It is completely unacceptable to have no hot water available for the three days of our stay. Breakfast was poor quality.It is clear that the management has invested very little money in recent years.The room was large but dark with shutters that couldn't be opened.

The hotel is a bit old-fashioned, especially the plumbing. No card-keys here, but an real key you have to leave at reception every time you go out. Despite this I enjoyed my stay. Echegaray is noisy into the early hours of the morning, especially at weekends when madrilenos party until dawn. If you like sherry don't miss the Venencia bar which is very different from most bars and more or less opposite the hotel.

The tub was so small even I with a small frame had no room to move. Tub was probably 2 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 feet. barely could move.Shower was right above your head, way up there out of reach, had no shower cap. couldn't shut the shower door properly and all the water flowed out. was there 4 days, no one fixed it. Garbage truck came to pick up trash for the street at 3:30am. #215 was right by the street, so much noise from people on the street. The windows couldn't close as well. If you can put up with all this, the price/quality ratio is good.

the hotel was good but there were two great problems with that : in the rooms with balcony on calle Echegaray it is not possible to sleep until 6:00 in the morning in the week end because of the people in the street. one other problem : the water from the shower was red in same rooms. however the hotel is good, clean and very centrally located and the staff is very pleasant
