Our room was fairly basic but a reasonable size and good value for money for a three star hotel. It was clean and quiet and the beds were comfortable. There was plenty of hot water. It is well located and a few minutes walk from the nearest Metro station. The breakfast was reasonable value for a three star hotel and the only negative was that the coffee was Nescafe.

Very kind and professional personnel. The hotel is in a very convenient location, just a few meters from the Senate House. The hotel is very close to the Plaza de Espana subway station, and walking distance from all the main touristic sites of central Madrid: 5 minutes to Palacio Real, 10 minutes to Plaza Major. We were traveling as a couple and would recommend chosing this hotel for a visit to Madrid.

I got what was supposed to be a special deal and thought the quality relative to price was very good. Having booked a single I was given a very spacious twin room. The street outside is not very attractive with some of the buildings seeming to be derelict or empty and one partially demolished, but I did not go to Madrid to spend my time looking at that, and it was very quiet at night. The location was very convenient for a lot of the main sights and also very close to a metro station. Because the breakfast was not included in the price I only had it on the last morning when I was going to the airport. I thought for the price they were charging they should have offered freshly made hot drinks to each guest rather than just providing a dispensing machine, the water which came out of this was not hot enough to make a decent cup of tea which is my preferred drink. Coming down more than half an hour before they finished serving there was hardly any of the cooked food left and it wasn't very hot either, but there was a fairly good selection of other things.

Some problems in the bathroom: the bidet tap was broken and i need to ask fot the toilet brush: there is not inside at my arrive! Cleaning room service decides to put my blancket in the wardrobe each morning: i don't know why... it was on my bed! The concierge said: 50 tv channels, 6 in italian. There are not! The wi.fi. connection is 2€/2hours or 5€ for 24hours, but it is very bad: too slow! Excellent location: quite street, 100mts far from Plaza Espana Metro. I asked to the receptionist about the stamp for my postacards: he said that i could give my postcards to someone with some money at the airport, hoping he will send them instead me... It's so bizarre! Breakfast is not include: it's cost is 9,5€. Too much: Starbuck's is 100 mts far, in front of metro station Plaza Espana, in the corner with Gran Via.

Although not located on a main fancy street such as the "Gran Via", but rather on a narrow unkown street, this is actually good news if you're looking for a good night sleep. This hotel is strategically located at a walking distance of an underground station and bus stop and it is also very near the "Palacio Real" and the "Gran Via". This nice hotel offers clean & comfy rooms at an excellent cost/quality ratio. It also offers free internet access on a business centre and breakfast buffet at an affordable price. Hotel personnel is very friendly and helpful for getting directions. I would definitely come back to this hotel on my next trip to Madrid.

Great Location next to Gran Via by walk, next to Plaza Espana Metro station (4 minutes walk). Do not expect Design, but the Hotel as new materials. It's located in a very quiet street although about 200 meters from total traffic confusion. The price was completly FAIR for the hotel overall.

Good quality, relatively cheap hotel only 3 minute walk from the Plaza D'espana metro stop. Staff spoke good english and were very welcoming. About 15 minute walk to the Puerta del Sol and probably another 5-10 to the Plaza Mayor. As its down a side street its quieter than a lot of other places - Would recommend.

We were happily surprised by how nice the accommodations were at this hotel. We had stayed at a pricier hotel in Madrid two weeks earlier, and Cason de Tormes was as well-located and had better accommodations and extras (like a computer with free internet available in the lobby). The only drawback is being able to hear your neighbors more than one might want to, but for us, this was not a problem. We had considerate neighbors. In fact, the entire stay was completely comfortable and pleasant.

The hotel is very much in the center but on a very quiet little street. The breackfast is poor in comparison to what other hotels offer/not in Madrid/.We were offered a room that was too small, we asked for an other and they gave us a better one.Very good restaurants only a few meters from the hotel. The room does not have a small refrigerator, it a petty because we wanted to buy some tasty goods and bring them home.

The hotel was fine, in a central area of Madrid. The only problem was the air conditionning which was not working very well. The price seems rather high compared to hotels of the south of spain, but I suppose it compares well with other hotels in Madrid. Th employees were really very nice.

Great location for points of interest and access to metro. Surrounding streets a little 'seedy' but we never experienced a problem even returning to the hotel after midnight. Friendly staff - communication in English not a problem. It was easy to hear people in adjoining rooms moving around but this was not an inconvenience, as people during our stay were quiet and considerate. (Could have been a problem if a rowdy group had occupied one of the nearby rooms). We would stay there again.

