In the heart of Madrid city the classical 19th century facade of Vita Ingles is perfectly situated for your short or long term city break in Madrid Spain. Just 250 meters from the shopping and leisure hub of Puerta del Sol and a short walk from Prado Museum, Thyssen-Bornemisza, The Modern Art Reina Sofia Museum, and the famous Retiro and Botanic Gardens, as well as the metro station and a casino, Vita Ingles is strategically located for comfort and pleasure. Guests can explore the whole city and still be just a short stroll away from the hotel, so there is always a place to return to, to recharge your batteries before setting out on your adventures once more.

The value for money Madrid hotel Vita Ingles offers comfortable and spacious accommodation at prices that suit every pocket. Vita Ingles, established in 1886 right in the heart of the city, brings a traditional family atmosphere to life. Guests will be greeted to a warm Spanish welcome by the hotel's friendly and helpful staff. No problem is too big or too small, and the staff is on hand to give you advice on things to do and see in the city. Complimentary wireless Internet is provided at the hotel, and an airport shuttle runs 24 hours a day, for a fee. The hotel does not allow pets.

One of the best collections in Europe!

The Thyssen-Bornemisza museum is located within walking distance of the Vita Ingles. Thyssen–Bornemisza is part of the Golden Triangle of Art which includes the Prado and Reina Sofia galleries. The museum gives visitors an overview of art history from the 13th century to the late 20th century. With nearly 1,000 pieces of works on display, visitors can explore the collection chronologically in order to see the progression of art over time.

The collection is the second largest of its kind in Europe after the British Royal Collection and features examples of Renaissance, Mannerism, Baroque, and Rococo art. Unlike the other museums in the Golden Triangle the Thyssen does not hold any free day access to the museum. But it is still worth the entry fee just to see some of the well known art pieces in real life. The museum also features a quaint café which serves a mean cup of coffee, to help give you a second wind to continue viewing these wonderful pieces of art work.

Park of the Pleasant Retreat!

Jardins del Buen Retiro is the main park in the city of Madrid. Also known as the Lungs of Madrid it is a popular park near the Prado museum. Absolutely wonderful for a relaxing day out, the park features lots of green areas and grass to have a snooze in, soak up some sun, play games or even have a spot of lunch in the shade - the choice is yours. It is also possible to rent a boat and enjoy sometime on the park’s lake, check out a puppet show or enjoy a delicious coffee in one of the park's lovely cafes. Family-friendly and safe, the park offers a quiet retreat from the hustle and bustle of this popular city.

The staff is very helpful and willing to go out of their way. Breakfast is plentiful and the price is right. A broken shower head was rapidly fixed. With staff being present 24/7 makes you feel secure. It is close to most major activities and the metro station.

The room (a twin room) was silent, comfortable, spacious and...very warm! (I stayed in February, with an external temperature of 2-6°C). Bathroom was new and clean, with a large shower unit. The hotel is located in the city centre, very near (10 minutes by foot) to the main Museums (Del Prado, Reina Sofia) and to Plaza del Sol. Surely I will come back in this hotel in Madrid.

Basic, no-frills older hotel in an excellent location for museums, parks, restaurants. Walk to anywhere in town or easy Metro options (particularly from airport). Fair value when compared to other hotels in the area. We asked for, and got, a smaller yet quieter room in the back. We were in Madrid for only one night this trip so the hotel was just what we needed. Location and price combination would probably warrant a longer stay on a future trip.

Don't forget to take earplugs - we could hear every sound from the hallways and adjacent rooms as well as from the street, which becomes a going out street late at night. This can be convenient of course, if you feel like crahing in your bed immediately after a cocktal of glass of sherry (there's a nice sherry bar opposite to the hotel).

This was my second stay and I would not hesitate to return again. The hotel shows its age but it is very well positioned, with spacious rooms and good value for the price. Some visitor reviews complain of street noise. The street is quite noisy, but the rooms are double-glazed, which keeps out most of it. Both visits my room faced the street and I did not feel disturbed by the noise. (It was winter and spring so I had the double glazing closed.) Breakfast is nothing special, but it is not included in the price, so you can always go elsewhere. However, if you had the same outside the hotel, it would cost you as much or more.

I was very pleased indeed with my room, because of its spaciousness, its attention to spaces to put things, a good desk to work at with three electric sockets beside (I didn't need the 3-socket extension lead I had taken specially). The paintwork is showing its age, but the room and bathroom were cleaned well each day. Excellent value for money. I look forward to returning there soon.

Excellent location and also the hotel itself, from the "outside" (i.e. when you arrive there, the lobby, the welcoming of the staff) is excellent. The rooms haven't visibly been renewed for some time (and you see that from several details, eg. the locker), but they are clean and you have everything you need: my room was very spacious (king size bed for single occupancy, large room well equipped with places to open luggage, hang clothes etc.) with a bathroom narrow but absolutely acceptable. I had excellent value for the money spent.

One of the staff was not helpful at all and even rude. The water in the bathroom was not clean (it kept coming out in yellow color). Anyways, the location was perfect.

PRO: Prime location- everything within walking distance! Stuff is correct, responsive and speaks reasonable English. CONTRA: No sound insulation what so ever! You can clearly hear all 8 rooms around you. Breakfast is very basic

It is completely unacceptable to have no hot water available for the three days of our stay. Breakfast was poor quality. It is clear that the management has invested very little money in recent years. The room was large but dark with shutters that couldn't be opened.

The hotel is a bit old-fashioned, especially the plumbing. No card-keys here, but an real key you have to leave at reception every time you go out. Despite this I enjoyed my stay. Echegaray is noisy into the early hours of the morning, especially at weekends when madrilenos party until dawn. If you like sherry don't miss the Venencia bar which is very different from most bars and more or less opposite the hotel.

The tub was so small even I with a small frame had no room to move. Tub was probably 2 1/2 feet by 1 1/2 feet. barely could move.Shower was right above your head, way up there out of reach, had no shower cap. couldn't shut the shower door properly and all the water flowed out. was there 4 days, no one fixed it. Garbage truck came to pick up trash for the street at 3:30am. #215 was right by the street, so much noise from people on the street. The windows couldn't close as well. If you can put up with all this, the price/quality ratio is good.

the hotel was good but there were two great problems with that : in the rooms with balcony on calle Echegaray it is not possible to sleep until 6:00 in the morning in the week end because of the people in the street. one other problem : the water from the shower was red in same rooms. however the hotel is good, clean and very centrally located and the staff is very pleasant
