For the price we paid it was a reasonable service and the room.

Good but a bit dated in its decor No room service available after 22.30 TV channels choice for english speakers non existent outside of CNN Good price/quality balance

Pleasant hotel about 10 minutes walk from the main tourist attractions but close to a metro station. Good, if slightly expensive, breakfast. Young, obviously inexperienced, staff lost their cool under pressure on a couple of occasions but it was not a problem.

The location is very centric. Very close to the Metro station. We used the Metro to go practically everywhere in Madrid. It is also pretty easy to ride the Metro from the Airport all the way to the hotel, as long as you don't have too much baggage (20 - 30 minutes ride, with one train change). There are several cafe's and restaurants within a few blocks so getting food was not a problem. One very nice thing is that the hotel is not located in a turisty area. There weren't any street performers, beggars, or crouds to contend with. Considering the price we paid (80 Euros/night) I would say this hotel is a very good value and I enjoyed my stay. We only experienced two negative things that are worth mentioning. The air conditioning leaked condensation and got some of our stuff wet. When I told the hotel staff they oppologized and said they could not get anyone to fix it until Monday(It happened saturday). Their temporary solution was placing some pillows under the drip to catch the moisture. The second negative was the noise. The walls were pretty thin. This didn't pressent too much of a problem to us, but I can see how it could be annoying if you have noisy neighbors. I've been to Madrid one other time and so far this was the better place. I would definately consider staying there again, specially considering the price.

Good hotel quality and front desk very helpfull and kindness, unfortunately the room service destroyed my good opinion against this hotel, we still waiting for our order that never comes. Make sure you don't return too late in night otherwise you must ring the bell and the night porter will appear only after 10 minutes and look at you terrible because we have wake up from his dreams. Instead of sleeping he should open the door soon as possible and maybe say "good night", forget it is a good choice if he let you go in. To be in most popular part of the city will take 30 minutes walking and especially in the night is not very comfortable to walk so long distance, however taxi are not expensive.

Gran Versalles hotel is well located downdown Madrid, in a nice quiet area, close to the main touristic, shopping, nightlife spots and subway. My single room was nice but pretty small, with a nice bathroom. Only bad point: the window was giving on a very small courtyard, pretty noisy at night because of the location of the air-conditionning compressor system. I did not use my room's air conditionning system as I prefered to get fresh air rom the outside and this was disturbing. The staff was very nice and helpful.

Well located, not so close to tourist areas but easy to reach by subway. A couple of subway stations far from the best shops in Madrid (Serrano and Salamanca suburb). Very good relation quality price.

On 2 of our 3 nights we were disturbed by young revellers arriving back to the hotel around 5 am. when this was brought to the attention of the hotel it was dealt with efficiently and with courtesy. apart from that, no complaints.

if they are going to charge 25 euro a day for car parking and 25 a day for WIFI they should have honesty to at least state on site that extra charges apply for use of same.

perfect, except breakfast that is IMO too expensive : 10.5 € per person. I was not sure either if it was included or not in quoted price.

Spent 4 nights here in Oct 2006. A reasonable, average 4-star place. My room had noisy plumbing. As close to the Main Square(s) as it gets, walking distance from most sights & Prado. Very pleasant Restaurant staff.

Good hotel, situated near to the centre, wonderful quiet room inmidst this busy city. room and bathroom tidy, only the drain smelled somewhat unpleasantly. The rooms have a good heating (important in madrid in january!!), but in the breakfast room in the basement you always got cold feet because the heating (via air condition) never reached the ground. Negative: scrambled eggs and bacon at the rich breakfast buffet always cold. But in general quite recommendable. I'd book it again.
