We tried one breakfast but we did not like it. The coffee was not good. We found a nice bar outside the hotel.

A nice hotel in a good location, everything was fine except a tiny size of a room. Un buen hotel situado en corazón de Madrid, sólo me dió lástima q sus habitaciones fueran muy pero muy pequeñas.

Hotel Prado is in a great location. Quick walk to all galleries and 10 minute walk to train station. There are plenty of restaurants and bars to choose from close to hotel. Room was very large, quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly and welcoming. 3 different levels of breakfast to choose from. Excellent location and great value for money. We will defintely stay here again.

Very good hotel with excellent location. Good clean rooms. Too bad the wireless internet connection didn't work inside the room as advertised. As soon as you were outside the room, it worked.

Single room was small but perfectly adequate and well furnished. I would have liked a view though but understand that twin rooms are used more therefore take priority. Staff were excellent and very helpful. Situation of hotel was perfect for all the attractions I wanted to see. All in all a great Hotel which I would use again.

The Hotel Prado is a fantastic location from which to explore Madrid. It's very centrally located, with the major attractions of the city in easy walking distance. The area of the city is very touristy but has excellent restaurants and felt very safe. We were frustrated by the lack of directions to the hotel on the website but figured it out. (Get off at the Seville metro stop and turn onto Calle de Cedaceros, turn right on Carrera de San Jeronimo and left on Calle de Ventura de la Vega.) The value for the money was great, the only problem was that the walls are very thin. We heard people in other rooms and on other floors. However, it didn't affect our sleep or our stay. There's a nice lounge and the hotel staff suited our needs. We chose not to eat the breakfast, as it was a little pricey, but found some excellent cafes for our morning meal. All in all, I highly recommend the Hotel Prado.

We had a very large room (suite) as there had been some problem with our reservation (we had to spend the first night in another hotel). So the room was really nice and comfortable. However, we could hear the noise from the front door, and the heating of the room was difficult to tune (combined with the air conditioning, it was either too hot or too cold). Breakfast is ok, expensive for what is available. Perfect location, staff nice

We chose this hotel because it is central and our aim was to visit the major art galleries. It is well located for this purpose. It is not cheap and the garage charge (21 demanded as against 18 on the website) is high; especially for a tiny garage which is accessed by a lift and in which it is v. diff. to manouver. There is a ridiculous 3-tier charging system for breakfast: the buffet is minimal but adequate (incredibly in Spain there was no orange marmalade). Rooms were clean and well-presented, although very small. Public areas consisted of a corridor, a lounge and a tiny computer cubicle. A big plus, though, is free, unlimited (slow) internet access. In summary, this hotel has the size and atmosphere of a family-run place, but the apparent aspiration to be something grander than it is. It is marginally too expensive for what it offers, but very convenient for the centre.

We found the El Prado excellent in all respects. The rooms were clean and spacious, the facilities were very satisfactory. The (Spanish) breakfast at 4.5 Eu was quite adequate. The hotel was quiet at night. The Internet facility was much appreciated. One small caveat: there was not always an English speaker at the front desk, but we managed nonetheless.

I don't know about the Prado because when I arrived, they told me they did not have my room because someone extended their stay and they put me in a taxi and sent me to their sister hotel. LOPE DE VEGA. I assume it was a similar hotel which was fine for one night in a business type hotel. It was directly across from the Prado Museum, exactly what I wanted. However, they couldn't arrange a shuttle, so I had to pay 35 Euros to the airport the next day.

I had to ask 6 times for an iron because the hotel only owns 3 of them and no one seemed to want to go out of their way to help me get one of them. The room I stayed in is smaller than one of my house's closets and I burned myself pretty well in the shower since the temperature varied according to who else was showering in the hotel apparently...without me changing the faucet in the shower at all. Fun. However, the location was great and there is internet access for free throughout the hotel. As long as you get a decent rate and don't plan to stay long in your room, it's okay for the location.
USA, Jun 2008
Hotel Prado was adequate. It was inexpensive, but clean. The room was very small, noise from hallway and adjoining rooms. The elevator had an issue where it was always two -three inches above or below the floor it stopped at. (Tripping hazard). Employees were not especially helpful or friendly. Location was a quiet area near the museums, but not close to any subway stops. It was just ok.

