modern, well appotinted and VERY reasonably priced. The staff was fantastic! I had some travel problems and ended up having to arrive 2 days later than my original arrival date and was easily and graciously accomodated by the staff. There was no issue or extra charge for missing my earlier arrival. The staff was very friendly and helpful on all accounts. The location is wonderful...close to all major attractions with metro station a 2 minute walk away. I will definitely be back at the Preciados on my next visit to Madrid!

We've stayed at Hotel Preciados for a weekend and It has been a very good experience. The people at the reception has been very helpful to our requests, for example when we asked for a resturant they suggested one and booked a table for us. The room was very clean and confortable. And the position of the hotel is very nice to reach in few minutes all the principal attractions in Madrid. I definitely suggest it to all kind of travellers.

The rooms were excellent and very quiet. The bathroom was elegant and spacious. The surrounding area (street & sidewalks) was being repaved and turned into a pedestrian walk-way. It was noisy & difficult to navigate. I assume that this will change quickly.

Great hotel. My only quibble is that I was in an inward facing room (401), with no external window. My window looked over stairs and an internal area. Not a big problem as I was there for work, but I would have asked for a change had it been a holiday. Otherwise, a great hotel in a great city. Go there!

The Preciado was an excellent choice. We were given an upgrade to a junior suite, Rm 207, which was lovely. Very quiet rooms complete with electric shutters in all windows. A large and well equipped bathroom, complete with blowdryer. Daniel, the front desk manager, was extraordinarily helpful in locating good restaurants and getting tickets to the bullfight. The hotel is very near the puerto Del Sol shopping area and Plaza Callao, which allows you to go anywhere on the very easy to understand Metro. The only problem we had was getting to the hotel from the train station. The Preciados is on Calle Preciados, which has a pedestrian only section and a cars allowed section, but the taxi drivers all refused to take us because they thought it was all pedestrian only, and kept telling us to take the metro, which we did with all our luggage, and then trekked like sherpas to finally locat the hotel ON THE AUTO ALLOWED AREA!! If you are taking a taxi from the train station or the airport, make sure to tell the driver to take you to the Preciados at the plaza Callao. Even if they won't take you any further you are only a block from the hotel there, but once there they should all see that they can drive you right to the door. Also, their cafe is a decent place for a bite in the morning but we only had coffee and croissants, not the buffet.

Perfect location if you want to explore Madrid, within walking distance from Prado and Royal Palace. Breakfast a bit expensive, EUR15, so try the cafeteria on the corner, EUR2 for coffee and a croissant. The only negative aspect- the size of my room. Smaller than a prison cell, even the bathroom looked bigger.

Good Hotel, good service and competent/friendly staff. I used the Restaurant twice (breakfast and dinner) and both times the food was mediocre and overpriced. Luckily there are plenty of good restaurants in the neighborhood. The single rooms (only one per floor)are relatively spacious but look towards the interior of the hotel with no sunlight. Watch out for terrible smoking odors even in non-smoking rooms! Free wifi with strong signals in rooms. Overall a good experience and value

The rooms were a very good size and the bathroom great. The hotel is located on a fairly busy street, but double glass french doors and automatic metal shutters completely cut the noise. The location was a bit hard to find, as the street radiates out from a square and there are 2 different places to pick it up from the central square. At the information booth, conveniently located there, they gave us a hand point to go down one portion of the road, but in fact, it was on the other side on the other side of the square. Breakfast was available for a fee, and nicely presented.

The good news is that the bathroom of the single rooms is almost as big as the bedroom. The bad news is that the bedroom of the singles is not much bigger than the bathroom. The singles appears also to be all close to the elevators, which means there is some noise. Singles also seem to face all inside, i.e. no natural light in the room. Not recommended for a longer stay. Otherwise nice new interior.

