I really enjoy my stay at this hotel. Its very central, at the heart of downtown. Its located on the 6th Floor and not at the 7th like its shown on the ground floor. The rooms are clean and they are fixed according to Europe standards. My only complaint was the wireless internet is not available in all the rooms. Some of the workers don't speak fluently english but that's the rule in Madrid.

I really liked the hotel and my room was comfortable and clean. It was also surprisingly quiet, considering that it is in the busy area of Madrid. The staff were friendly, and eager to provide useful advice (where to have breakfast, how to get to airport...). Excellent place!

Location is ideal – right on the corner of Gran via and Calle Montera, right next to Gran Via metro. Rooms are not luxurious but are clean and bright with modern IKEA-style furniture. However the room overlooking Gran Via got a LOT of traffic noise even with the double-glazed windows shut tight – Gran Via traffic roars all night. The room I had overlooking (pedestrianised) Calle Montera was much quieter - a bit of street noise but not really a problem – and had a nice view of the street and Madrid rooftops. So I would recommend this hotel but beware of rooms overlooking Gran Via. A couple of things to be aware of – the room safes need a Euro coin to operate (as in many Spanish hotels); the hotel doesn’t have laundry service and there doesn’t seem to be any laundromats (laundrettes) nearby.

Rooms are clean and the relationship between quality and price is really good despite some receptionists barely understand english and obviously don't speak it at all. The rooms are very hot. We had to turn off the heater and sleep with the windows open... in March and even with an outside temperature of 10°C!

Fantastic location between Plaza del Sol and Chueca - all the main sites and museums are walkable. Spotlessly clean, good sized room, simple but well furnished with everything you need. Hotel is on 8th floor (2 lifts)and is situated over 2 floors. Friendly, helpful multi lingual staff. Ideally sitated for everything in Madrid with metro outside that will get you to the airport in less than an hour for 2 euros. All of Madrid's bars and restuarants are within easy walking distance. No breakfast is served but there is a traditional Spanish bar opposite for coffee and cakes (open from 7am) or a MacDonalds (next door) if you have left your taste buds at home. It is true that the area ouitside has a few prostitutes working (day and night) but this being Madrid everything is relaxed, grown up and civilised - you will not get any hassle, the area is very safe (there is a police station further down the street!). Highly recommended.

Hotel clean and well situated. But: Small rooms with poor decoration. Small bed. Air conditionning noisy in bathroom. Wifi very weak.

Extremely convenient location, everything near. 5' to Puerta del Sol, another 5 to Plaza Mayor. Rooms with (a great) view are less quiet, but double windows are efficient and there is air conditionning. Not dangerous, but some prostitutes line up next to the Mc Donalds that is down the building.

The only "problem" about this hostal is that Gran Via is quite noisy - even with double-glass windows (I can't say it ruined my nights, but some people may find it annoying). I guess rooms on Calle Montera are quieter. But it perfectly situated, very clean, and people are charming.

This was my first stay in Madrid, and I found Hostal Luis very satisfactory, the room was always cleaned well and the staff were very willing to supply us with any tourist information we needed. The location was excellent we hardly ever needed to take the metro we could walk to most tourist spots and restaurants in the evening

A few days' holiday. Very clean room, but very noisy (room next to the reception desk, noise from telephone, people talking loud late in the evening, steps echoing in the hallways etc). Central area, easy distance from everywhere, good transport connections. Prostitutes in the street below but nothing really shocking.
