The location is perfect, very close to Gran Via (10 meters) and just 5 minutes walking to Puerta del Sol, so no need to take taxi to go out at night. It is also quite at night. Rooms are not big, they're essential. There isn't any fridge unfortunately. Private bathroom is ok, maybe the bath should have been cleaned a little more... Staff is kind, there's a supermarket near the hotel. It was very value for money, at that price I will choose it again!

Excellent location - the most important feature for exploring the Old Madrid. Noisy at night - but there is hardly any place in the city center that is quiet at night. Most of the staff speaks only Spanish, but welcoming goodwill makes communication possible. Good value for money.

It was as described by some of the reviews as a basic hotel but in a great location, just down the street from Gran Via, and a Metro station that could take you anywhere in the city. Old rooms with basic services but great location.

We were determined to stay in the city centre and this was the cheapest hotel I could find. The location is perfect for sightseeing, shopping and nightlife - everything is within easy walking distance! We had a few problems with the hotel itself: cleaning staff came into our room despite "do not disturb" sign; heating was turned off until we asked reception to switch it on; room was a little dusty and bath could have been cleaner.

The hotel was definitely worth the money. Great location, clean rooms, very helpful staff and very good price. And even though the hotel is situated in one of teh principal streets, with lot of people and noise, inside the room it was very quiet.

My wife and I spent 10 days in this hotel and we were absolutely satisfied with the conditions (the rooms were very clean and although not big offered all the comfort we needed, the personnel very friendly) and most of all it was positioned in the very center of the city at walking distance to the main attractions. I would definitely stay at this hotel when I will visit Madrid next time.

In definitiva straconsigliato

I booked 1 night stay in this hotel. At the time of arrival I decided to extend my stay for 2 more nights. I asked the receptionist whether the rate will be the same - and he said "Yes". When I was checking out I was billed extra E20/night. The person at the desk was different and I couldn't do anything about this matter. E40 it's not a big deal, but hey......................................

This hotel is located in a woderful area of Madrid, within a short walk from all major attraction and lots of wonderful restaurants. Room are fairly clean. The shower did not work well and the halls have an odor that can be smelled in the room. The double room we had requested had two twin beds. When we first arrived, the first room they gave us came with suitcases, clothes, toiletries, computers, and more. It turned out they acciedntly gave us the key to a room that was already occupied. We never left our key at the front desk. In all, for the price and the great location the room was a good value if you are somewhat flexible.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The location was excellent. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Conveniently located to the metro and many places to eat. Horrible place. Dirty soiled walls, furniture found at a garage sale, unclean bathroom and terrible stinch of smoke. Broken TV, broken bed (ended up putting a matress on the floor, of course "no other rooms available"). Venere shows 3 star rating: based on which services exactly? There is no fridge, no coffee machine, the area is unsafe at night and the front desk is as rude as they are ignorant. The room is a 2 star motel style at best. Do not stay here, you can find better hostels than this "hotel".

Very nice reception, was able to do early check-in after a 15 hour flight! Thank you! The area is very good- Centrally Located, it's a quick walk to several restaurants shopping and Puerta del Sol is a 5 minute walk. Rooms are typical European hotel room. Clean, small but just fine, two single beds are pushed together to create a "Queen". Would recommend to stay there, have fun!

Hotel Anaco was generally pretty good - it is in a great, central location. However, as we had the hotel basically to sleep, it was a shame that the beds and pillows were so uncomfortable and that the hotel was so noisy. As the air-conditioning didn't work, we had to have the windows open and there was a lot of noise every night. Otherwise, the room size was good, the hotel was clean and the service was fine.

We were expecting for a double room and for the first night they gave us a single one saying it was a double. The lights were broken, as well the bathroom's door. When we check out, we wanted a discount in the first night and after a discussion they paid us the breakfast in the near bar.Unfair behavior, because of our young age. However the hotel is in the best position, between Gran Via and Puerta Del Sol, with 2 important metro stops, and a lot of restaurants and stores very close.

Good hotel, let down by ageing decor and paper thin walls. The staff at the hotel are excellent, very professional, english speaking. Rooms serviced daily. Never ending supply of hot water. Room was a little on the shabby side - fresh coat of paint and some new furniture required. Comfortable beds and good size room. Triple glazed windows block any street noise (of which there was little, hotel is on a quiet side street). Unfortunatley the walls and floors are poorly insulated - the room above us had an excitable group and stiletto wearer who could not stand still! Earplugs a consideration if you're a light sleeper. Breakfast isn't included, its supplied by a cafe on the ground floor of the hotel - good coffee and yummy tortillas for £2.50. Also good for a drink with the locals in the evening. Location is fantastic, right in the middle of it. Gay village to the north, hundreds of bars and restaurants, Metro station round the corner (though no need to use it), the major attractions all within walking distance. Parallel streets are home to high street shops and El Corte Ingles (think Debenhams, but bigger). Plaza Mayor about 10 mins walk. Not honeymoon accommodation, but for the budget price this hotel gets top marks. Will be returning soon!!

We entered our double room and saw that we had 2 twin size beds. We called reception immediately because we reserved a double bed. They were able to give us a double bed and it was just fine. It was nice that they gave us another room. The hotel staff was very nice and the rooms were clean. However, the first morning we woke up when the cleaning lady came into our room! She immediately left but left the door ajar. We didn't know it was open until we finally go up. That would be the only bad part of our stay.

The bathroom was spacious and offered the following: a hairdryer, clean crisp white towels, and soap bars. The water pressure for the shower/tub was good, and the screen helped to keep the floor dry whilst showering. The location is really good - you can walk to attractions nearby (2mins walk to Sol) and on the street perpendicular to where Hotel Anaco is located, it's a shopping belt. The room (twin/double) was very spacious, and for the price we paid, was a steal. Even big hotel names in the hotel business do not give you rooms as big. Wardrobe space was good as well. The staff were generally very friendly and very helpful with recommendations and inquiries. The only thing they could not solve was my internet connection problem. The rooms could do with a tiny bit more lighting as well.

This hotel was ok for the price we paid, although we got a more modern hotel nearby for the same price a few weeks earlier. The price quoted was the price we had to pay (no hidden tax). The room was simple, comfortable enough, and reasonably spacious. The hotel is in a good location, just off gran via and right near the gran via underground station. The prostitutes that work the street just one block away, day and night, didn't seem to attract any major threats. Unfortunately, some noise travels from other rooms, although not excessively. This is partly because there is no carpet on the floors noise, you can hear people walking in heels etc. in the rooms above. The hotel public areas look like they could do with a refit, and the lift is quite small, dark and cramped. Airconditioning stopped working every day between 2am and 8am, so I suspect it had a centrally controlled over-ride to conserve energy - this made the room a little too warm for my liking. Throughout the day time the airconditioning worked well and was fine. The TV only has a small selection of stations, and they are only in Spanish.

I stayed at ANACO hotel for three days. Locationwise it is excellent: shopping, cultural and other things are located all around. Basically almost everything-to-see-in-Madrid was in the walking distance. The reception personnel was very nice, however the rooms DO NEED to be refreshed if not renovated. Otherwise my wife and I enjoyed the stay. The Gran Via street is 2 min away, but surprisingly enough there was not much noise.

The only problem I had with Anaco is that every morning, they turned off the airconditioner from about 7 am until about 1pm. They kept saying that it was broken, but this happened 4 days in a row and happened at approximately the same time.
