The hotel meet my standard, the room was excellent even if it wasn't so quiet cause of the traffic in the Gran Via. I didn't experienced the services of the hotel, so i can't judge it.

Wifi prices were just unreasonable and we ended up going next door to one of the cafe's to get the FREE wifi. Staff were friendly and helpful. It took them a long long time to get our room ready though

For as lovely as the hotel entry area was, the room itself was very disappointing...very stripped down, the hairdryer would overheat and shut itself off. The staff were curt and not very helpful. We did really enjoy the pool terrace, and the location was very good, close to two metro stops (Santo Domingo and Opera). Otherwise, for the price, there were probably better options.

I was disappointed with the level of customer service provided. It seemed that every request was met with a knee-jerk reaction of 'no, not possible'. I essentially travel for a living and our requests were simple ones, things that are supplied by hotels the world over at no charge, such as an iron and ironing board, or tea/coffee facilities for the room. Every request evoked the same response of 'not possible'. As a result, I was not encouraged to use the hotels other hospitality facilities because I did not really feel we were welcome. When we were leaving, I asked what would be the cost of a taxi to the airport and the concierge said he would call one and it would cost about 35-40 euro, I walked outside and flagged a taxi down, he charged me 19 euro for the trip. this made me wonder just how far the hotel was willing to go to earn commission. I believe that the hotel would be more profitable if; 1. Guests were made to feel welcome by staff being trained to say 'I will see what I can do' rather than to automatically say 'no'. 2. The little hospitality touches were provided free of charge and 3. There was an effort to create a level of trust between the guest and the hotel by demonstrating that the staff were there to achieve the best deal for the guest, rather than to boost the local economy by ripping off the guests. I will be posting information on my experience on trip advisor and other sites. I believe it is important to advise fellow travellers until such time as experiences for guests at this facility improve.

Free internet would be recommended. A fee of up to 52 euros per week is too much. The hotel is great. In Summer, it would be better is the swimming pool area was open a bit later, eg, 9.30 instead of 9.00 especially for the people working

Initially we were given a room in back end of no-where in the hotel. As a previous guest of the hotel we had been given a room with a view the first time and the quality of this room in comparison was extremely disappointing. There was confusion at first over the fact that I wanted a smoking room so we ended up spending our first night in a twin room with the promise of a double the next day. The following day, thankfully, we were moved to a room at the front - with a balcony and a view!! We were extremely pleased with this as this was one of the reasons we returned to this hotel - along with the pool on the roof!! Love that!! It was 31 degrees celsius at 2am so you can imagine what the days were like. A pool was an essential must have. Last time we were in Madrid we only stayed for a weekend which is no-where near long enough to find your way round this amazing city. The best time for a night out is to go to Sol and find your way round from there. Don't just go into "Irish bars" which supports loud music mainly but try the small bars. There's always so much more character to them. Quieter music so you can have a chat but a great atmosphere and you get to meet some amazing people. If you go in July/August Madrid will be quieter than normal as the Spaniards are on holiday but you can also pick up some amazing bargains - sale time at it's best!!!!

Our stay at the hotel was very pleasant. The location is great!!! Right at the heart of the city! For us it was the best part. We would recommend it to the people who are looking for the hotel in this price range.

Public area lounge was smoking which was unpleasant as you first walk in. Nice that rooms had a separate area for non-smokers.

This hotel was gorgeous and we loved the rooftop pool - the photos on the web site are deceptive. This has to be seen to be believed!! Thank-you to the person who wrote a message previously telling us to get off at the Santo Domingo stop instead of the one stated on the website. Although if you get the metro from the airport the guys there will tell you exactly which lines to catch when you give the address of your hotel. Top notch system!!

This was our first visit to Madrid, overall we had a great few days. I would have rated our stay as excellent if it were not for the paper thin walls in the Hotel, where the noise of the neighbours could be easily heard. Also the fact that the breakfast was not included in the price was not a nice surprise. The site did not point out that breakfast was not included, it lead you to believe that it was, so to be charged €36 for one day was not very helpful. Other than that, the hotel is very good, in a great location. Everything is within walking distance, nice bars and restaurants on the doorstep. Also, if you are travelling in from the Airport, I would highly recommend using the Metro service, excellent service and very cheap. We bought a 10 trip ticket for €6.15, used two of these to get to our hotel, a total cost of €1.23. Also don't use the stop recommended on the website, get out at St. Domingo and exit on the right hand side of the platform, onto Gran Via, this stop is right outside the entrance to the Hotel.