The Hotel is located near the center and has a very nice surrounding: a lot of pubs, bars and restaurants. The wifi is free, but was difficult to reach from my room. Good coverage in the other parts of the hotel.

I had a wonderful time at the Hotel Prado. It was not difficult to find (although a short walk from the metro), had friendly staff, and was walking distance to many sights in Madrid (Prado Museum, Parque del Retiro, etc). The first two nights I stayed in a single room which was very small, but charming nonetheless. I then moved to a double for the third night which was much more spacious. Both rooms had some noise problems - the single was very noisy because of thin walls, and the double had some street noise coming up. The single had many TV channels while the double had only six channels. Also, the double had crumbs on the table when I came in. The lounge was fine, free internet in the lobby, and the breakfast buffet was typical. The staff was very helpful and friendly. There are many restaurants nearby, especially in the Plaza de Espana, and a great night life. Overall a pleasant experience.

Hotel Prado was very good in terms of location, and services.I would question the price we paid in that it was double (€640 for three nights)the normal rate due to a "festival" which we saw for a short while. The hotel would have been excellant value otherwise. Note that all the hotels put their prices up during the festival. We were very near all the major museums and the main squares were only a short walk away.(10 mins). We were only 100 metres from Santa Anna Plaza which had some lovely restaurants and tapas bars. Overall I would recommend the Hotel Prado if the price was lower, which it usually is. We travelled at the end of Jan 08 and the weather was unseasonally good.A beautiful city to visit.

PERFECT location and very helful staff. Hotel Prado is probably in one of the best locations in Madrid, in the citycentre! THe staff helped with all informations requested and the hotel, itself, has a good relation with the clients. Small gestures, such as candies and fruits in each floor, brought a good environment in there. The only small "complaint" that I have is about the breakfast - which is not included in the price. Not that the quality of the food is poor, but the prices are high. The whole buffet, for instance, costs 11 euros! But I strongly recomend the hotel and I would return with no doubt.

Like it's sister Hotel the Lope de Vega located nearby, hotel owners and managers run a high quality operation. The staff speak English well, are knowledgeable, and concerned that the guests enjoy their stay. We liked the room -- a little small but not tiny -- we have stayed in smaller rooms. All the needed amenities are there, i.e. mini bar with some space for a guest's water and perhaps some jamon and cheese and an in the room safe. The room windows open wide for those that like a little air-- but it does give better access to the street noise -- but then you're in Madrid. The floors are squeekly clean wood rather than ukky shag. We would return to the Prado -- excellent location -- on another Madrid visit; as we did to the Lope de Vega. We have been to Spain several times and would highly recommend the Prado or the Lope de Vega, your choice.

Comfortable room with good double-glazing, and overlooking a quiet side street. Free internet access from two terminals. Excellent location for anyone visiting the Prado and other art galleries. Metro station nearby. Atocha station two stops away. Puerta del Sol within ten minutes' walk. Three minuses 1)breakfast room excellent but only open for breakfast - no facilities for hot drinks after 11am 2)I asked for a non-smoking room but the room had cigarette burns on table and smelt as if it had been recently used by a smoker 3)Lighting in bathroom extremely harsh - only other mirror was on doors of wardrobe.

Stopped over for a night in Madrid at the end of a trip to Seville. Found the Hotel Prado very clean and comfortable, with very friendly staff (although the arrangements for breakfast weren't very clear [there's a choice of different levels, but all there is to tell you what each contains is a crude hand-drawn picture]). I was travelling with a group of friends, so the decision on the hotel was largely made for me (hence I have marked a 5 for the photos/location and type correspondence section above). The theme was wine, and the rooms named after the wine-making regions of Spain, so the information around the hotel should appeal to those with an interest in this area. As we were only there for the night, we didn't get to see much, however, the Prado Museum is well worth a visit, and contains a huge Goya collection (I have mere passing interest in art, but found his work fascinating). It's a short distance down the hill from the hotel. You'll pass a Starbucks on the way (but don't bother going in - it's terrible) Heading the other direction is a large plaza, surrounded with small bars and restaurants. There's a great atmosphere there at night, and it's a great spot for afternoon lunch. Continuing on through a load of narrow streets will bring you to the larger shopping area, with an impression Corte de Ingles department store (spanning 3 buildings).