I had a spacious room facing Calle Preciados. Two windows brought good light. The Museo Prado is about fifteen minutes away, as is, in another direction, the Palacio Real. Both Callao and Santo Domingo Metro stations are perhaps two minutes from the hotel. In sum, the location is perfect for seeing sights in the city center and beyond, whether by foot or by public transportation. Excellent eateries are nearby, including the Gallegan restaurant that adjoins the hotel. Food at the latter is delicious and moderately priced. The hotel is very well staffed with polite, helpful, friendly personnel. My requests for information were always answered. Service was in every way excellent.

Preciados is one of 6 hotels we stay at in Madrid and it was our fourth stay there. It is in a central area just by Santo Domingo tube station. It is convenient for the Opera, El Corte Ingles, FNAC,the Gran Via and numerous restaurants. Calle Preciados is one way and there was no left turn from Gran Via westbound on a busy Saturday night so our taxi had a small diversion. The hotel is modern with well appointed rooms and free wifi. The 1st floor is smoking and some smoke had drifted up to our 2nd floor non-smoking room so we changed it for a 3rd floor room. Other than that it was a totally satisfactory stay and we would strongly recommend Preciados.

Hotel Preciados was a excellent choice. Quiet room, clean and good value (prices seem high in Madrid). We skipped breakfast and had great cafe breakfasts in the neighborhood for about 3 Euros each (coffee, roll). There is a Valor Cafe (specializing in Chocolate) on a pedestrian street that joins Preciados just down the street that is particularly recommended. Also note that Preciados Street makes a 90-degree turn as you walk up from Plaza del Sol, this confused me for a while, but eventually found the hotel.

I stayed in a standard room for 3 nights, I wouldnt hesitate reccomending this hotel to anyone looking for a quality hotel in Madrid, the reasonable price is a bonus. The location is perfect, easy walking distance to callao metro, and walkable to anywhere in the city. I will be staying here when I return to Madrid

This was a wonderful hotel, very modern and clean inside with a free mini bar and free wireless internet. The hotel far exceeded my expectations in everything, including design, decor, price, service and location. The hotel was located in the middle of 3 different subways as well. I will definitely be using this hotel for all my travels to Madrid. It was wonderful and the price is great, only 100 euros.

We went on a 8 day vacation trip in spain starting from madrid - to cordoba/sevilla - to granada and finished in barcelona. Precidados was in a great location - very close to the metro station and all the major sights in Madrid. Some nice tapas bars closeby too. In our whole trip we thought it was the best quality for the price - a great deal We were travelling with my 7 year old daughter and they gave the extra bed free, also there was a couple of computers where we could access internet freely(both of which which is not what we got in the rest of spain) I would totally recommend it..

Good price for great location, close to Sol, Gran Via, Plaza Mayor, several Metro stops, lots of shopping. Staff speaks English competently. No airport shuttle. Small but stylish room.

My husband and I absolutely loved this hotel. It was in the centre of a busy area, close to Gran Via and Preciados shopping street. We could walk to all the main tourist destinations, and it was very close to three Metro stations. Although it was busy around the hotel, the room was very quiet. Our room was absolutely delightful. It was comfortable, spotless, modern and the free mini-bar was a lovely touch. The breakfast was slightly expensive, but it was good and the service was excellent. There were two computers with free internet access to guests, which I liked. We would recommend this hotel to everyone!

This hotel was not just clean but super clean! reception, all spoke good English especially the G.m. who was a great ambassador for his hotel of which he is certifiably proud. like so many others,Icould not understand why the hotel charged so much for breakfast-empty restaurant and local coffee shops full!!

Nice clean quiet hotel. Seems to have been recently renovated. Very central. Max 30 minutes walk from everything of significance in old Madrid. Condensation/bubbling from A.C. a bit loud but not terribly so. Room smallish but bathroom very decent size. Room very clean. Great sound insulation from outside - at least on 4th floor. Corridors etc. very clean. Reception very helpful. Would I stay here again? Absolutely yes. Very good Spanish restaurant facing hotel entrance and good Italian restaurant beside hotel.

