I stayed 2 night in the hotel. It's very close to both metro stations Toledo and La Latina. Easy walk to la Plaza Major (about 15 minutes). There're restaurants and markets nearby of ok quality. Restaurants near la Latina seem to be attractive but I didn't have chance to try them out. The school cross the street can be noisy during the daytime, but nothing will be heard if close the windows. The Tablao flamenco show reccommended by the hotel is good, but for even more serious flamenco, go to Casa Patas, it's about 5 euros by taxi.

Enjoyed my stay here: staff were pleasant, room was spotless and incredibly spacious (perhaps too much so... four single beds for one person!!) and quiet. Free wireless always gets a big thumbs up from me too. I thought the price for breakfast was a bit steep but from 8am you can buy a range of breakfasty-things from the cafe on the ground floor (I thought the hot chocolate and churros for E2.40 were yum!) Very close to the Metro but also within walking distance to see the sights around the Centre. Thanks!

It was a very pleasant stay (3 nights). The hotel offers erverything you need when you make a city-trip. We took breakfast outside the hotel (8€ per perosn seemed a bit to high). The hotel is located very well. A Metro station is very close to the hotel, also several other Bus-Stations. In a couple of minutes you are everywhere in the center of Madrid. And it takes about 45 minutes from the airport to the hotel by Metro.

Overall hotel was good value for money in a great location. Only complaints would be the air conditioning - very noisey. Also our room was opposite the room used to store all cleaning products hence the noise level was very high from about 7am

We were there two nights. We were happy about the location and cleaness, but our room did not have a fridge. Madrid is a hot city and a hotel of this category should have a small fridge. We found three small bottles of water waiting for us on the first night. We only found out us we were leaving that every other floor but not ous has a cold water dispenser. I think if the staff had told us we would enjoyed our stay even more.

I am tourist from Hong Kong, i stay in Hotel Ganivet for 4 nights, the location of hotel is close to subway station, this is convenience and important to traveller, but it is little bit far to Plaza Mayor (someone said 10mins by foot, but i spend 20~25mins). And the room is clean and quiet, bathroom is fine but the shower gel and shampoo are very bad, better to prepare yourself. Finally it is a good hotel and reasonable price, a good choice to stay here.

We stayed for 5 days in the midst of a July heat-wave. The air conditioning was wonderful. The breakfasts (now 10 euros) were excellent with lots of healthy choices, fresh fruits and great variety. Chilled beer with complementary tapas in the bar were very welcome in the heat wave. The shower was great. Two problems we encountered: the bed was very firm and very uncomfortable for my wife with arthritis. Fortunately there were 2 extra king-sized pillows provided and she slept between those. Second problem was minor: the desk chair was so low that it was difficult to use the desk surface and the air-conditioning fan blasted freezing air right at the desk in our room. Solution: use a pillow on the chair and turn off the air-conditioning while using the desk. For a light breakfast, or fabulous ice cream or sandwiches or pastries, try Nurielle at c/Toledo 80, just a short walk up the street: excellent and inexpensive.

We travelled with 4 teen agers, two senior citizens, and two middle agers. Hotel was pretty quiet, definitely not in the hub of things which was fine for us. Puerta de toledo metro and the "circular" bus were what got us where we had to go. there was an old folks home across the street that had its' residents stationed in the window watching life go by. We had a great time conversing with them. they enjoyed the company and we enjoyed making their day!

Hotel tutto sommato buono.

The hotel was fine. It was walking distance to the Plaza Mayor & 2 metro stops as stated in the web site. The front desk personnel were not very friendly but the staff at the cafe made up for it they were the best. We loved the coffee there in the morning to start our day and end our day with sangria. We would consider staying there again.

Basically, a good basic hotel in the old and crowded part of the city. No fridge or coffemaker. Pleasand english speaking staff. Walking distance to Plaza Mayor and Sol, metro within 5 min walk. Supermarket close by, but a better one is in El Corte Ingles on Puerta del Sol. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel, but it has a nice looking cafe (works from 8am) - morning coffee was pretty good. Internet in the lobby one euro per 15 min. We had a room in the back- quiet unless someone was talking in the hall. Then you can hear the conversation as if someone is talking right next to youe bed. I might stay in it again, but would probably look for another one in a better area even not so close to center - Madrid metro is excellent. In general, good experience.

Best quality price hotel I ever seen. We spent two lovely nights. The room were huge and clean. We couldn't here any noise from the other rooms or the street. The bed was perfect. The employees were very professional. Even the security guard was very helpful. The wireless broadband was accessible directly. The food at the breakfast buffet was delicious. The buffet is opened till 11H00. The hotel is located at 200 m from a metro station. And you can reach the old Madrid city by feet. I say it again : perfect!!!

Perfect location, close to historical center of Madrid (10 mn walking from Plazza Mayor, less than one hr walking from every touristic location including Prado, less than one hr from Airport by metro) but nevertheless in a very quiet area. Many restaurants between plazza Mayor and hotel Ganivet. The perfect hotel for a short stay in Madrid indeed!

The hotel is good, but the families with children are advised not have breakfast in the hotel. I have 3 boys,12,10 and 5 years old, and I was charged the full breakfast prize for them, i.e. EUR 47 for the family!! It has been the only hotel I've been in Europe where children pay as adults at breakfast...When my wife asked about it ,she was given a nonsense answer,it is a shame..

Nice Hotel In a good location not far from Madrid City Centre, 2 minute walk to metro stop Puerto De Toledo, with a small shop near by and quite a few tapa's bars. Taxi from town at night once the metro has stopped will range from 5-10 euros depending on how far away you go. Hotel staff very friendly, hotel rooms very nice & clean. I would definately stay here again.

Excellent hotel! Acomodations were really very good, we had easy access to internet at good cost inside the facilities of the Ganivet. The price isn´t really what you may call "the best choice", but it was worth it. Madrid´s metro is excellent and can take you everywhere: there is one of the main stations just 20 mts from the hotel. Location is fine. In Brasil, we are used to have breakfast included in the price, but right next door you can have a nice preakfast for something like 4 euros...

It´s a very professional hotel, with a business profile. Everything worked fine. The only problem is the smell of cigarette, but it´s everywhere in Spain. xxxx Hotel bastante profissional e correto, mas voltado mais para executivos. Tudo funcionou bem. O único problema foi o cheiro de cigarro, mas isso está presente em todos os lugares da Espanha.

We stayed at Ganviet from saturday till monday in the beginning of May, and were very pleased with our stay. The hotel is located in walking distance to both Placa Mayor and Sol, and there are lots of small cafès and resturants on your way there. The rooms and impression of the hotel are better than what you can see from the pictures on the website.