This is a good budget hotel with a hip, minimalist kind of style. But the desk service is uneven. I had asked for a shuttle to the airport, which costs 20 Euros, the evening before my departure from the hotel. Instead, I was stuck with a taxi driver who was going to cost me 35 Euros. He was giving me a difficult time. The desk person was unsympathetic and inflexible. I ended up walking a quarter mile to the taxi stop with my luggage, where I found an honest taxi driver who charged me 20 Euros.

HOTEL, ROOM ETC IN ITSELF WAS VERY NICE, THE PROBLEM WAS THAT THERE WAS A GROUP OF PEOPLE THERE WHO CAUSED A LOT OF NOICE, RUNNING UP AND DOWN THE STAIRS, SLAMMING DOORS, SHOUTING ETC THIS WENT ON FOR 3 DAYS OF MY 4 DAY STAY AND I COMPLAIN ABOUT IT AND THE REACTION FROM THE STAFF SAID THAT THEY TOLD THEM TO BE QUIETE AND THAT THEY COULDNT DO MORE THAN THAT, NO ESCUSE OR APOLOGY AND THIS PISSED ME OF A BIT, THE 3STAR HOTEL WAS MORE LIKE A HOSTEL AND BECAUSE OF LACK OF SLEEP MY STAY IN MADRID WAS NOT AS GOOD AS IT SHOULD BE, I ASKED FOR PRICE REDUCTION AND STAFF SAID THIS WAS IMPOSSIBLE, GOT 30€ OFF AFTER A WHILE WICH I FIND ONLY SYMBOLIC, HOTEL WAS GREAT IN ITSELF, MADRID GREAT BUT A LOT OF BULLSHIT FROM STAFF AND 78€ FOR A NIGHT AT A "YOUTHHOSTEL" IS NOT ACCSEPTABLE. ALSO SOME PEOPLE(THE STAFF?) WHERE SMOKING AND TALKING AT THE BACKSTAIRS IN THE MIDDLE OF NIGHT SO I HAD TO CLOSE THE WINDOW...

Some things that stand out about this hotel: Location was absolutely perfect for the museums and restaurants. Breakfast could be either full or continental so we didn't have to pay so much, and the continental breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean and attractive.

The location of the Hotel is excellent. The employees are kind. The room was modern and spacious. I have only two critics. The first one is the noise. The room window was given on the street Prado and it was very noisy especially friday and saturday night. There was also the garbadge truck that makes a lot of noise after 2am ! A more sound isolated window will be welcomed. Second, if the bathroom is correctly cleaned, the bedroom was not completly clean. Especially the floor was not swept and the sheet not changed during all the stay (6 nights). But despite these critisms, the overall rating the Hotel is good.

In general excellent stay, pleasant hotel. Access was in the period concerned (30/05 to 02/06/2005) difficult (works, and local access limited to residents or persons with proof of hotel reservation, by local police or urban vigils), one must think beforehand of having internet reservation confirmation at hand to pass this control. We had it so everthing OK. Parking difficult (hotel complete) but Parking Sta Ana near by, on plaza Santa Ana, is convenient, however costly (55 Euros for 3 nights). Unloading luggage needs luck to find available parking place near hotel, be it for 5 minutes. Price and service offered, on Madrid bases, are excellent, when one gets accustomed to soaring Madrid prices.

No room for my car in he car park. Good car park at the top of the road, but loading and unloading at the hotel a misery. The worst breakfast, although cheap, that we have had at any hotel. Very good position to see Madrid and plenty of decent restaurants within a few metres.

Newly refurbished, comfy bed, low noise levels (important in Madrid), helpful staff at check-in. Only a few minor things, lack of attention to detail stop it getting the highest marks but overall much, much better than other places I have stayed in Madrid at similar prices. Oh, and the location is perfect!