The Hotel was very clean and quiet. It was very central to the Peurta del Sol, only about 2-3 blocks away. The staff was friendly and someone always understood English. We were a traveling mature couple and really enjoyed Madrid. We could walk to all of the sights we needed to see. Oct 10-18 the weather was perfect, about 72-75* everyday.

While the room was very clean and modern - plus the bathroom was HUGE - there was no window. Also, on the first night after 32 hours of travel we were woken up by some wild commotion on the main staircase at 3:30am - sounded like a Spanish stag party or something. Area around hotel not the nicest (pizza parlours and kebab shops, paved city square with odd types hanging around) it was a short walk to nicer areas. Good location if you want to shop high street stores and quite convenient for sightseeing. SOME streets close by are rather seedy - but close to Gran Via that has to be expected - they were easily avoided without significant detour!

This hotel was within walking distance of everything. The staff was fantastic! On a day when my friend was expected at 10AM & I had left her a message, the staff was very concerned when I checked with them about 12 and she had not arrived. As soon as she arrived they told her how relieved they were and gave her the message immediately. Much of the staff spoke excellent English! Downside: breakfast not included and the buffet breakfast at the restaurant was overpriced. I would definitely stay there again if I return to Madrid.

We had a junior suite which was outstanding. Lots of space, 2 flat screen TV's large bathroom and balconies for every window. The service was wonderful with extra touches such as a free mini bar (limited selection but nice). The location is wonderful a very short walk to the major shopping area and to the Opera House, Royal Palace and the old quarter. We did not eat at the resturant but it looked lovely and always busy. The one small problem is our taxi driver did not know where it was and we had to ask and walk a bit upon arrival. Nice eating places close by but do stay away from the Italian resturant nearby- Tuscanny- terrible food.

Good location, easy access to metro Santa Domingo and Callao.Very quiet room, clean, smallish rooms for a 4 star.Free mini bar, which I have never had before. We paid €100 per night which was good value. No complaints. Happy to recommend.Bars and restaurants in the vicinity excellent ( Domingo's bar excluded - AVOID).

Excellent location and hotel - staff was very friendly and helpful, very clean, fairly new - overall great. The only thing it did not include was breakfast (which it should) and you had to pay 15 Euros at the restaurant adjacent to the property (and we did because of convenience) which was pricey for breakfast. Everything else was great and the price was very good for such an excellent and central location. Will definitely stay here again when we return to Madrid.

Everything was very good. The restaurant was also very good although a little bit expensive. The Internet service downstairs was not available the last three days of our stay of six nights. I would stay in this hotel again if I were to travel to Madrid in the future.

First time in Madrid - unfortunately 3 of 4 in my group came down with bronchitis. I was the sickest at that point in the trip. Outside window were trash receptacles - unsightly. Friends in other room complained of street noises and commotion. Location convenient.

I stayed for 3 nights in the Preciados hotel with a friend of mine and we both found it to be the most comfortable accommodation to have stayed in to date. Everything about hotel was perfect. I cannot recommend it highly enough. The soundproofing walls and windows helped for a peacefull sleep from the busy street below. The location of the hotel couldn't have been better and was central to all of the cities sights and shopping and a metro station was about 100 yards away. I really enjoyed my stay in Madrid and will definitely return and stay in the Preciados and have no hesitation in recommending it to anybody.

We were very impressed by Preciados! Location is just perfect, close to metro/shops/bars/restuarants/deli/supermarkets, in short, you can find what you need in the area. All staff are well-trained and efficient. They did their best to make us feel at home. Room is in good size and clean (we stayed in a standard double). Although the hotel is in the very busy area, you wont be awoke at night since they installed double-glass window. Mini bar in the room offer free drinks, internet service (no worry if dont have a computer, they have two at their business centre on the ground floor) is free also. We would definitely recommend Precidos and will stay there next time we visit Madrid.