The location of this hotel is wonderful and great staff. I would suggest booking a room that overlooks the front of the hotel if you care anything about a view. The only other thing is that when I was there (25/03/09) there was room remodeling going on. While it didn't bother my sleep at all, I would have liked to have known about this in advance.

This hotel is in a great location close to Gran Via Avenue where most of the buses circulates and close to a metro station as well (2 blocks). Despite being close to a big avenue all of the windows are noise protected and therefore this is a very quiet room and the hotel stays in a very small street (kind of dead end street), no cars, nothing. Staff is also welcome with good recommendation of restaurants and shows. I recommend it.

This hotel offered excellent value for money, and was in a great location, with metro, local buses, and the open top tourist bus stop close by. The public areas of the hotel were spacious and comfortable, with free internet access. Breakfast was adequate for 8.25 euros. The only slight problem was locating the premises. Calle del Rio is a narrow street off Calle de Leganitos (1st turn right up from Plaza D'Espana fountain). I would happily stay at this hotel again.

A good hotel in an area very convenient for sightseeing and for reataurants. It's near the Gran Via and also near the Royal Palace, Cathedral and Opera House. The lobby was beautiful. The room and bathroom were really nice. The front desk people were very kind and helpful. It was close to the metro and if you turn left out the front door you will come to a place of interest after crossing a big street. I can't remember the name of the huge building but it has sculpted gardens next to it. If you turn right out the front door there are many restaurants, bars and stores on Gran Via. I would stay there again.

Hotel Cason Del Tormes is an excellent little hotel at the top of the Gran Via .The staff are friendly and speak good English and very helpful for information and advice. Had booked a single room but got a twin room at no extra charge!!. Rooms and bathroom were spotless clean and was more than big enough for my needs . Breakfast is not included in the price but quite frankly there are dozens of good little cafes within a stones throw of the hotel that I did not take hotel`s fare. The hotel is almost right beside the Metro (Plaza de Espana) but down a side street and can be a little hard to find .It is a short walk from the hotel to the Royal Palace. The Prado and other sites are at the other end of the Gran Via and although a good walk is certainly worth it to take in the sites and sounds of Madrid`s main street. I found no noise problems with rooms that have been reported in other reviews. All in all a good stay in the Cason del Tormes. Would have no problem staying again on a return visit

From our experience of travelling widely we consider this hotel to be an excellent base from which to explore Madrid. In addition to our very high ratings for the different categories we recommend it for: it's proximity to the metro; to the old part of Madrid; the helpfulness of the staff, whatever time of the day or night; the quietness of the side street and especially its value for money.

I was in Madrid on May 2008 and I found the Hotel on Venere web pages. I'm very happy to have taken this choise because the hotel is really in the centre of the town but in a very quiet street, therefore the reserved room was quiet too. Our fist stay at this location. This is a very good hotel if you need to be centrally located and are arriving by metro. The rooms were spotless. The hotel, room and service were good value for money. The front desk staff were very helpful in directing me to a gym and self service laundry. The hotel was in a good location, a block from Plaza de Espana. My main issue was the amount of noise from the adjoining room. I wasn't sure whether the people in the room were talking at normal volume or the room acoustics and the walls were not particularly good. I probably wouldn't stay in this hotel again due to this noise.

It is a good hotel with a good location for exploring Madrid. Getting there from the airport by Metro is cheap (2€) and straight forward - #8 line then change for #10 line, and a very short walk from there. The tour buses (Madrid Vision) is a short walk away and the staff are very helpful.

Hotel personnel was extremely friendly and supportive. Beside the museums of art, visit the naval museum, worth a few hours. Use the Metro (sub-way) the fastest and cheapest way to get along in madrid

The only thing we missed was a frienfly comunication with the employes, we expected a warmer contact which we consider an important part of our trip. Location is wonderful.

The hotel is ok, the dessert is the weekest part and it cost 8.30... which is a lot for such a poor dessert. They charge you the first night wheen you book from venere. com, which is not good if you have to cancel. This is something to review and change, it's the first time happens to me in a venere hotel, due maybe because it's Spain...

For business trips, it would be good for the hotel to reserve areas and not mix with tourists that don't really care about making noise or watching TV until 1:00 am.

Very nice hotel located in a quiet street, away from the traffic but close enough to the tourist attractions and an undergroud station. Nice welcoming in French. Clean bedroom and bathroom. Bedrooms are a bit small. I would definitely go back to the same hotel and recommend it if you need peace and quiet.
